THE MURDER OF SATIRE

Summary:

YOU - "How much for the bag?"

SIILENG - "Normally this would be *way* more, but for you? One hundred and fifty nine reál."

LOGIC [Trivial: Success] - *What*?! But that's more than your damages cost...

KIM KITSURAGI - "What? That can't be right..."

SIILENG - "It *is* right, officer! This bag is worth its weight in gold!" He gestures to it excitedly, like he'd jangle some keys if he had them on hand.

VISUAL CALCULUS [Medium: Success] - Not quite right. This volume of gold would be over a hundred times the value of the tare bag. But it *does* cost more than a comparable amount of silver.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Challenging: Success] - *And* cocaine. What madness is this?

--👜--

Awoken from a painless slumber, a fumbling Detective of the Revachol Citizens Militia seeks to escape his responsibilities -- through *Consumerism*.

Notes:

An idea cooked up between Thood and I over the last week or two. I've really been hankering to put something down proper that's *just* Disco -- and this is it.

There's still too much skill chatter compared to canon, I think -- but dammit, I love hearing these idiots bicker.

In case you're *somehow* unaware -- [the bag in question]. Yes, it's real.

Work Text:

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - You spy a pristine tare bag shining in the light of the setting sun. It is perched on a beat up crate, half-opened and commandeered as another makeshift display table.

REACTION SPEED [Easy: Success] - This wasn't here this morning.

INTERFACING [Medium: Success] - There's a prybar leaned against the other side of the crate, lazily hidden from view. The wood this one's made of is better quality than the others.

KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant looks at the display, suspicion evident in his features. He looks as though he's about to say something.

SIILENG - "Welcome back, officer!" The merchant interrupts. "We just got a new shipment! One time only -- the finest luggage in all of Revachol!"

LOGIC [Medium: Easy] - That's not luggage. There's no wheels -- it's a small handheld bag. You wouldn't be able to check that for international travel.

  1. "Luggage? This is a plastic bag."
  2. "I *have* been looking for something to help carry around all this stuff..."
  3. "What's the prybar there for?"
  4. "Not interested. I already have one, see?" (Show him your tare bag.)
  5. "Sorry, I have more important things to do than peruse your wares." [Leave.]

YOU - "Luggage? This is a plastic bag."

SIILENG - "Plastic? Nooo, this isn't plastic officer -- this is one hundred percent Dyneema composite fabric! Very durable, *very* cool."

PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT [Medium: Success] - Sounds like one tough bag. Way more fitting for a guy like you than the cruddy one you stole from that drunk.

INTERFACING [Formidable: Success] - Strong, sure -- but not as a bag. Dyneema isn't the best material for *abrasion* resistance, despite its formidable tensile strength. It may actually wear down *faster* than plastic under the right conditions.

SUGGESTION [Easy: Success] - It sounds like he's committed these details to memory. Even the faux sincerity is fading fast.

SIILENG - "That's the main part there -- the belt is polyester, and the metal bits are anodized aluminum. Only the highest quality materials for a high quality customer!" His perpetual smile cracks a few degrees wider.

PAIN THRESHOLD [Challenging: Success] - That *still* isn't luggage. Who does this con-man think he is -- trying to pull a fast one and skip town?!

  1. "That *does* sound a lot more impressive than plastic."
  2. "Okay, but it looks exactly like a plastic bag. What's the point of making it with expensive things?"
  3. "Dyneema isn't well suited for bags, though. It'd wear through real quick."
  4. "You trying to hustle me? Hustle *me*?! This isn't luggage, I *know* what luggage is! Where's the little wheels?!"

YOU - "You trying to hustle me? Hustle *me*?! This isn't luggage, I *know* what luggage is! Where's the little wheels?!"

SIILENG - "Wheels?" He looks at the bag, as if only now realizing it lacks the presence of wheels. "Luggage doesn't need wheels. This is a carry-on!"

PAIN THRESHOLD - *Carry-on*?!

  1. "*BULLSHIT*! They *ALWAYS* have wheels! How the fuck else are you supposed to drag all your things away without them, huh? HOW, SIILENG?!"

YOU - "*BULLSHIT*! They *ALWAYS* have wheels! How the fuck else are you supposed to drag all your things away without them, huh? HOW, SIILENG?!"

DAMAGED MORALE -1

SIILENG - "Uh..." He is making a pointed effort to avoid eye contact with you from behind his shades.

COMPOSURE [Easy: Success] - Even his salesman-grin has been cut down to a thin neutral line. He shifts uncomfortably in his seat.

PAIN THRESHOLD - He should be *more* uncomfortable. Make him feel what--

KIM KITSURAGI - "Officer!" The lieutenant's voice cuts you off, stern and scolding. "We are here, among other things, to put a stop to public disturbances -- not cause a new one."

ESPRIT DE CORPS [Medium: Success] - He wouldn't mind if it was related to the case -- but this clearly isn't. This is just *immature*.

  1. "*Khm*. Yeah, well -- just, it's a bag, you know? Not luggage."
  2. "It's not *fucking* luggage! It's *not*!"

YOU - "*Khm*. Yeah, well -- just, it's a bag, you know? Not luggage."

SIILENG - "You're right, officer. It's not luggage, just a stupid luxury carrier bag. Still very high tech, very cool. Maybe you want one for your job?" The man expounds half-heartedly.

HALF LIGHT [Easy: Success] - Looks like you *won*. He'll never call that bag 'luggage' again.

PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT [Medium: Success] - Hell yeah.

  1. [Examine the bag more closely.]
  2. "Where'd you get this from? This crate looks different than the others."
  3. "How much for the bag?"
  4. [Leave.]

YOU - [Examine the bag more closely.]

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - The bag is only lightly crumpled -- on a closer look it appears ironed. Though empty, it sports a signature Frittte crown on the front, the source of the shining you saw earlier from the street.

INLAND EMPIRE [Medium: Success] - It's not empty. The contents of this bag run very, *very* deep -- a nice compliment to your own complexities.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Sure, sure. *Not* emptiness aside -- it's practically identical to your own. Just less creased. Maybe a slightly lighter yellow.

INTERFACING - And yet still a flawed design. Maybe you can bring *that* up if you're done yelling about luggage bags.

