Work Text:
Pencil, Liy, and Leafy could all say the same thing: they were sick of seeing Ice Cube fanart all around the EXIT. It didn't help they had to do the same exact math worksheet, day in and day out, the numbers the same every time. Pencil could swear the numbers wanted to pop out of the confined space, buzzing and ready to leap, Liy could swear that BFB had gotten canceled, and Leafy could swear that there wasn't enough optimism around.
Bracelety, though? She could swear something was missing, no matter how much Ice Cube fanart she made. No matter how many signs littered the EXIT, how many pieces of fanart she made on her worksheets, and no matter how much she absorbed herself in her Ice Cube obsession. A puzzle piece was missing. Something small. But the puzzle piece made other pieces fall out of place. A lingering feeling of something missing. A void Ice Cube couldn't fill. Ice Cube filled the rest of her life because Ice Cube could let her fill what she wanted with her life. She was a lost soul, and Ice Cube was something to latch onto.
Ever since joining BFB, a void started to form. But she could FILL the VOID with BFB. What Ice Cube couldn't fill, BFB could.
But now BFB can't fill the growing void. And neither can Ice Cube. This obsessiveness hides the void when it can.
Bracelety needed something to fill the void. So she tried to become more obsessed with Ice Cube. But it didn't work. So she would scroll through the endless web. Although most of the time, she could lose herself in making different things for Ice Cube, hiding the ebbing and flowing void, there were days where that wouldn't work.
And today? Bracelety found herself in one of those days. Where Ice Cube couldn't fill the consuming void of lost nothingness. A void that ebbed and flowed, that Ice Cube could never fully fill. Just a void that would always mostly be full. And Bracelety needed something. Something to fill the rest of the void. The lost confusion.
These were the types of days where she would remember the fond few days of BFB she got to enjoy. Memories of being with her team. Memories that could fill the holes. But today, one memory just replayed in her head.
"Because self-improvement only occurs when we acknowledge that our own behaviors are far from perfect, and, dare I say, worthy of hate!"
"Ice Cube isn't worthy of hate!"
"Yes she is!"
"Y- you're worthy of hate!"
"YES, I AM!"
Fanny's words. She was worthy of hate. Ice Cube was worthy of hate. And... by extension, everyone... Bracelety didn't want to believe she was worthy of hate. She wanted to be like Ice Cube, because Ice Cube wasn't worthy of hate!
The consuming void told her Fanny was right. And, for some reason, where Bracelety would want to fight the void, hold it back, forget about it... something about what the void told her made her listen.
Pencil, Liy, and Leafy could all see the change in Bracelety that day. She'd have the rare day like that. One where she wasn't rushing through her work, doing Ice Cube fanart, and sitting at her favorite computer. They wondered what would hit Bracelety those days. But tears never pricked at Bracelety's eyes, and even when she wasn't being "normal", she still had a big smile on her face.
She didn't have a smile in the type of way she usually had. It was... a sullen smile. A very, very faint, soft pink dusting her cheeks. And... between Pencil, Liy, and Leafy, none of them could tell whether or not Bracelety was happy or sad, or what was going on.
Bracelety was convinced Fanny was right, she was worthy of hate. But... something about how aggressive she was felt so right to match her fan-girling. And the tears were those of a melancholy memory, missing what once was, what she hadn't gotten the chance to have, and what she missed over her obsessive nature of Ice Cube.
Bracelety missed the chance to have someone who could change her life and fill the void. Because now, Fanny's voice filled the void, both comforting and hurting.
