Hi, to whoever is reading this. Thank you for taking the time to read fanfiction. I haven't written something like this in years, and I really had a great time writing it. I hope you enjoy it.
To clarify, the reader's character is Deaf, however the way I describe the reader's deafness and preferred method of communication is not a representation of everyone in the Deaf community. The reader's sign language is based off American Sign Language (ASL), however the way I depicted sign language in this story is open-ended enough to where you should be able to insert the sign language that is native to the country of your origin. The way I represent the reader and other characters use of sign language varies in this story. I do try to make sure the modes of communication are clearly stated for readers. However, in case of any confusion here's a key:
—For a character communicating using sign language, will be represented as: 'Hi.'
—For a character communicating verbally, will be represented with usual quotations: "Hi."
—For a character communicating verbally and with sign language, will be represented as: "'Hi.'"
I also don't own One Piece, any of its characters, or specific One Piece plot arcs. However, I do own the romance plot line and a couple OC's.