  1. [Examine the bag more closely.]
  2. "Why would I buy this, I have a bag just like it already!" (Show him your tare bag.)
  3. "Y'know Dyneema is a weird choice for a bag. Sure, it's tear resistant and won't stretch, but it'll wear through about as fast as plastic would."
  4. "Where'd you get this from? This crate looks different than the others."
  5. "How much for the bag?"
  6. [Leave.]

YOU - "Why would I buy this, I have a bag just like it already!" (Show him your tare bag.)

SAVOIR FAIRE [Easy: Success] - Why *are* you still carrying around a bag full of garbage? The money's nice, but do you need to do it with a ratty thing like *this*?

HAND/EYE COORDINATION [Easy: Success] - This bag has been glued to your hand for the majority of the time you can consciously remember. It's already worn a little red stripe into your fingers.

SIILENG - He leans forward and squints, scrutinizing your own competing bag.

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Easy: Success] - There's a small puddle inside it threatening to drip out the bottom. A mixture of leftover alcoholic swill.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Challenging: Success] - Like a wineskin. You could drink from this for *days* with enough bottles...

SIILENG - "Oh! Yes, I admit, this is already one pretty swanky bag -- but don't you think it could be... *swankier*? In mint condition?"

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - The crown shines brighter in the corner of your peripheral vision, ablaze like a miniature sun.

CONCEPTUALIZATION [Challenging: Success] - A crown of rarefied light, fit for royalty and the divine.

SHIVERS [Medium: Success] - In a public park across the river, on the south side of Le Cycle -- a young woman lies on the crest of a hill, eyes trained on a bird that sings in the bough of a tree. She daydreams of springtime, switchblades, and death.

SIILENG - "Maybe it's time to retire your bag, you know? Give it a nice sendoff and buy something *new*!"

KIM KITSURAGI - You *could* do with another bag, officer. One that's less... ripe." He glances at the single bead of liquid gathering on the underside.

HORRIFIC NECKTIE - No! Don't listen to him, bratan! You need all that sweet sweet bag alcohol! Don't give it up for that uptown whore *carrier*, she's just showing off.

  6. [Leave.]

  1. "That's insane!"
  2. "That's insane! I could pay off my repair bill at the Whirling for that kind of money!"
  3. "That's insane! I could invest in silver for that kind of money!"
  4. "That's insane! I could buy so much cocaine for that kind of money!"
  5. "That's perfectly sane, actually. Makes sense it would cost so much, it's *really* fancy."

YOU - "That's insane! I could pay off my repair bill at the Whirling for that kind of money!"

SIILENG - "That must be one pretty cheap repair bill, officer! This bag has a *massive* discount. Real steal for a guy like you who needs to pay repair bills."

SAVOIR FAIRE [Easy: Success] - You *do* like discounts. Hefty discounts mean more liquid capital for *investment*.

KIM KITSURAGI - "I can guarantee you it is not. Come on, detective. We have a case to solve."

ESPRIT DE CORPS [Easy: Success] - *And* you still need to make rent today. Not buy art statement bags from street dealers.

  5. "How the hell am I supposed to get the money for this? This isn't fair!"
  6. [Locked: ✤ 159.00] "I'd *love* to have that sleek, sleek carrier bag, please and thank you."
  7. [Leave.]

YOU - "How the hell am I supposed to get the money for this? This isn't fair!"

SIILENG - "Oh, I don't know, officer -- I'm just a humble salesman. Other people give me money. Maybe you could become a salesman too?"

EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - He means this as a joke, not a jab. It's just not a very clever one.

INLAND EMPIRE [Medium: Success] - If only you had someone here you could ask for advice -- *khm*.

SAVOIR FAIRE [Impossible: Failure] - He must mean someone *outside* your head. You know the tactics, but the numbers are a bit tough.

HORRIFIC NECKTIE - What? No! You don't need financial advice! You know what you want to spend this on already!

VOLITION [Easy: Success] - Your rent, so you don't freeze to death tonight?

  5. "How the hell am I supposed to get the money for this? This isn't fair!"
  6. [Inland Empire - Legendary 14] Where am I gonna get lucrative financial advice from?
  7. [Locked: ✤ 159.00] "I'd *love* to have that sleek, sleek carrier bag, please and thank you."
  8. [Leave.]

YOU - Where am I gonna get lucrative financial advice from?

+1 Proto-ultraliberalist tendencies

+1 Horrific necktie

-2 Haven't paid rent.

-1 Not luggage

+1 Very deep

+3 Know a rich person

CHECK SUCCESS

INLAND EMPIRE [Legendary: Success] - You know just the accessory for the job.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Who, me? Why would *I* help *you* with your financial troubles -- you won't even buy me, will you?

VOLITION [Medium: Success] - Come on, you already have a *vice demon* on your neck. Don't start carrying around a sales executive next.

RHETORIC [Easy: Success] - That's the kind of recipe that gets you sent to hell.

HORRIFIC NECKTIE - Listen to those losers for once! Don't go getting mixed up with her, it's only gonna hurt.

  1. Yeah, you're probably right. I'm poor and defenseless in this rich man's world. But maybe you can give me a shot anyways?
  2. No no, I promise I'll buy you! One-hundred-and-fifty-nine percent guarantee! Come on!
  3. Sorry, this party's already full up on talking items. (Refuse the Eternal Wisdom.)

YOU - No no, I promise I'll buy you! One-hundred-and-fifty-nine percent guarantee! Come on!

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - See, this is strike one already. You tipped your hand too early! That sorry mess of desperation you call a negotiation isn't gonna get you anywhere in this world, my little neophyte hustler.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Here, the first one's free: If you want to rake in the cash, you have to make people feel like they *know* you. Find someone with more money than sense, endear yourself -- then kiss the ring. Really *slobber* on that thing. Make 'em think they could get their money back tenfold -- but be charming enough they wouldn't mind if they didn't.

SUGGESTION [Challenging: Success] - Him? Charming? This is gonna be tough...

  1. Okay -- how do I be *charming*?
  2. But rich people don't live here! What am I going to do?
  3. Thanks, ultra-fancy tare bag! (Leave the bag be. -- for now.)

