Chapter Text
It was stupid. So stupid. Any other week, let alone any other day Hao would have no problem brushing it off.
Two seconds.
All it took was two seconds that turned an already bad day and made it ten times worse. After a busy day filled with a camera stuck to his face for far too long, barely any food in his system, and a headache that was beyond the help of any ibuprofen he really should have known better. He should’ve just gotten back to the dorm, taken a shower, and gone to sleep given that he has to be up in just a few hours. What an easy life it could've been.
Instead, here he was scrolling away looking at the new content released from their day at Mcountdown. It was all fine and innocent until that stupid clip entered his timeline. There he was, the love of his life, his other half, his reason for existence if he was to be completely honest with himself, Sung Hanbin, making kissy faces at another man.
The man in question: Myung Jaehyun. A name, a person, he was now all too familiar with. And to be honest, most days he had no problem with him. Sure Hao had “jealousy” issues (the way Hao saw it, if Hanbin was his boyfriend why would anyone else need to look at him, let alone breathe next to him? It was just common sense and decency.) but he was rational most times when it came to Jaehyun because he knew that was just the kind of friendship the two Korean men had with each other. Hanbin had talked about it early on with Hao, knowing how the other was. He assured Hao that the other man saw him purely in a platonic way and the so-called flirting on camera was all that it was, for the camera. Hanbin and Jaehyun were close but both men knew there was a line not to be crossed. So then why did it feel like today that line was ran over?
It wasn’t even anything out of the ordinary. They would use flirty banter, hug, and send kisses to each other all the time. Hanbin even went as far as to “propose” to Jaehyun (though Hanbin did have to make up for that day with plenty of durian kisses). But today, on top of everything else, the effect of this two second air kiss clip held the same weight as if the two men were actually properly kissing in front of him. Hao wanted to die for lack of better words.
After staring at the clip for far longer than he would ever like to admit Hao finally shut his phone off and tossed it to the side. Sleep. Surely sleep would fix everything. It was probably because of his lack of sleep that he felt this disoriented to begin with. But as he turned to the side he was met with another sting of pain remembering his beloved wasn’t even home. Hanbin had to stay later than the rest of them having to wrap up his MC duties for the day. It was horrible. No consideration for his pouty, clingy boyfriend at home who was currently having a crisis over the two men who were no doubt still in each other's presence.
That very thought makes him nauseous (although that might have been the lack of food). And now to distract himself he can only do one thing, stare up at the ceiling and hope his Hanbin would come running in to save him from his own thoughts. But such a situation never occurs. After about 45 minutes of endless staring Hao finally gives into his sleep, alone and cold.
-
Unfortunately for him he wakes up just the same just a few hours later. No Hanbin in sight. Not even to wake him up, his manager was put to the task instead. He should’ve known then the day would be no better than the previous.
With such limited time Hao has to hurry and get himself in a presentable state so their stylist for the day doesn’t kill him. And as soon as he is ready he is off to the car, a car without Hanbin. Instead today he is with Jiwoong and Yujin, whom he loved dearly but neither were the face of the one who he wanted to see the most, even if he was annoyed at him for the time being. He decided since the moment he woke up he would do his best to subside any feelings of jealousy that lingered. He didn’t want to ruin the mood with promotions going on and deep down he knew there was a bigger issue at hand than just being jealous of Hanbin’s coworker. But that was to figure out later. More than anything right now he wanted to see, to touch, to hold his lover but for now all he could do was wait to see him once the car stopped.
Finally, after far too long they finally reach their destination for the day and although the sun hasn’t even peaked through the sky, he finds himself almost jumping with the utmost energy out of the car. Ignoring the glare from the maknae as he makes his way inside and finally after what feels like days (but was really just a mere 5 hours) he locks eyes with Hanbin’s ever so dazzling set.
“Hao hyung-”
“Hanbinnie-”
Both boys smile as they clasp hands. Sure he was upset at his behavior yesterday, but who was he to deprive himself of the touch and comfort of his lover? The warmth he felt upon the touch was quickly short-lived as the boys were whisked away to start their work day.
And to his dismay the rest of the day fell into the same routine as of recent since Blue promotions had started. Pre recordings, tiktok challenges, wardrobe changes, filming more promotional videos for their other media accounts, then the live show. He loved every second of his idol life, truly, but some days (like today especially) he wished for his ordinary life where he could just be with Hanbin in peace. Instead the two had to find moments in between to share glances, laughs, and innocent touches with each other. And by the time it was over Hao was met with even more disappointment as Hanbin and him and their own solo schedules for the evening.
However, Hao was determined to at least get one moment alone with his lover before they have to go off on their separate ways. So quietly and carefully as everyone is gathering their belongings to head out for the day he heads to Hanbins direction. He finds the boy putting on a sweater before they go out into the cold brisk winter air.
