Chapter Text

The first thing Albus remembered was being told one thing.

'You must save everyone Albus!'

A loud cry in a world taken over by Lord Voldemort. He, a boy named Albus Severus Potter, was meant to bring everything down. The first thing on the agenda was invading hogwarts, although that isn't the real start of the story...

November 11th, 2005

It had been seven years since the battle of hogwarts. All that remained of those against the new regime were Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Professor Snape. They had no real clue what to do until Ginny piped up.

"What if we brought Harry back? I know coming back from dead is impossible, but it should be possible to recreate him, right?" She had asked, desperate for any solution they could find.

"Theoretically, it could be possible..." Snape replied. His expression pinched as it pondered how one would even do such a thing.

"I have an idea." Hermione said, already coming up with a genius plan.

Present Day

Now, it was the first of September. I, the byproduct of them trying to recreate Harry Potter, am now going to hogwarts. Publicly, I'm Severus' child that he made with grandma's DNA. Everyone knows he loved her, so it wasn't so far-fetched.

Right now, we are standing in the 9¾ station. A stared at the train with luggage in hand. I was already feeling nervous. Although it seems Snape- Father could feel my worry. He placed a gentle hand on my shoulder, a quiet reassurance.

"You'll do fine. Just focus on learning for now." Father said simply. Ever the man for little words.

"Alright!" I said, confidence somewhat restored.

I walked onto the train, my luggage being taken off to some storage compartment on the train. As I walked through, I could see everyone immediately leave the entire train cart. Well... I suppose I have plenty of seating spots.

I went into a random compartment. Sitting down next to a window. The train soon started, and for a good ten minutes, I sat alone. Until someone came into my compartment unannounced and slammed the door behind him.

"H- huh?" I looked up and saw a rather fed up looking blonde. He looked rather aggravated as he just sat across from me at the other window seat.

"Don't mind me half-blood. I just need a break from the noise." He said, rather annoyed sounding.

"Uh, sure." I said. The kid looked my age and was rather familiar, but I couldn't place why.

We sat in silence for the rest of the train ride. It was... awkward, to say the least. If I even opened my mouth to speak, I got a vicious glare pointed at me. So I just resolved to move on the second we got off the train.

Soon, the train came to a stop in front of a rather foreboding castle. I didn't really know where to go, but a half giant seemed to be yelling at the end of the station.

"First years! First years! Come follow me!" They yelled over the crowd. I figured that was probably who I needed to follow.

After a large crowd of first years gathered, the half giant spoke again. "I'm Hagrid, the grounds keeper here at Hogwarts. I'll be your guide for today." He said gruffly before turning around and heading towards a dock.

"These boats will be taking you to hogwarts. Only four people per boat." The half giant explained as all the first years nodded.

I was about to look to see who to go with, but I was immediately met with the sight of a crowd forming around the blond from earlier. I heard someone in the crowd say something about a Scorpius and... oh. It was the Malfoy boy. That's why he was familiar.

Well, it wasn't my business. I hopped onto one of the boats. I was about to just unhook it from the dock when I saw the Malfoy again.

"You. Let me on the boat." He said simply. Well... rude.

"Why not, your highness." I said, not really wanting him there. I could have been more polite about asking, but I knew better than to make a Malfoy truly mad.

The boy scoffed before getting on. Scorpius immediately unhooked the boat, and it started moving towards hogwarts. They both sat in another awkward silence before the Malfoy piped up.

"Shouldn't you be in awe of my presence or something. Most people start trying to suck up by now." The boy said.

"No? Why would I need to do that? Aren't we both first years?" I asked, genuinely unsure of what he meant. Scorpius just looked at me oddly as we sat in silence for the rest of the ride.

We eventually docked on the harbor and waited for the others to show up. We were one of the first to leave after all. Eventually, everyone and the half giant showed up. The giant led us up the cliff side up to the front of the school.

"Well, this is where I drop you all off. Have a good rest of your school year." Hagrid said before walking away, the rest of us just nodded.

We entered Hogwarts, and it's walls were as oppressive as I thought they would be. The one to greet us at the entrance hall was a stout woman dressed in pink.

"Hello, students." She greated with a pleasant tone. "My name is Umbridge, and I am your headmistress." She introduced.

"Follow me, and I'll lead you to the mess hall." She said before walking off. All the students made quick work to follow her.

We soon were in front of a large set of double doors. Once the headmistress opened them, we were met with a large dining area. Four long sets of tables with house banners hung up on the ceiling above each row.

"Today, you will be sorted into your houses. There's Slytherin, for those especially gifted amongst us. Ravenclaw, for those who are more intellectually inclined. Hufflepuff, for those loyal to the bitter end. And... Gryffindor... for the..." She paused, pondering how to phrase her words. "Gryffindor, for the troublemakers amongst us."

The crowd all seemed to nod along. Whispers of hoping to end up in Slytherin and worrying about getting into Gryffindor surrounded the first years. I just hoped I didn't get sorted into Gryffindor and get my cover blown already.

People's names were called up one by one. Being sorted into each house. Eventually, Umbridge called out, "Scorpius Malfoy!" And everyone's attention was immediately brought to the sorting.