YOU - Okay -- how do I be *charming*?

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Ah ah ah -- I said the *first* one's free. If you want more hot tips, you're gonna need to buy me first. Chop chop!

REACTION SPEED [Challenging: Success] - You should buy her soon. Commodities like this don't last -- they already stole that guy's armour, didn't they?

  1. Okay -- how do I be *charming*?
  2. But rich people don't live here! What am I going to do?
  3. Thanks, ultra-fancy tare bag! (Leave the bag be. -- for now.)

YOU - But rich people don't live here! What am I going to do?

SHIVERS [Easy: Success] - A gust of chill air blows past your face and over your shoulders. Down the street, past the crater where the old men play ball -- around the bend where books are displayed, flowing over the cracked ceramic tiles...

SHIVERS - A timeless woman sips hot chocolate from a thermos, pulling her coat tighter with the other hand. She considers retiring to her quarters -- but she knows she wouldn't be able to sleep. There's too much on the line for her wandering mind to still.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - It sounds like you got lucky: scam an out of towner! You're on you own for that one, but I'm sure you can manage.

  1. Okay -- how do I be *charming*?
  2. But rich people don't live here! What am I going to do?
  3. Thanks, ultra-fancy tare bag! (Leave the bag be. -- for now.)

YOU - Thanks, ultra-fancy tare bag! (Leave the bag be. -- for now.)

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - The bag is silent. It shudders gently in the wind.

KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant coughs into a closed fist. He has become increasingly concerned over the past few minutes of your intense negotiations with this bag.

SIILENG - "So, do you have a payment plan in mind, officer?" The peddler is unconcerned with your negotiations with the bag.

AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - Not unconcerned -- *proud*. He's finally acknowledging your prowess.

INLAND EMPIRE - And the carrier's prowess. He's proud of it too.

  5. "How the hell am I supposed to get the money for this? This isn't fair!"
  6. Pssst, Carrie' -- you got any more *advice* for me?
  7. [Locked: ✤ 159.00] "I'd *love* to have that sleek, sleek carrier bag, please and thank you."
  8. [Leave.]

YOU - [Leave.]

JOYCE MESSIER - "You're back. Good." She takes a sip from her silvery thermal cup. "What can I help you with?"

SAVOIR FAIRE [Trivial: Success] - Here's our rich out-of-towner -- the blue whale on the horizon! Pull the moves on her, create some charm for yourself!

VOLITION [Easy: Success] - By 'pulling the moves', do you mean 'asking for rent money'? I really hope you do.

  1. "You're on a boat."
  2. "Tell me about Wild Pines. What do you do?"
  3. "What can you tell me about this strike?"
  4. "I've got some more questions about *reality*."
  5. [Locked] Say it: "Can I have some money?"
  6. [Suggestion - Challenging 12] Ask for money -- but with *charm*.
  7. "Thank you. That's all for now." [Leave.]

YOU - Ask for money -- but with *charm*.

-1 Indirect Taxation disapproves.

+1 The Carrier approves

+1 Disco holdover

-1 Wearing The Expression

+1 Finger guns on standby

-2 Messed up the pickup line

CHECK SUCCESS

SUGGESTION [Challenging: Success] - See, you have to come at this from a different angle entirely. Don't make it a *business* thing, make it a *personal* thing -- she's just lending some cash to a friend down on his luck.

  1. "Hey, can I get real for a second? I feel like I haven't been *real* enough so far."

YOU - "Hey, can I get real for a second? I feel like I haven't been *real* enough so far."

KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant draws his pen away from his notebook, shooting a pointed glance in your direction.

ESPRIT DE CORPS [Easy: Success] - I can't tell if this is a new tactic or something dangerously unrelated. Please let it be the former.

HALF LIGHT [Medium: Success] - Can't it be both?

JOYCE MESSIER - "Oh -- are you sure? I think we've both been very 'real' so far, officer."

  1. "You have no *idea* how real I can get. And it's about to get even *more* real, *right now*."
  2. "Nothing is real. All that you see is merely smoke and mirrors struck into the soil. Soon it will blow away like a candle in midnight's embrace."
  3. "You may have a point -- I don't even know what counts as 'real' anymore. But things are about to get more... something."

YOU - "You may have a point -- I don't even know what counts as 'real' anymore. But things are about to get more... something."

JOYCE MESSIER - A small chuckle escapes her lips. "Something? I must say I'm a big fan of 'something' -- more entertaining than nothing, less tedious than everything."

EMPATHY [Easy: Success] - Genuine mirth shines in her aged features. You've thrown her for a loop.

SUGGESTION - And we're in. You can ask now -- just pepper it in like it isn't important in the slightest.

  1. But this feels nice. Do I have to ruin it by shaking her down?
  2. "Here it is, the *something*: I have *no idea* how I'm gonna make it to the end of the day, let alone tomorrow."
  3. "I *love* something! I'm basically the king of somethings -- and you know, I could get a lot more somethings cooking if I had a little something something, y'know?"

YOU - But this feels nice. Do I have to ruin it by shaking her down?

RHETORIC [Easy: Success] - Are you serious? She's rich enough to buy God. This isn't 'ruining' anything -- she'd hardly miss whatever you manage to fleece.

EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - Come on, you can make your money some other way. Probably from less friendly people.

COMPOSURE [Legendary: Failure] - The longer you think about this, the more likely it is your throat locks up. Either say it or back off.

  1. "...Aaaactually -- nevermind. I'm terrible at being real, or something, or whatever I was talking about here. Maybe we can go back to talking about other things, like strikes and murders." [Back off.]
  2. "Here it is, the *something*: I have *no idea* how I'm gonna make it to the end of the day, let alone tomorrow."
  3. "I *love* something! I'm basically the king of somethings -- and you know, I could get a lot more somethings cooking if I had a little something something, y'know?"

YOU - "I *love* something! I'm basically the king of somethings -- and you know, I could get a lot more somethings cooking if I had a little something something, y'know?"

JOYCE MESSIER - "Oh, of course detective. Everyone needs a little 'something something' from time to time." She nods with immediate understanding.

JOYCE MESSIER - "So how much 'something' do you need for these somethings?"

DRAMA [Medium: Success] - She's curious to see what comes of this. It will be worthwhile no matter what price you ask.

