Just a little info before you begin reading,
1. Rachel is transgender. That is a headcannon I will stand by FULLY do not come in here with homophobia please
2. This will be aching slow burn for almost all of the ships. (Im sorry !! I just feel like the slow burn could've been better in HOO soooo I'm doing it here!!)
3. Calypso will be included but she will not have any sort of fling with Leo. They will be the best of friends though!

this fic was inspired by "Found Family" on wattpad by Marauders-arise. It is also about HOO, I just wanted to write one too and I do take some reference from that fic. Its really great and you should read it!!

BACKSTORIES.
- LEO VALDEZ.
Leo life started off in a small town in Texas. since his birth, it was just him and his mother. But at the age of 7, his mom died to a fire in her workshop. He was shuffled through homes growing up before finding who would eventually be his best friend, piper at 12. Piper got into a lot of trouble and eventually got sent to a wilderness camp. Him, being attached at the hip to her, stole a car as well and got sent there too. That's where they met Jason Grace. Jason and piper dated briefly before piper found out that she liked women. After the camp, Pipers dad (Tristan McLean) decided to formally adopt Leo and he has been living with them since.
-PIPER MCLEAN.
piper has been a rebellious kid all her life. Her mother left when she was really young and her father is a famous actor who is always busy. All she has ever wanted to do was get his attention. She had never been really popular and never had any friends. That was until Leo Valdez walked into her life when she was 11. She and him did everything together. They would always make trouble just to get the attention of her dad. One day though, she was on her own and she had coincidentally walked into a car deapership and stole a car, getting her sent to a wilderness camp. Leo, being the idiot he is, did the same and got sent too. For a while she had been struggling with her identity but she had decided to dat a guy named Jason Grace. It didn't last long because she had figured out she was a Lesbian. After wilderness camp, her dad had adopted Leo and they were officially siblings. She has been still trying to subtly get her fathers attention but it always falls on deaf ears. For now though, she's content in her life.
-JASON GRACE.
Jason was born to Beryl and Zuemar (see what I did there ??) Grace. He had a older sister, Thalia, who he loved very much. Their father unfortunately didnt really love them and when Jason was 2 he ran away with some mistress. Jasons life just got worse from there. His mom found isn't handle it and became a raging alcoholic. Thalia couldn't take it so she ran away when she was 12, leaving Jason at the hands of his mom. It wasn't a bad experience but he didn't get half of the care he needed. After a couple of months she was back but shortly after she went to go live with their dad. Their dad never really talked to Jason or let him talk to Thalia so for years he was alone. Eventually Thalia came but but not for long as she had to go to college. He has a best friend, Reyna. She made him feel like he was sane. And he loved her, no, not like that. She was like his sister. And sure, he still talked to Thalia over the phone and she would come over every Christmas break but.. It was nice to have someone there.
-REYNA ALVIA RAMIREZ-ARELLANO.
Reyna had a decent upbringing. She grew up with her Mother in sister in Puerto Rico until she was 7. When she moved she moved to a little trailer park in New York she met her best friend Jason. They grew up together and their sisters are best friends too. They even went to college together. They now visit every Christmas break. Reyna struggled with her identity for almost her whole life but, with Jason's help she figured out that she was Lesbian and Asexual. Now she is completely confident in herself.
-GROVER UNDERWOOD.
Grover grew up with his uncle. He lived in a sweet little apartment in New York and was best friends with a girl named Annabeth since he was in first grade and she was in kindergarten. When he was 7, a boy named Percy had moved into their apartment complex. Being the chipper and friendly kids they were they made friends quickly. For a while, he felt out of place being a grade above them, but when he was in 7th grade, he got severely sick and wasn't able to go too school. Once he was healed, he had to repeat the grade and was finally in the same grade as them.
-ANNABETH CHASE.
Ever since she was little, all she knew was her dad and how great he was. That was until her stall mother moved in. Eventually her dad stopped paying attention to her and she felt out of place. So, she decided to run away. While on the run, she met two kids, a little bit older than her, and traveled with them. Eventually they got caught and had to go home. Her father only payed attention to her when it was convenient to him after that but it didn't really matter to her. She had her best friends Grover and Percy and that was all she'd ever need in her eyes.
-PERCY JACKSON.
Percy grew up the product of a divorce. His dad, who he would see on weekends, was a rich businessman who owned a fishing company, while his mother worked minimum wage jobs to feed him. His mother eventually found "love" or what she thought was love. The man, Gabe, started abusing him physically and verbally. He wouldn't tell his mother under the threat that it would be done too her too. But to his surprise, he was using that threat to keep her quiet too. They found out and his mom kicked Gabe out. Their lives just got better after that. They moved into a decent apartment and his mom got a better job. Meanwhile, he met his two best friends ever.
-RACHEL ELIZABETH DARE.
Rachel grew up in a pretty rich environment with her father. She had never felt fulfilled and eventually she figured out it was because she was trans. Once she started embracing the fact that she was a girl her life got better. She found some great friends and lived a good life. Though sometimes she would feel all weird because she still felt like a man. Her friends helped her through it. She, of course, got discriminated against but she learned to ignore it and live her best life.
-FRANK ZHANG.
Frank was born in Canada to his mother. His mother had to go to war when he was 13 so, he moved to America to go live with his grandma. His father died in war before he was born but he still video chatted with his mother. That was until she was killed in battle late in his freshman year. He now, lives a decent life with his grandma who urges him to be perfect. Though he has a cool friendgroup who he loves.
-HAZEL LEVESQUE
hazel lived in Alaska with her mom until her mother was killed in a robbery. She had moved to America with her dad and has been living there since. When she was 11, her half brother Nico, moved in. At first he did his best to avoid her, but eventually they warmed up to each other and became each others best friends. Their dad was never around so they had each other to get through everything.

Nico grew up in Italy with his mother and sister until his mothers death. After, they were sent to an orphanage in America and shuffled through homes. It was hard but they had each other. Then, his sister died on a walk to go get them food. Nico was broken. His father found out he was in America and took him in. He moved in and found out he had another sister. He pushed her away, fearing that getting too close to her would just lead to more hurt. But, he eventually allowed himself to open up and they became best friends.
-WILL SOLACE.
Will lived with his mom and dad in Texas up until his father died and they moved to New York. He was raised very well and accepted who he was in all entirety. He found a good group of friends but, it wasn't the same without his cousins and he still missed them.