Scorpius stepped up confidently to the hat and sat down in the chair. The hat was placed on his head, and it quickly yelled out, "SLYTHERIN!" The whole mess hall erupted in clapping and cheers.

Once it died down, the next few names were called. All before the headmistress called, "Severus Snape!" Afterward, all the eyes fell on me. I truly hated that name, but there wasn't much I could do.

I stepped forward and sat in the chair as the hat was placed on my head. The hat waited for an agonizing moment before calling out, "SLYTHERIN!" And several people clapped as I walked over to the Slytherin table.

"My, to think the half-blood got into Slytherin." Someone said mockingly, loud enough for me to hear.

"To think he was even allowed to go here. I thought this school was for people, not whatever he counts as." Another remarked.

Just like that, a cacophony of scornful whispers filled the table, and everyone gave me a wide space. Just like everywhere else. I'd be lying if I said it didn't sting a little. Although as I started to eat the food at the table, someone sat next to me.

I looked to the side and saw Scorpius sitting next to me again. "What, am I your people repellent?" I asked jokingly.

"Yes." Scorpius said quickly before eating.

"I see..." I muttered before going back to eating. As we ate, whispers soon followed.

'Is that the scorpion prince with the half-blood?'

'Quiet! That half blood is still a Snape!'

'A half-blood is a half-blood. No matter who they were dirtied from.'

'Yeah! Why would a true pure-blood hang out with someone so dirty?'

'I heard they've been sitting next to each other all day!'

Those whispers were loud. Loud enough for me to hear. It felt suffocating. I could feel their eyes on me. Judging me. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't- !

"Hey." Scorpius called over to me, and I looked up at him questioningly.

"What?" I asked, cursing my shaky voice in my head.

"Don't pay attention to anything those losers have to say. They'll talk no matter what either of us do. I'm the scorpion prince, and you're the new half-blood prince. That's all you need to worry about." Scorpius explained simply.

Was he trying to comfort me? "Oh, uhm, right. Thanks." I said gratefully. I did feel better, and my lips came up into a smile. Scorpius didn't reply, but I could see a small smile on his lips, too.

We eventually finished eating, and I saw Father step up to the table. It seemed it was time for us to be shown to the common rooms. I finished up my food quickly as well as Scorpius. Father eyed me and Scorpius before speaking up.

"Hello, Slytherin." Father's stern voice demanded the whole dorms attention. "I am your head of the house. You will follow me to your dorms." Father explained.

Everyone nodded along, somewhat intimidated by his stoic presence. They walked down the halls, the already creepy nature getting even worse as we traveled downwards. Father had told me the dorms were in the dungeons, but I didn't think it would look like a dungeon, too. How welcoming.

Scorpius side eyes me, perhaps sensing how creeped out I am. He merely scoffs before elbowing my shoulder. I flinched and glared at him, but all he did was roll his eyes. Neither of us felt like speaking aloud when everyone else was quiet.

We eventually made it to the dorm. A large door with a painting overhead stood tall in front of the sea of first years. It was terrifying, looking up at the doors. Living with hundreds of pairs of ears. All of them have the ability to catch me in the lie.

"This will be your dorm for the next seven years." Father said, his classic monotone grounding me. "The password to get in is basilisk for the next month. Regularly check the house board to see when the password changes and what it changes to." Was all he said before uttering the password, letting us all inside.

The interior was... depressing. Black ebony wood furniture with green cushioning lined the room. Silver accents caught the green light from the torches that lit the room. Ornate patterns lined everything, giving it a noble feeling. It was a bit goth for my taste. Everyone else seemed rather entranced, though. Perhaps by the luxury of it all. Even Scorpius was pretending not to be eying the room in astonishment.

"The first year male sleeping quarters are to the first to the right the female quarters are to the left. You may claim your beds now." Father said before walking off somewhere. Probably his office if I had to guess.

Before I could do anything, Scorpius grabbed my wrist and paraded me to the dorms. He brought me to the bunk in the back corner of the room. "I'm taking the bed closest to the door." Was all he said before elves came in with all our stuff.

Well... at least we were heading to bed now. I could deal with this tomorrow.

Notes:

YAY, IT'S DONE. This was so fun to write. Anyway, here are some quick author's notes.

1. I debated for a while how much information to give both you and Albus, but I think this still gives it a fair mystery. Albus himself doesn't know how he's born other than that Ginny is his mom. So feel free to theorize!

2. Snape isn't the best father figure, but he tries. I don't like him, but this version has a few more redeeming qualities than "I was bullied and had a crush on your mom that made me less racist."

3. The scorbus slow burn begins. They'll become friends quickly, but children often do. From what I've seen, when you're 11, the person who hangs out with you is your friend. XD

Scorpius: I'm so cool. You obviously want to be my friend
Albus: Nah, I'm good
Scorpius: Too bad

4. Scorpius is still Scorpius and took the time to comfort Al. That kindness definitely comes from Astoria. Sorry Draco, I love you, but you were definitely a bratty kid.

5. Albus has the "fuck it, I'm too tired for this" attitude at 11. Poor baby.

6. Sighhhhh Al's reputation is in the trash but at least it'll improve over time.