INLAND EMPIRE - It *will* be. For you, at least.

  1. "Ten somethings."
  2. "Fifty somethings."
  3. "A... *Khm*. A hundred and fifty nine somethings, and not a something more!"
  4. "A hundred somethings. Nice and boring number."
  5. "Every something I can get my hands on. I'm trying to come up with *everything*, you see."

YOU - "A... *Khm*. A hundred and fifty nine somethings, and not a something more!"

REACTION SPEED [Medium: Success] - It takes a beat for the lieutenant to realize the significance of the number. There's a glower to his expression now.

RHETORIC [Easy: Success] - He's actually tuned in to this nonsense? Uh oh.

SUGGESTION - You could've asked for more! There's nothing saying you need to get *exact* change.

CONCEPTUALIZATION [Challenging: Success] - It wouldn't be *fair* to shake her down for extra. You have principles, *somewhere* -- hardcoded a long time ago.

JOYCE MESSIER - "That seems amenable. A very... *specific* amount of somethings, to be sure." She reaches into her raincoat and pulls out a zip bag -- in it you see paper notes arranged like black gills.

JOYCE MESSIER - She gathers a few notes, holding them out -- but stops before you can grab them.

JOYCE MESSIER - "I don't suppose you could elaborate on the something you plan to finance with this fat stack of somethings?"

SUGGESTION - See? You should've been *vaguer*. Blurry lines are harder to read.

  1. "I need to buy an upgrade to my bag. This one's filthy and lower-class." (Show her your bag.)
  2. "Do I *have* to? It's kind of a surprise..."
  3. [Drama - Legendary 14] Lie.
  4. Where the fuck is the option to back out?! I don't want her to think I'm some sort of con-artist!

YOU - "Do I *have* to? It's kind of a surprise..."

AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - You don't *have* to do anything. Whatever you *deign* to do will be by your will alone.

JOYCE MESSIER - "I'm afraid so, Detective." She speaks in a measured tone. "I can't have some gratuitous investment reflecting poorly on me -- the Wild Pines company aren't a fan of their negotiators handing out money, you see."

AUTHORITY - Nevermind. You have to tell her. This money is within her domain.

YOU - Where the fuck is the option to back out?! I don't want her to think I'm some sort of con-artist!

SUGGESTION - You *are* a con-artist. You are the *conniest*-artist.

SAVOIR FAIRE [Medium: Success] - If raising capital is an art form, then *you* are an *artisan*.

VOLITION [Challenging: Success] - If you *don't* want to be a con-artist, then just admit it. You can salvage this with some shame. It's a normal, human reaction.

SUGGESTION - Nonsense. Shame is obsolete for a con-artisan like you.

  1. "I need to buy an upgrade to my bag. This one's filthy and lower-class." (Show her your bag.)
  2. "I, well -- I *wanted* a luxury carrier bag, okay? I don't have a lot going for me right now and a fancy bag sounded nice..."
  3. "Do I *have* to? It's kind of a surprise..."
  4. [Drama - Legendary 14] Lie.
  5. Where the fuck is the option to back out?! I don't want her to think I'm some sort of con-artist!

YOU - Lie.

+1 Con-Artisan

-1 *Have* to tell her

-2 Resurgent shame impulses

CHECK FAILURE

DRAMA [Legendary: Failure] - The eccentricities of the upper class are boundless. You need to come up with something *extravagantly* bizarre, even for you.

  1. "I'm starting an orphanage for the financially impaired. It's sort of a guild of thieves situation -- we take aspiring street urchins and give them all the skills they need to really come into their own, you know? You won't have to worry about it of course -- they'll only be pickpocketing and shivving the common folk."

YOU - "I'm starting an orphanage for the financially impaired. It's sort of a guild of thieves situation -- we take aspiring street urchins and give them all the skills they need to really come into their own, you know? You won't have to worry about it of course -- they'll only be pickpocketing and shivving the common folk."

JOYCE MESSIER - "An orphanage? Well, I suppose you are sanctioned by the Coalition -- at least if you are who you say you are. I'm surprised you're asking for such a low sum for such a lofty endeavor. You'd think an orphanage would take a little more than pocket change to get up and running."

RHETORIC [Easy: Success] - She thinks hundreds of reál is *pocket change*. And people like this are trusted with unfathomable corporate power...

DRAMA - The morals don't matter -- what matters is that she bought it. Keep bullshitting your way out of this, it's too late to quit now!

  1. "I'm starting small. I get *one* orphan, set him up with some tools and some training, then we start rolling the profits back into the venture -- with exponential growth, I expect to be a trillionaire by the end of the month."

YOU - "I'm starting small. I get *one* orphan, set him up with some tools and some training, then we start rolling the profits back into the venture -- with exponential growth, I expect to be a trillionaire by the end of the month."

JOYCE MESSIER - "I don't suppose you mean that freckled child throwing stones at our distinguished murder victim? The one you've been talking to?"

REACTION SPEED [Challenging: Success] - How did she know you've been talking with him? She can't see the courtyard from here.

RHETORIC [Medium: Success] - 'Distinguished'? That sounds right for someone clad in futuristic armour.

  1. "How do you even know that kid exists? I thought you were just standing around on this boat every hour of the day."
  2. "Wha-- no! No, of course not! He's not even an orphan. His dad's comatose, but that still doesn't count!"
  3. "Yeah, that's the one! He's got the skills for it, trust me. This is a solid investment. I can even cut you in!"

YOU - "Wha-- no! No, of course not! He's not even an orphan. His dad's comatose, but that still doesn't count!"

JOYCE MESSIER - "Then surely you mean the child on the fence right next to him? My contacts even referred to it as an orphan."

HALF LIGHT [Medium: Success] - *NO*. Not that one. Do *not* strike *any* kind of pact with that hellspawn.

  1. "Yeah! The other one! That's exactly who I have in mind. Pretty sure she could tear right through coinpurses with her bare hands, no sweat."
  2. "Actually, you were right the first time. Cuno's the orphan for the job. He probably won't even stab me in the back like the other gremlin would."
  3. "You're assuming it has to be a local orphan -- what, do you have a problem with *foreign* orphans, huh?"

