The sun hung high in the sky, casting a golden light across the vibrant landscape as Darfa walked beside Radiance. The heat of the afternoon was tempered by a gentle breeze, and the air felt crisp and clean, like a fresh start. Radiance, the Day Prince, had been a constant presence in Darfa’s life since her flight from Kieran, the Night Prince. She had found refuge under his protection, a temporary sanctuary from the darkness that threatened to consume her. His kindness was a welcome contrast to the chaos she had fled, but Darfa couldn't deny the gnawing confusion that grew in her heart each day.
As they strolled along the path, Radiance's gaze fell upon a cluster of wildflowers. He stopped, crouching to pick one with the care of someone who appreciated beauty in all forms. "This one," he murmured, holding it up between his fingers. "It reminds me of you."
Darfa looked at the flower, its delicate petals a soft pink, almost glowing in the sunlight. She arched an eyebrow, a slight smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "A flower reminds you of me?"
Radiance straightened, holding the flower out to her. His expression softened, the light from the sun reflecting in his eyes. "Yes," he said quietly. "You’re like this flower—fragile but strong, radiant even in the darkest places. I’m... jealous, you know." He paused, his gaze not leaving hers. "Kieran gets you all to himself."
The words hung in the air, an unspoken admission of something more than friendship in his tone. Darfa’s breath caught in her chest, the weight of his jealousy unexpectedly stirring something within her. She had always known Radiance cared for her, but hearing him say it so plainly, so openly, made her heart race in a way she hadn’t anticipated.
Overcome by the intensity of the moment, Darfa found herself leaning in without thinking. Her lips met Radiance’s, soft and tentative at first. The world around them seemed to blur as everything—Kieran, the threat looming over her life, the confusion she felt—faded away.
Radiance was momentarily frozen, surprised, but then his arms encircled her, pulling her close.
"I'm so sorry, my prince, I don't know what came over me-"
Radiance caught her wrist, his golden eyes searching hers, silently asking if she truly regrets it.
"It's okay. I've wanted to kiss you for a long time now."
Darfa, exhausted from everything, finally let herself be wanted—without fear, without hesitation.
As Radiance assured her, his voice was steady, warm, and certain. He wasn’t claiming her the way Kieran did; he’s offering himself to her, as someone who has wanted her from the start. That difference—between taking and wanting—made her breath hitch.
Darfa searched his eyes, looking for doubt, but found none. And so, she let herself fall. She pressed herself against him, this time not out of impulse, but out of need. Their lips crashed together again, fiercer, hungrier.
The kiss deepened, filled with a desperation that mirrored her own—a need to feel something real, something warm. His lips were gentle, but there was an unmistakable fire behind them, a longing that made Darfa's pulse quicken. She hadn’t expected this, hadn’t expected to lose herself in the arms of someone else so soon, but with Radiance, everything felt so... right.
As they pulled away, Radiance’s breathing was heavier, his gaze unreadable. "Darfa," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "Are you sure about this?"
Darfa didn’t answer at first. She simply cupped his face in her hands, studying his features with a mix of awe and uncertainty. Then, in a voice barely above a whisper, she said, "I don’t know what I’m sure of anymore, Radiance."
But in that moment, with the sunlight dappling through the trees and the quiet world around them, it didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was the beating of their hearts in unison, the connection that neither of them could deny.
Their passion felt raw yet deeply intimate—two souls who had wanted each other for so long but were never allowed to act on it.
Radiance was gentle at first, as if giving Darfa a chance to pull away. His touch was warm, his fingers tracing her jaw before sliding down her arms, memorizing every inch of her. But when Darfa didn't stop him—when she instead pressed closer, tilting her head up for another kiss—his restraint shattered.
Their kisses grew urgent, hands exploring, breaths mingling as they lost themselves in each other. Radiance lifted her, laying her down on the soft grass with reverence. He whispered her name like a prayer, telling her she’s beautiful, that he’d dreamed of this moment for too long.
For Darfa, it was unlike anything she’s ever known. There was no force, no battle for control—only surrender, the kind that made her feel safe instead of lost. His hands moved over her body with aching slowness, as if worshiping her, making her feel desired in a way Kieran never did.
Kieran was all dominance, all control—taking what he wanted, leaving Darfa feeling like she was always bracing for impact. But Radiance was the opposite. Being with him felt like stepping into the golden glow of morning light, like warmth spreading through her after a cold night.
