Work Text:
On a warm summer’s day, with the sunlight filtering in through the open windows and the curtains fluttering gently in the breeze, you found yourself standing in the kitchen, swaying your body side to side to the tune of Little Sadie playing softly from the record player in the other room. Even with many of the windows open, you felt slight perspiration coat your skin, the hair on the back of your neck sticking to your nape. The floral sundress you had on helped some in keeping you cooled down, the skirt of the dress twirling around daintily as you moved about the kitchen.
After preheating the oven, you occupied yourself with putting scoops of cookie dough on the baking tray. You began humming along to the tune of Little Sadie, devoting all of your attention to making sure the cookies were evenly spaced. In fact, you were so focused that you failed to hear Abby’s footsteps behind you.
You were made aware that your lover had entered your shared home when she had suddenly wrapped her sweaty arms around you, pulling you toward her body and peppering small kisses up and down the side of your neck. You were startled just slightly, giggling out loud to yourself, before relaxing in her embrace. You momentarily forgot all about the cookies, closing your eyes and placing your arms on top of Abby’s, letting out pleased sighs that you could just barely hear above the music. She had kissed a particularly sensitive spot on your neck, and you couldn’t stop the small whine from escaping your throat.
You were beginning to feel warm, and not from the sunlight directly hitting you. Your eyes re-opened, and you turned around in Abby’s arms, bringing her kisses to a halt. She smiled at you fondly, one of her hands reaching up to caress your cheek. You placed one of your own hands over hers. Her hair had remained braided throughout the morning, but at some point she had taken it down completely, letting it fall over her shoulders. In some areas her skin was slightly red, no doubt from chopping wood and doing other chores under the sun for an extended period of time. Her thick arms were glistening with sweat, and you couldn’t help but steal a few glances here and there, watching the muscles flex captivatingly.
“I see you were in the mood to bake today, huh?” Abby said, and your eyes flew back to her face. She chuckled at you, knowing full well what had distracted you.
“Yeah, I… haven’t done it in a while, so.” You replied. Abby peered over your shoulder, briefly glancing at the tray of unbaked cookies.
“Chocolate chip. Your favorite.” You said softly, watching as a grin broke out on Abby’s face.
She leaned in closely to kiss you, but before committing to it she whispered against your lips, “you’re my favorite.”
You were going to roll your eyes, but Abby’s lips had gently pressed against yours before you could. You closed them instead, your hands immediately wrapping around her neck as hers snaked around your waist. Her frame completely engulfed you, and you loved how small she made you feel.
She pulled away, gazing deeply into your eyes hungrily before quickly going back for more, mouths opening subconsciously. In just the span of a few seconds, the intensity of the moment quickly increased, especially with the way Abby’s hands had roamed your body. She was just beginning to slide down the strap of your sundress when you had suddenly halted her movements.
“Abby,” You began, and a teasing smirk grew on the other woman’s face as she took in how breathless you sounded.
“Go shower.” You said, playfully pushing her away and readjusting the strap of your dress.
Abby laughed breathily. “Don’t act like you don’t love it when I’m sweaty.”
“Abigail.” You warned, glaring at her, although your gaze didn’t hold any actual malice.
Abby raised her hands in defeat. “Alright, alright.” She said through a fit of chuckles. She threw a playful wink your way before making her way up the stairs.
With your lover away for some time, you put the cookies in the oven, set the timer, and hastily tidied up the kitchen. You knew the cookies would only take about ten minutes to bake, so you took a seat on the kitchen counter and decided to pass the time by reading City of Thieves, a book that Abby had recommended that you surprisingly found to be rather compelling.
A few page flips later, and the shrill sound of the timer could be heard throughout the kitchen.
Gracefully hopping down from the countertop, you pulled the freshly baked cookies from the oven and placed them on the stove top to let them cool off.
The heavenly smell quickly filled the entire kitchen, and you couldn't help but smile at the rack of cookies, already wishing to take a bite out of one. But while you waited for them to cool down, you decided to sit on the couch and flip through a few more pages of your book. Only a couple minutes had passed when you heard Abby's soft footsteps descending the stairs.
Turning to look at her, you were shameless in your ogling. Her hair was mostly dry, and it was free from the braid that she had worn it in all day. She wore yet another loose tank top and a pair of gray sweats, and the comforting smell of pine quickly overwhelmed you as she moved closer to you. She stood over you from behind the couch, leaning down to gently peck you on your lips.
"You came just in time." You said with a smile.
"The cookies are done?" Abby asked, the pure excitement in her voice clear as day. You chuckled to yourself at how endearing she was.
"Mhm. But I just took them out of the oven, so they're cooling down right now."
“Oh. Okay,” Abby replied. Her face then morphed into a contemplative expression. Her bottom lip was pulled in between her teeth as something crossed her mind, and slowly a smirk grew on her face. After doing a quick glance at the page number you were on, you closed your book, slowly setting it down on the table as you eyed Abby suspiciously.
“What's going on in that head of yours?” You asked with a grin.
“Well…I was just thinking…I actually have a bit of a sweet tooth for something else.”
You cocked an eyebrow, smirking lazily, knowing full-well where Abby was going. “Yeah? And what might that be?”
Abby's eyes not so subtly glanced down at your lips, and then your chest, clearly admiring the curve of your breasts through the fabric of your dress, before meeting your eyes again.
“Upstairs.” was all Abby said, a firmness in her tone.
You promptly stood up, giving her a playful two-finger salute. “Yes, ma'am.”
Of course, with her hand in yours, you went upstairs first, so Abby could very obviously watch your hips sway.
The sun had dipped well below the horizon by the time the two of you were satiated. At some point, Abby had gone downstairs to grab a couple of the forgotten cookies for you both.
But as she grabbed four of them–two for you, two for her–she eyed the entire tray, mulling over something in her mind, before caving in.
“Fuck it.” Abby said to herself, picking up the entire tray and taking it upstairs with her.