YOU - "Actually, you were right the first time. Cuno's the orphan for the job. He probably won't even stab me in the back like the other gremlin would."

JOYCE MESSIER - "Of course it is." She begins loading the cash back into her raincoat.

DRAMA - Wait, what? No! Your deceit was flawless, my liege. Why is she retreating?

SAVOIR FAIRE [Easy: Success] - How the fuck did you manage to blow an easy one-fifty real? No wonder you woke up poor. You should've paid the carrier for more advice.

JOYCE MESSIER - "For the record, detective -- I won't be complicit in funding children's drug habits. No matter what value you think it may hold to this investigation." Her expression carries no trace of hostility.

LOGIC [Medium: Failure] - Who said anything about drugs?

KIM KITSURAGI - Before the spoils can be tucked back away into the folds of her coat, the lieutenant speaks up. "Excuse me, ma'am. My partner here is not founding an orphanage, thievery-oriented or otherwise."

EMPATHY [Legendary: Failure] - There's a certain terseness to the way he corrects you -- what could it mean?

KIM KITSURAGI - "If you must know -- based on the amount, I believe he's currently in the market for..." He trails off, then sighs. "A luxury handbag. One that looks remarkably like a piece of litter."

JOYCE MESSIER - "Is that so?" She studies the lieutenant's features, followed by your own.

JOYCE MESSIER - "..."

SHIVERS [Challenging: Success] - There's a mall across the river, nestled between an overpass and a branch office for a high-volume financing company. People with more money than friends flock there by the hundreds, filling empty spaces with gifts and empty eyes with sparkles. A woman hands her daughter an oversized plush animal outside the display window of a Merveilles -- she will discard it in less than a week, but until then? Bliss.

JOYCE MESSIER - "...Well, I see no harm in indulging an overspending habit. Here you go." She holds the cash out once more, not withdrawing her hand.

  1. "Wow, really? Thanks!" [Grab the reál, for real this time.]

YOU - "Wow, really? Thanks!" [Grab the reál, for *real* this time.]

MONEY GAINED

+ 159.00 REÁL

JOYCE MESSIER - "Now, with that utterly unnecessary business concluded," she returns the zip bag to her jacket. "Is there anything else you need, officer?"

AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - A spectacled set of eyes weigh heavy on your temple. You get the distinct feeling another eyebrow deployment may be imminent if you don't stop this particular brand of antics.

  1. "That was all. Thank you for your time." [Leave.]
  2. "That was all. Thank you for your time -- and *money*." [Throw her some finger guns, then leave.]
  3. "There is some *very necessary* business I'd like to ask about, actually."

YOU - "That was all. Thank you for your time -- and *money*." [Throw her some finger guns, then leave.]

PERCEPTION (HEARING) [Challenging: Success] - As you turn to leave, you can hear the barest hint of a chuckle being swallowed by the waves.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - The pristine tare bag still seems to sparkle despite the sun having long set.

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Trivial: Success] - Wait. Something's wrong.

  1. What is it?

YOU - What is it?

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) - The logo and the coloration of this bag are different -- instead of yellow with a Frittte crown, it's now slate blue with an obnoxious FALN logo splayed across the front. This isn't the same bag at all!

INTERFACING [Challenging: Success] - It may as well be. It's less like you're looking at a different bag -- more the same bag with a new skin. This one has all the same specifications, just with a new flavour of *brand recognition*.

COMPOSURE [Easy: Success] - It might be a bit tacky on its own, but it would look great as part of a set...

SIILENG - "Welcome back, officer!" The vendor speaks up. "Like what you see? Brand new bag -- *no* copies here."

  1. "Hold on -- I thought you only had one of these?"
  2. "Yeah, yeah -- I'm digging this one a lot more than the last one. FALN, now *there's* a company with some *heft*."
  3. "Honestly? I'm a little disappointed. That other bag spoke to my *soul*. This sleek aesthetic just isn't doing it for me."

YOU - "Hold on -- I thought you only had one of these?"

SIILENG - "I did! And then someone bought it while you were gone -- but don't you worry! I got a new one just for you! Just as tough as the last one -- *pristine* condition."

LOGIC [Medium: Failure] - People buying things from a shop? Checks out -- at least somebody here must have some kind of cash.

KIM KITSURAGI - "I doubt anyone around here would buy something so hilariously overpriced." He offhandedly glances at the pawn shop across the street.

COMPOSURE [Challenging: Success] - He's upset by this. Not a lot -- not enough to crack through his armour. But it's there, and it's only getting worse as it looks more likely you'll actually make a purchase. His observations get just a little more acidic.

SIILENG - "Overpriced?!" The man looks like he's been shot. "Of course not! People brought it because they want good carrier bags in a rough-and-tumble neighbourhood. Nothing odd there, officer."

KIM KITSURAGI - He does not reply, simply staring down the roadside vendor with a withering look. The secondhand judgement is palpable.

LOGIC [Trivial: Success] - On second thought -- Kim has a point. This isn't the kind of place where people buy *luxury goods*. He must've swapped it out for you -- but where's the other bag?

SIILENG - The vendor sits quietly, waiting for your answer. It's as though the exchange with the lieutenant simply didn't happen.

  1. "Hold on -- I thought you only had one of these?"
  2. [Perception (Sight) - Medium 10] But really -- where did that other bag go?
  3. "Yeah, yeah -- I'm digging this one a lot more than the last one. FALN, now *there's* a company with some *heft*."
  4. "Honestly? I'm a little disappointed. That other bag spoke to my *soul*. This sleek aesthetic just isn't doing it for me."

YOU - But really -- where did that other bag go?

CHECK SUCCESS

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - If you just shuffle one step to the left, lean forward on your toes...

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) - There -- you can see past the lip of the crate where the lid has been slid over near the back. Inside are *dozens* of bags -- maybe hundreds. Packed together like sardines without any additional protective layers.

ABYSS OF ETERNAL CARRIERS (TRADEMARKED) - Within the confines of the crate, brands and colours blend without distinction. A slate blue, a shining yellow, some horrid amalgamation that looks vaguely green... there is no end to the variations.