Radiance made quick work of her clothes, lifting his own shirt over his head before it joined Darfa's clothes nearby. He didn’t just touch her—he cherished her. His fingers traced over her skin like he was afraid she’ll disappear, like he wanted to memorize every inch of her before she slipped away. He didn’t rush, didn’t demand. Instead, he moved at her pace, letting her guide him, as if she was the one in control this time.
Darfa closed her eyes, just feeling. The way his lips ghosted over her collarbone, the way his hands cradled her hips with quiet reverence. He whispered soft praises, telling her she was radiant, that she deserved to be worshiped. His kisses were slow, deep, not just hunger but devotion.
For Darfa, the difference was startling. She’d spent so long expecting roughness, preparing for the kind of passion that took rather than gave. But this—this was something else entirely.
When Radiance’s fingers skimmed her skin, they didn’t grip or demand. They explored, lingering as if he was savoring the simple act of touching her. It sent a shiver through her, but not from fear or tension—just the quiet shock of being treated like something precious.
His lips moved over her slowly, pressing soft kisses to her shoulders, her collarbone, the hollow of her throat. Not claiming. Not possessing. Just being with her. And that, somehow, was more intimate than anything she’d ever known.
For a moment, she stiffened out of habit, expecting things to escalate in the way she’s used to. But Radiance noticed. He slowed even further, brushing a kiss against her cheek, whispering, “You don’t have to rush. Just feel.”
And Darfa realized—he meant it. He wasn't here to overpower her or take control. He wanted her to want this just as much as he did.
Something inside her broke open. Her fingers trembled as she reached for him, tracing his jaw, his lips. When she kissed him again, it wasn't hesitant—it was full of need, but not the desperate kind. It was the need to be cherished, to be held, to let herself fall into something safe.
As Radiance’s hands moved over her, Darfa couldn’t help but compare it to Kieran’s touch—the way Kieran never asked, just took what he wanted. The roughness, the possessiveness—it used to make her feel claimed, but now, in the warmth of Radiance’s embrace, she felt seen.
At first, there was a slight hesitation, a part of her still bracing for that familiar sense of urgency, the need to pull away before it got too close. But Radiance’s touch was different. His hands were gentle but sure, guiding her, as if he was offering her a safe haven.
Darfa closed her eyes, allowing herself to sink into the feeling. Radiance’s lips were warm against her skin, soft and tender as he kissed her slowly. She felt her body relaxing, tension slipping away, like she was being wrapped in a blanket of sunlight. For the first time in a long while, she felt like she could breathe.
His voice, low and soothing, filled her ears, whispering words that made her heart race. “You’re beautiful, Darfa. So beautiful.”
The contrast between him and Kieran was stark. Kieran never whispered things like that. Kieran was always taking, always demanding, but with Radiance… with him, there’s a gentleness that wrapped around her like a lifeline.
"Radiance...my prince...I want you."
"Your wish is my command."
As their bodies pressed together, Radiance rested one hand gently on the back of Darfa’s neck, his thumb softly caressing her skin. He kissed the shell of her ear softly, his breath warm against her skin, making her shiver. Darfa gasped.
It wasn't frantic or hurried. It was deliberate, thoughtful, like he was giving her the time to feel each moment, each touch. And Darfa allowed herself to let go, to stop thinking of the past and just feel.
The moment wasn’t just physical. It was emotional, raw in a way she’d never experienced before. When they finally came together, it wasn't just the release of pent-up desire. It was a release of everything—the past, the pain, the fears.
It was like the warmth of sunlight spilling over her skin, filling every cold, empty space Kieran left behind. It was soft gasps and whispered names, hands gliding over skin in silent worship. It wasn't about power or control—it was about her.
Darfa could feel the tension building, the edges of her control slipping away. She wrapped her legs around his waist, a breathless moan slipping from her lips as his name escaped in a ragged whisper.
"Radiance... You're so good to me... I’m going to—"
"Shhh..." he hushed her softly, his voice low and soothing against her ear. "I’m here. Let go."
And she did. With a shudder, her body surrendered to the overwhelming pleasure that surged through her. Her toes curled, her vision going hazy as she lost herself completely in the sensation. Radiance held her close, his hands steady and grounding, offering her a safe haven in the storm of ecstasy. Moments later, he too gave in, burying his face against her neck as his breath hitched, a quiet groan escaping him.
They stayed there, entangled in the aftermath, their bodies still connected as they slowly came down from their high. The air around them felt still, the world outside momentarily forgotten as they simply existed in the warmth of each other’s embrace. Her breath hitched as she felt the warmth of Radiance’s skin, the steadiness of his pulse, and she realized something deep within her: this was what it was supposed to feel like. Safe. Loved. Whole.
