The Adventure of a Lifetime

Summary:

Imagine waking up one day, going about as normal, only to be invited to a special gathering by a famous celebrity? Add on that the gathering causes everyone to go on an epic quest to save the world and the ancient God of Creation? And that you've been given warnings about this quest since you could remember?

Welcome to Gemini Tay's world. Once I (the author) am done here, Gem is going to be out of breath.

RIP my sanity for the next year and a half at least.

Notes:

Welcome!

This took me two months to have the courage to write.

You are welcome!

Chapter 1: A New Day

Chapter Text

“A new day. A new chance to be better. Heed my words, child, for a new day is a new chance to find Creation and heal the world of its sins.”

- Aeon Tay, Prophet of Nature

I woke up this morning like it was any other. But it wasn’t. Little did I know this was the day my father believed would start a journey like no other…

Wait a second, I’m getting ahead of myself! You don’t know me, do you? Let me start from the beginning. My name is Gemini Tay. I’m a stag hybrid; for those of you who don’t know, this means I have antlers even if I’m a girl. My father was Aeon Tay, the ‘Prophet of Nature’. No, I don’t know what that means, although it seems like trying to give a seven-year-old life advice. However, my mother died when I was two, so I can’t remember her. I currently work at “Big Ron’s” in Gilded Helenthia, one of the empires, but I one day hope to join a travelling community, like the famous hermits. Nothing to do with Mumbo, my boss. I have nothing against him, except he forgets I work for him every single da-

So anyway, shall we get back to where we left off?

I woke up this particular morning like it was any other. Ten minutes past my alarm, still overly tired and my flaming orange hair an absolute mess, not literally flaming. I quickly cleaned myself up, putting on a light-green top and denim overalls, before leaving my small apartment to walk to work. I stepped foot on cobbled streets, passing the non-existent traffic and a quirky number of buildings until I finally arrived at Big Ron’s terracotta walls. I went inside the shop, being greeted by familiar Redstone covered floors, lots of tech strewn about the place and one very moustached face.

“Hello there!” he called enthusiastically. I braced myself for the well-rehearsed speech that I have had to hear so many times. “Welcome to Big Ron’s!” He continued, “We do…” The man paused a second.
“Oh.”
He stopped. I greeted him with a signature, and totally not forced, Gem smile and my employee badge. I swear Mumbo forgets I work for him… I would say sometimes but it’s every single day. My moustached boss recomposed himself before trying the introductions again, a bit more mellowed this time.

“Hello Gem.” The blush on his face was extremely clear. “There is a new project in the back, and someone sent you a letter.” Knowing Mumbo, neither of those things might even be there.

“Thanks Mumbo!” I replied, “I’ll go check it out now.” I decided to spare him me pointing out his daily slip up. Mumbo is a charming and kind person, or if you ask the rumours: vampire, but he is ‘a bit’ scatterbrained, especially when it comes to remembering people. It doesn’t annoy me. What gave you that impression? I walked into the back room and sat down at my desk. There was indeed a new project, if I had to guess it was a video camera, and a sealed envelope. For once, Mumbo got it right! I opened the envelope and took out a short letter. It read:

“Dear Gemini Tay,

I would like to formally invite you to a day out at Time Park on Wednesday the 3rd of November, at 3pm. Me and a group of others will all be there. If you do wish to come, wait by the fountain in the centre.

I may or may not see you there.

Scar Goodtime

P.s Bring one of Mumbo’s fancy contraptions.
P.s.s Your time starts now”

Scar Goodtime. Scar Goodtime! Only right that the only known vex hybrid in the whole of existence as we know it decided to invite me to a day out. ME! Also, who knew Scar was a fan of Taskmaster? Not me.

I’m sorry for that outburst. Scar is famous. Like, really famous. What did you expect?

I stood there kind of dumbfounded. I couldn’t believe it. I sat down to take a breather. Why me? Why? Just why? After calming do- who am I kidding? I’m not calm, even now, and this was Void knows how long ago. Anyway, I began to fiddle with a camera that would baffle me all day.

The rest of that morning was fairly normal, minus the blaze hybrid nearly burning my hand off. Thanks for that, Mr Tek. Ok, he didn’t mean to, he just got over-excited… At the very least, there were no more mysterious letters from uber-famous people. However, something did happen this afternoon. Of course it did. Just my luck.

I was sat in the back, tinkering with that super annoying video camera, when I heard Mumbo talking in a hushed voice. My curiosity got the better of me as I walked into the front room. Mumbo was talking with someone, and they both fell silent when I came in. The person in question had brown hair, red eyes, lots of scars and grey skin and mini vex wi- Hold up. Why is Mumbo talking to Scar Goodtime? Why is it hushed? WHY IS HE HERE? Uh… Right… The vex looked up at me with a cheeky smile.

“So, I assume this is Gemini Tay?” he said, pronouncing every syllable like someone learning a language for the first time.

“Y-Y-Yes!” I replied with a flustered stutter, “That’s me.” Scar looked at me, smiling. He must be used to this. My cheeks were bright red as I stared at the most famous person ever. More famous than some of the gods themselves. Dang it! Why do I get flustered so easily?

“Are you coming to our ‘day out’ on Wednesday?” the brunette asked.

I answered before I could think about it.

“Yes! Of course. I would love to.”

I stood there awkwardly for a second before my curiosity over-extended itself. I went back to my workshop and sat down on the floor to recover. This was happening. This was actually happening. I tried to listen into the conversation in the other room, but it was too quiet. By the time I had the courage to pop my head back through the door, Scar was gone. Whatever he wanted, I wouldn’t find out. I went back to my desk and began to try and fix the stupid camera that has been eluding me all day. I looked to the tech on the wall and began to think about what I could bring. I had no expectations. What could possibly go wrong?

Boy did I not know what I just signed up for.

Notes:

Hmm... I wonder what she could have possibly signed up for...
Who am I kidding, I know! I wrote this thing!

Please give feedback, I want to improve my writing.

P.S. My pronouns are She/her if you want to come at me.