HORRIFIC NECKTIE - Dear *god*, there's so many of them! You aren't going to get *more* of these boring business bags, are you bratan? You'll never spend it on anything *fun* ever again.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Challenging: Success] - You could buy a lot of *fun* for a hundred-sixty. That's at least a few hours with one of the better hookers this side of town. Or cheap out and throw in some blow!

INLAND EMPIRE [Medium: Success] - In this mass of experimental fabric you see it: a truly equal society. One where everyone has at least one hundred and fifty nine reál to their name.

RHETORIC [Medium: Success] - Still too extravagant. Put them to the fire, let all that money *burn*.

SIILENG - "Officer? Are you okay?" You are suddenly dragged back from the abyss, aware you've been staring at a wooden crate for a solid two minutes now. He hasn't noticed your discovery.

  1. "Hey, what are you doing with more bags in this crate? You told me you only had the *one*! I'm pretty sure I even saw another Frittte bag in there!"
  2. "Yeah, yeah -- I'm digging this one a lot more than the last one. FALN, now *there's* a company with some *heft*."
  3. "Honestly? I'm a little disappointed. That other bag spoke to my *soul*. This sleek aesthetic just isn't doing it for me."

YOU - "Hey, what are you doing with more bags in this crate? You told me you only had the *one*! I'm pretty sure I even saw another Frittte bag in there!"

SIILENG - "Wha-- Oooh, I see! You want to look at my *exclusive* stock! I don't normally show this to just anyone -- but *you* are more than just an 'anyone', officer!" He quickly moves aside the lid to the crate, letting you get a better look at the contents therewithin.

ABYSS OF ETERNAL CARRIERS (TRADEMARKED) - All the colors of the bag-filled cosmos swim through your vision. You can pick now -- what will it be, champ?

  1. "Actually -- could I have the first one back? Crowny there had some good advice for me." [Pick a yellow Frittte bag.]
  2. "Thought about it and realized I like this one the best anyway." [Pick a slate blue FALN bag.]
  3. "This one may actually fit my deranged sense of style. I'm a fan of the green, if you didn't notice." [Pick a muddled green bag with a wispy branding.]
  4. "This one looks like a mace. Could do with a weapon on the job..." [Pick a light red bag with sharp branding.]
  5. "This one reminds me of royalty and blow. Score!" [Pick a striking purple bag with suggestive branding.]
  6. "Hey, Kim, this one matches your jacket!" [Pick an orange one with blocky branding.]
  7. "Can't I buy multiple?"

YOU - "Can't I buy multiple?"

VOLITION [Trivial: Success] - No.

ENDURANCE [Trivial: Success] - Nope.

SAVOIR FAIRE [Trivial: Success] - Logistically speaking -- no.

CONCEPTUALIZATION [Trivial: Success] - *Heavens* no! How do you expect it to say anything about you if you have a *dozen* of them?

SIILENG - "All yours, friend! As long as you have enough--"

KIM KITSURAGI - "*No*. Even if he had thousands of reál to burn, it would be better spent toward important things like *housing* and *food*."

ENDURANCE - Your stomach grumbles. When was the last time you ate, anyway? You could go for something hearty.

YOU - "Actually -- could I have the first one back? Crowny there had some good advice for me." [Pick a yellow Frittte bag.]

VOLITION - Oh, so you'll listen to a store prop with a crown on it -- but not your conscience?

SAVOIR FAIRE - Goody two shoes aren't cool. You know what's cool? Corporate exploitation!

SIILENG - "Sure thing! Got another *just* for you!" He reaches into the endless void of recognisables, and pulls out a familiar looking crowned one.

DRAMA [Medium: Success] - He's still not giving up the lie? God, maybe someone actually *did* buy one of these. Someone who isn't you.

INLAND EMPIRE - No, this *has* to be the same bag. You had a good rapport going and everything...

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Only the best! Ooh, looks like you picked up some *dosh* -- you ready to close the deal, kid?

INLAND EMPIRE - See? What did I tell you.

  1. [Examine the bag more closely.]
  2. "Why would I buy this, I have a bag just like it already!" (Show him your tare bag.)
  3. "Actually -- could I get another look at some of those *alternatives* again?" (Open the crate.)
  4. "Y'know Dyneema is a weird choice for a bag. Sure, it's tear resistant and won't stretch, but it'll wear through about as fast as plastic would."
  5. "Where'd you get this from? This crate looks different than the others."
  6. Pssst, Carrie' -- you got any more *advice* for me?
  7. [Cost: ✤ 159.00] "I'd *love* to have that sleek, sleek carrier bag, please and thank you."
  8. [Leave.]

YOU - "Where'd you get this from? This crate looks different than the others."

SIILENG - "Oh, this?" He slaps the side of the container full of bags. "This here is limited edition stock from a fancy overseas manufacturer -- ZA/UM!"

ENCYCLOPEDIA [Challenging: Success] - Not quite true. ZA/UM (yes, the backslash is part of the branding) is a vast pharmaceuticals and holdings company headquartered in the Vespertine capital of Occasus. ZA/UM / *Atelier* is a high demand workshop run out of a former studio in Igaunija, frequently taking outsourced collaborations with companies such as FALN, Joopson and Mitrundi.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Heroic: Success] - Also -- and you didn't hear this from me -- word on the streets is that they fumbled a shipment of some *experimental psychotheraputic drugs*, and there's a couple hundred brand-name doses of the stuff in the hands of the sketchier dealers.

INLAND EMPIRE [Medium: Success] - A key to the inner world.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY - Word on the street is *also* that anyone who looks into this ends up missing, and that ZA/UM has several private security subsidiaries across Elysium -- so maybe don't bring that up on a public streetcorner.

KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant gives no reaction to the name.

COMPOSURE [Easy: Success] - Either he's unfamiliar or it's so ubiquitous it's not much of a boast.

  1. "That's cool, but I meant where did *you* get this crate? Did it fall off the back of a truck or what?"
  2. "You mean *Atelier*, right? ZA/UM is just some rich Vesper company that owns a bit of everything. They don't make clothes."
  3. "Oh, you got this from ZA/UM? Hey. Do you maybe, uh -- have some psycho drugs on you I could take a hit from?"
  4. [Electrochemistry - Impossible 18] Ask for the hookup on the *down low*.
  5. "Wow, cool company name! It's got a slash and everything! That answers my question, thank you."