Hanbin’s eyes finally light up when they meet Hao’s.
“Hyung-”
He is cut off with an abrupt tug at his wrist, “Follow me.” Hao announces clearly and in the hushest tone possible.
Hanbin nods following the cherry blossom haired boy that leads him to a single stall restroom. Once both boys are in, Hao quickly locks the door behind them.
“Hao, what’s wro-” before he can say anymore a hug engulfs him. At first startled but within seconds he’s melting into the elders arms, his own finding his way around Hao’s waist and clutching onto his back as if he could be taken from him at any second.
“I’m sorry I just needed this” Hao speaks into Bin’s neck. Taking in his scent, that although is tainted with a bit of sweat, is still his favorite thing in the world.
Hanbin pulls apart just a bit to be eye to eye with the man in front of him.
“Oh hao, is everything alright? Are you feeling sick?” He tries searching his eyes for any discomfort but Hao quickly shuts them and shakes his head.
“I’m not sick Hanbinnie, don’t worry. I just didn’t have the best sleep last night.” It was a bit of a jab but Hao had gone all day without moping, the least he could now was let his boyfriend know some of his thoughts from the night before.
“Jagi, I’m sorry, I really wanted to go to you but I got back so late. I would’ve hated myself if I would have woken you given we don’t have much time to sleep these days.” he says, rubbing circles into Hao’s back.
Of course his ever so loving, gentle, considerate boyfriend would think that. Little did he know that very thought caused him to toss and turn all night.
“I appreciate that Binnie, but I still wanted you there with me. I wasn’t going to sleep much regardless, but having you around would’ve helped. Promise me tonight you’ll come to me?” he pouts. He would love to elaborate on how watching him give a single air kiss to his fellow MC caused him to spiral a tiny bit, but alas they are short on time and a bathroom really isn’t the ideal location to discuss such things either.
“Gege, are you sure? You really won’t mind?” Giving the elder his 'innocent' and breath taking sparkling eyes, how precious.
“Hanbinnie, did you not just hear me? I’m positive. It doesn’t matter if you wake me up, even then, it would be worth it.” Hao assures bringing the sweetest smile to Bin’s face.
“Okay then, I’ll go to you tonight. But don’t wait up, okay? We’re supposed to be ending pretty late, so if you feel tired then go to sleep. I’ll be there when you wake up regardless, okay jagi?”
Just as he finishes speaking they both hear “Hao, Hanbin! Managers are coming, we need to leave” although muffled through the walls they can tell it’s their angel of a roommate, Gyuvin.
“Let’s go hyung-”
“Ah, back to hyung so soon? And trying to leave me without a kiss. Do you even love me Hanbinnie?” hao pouts.
Hanbin scoffs but caves in just like he does every time his silly Hao tries to pick this baseless argument. “Gege, you know I love you more than life itself. But one of us has to be responsible before we get reprimanded again.”
“Still not a good enough excuse for no kisses” he’s relentless.
All Hanbin can do is smile as he says “You’re right, come here”
Not that there was much space to begin with, with this whole conversation being in each other's arms, and yet somehow they move even closer till their lips are millimeters apart. And finally, after what feels like forever, their lips meet. Hao can breathe again.
The kiss, soft, gentle, and more than anything way too short. As they break apart, eyes meeting each other once again Hao whines.
“Binnie-”
“I know gege, I know”, Hanbin pats his hair and gives him a quick peck. “As much as I want to continue this too, we have to go. But I’ll see you tonight, okay beautiful?”
With one last pout Hao nods his head and they both set out to return to their dressing room. Unfortunately their managers were already there. Fortunately, however, all they get are glares that they pretend not to see.

Hao’s solo schedule came and went within the next few hours. Today consisted of practicing a few routines for fancon that would be taking place next month. Hao came home both excited and tired from practice. But truthfully he only had one thought on his mind: Hanbin.
Hao looks at the clock in his room, 10:51 pm. Surely Hanbinnie wouldn’t be much longer.
To distract himself he decides a shower and a nice cup of tea would do the job. He tries, he really tries to not think about every minute that has gone by without his lover by his side. And to his defense it’s not until he has sipped the last bit of his tea that he picks up his phone to check the time again now reading 12:06 am.
Okay, so Hanbin was right it was going to be a longer day for him. Hao suddenly starts to feel regretful at his choice of drinking tea as he feels his eyes start to droop. Curse sleep, why must he be so weak?
So before he drifts off he decides a simple message will suffice.
To: Hanbinnie <3
Hanbinnie! I drank some tea so I’m getting a bit sleepy now. And since I’m such a great boyfriend I will listen to you and head to bed. But please come home soon, okay? I’ll see you when I wake up. I love you!
And with that Hao puts down his phone but decides to leave his lamp on knowing his beloved would be home soon to join him and turn it off. At that thought he goes to sleep with a smile on his face.
