Work Text:

Today felt a little different than usual. Instead of being buried in paperwork and endless tasks, Hyunjae was greeted by the soft sea breeze and the strong scent of salt in the air.

He stood quietly on the villa's balcony, staring blankly at the beach in front of him. A man and a little boy were playing near the shoreline, and the sight pulled a small smile to his lips. He knew those two a little too well.

Turning away from the balcony, Hyunjae made his way toward them. The setting sun made his blond hair shine even brighter, catching the light in a way that almost made him glow. He flashed a cheeky smile at the two, only to be met with a pair of unimpressed glares.

“Dad, why is he always bothering us...” the boy whined.

Han Yoojin chuckled and ruffled Sung Hangyeol’s hair. “He doesn’t have any friends.”

Hyunjae laughed at Yoojin’s words. “Your dad’s right.”

He leaned down and rested his head on Yoojin’s shoulder, looping an arm around his waist. “So… can I borrow your dad for a bit?”

Before anyone could answer, he buried his face deeper into the crook of Yoojin’s neck. Hangyeol stomped his foot in protest.

“Dad always picks him over me!” He shouted in dissapointment when he saw his dad gave in to Hyunjae.

The boy crossed his arms and looked away with a dramatic pout, making the two men laugh softly.

“Gyeol-ah, come here, he’s just teasing, join us.” Yoojin called gently.

Still pouting, Gyeol turned away and wandered closer to the shore. His soft pink-gold hair shimmered in the light, so much like his dad’s. Yoojin felt his heart melt at how similar they looked.

“Not too far, okay, Gyeol? I’m not in the mood to get soaked today!” Yoojin called after him.

The boy gave a tiny nod in response.

“Why are you like this” Yoojin mumbled to the man clinging to him.

“I also want to spend some time with Yoojin-gun” Hyunjae replied, eyes meeting Yoojin’s for a second before something in the distance caught his peripheral vision, Hangyeol playing near the water, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

“What? That smile was weird” Yoojin said, trying to wriggle out of the hug.

“Yoojin-ah” Hyunjae whispered his name, tightening his arms around him. Then, without warning, he lifted Yoojin off the ground and started walking toward the sea.

“Wait- Hyunjae! Don’t you dare!” Yoojin shrieked in panic.

Hangyeol turned back at the noise, worries lighting up his eyes as he ran towards their direction.

“Dad! No!”

The boy’s words fueled Hyunjae, who happily tease both of them. Yoojin let out one final yell before he was dunked into the shallow sea with a splash.

Even after falling, Hyunjae didn’t let go. They ended up sprawled out on the shore, Yoojin on top of him. Hangyeol burst into a dramatic shock expression, seeing his dad treated like a rag doll, then ran over and hugged him.

Both of them were now piled on top of Hyunjae, but of course, he didn’t mind, those two were tiny compared to him. Yoojin laughed freely, his eyes curving like crescent moons.

Hyunjae and Hangyeol paused for a second, quietly admiring the one they both adored. Even if they bickered nonstop, it didn’t matter. Blood doesn’t lie. They were too similar.

“Shouldn't we go back? I’m an F-rank, y’know. I catch colds easily” Yoojin said dramatically, pretending to shiver.

Hyunjae got up and picked them both up, Yoojin thrown over his shoulder like a sack, and Gyeol cradled in his other arm. A real husband material moment.

Their protests went unheard, of course. Hyunjae did whatever he wanted.

“You done with your shower? Go have dinner first,” Hyunjae told Gyeol as the boy stepped out of the bathroom. Gyeol didn’t reply, just stuck out his tongue.

“I showered with Dad” he said, mocking Hyunjae.

Hyunjae could’ve joined too, but he chose to prep dinner and mop up the water trail from their beach adventure instead.

“Well, tonight I’m the one sleeping with him” Hyunjae shot back, putting extra emphasis on the word "I'm".

Gyeol glared furiously at him, his golden eyes shine, eeriely similiar to his.

Their argument paused when Yoojin came out of the bathroom, looking at them both with that classic “what is it this time?” stare.

“You guys haven’t eaten? What are you waiting for?” he asked.

No one answered. Gyeol darted to the table, and Hyunjae followed behind Yoojin, gently towel-drying his damp hair.

All three sat down together.

“Gyeol, say thank you to him” Yoojin prompted, hoping Gyeol would at least show some appreciation.

“But-” Gyeol mumbled, making Hyunjae flash his trademark smirk.

“One...” Yoojin threaten.

Gyeol stared at the dishes for a bit.

“Thank you Hyunjae” he said it quietly, feeling awkward about it.

Hyunjae grinned and ruffled his hair, planting a kiss on his cheek, which sent the boy into a dramatic scream. Very dramatic indeed.

Yoojin smiled watching them, it was such a domestic moment. It’s not every day you see Korea’s top hunter acting like this. It was rare, but precious, for all of them.

That night, Gyeol lay beside Yoojin. He was supposed to sleep in his own bed, but there was no way Yoojin could resist his son’s whining. Gyeol watched his dad’s peaceful face, the subtle rise and fall of his chest, his lashes flickering slightly with each breath. His dad is perfect.

He had a strong urge to bite his dad’s cheek, but he knew he’d get an earful scolding later.

His little moment got cut short when Hyunjae quietly opened the bedroom door. Gyeol shot him a death glare and clung tightly to Yoojin, who was already fast asleep.

“Aren't you going to share?” Hyunjae said as he sat down on the edge of the bed, back still facing the younger one.

Gyeol didn’t respond, holding onto his dad even tighter.

“Sung Gyeol-” Hyunjae called.

Han Gyeol.” the boy corrected, clearly emphasizing Yoojin’s last name.

Hyunjae chuckled. That attitude...he and Yoojin were just too alike. No matter how much they tried to deny it, there was no escaping the fact that Gyeol was definitely their kid. Hyunjae's appearances and Yoojin's attitude.

Hyunjae lay down and gently wrapped an arm around Yoojin, effectively sandwiching Gyeol between them. The boy was just about to complain when Hyunjae placed a large hand over his face.

“Shh. You’ll wake him up. He has a hard time falling back asleep” Hyunjae whispered softly.

Ah… is that why Dad chose him? Gyeol stayed quiet, holding in his protests. He peeked up to steal another glance at Yoojin’s face, then leaned forward to kiss his cheek.

Hyunjae smiled warmly at the sweet scene and leaned down too, brushing his lips against Yoojin’s forehead. “Goodnight, my dear partner” he murmured.

Then he looked over at the grumpy kid still glaring at him and gave Gyeol a quick kiss on the head too, dodging the boy’s swing right after.

The three of them lay on the huge bed, though they were cuddling so close it feels cramped. Hyunjae held both his boys close—Yoojin, exhausted and fast asleep, and Gyeol, nestled safely in the middle.

When he felt both of them breathing steadily, Hyunjae tightened his arms just a bit more, as if scared of letting go. He opened his eyes one last time, just to make sure they were still there.

둘 다 사랑해 ” He whisper softly to both of them.