YOU - "You mean *Atelier*, right? ZA/UM is just some rich Vesper company that owns a bit of everything. They don't make clothes."

SIILENG - "Oh, they make all *sorts* of things. Clothes, snacks, cars, *the future of electronic entertainment*..."

SIILENG - "These bags are just one small piece of everything -- a *very cool* piece."

KIM KITSURAGI - "The Linnea line of motor carriages really dipped in quality after its manufacturer was bought out." He speaks with faint disdain. "And 'electronic entertainment'? That has nothing to do with cheap bags."

INTERFACING [Medium: Success] - *Electronic entertainment*? Sounds futuristic -- and not very marketable. To most people, radiocomputers are clunky pieces of shit that make strange noises and foster antisocial tendencies. (Not true, obviously.) If it hasn't been defunded it must be something *good*.

ENCYCLOPEDIA [Heroic: Failure] - You think you've heard grumblings about *something* or other. Something with locusts? It doesn't sound very technical.

  1. "Electronic entertainment? What kind of electronic entertainment?"
  2. "Sounds like it's some megaconglomerate that buys out novel and innovative businesses to squeeze out every last drop of profit before discarding them to irrelevancy."
  3. "Okay, okay, they make a lot of things. Sure. Let's just credit *them* and not any of those hardworking subsidiaries they'll shutter after a couple bad months."
  4. "God, these guys sound so cool -- and rich. Very, very rich."
  5. "Cool, so... do you *know* anyone from ZA/UM? Are they hiring? This whole cop thing's been a bit of a drag for me. I want a *future*, y'know?"
  6. "Wow, my brain *really* wants me to have an opinion on this. Real hot button issue."

YOU - "Wow, my brain *really* wants me to have an opinion on this. Real hot button issue."

INLAND EMPIRE [Medium: Success] - Something about this feels personal. Like it's a reflection of your own existence.

SAVOIR FAIRE [Trivial: Success] - It is? *Very* good. Aligning your brain with big guys like this is *exactly* what you need to get far in this world.

RHETORIC [Trivial: Success] - Align *with*? Don't listen to that dancing freak, you don't want anything to do with these soulless plutocrats.

SIILENG - "That's a normal reaction to being able to purchase merchandise like *this*, officer."

YOU - "Sounds like it's some megaconglomerate that buys out novel and innovative businesses to squeeze out every last drop of profit before discarding them to irrelevancy."

SIILENG - "Whoa, officer!" The businessman squirms in his seat. "We don't need to be so *negative*! This is good, high quality product! There's nothing wrong with that!"

SUGGESTION [Medium: Success] - He's defensive about this subject, for this company, for some reason he cannot describe.

CONCEPTUALIZATION [Medium: Success] - He owns their products -- that's endorsement enough. He is of their banner, their creed -- and he feels like he's *obligated*.

HALF LIGHT [Easy: Success] - *Fuck* him, fuck *all* of this -- if he wants to die on this sword then he *will*.

  1. "Oh, so you're their *bitch*? You own their shit, so they own *YOU*? IS THAT HOW IT IS?!"
  2. [Rhetoric - Challenging 12] Explain to Siileng why he's wrong and why you're right.
  3. [Establish superiority of the working class -- punch him in the nose.]
  4. "Yeah, you're probably right. I've had enough negativity in my life so far. You can root for your soulless corporation, I won't stop you."

YOU - [Establish superiority of the working class -- punch him in the nose.]

HALF LIGHT - You tense your shoulder, ready to pull back and rip into this fucker with a nasty hook--

REACTION SPEED [Godly: Failure] - Not fast enough. A surprisingly strong grip grabs hold of your shoulder.

ESPRIT DE CORPS [Medium: Success] - To anyone paying attention, this appears to be a reassuring gesture. Not at all like your partner just stopped you from assaulting a dubiously innocent scalper.

KIM KITSURAGI - "It's infuriating, yes, I agree -- we should move on, officer. There's very little worth considering here that you haven't already bought."

ESPRIT DE CORPS - He'll have some words for you about this later.

SIILENG - Oblivious to your violent impulse, the bagmonger chuckles. "Okay, okay -- I see how it is, officer. Just for you, *one* time only -- a seven percent discount! You're getting the deal of the century now. Maybe even the millennium!"

LOGIC [Challenging: Failure] - Seven percent of a hundred and fifty nine... that's pretty much ten reál, right? That sounds right.

INLAND EMPIRE [Easy: Success] - It's a lucky number. A blessing in disguise.

  7. [Cost: ✤ 149.00] "I'd *love* to have that sleek, sleek carrier bag, please and thank you."
  8. [Leave.]

YOU - "I'd *love* to have that sleek, sleek carrier bag, please and thank you."

KIM KITSURAGI - The same hand that rests on your shoulder tightens its hold.

PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT [Easy: Success] - He's not as wiry as he looks. There's some muscle there -- not as much as you, but still pretty respectable.

KIM KITSURAGI - "I wouldn't normally weigh in on matters of *high-fashion*, officer -- but I feel like you're failing to remember the other pressing issue here that this money would be better spent on."

  1. "Kim, come on. Stop cramping my style!"
  2. "Pressing issue? What *kind* of pressing issue? This whole bag thing seems like priority numero uno to me."
  3. "Oh, yeah. The crippling debt. Almost forgot, whoops." (Don't buy the bag.)

YOU - "Kim, come on. Stop cramping my style!"

KIM KITSURAGI - "Your style, yes. Does this style include criticizing the ethics of the manufacturing sector and then buying ridiculously expensive plastic bags anyway?"

RHETORIC - *Yes*! You were literally about to punch someone over this, it *has* to be important to you.

SAVOIR FAIRE - *NO*! You can't get anywhere with an attitude like that. You're a top of the line money engineer who's going to bring in more cash than they can ever tax. Don't listen to that guy, all he'll get you is a dead end job writing manifestos for a leftist magizine where you miss rent repeatedly and then kill yourself.

PAIN THRESHOLD [Challenging: Success] - That doesn't sound so bad.

  1. Wait -- who's telling the truth here?

YOU - Wait -- who's telling the truth here?

