Chapter Text
Fred won’t stop laughing.
Now this isn’t out of the ordinary for his twin, no Fred is always laughing, they both are really, wherever the two are there is bound to be laughter. It’s just that usually George is laughing along to. This time it’s just Fred.
Bill had been hounding them all summer to go to Gringotts with him, he’d kept going on and on about how they were overdue for their magical inheritances and how important it was for their development. The twins finally agreed to go after he offered to show them a high level spell, bribery always worked best with the pair.
It’s not that George and Fred didn’t care about their magic, they just knew that for the last few generations the Weasley family magic hadn’t been cared for. Yeah it still had power, but it was like an overgrown garden, it would take time and dedication and a lot of work to get it back to something useful. They knew that they just didn’t have the time or energy to dedicate themselves to it, and having all that uncared for magic in their veins would mean they would have to work on it. Family magic is funny that way, it’s a part of you, and you're a part of it, so when it’s left alone it tends to nip at you.
In the end they went to the bank with Bill, he's a curse breaker for the goblin bank, and believed that his family had to re-establish a relationship with Gringotts. Their family ran into money problems a few generations back, their great grandfather had been disinherited when he married outside of the sacred twenty eight. The girl had still been a pure blood wizard, but she wasn’t nobility, so his great great grandfather had stripped his son of his title. George didn’t mind, he was proud his great grandda had told the old blue blood to shove it.
No one in the family had gone for their magical inheritance since, Bill was the first one in the family to get his and he had been working on re-establishing a link with the family magic. Now Fred and George were being roped into it. The spell work Bill was going to teach them was a general combination spell for some tricky magic, it could be invaluable for their inventing, and if the price was some unkempt magic, then the twins were game.
But now Fred was laughing. He’d been laughing for a while and there was no signs he was stopping anytime soon. Even Bill was grinning, the bastard. The goblin helping them was just staring at his twin, waiting for the interruption to end, but he had a look in his eye that screamed amusement. George was about ready to set the whole office on fire.
Their magical inheritance wasn’t anything much, they got their family magic and an outline of their magical core and abilities. Having their magic mapped would be useful, being able to hone their abilities should help them invent new spells after all. Over all there wasn’t anything unusual in them, except for George’s that is. The thing that had his twin in a such a tizzy was on the last page of George’s file.
