"Oh No, I'm So Into That"

Summary:

Unlike the previous mermaids, who had a serene and mystifying aura, this one wore an eternal annoyance on her face, as if she didn't want to be there but had to.

And this one, this one, made her heart skip a beat.

Work Text:

Stay strong; you're a De Rochefort!

Lili covered her ears to protect herself from physical harm and her enemies' mental trickery. As an experienced sailor, she knew that hearing a mermaid's song would make her fall asleep. Her ears are once again about to go numb, and she's on the verge of passing out. But that was something she couldn't afford to do, especially when the rescue team was right on the shore, trying to find her.

I am going home no matter what.

If these rescuers could bring back home the daughter of the most powerful man in Monaco, they would be rewarded with a fortune that will let them retire young. While she would once again be the best heiress her father could ever ask.

All she had to do was to let them see her.

But these pesky mermaids has been bombarding her with their soft voices and sweet melodies that makes her want to close her eyes, take a nap, and forget about everything else. So the legends were true: once you entered the Mermaid's Den, the inhabitants there wouldn't let you leave.

It has been two weeks since she washed away into this mysterious island. The memory of their ship capsizing was still vivid on her mind; the thunder booming above her, all the debris swirling in the water, and her crewmates shouting in despair while trying to survive by any means. She was lucky to have caught a sturdy log and successfully secured herself with a rope before completely passing out.

The next thing she knew, the waves brought her to an island only known in legends: The Mermaid's Den. She survived for two weeks, strategically gathering and using the island's resources to stay alive and sane until the rescuers arrived. And now that they're here, she won't waste her only chance.

No one would break her strong resolve, even the mermaids that sang majestically in front of her with the sweetest and most tantalizing voices she had ever heard. Had she not known where she was, she would've thought she was in heaven.

These beautiful cursed creatures.

Still, she passed through them, knowing that they couldn't harm her physically. They are in the ocean, she is on land.  The rescue ship was docked far away, the tune couldn't reach the others. Finally, she is just a few hundred yards away from getting out of the mermaid's clasp. Nobody could stop her from finally going home.

Until she saw her—the brown-haired mermaid with blue scales. Unlike the previous mermaids, who had a serene and mystifying aura, this one wore an eternal annoyance on her face, as if she didn't want to be there but had to.

And this one, this one, made her heart skip a beat.

For the first time, a mermaid tried to make a conversation with her.

"Hey blondie, if it's up to me, I'd even throw you into that ugly ship."

The mermaid scratched her shaggy hair and sighed.

"But nah, 'yer not leavin' 'd island. Not on my watch."

Baffled by the turn of events, Lili started to feel her resolve slowly fade. This was beyond her expectations. She was starting to lose her grip on herself when a heavy guitar rift suddenly started to echo from a distance.

The brown-haired siren took a deep breath, held it for a millisecond, and started to sing. It was the heaviest, nastiest, and most guttural song she had ever heard.

Ein eksplosjon av tusen kilo stål

Retning ukjent land

A gust of strong wind went past her before she fell, and a worrying thought lingered before she lost consciousness.

Oh no, I am so into that.