VOLITION [Easy: Success] - Both of them, apparently. But what does that *mean*?

  1. "Kim, do you know where I could submit a manifesto? I feel like I have a calling to write politically reactionary literature."
  2. "Yeah! Exactly. If you wanna go far, you have to be *flexible* -- I'm playing both sides so I always win."
  3. "Huh. I guess you're right. Maybe I *don't* need a luxury bag..." (Don't buy the bag.)

YOU - "Yeah! Exactly. If you wanna go far, you have to be *flexible* -- I'm playing both sides so I always win."

KIM KITSURAGI - "And you would call this *winning*?"

DAMAGED MORALE -1

KIM KITSURAGI - He looks as though he'll go on -- but he stops.

COMPOSURE [Medium: Success] - Caught himself before he could grill you any further. He didn't mean to get so invested in this.

ESPRIT DE CORPS [Challenging: Success] - In the midst of a legendary traffic jam on Rue Saint-Cispare, Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi of the 57th looks solemnly past an unkempt man, towards his patrol and pursuit vehicle.

ESPRIT DE CORPS - In the transport enclosure shine four silver hubcaps, confiscated two weeks ago from the son of a middle-ranking Coalition official driving under the influence. For days on end as he's worked his post, he's imagined their iridescent edges installed on his patrol vehicle...

ESPRIT DE CORPS - And then he does his best to discard that image. Instead, he consigns himself to handing them over for a modest sum of cash that'll never afford a replacement -- but can afford to cover damages for a shoddy hostel room. It's not the first time the RCM will use evidence to pay off debts -- and it won't be the last.

EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - It has to be done -- but it's a personal loss to him. One he'll never get back.

SAVOIR FAIRE - Hear that? He's gonna spot you for your hotel room! That means you're in the clear. Go for it!

  1. (Sigh.) "No. No, it doesn't. Thanks for talking some sense into me, I almost made a stupid mistake." (Don't buy the bag.)
  2. [Cost: ✤ 149.00] "This is *my* cash, Kim. It isn't your problem." (Buy the bag.)

YOU - "This is *my* cash, Kim. It isn't your problem." (Buy the bag.)

MONEY LOST

- 149.00 REÁL

Item gained: Eternal Carrier (Trademarked)

SIILENG - "Here you go, officer!" The silence is broken as he stands up and hands you the bag. Its weight is barely noticeable in your hand.

HAND/EYE COORDINATION - Ooh, the polyester is *really* making a difference.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - You actually did it? *And* you've got someone else to be a safety net and cover your ass?

SAVOIR FAIRE - *And* he's up ten bucks!

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - *Excellent*! Excellent. You have *officially* passed the first trial on the road to Financial Domination, young apprentice.

Secret task complete: Trial of Consumerism

HORRIFIC NECKTIE - Trials?! Don't believe this shit, bratan -- next trial is going to be buying a suit! And going to *board rooms* where they don't do drugs or alcohol or hire strippers.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Challenging: Success] - That's *exactly* where the party happens. You can't be a corpo without being hooked on *something*. Usually coke.

HORRIFIC NECKTIE - You're going to throw your tie out for a shitty red one and spend your life getting it on with lines of print! And *they're* going to be red too -- because you don't know fucking maths!

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Maths? You don't need maths -- you have *personality* and *charm* and *recognisable characteristics*! You'll be the richest man alive with me at your side.

  1. So what happens now?
  2. I don't want any of your damn trials, I just bought you to look *cool*. (Reject the trials.)

YOU - So what happens now?

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Now begins the second trial -- you got one over on the rich lady and the street seller, but that's peanuts compared to the *big time*. You're going to schmooze and bribe your way into the major leagues.

LOGIC [Easy: Success] - There's only one organization around here that could be considered 'big time'.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Exactamundo. You're gonna embezzle the *hell* out of that dock union.

  1. But why would I do that? It sounds risky.
  2. I don't want any of your damn trials, I just bought you to look *cool*. (Reject the trials.)
  3. *Hell* yes. These union guys suck anyways -- that racist fucker crushed my hand. (Accept the trials.)

YOU - But why would I do that? It sounds risky.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Look at you, asking questions -- you're a real detective, ain'tcha?

ESPRIT DE CORPS [Trivial: Success] - Yes.

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Alright, alright, how about this for some *motivation*: If you can scrape together the cash to pay off that small-time *cafeteria manager*, you won't have to burn your support network so soon. Always want to leave the personal contacts for last when you're calling favors and pointing fingers.

EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - Kim could scrape together the funds to pay for your room, but it would be at great cost to his person. Wouldn't it be better if you could handle this yourself?

VOLITION [Medium: Success] - This investigation isn't going to be over by tomorrow. You're an adult -- you can pay for your own goddamn room, on time, *every* day. It's either that or homelessness.

  1. But why would I do that? It sounds risky.
  2. I don't want any of your damn trials, I just bought you to look *cool*. (Reject the trials.)
  3. *Hell* yes. These union guys suck anyways -- that racist fucker crushed my hand. (Accept the trials.)
  4. Self-sufficiency -- what a concept! I think I can pull it off, let's go. (Accept the trials.)

YOU - Self-sufficiency -- what a concept! I think I can pull it off, let's go. (Accept the trials.)

New task: Trial of Embezzlement

ETERNAL CARRIER (TRADEMARKED) - Atta boy! We'll make a proper businessman of you yet.

KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant has turned away from you, observing the men playing ball across the street in lieu of watching you commune with your tare bag.

PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Challenging: Success] - Gaston is winning, if the anger on René's face is any indication.

PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT [Easy: Success] - No, that's what he usually looks like. Maybe he thinks it looks *fierce* instead of constipated.

  1. "Hey, don't worry Kim -- I'm gonna get it all back and *more*. Save the spinners for the ride out of this place."
  2. [Leave.]

YOU - "Hey, don't worry Kim -- I'm gonna get it all back and *more*. Save the spinners for the ride out of this place."

KIM KITSURAGI - "What?" He breaks from his reverie. "But I didn't mention..."

KIM KITSURAGI - "..."

KIM KITSURAGI - "Nevermind. I'm sure I must've brought it up before. Let's just go."
