Dealing with the fallout of his career and fighting to prove himself once again, Lightning Mcqueen does everything in his power to unearth the realities of the racing world. He's handling it well, getting evidence and making unlikely friends with the rookies and an even weirder ally of Jackson Storm, and then shit hits the fan.
Taylor Enterprises is a HUGE French company that owns one of the teams as well as a team in F1, funds a huge portion of races and has been the best in the game for years.
Clive Taylor, previous founder and owner of Taylor Enterprises, is doing life in prison three times over. While most of the court records are sealed it's known he committed money laundering, corporate fraud, insider trading, and other pretty big ones. It's been 10 years, and the court records have been officially unsealed, and while censored to hell it comes to light that he had a son. The public is horrified to find the majority of his charges are on child abuse and neglect of one Montgomery Taylor, and now they want answers. Suddenly they're hellbent on finding out who this mysterious son is and the real story.
What no one knows is, they've been looking at him the whole time. Lightning Mcqueen is scrambling to save himself. How does he move forward? Can he expose what's going on behind the scenes while keeping his secrets tucked away?
Disclaimer!!! You should know I'm not the greatest writer and this is 100% a recreational project, I'm a college student so updates will not be consistent and done whenever I feel like it. This has been simmering in my mind for the better part of a year so there's a lot to the plot and backstory, I'll do my best to convey this. The timeline and ages are a bit different, this is set at the beginning of Cars 3, ages are on the younger side though to fit the plot. Lightning is 29 here, and other relevant characters ages will be mentioned as subtly as possible. This is not a light fic, things will get heavy and the graphic depictions of violence tag is there for a reason, I will give disclaimers for particularly harder chapters but overall tread carefully. This fic is still in the works so feel free to let it marinate until finished or follow along for the journey. Do pay attention to the notes at the beginning or end of chapters to know if I've fucked something up and etc. ALSO, I do not know much about how NASCAR or F1 operate as corporations, nor do I know much about the law or court so I'm really just making up the entirety of the logistics in this entire fic.
