Chapter Text

Logan used to have nightmares. It was common for him to wake up terrified some nights and have to remind himself that what he had dreamed wasn't real. Beautiful dreams were rare, so when something really good happened in real life and Logan woke up the next day, he knew it had really happened and hadn't just been a dream.

Although it was hard for him to do that now, sleeping peacefully beside him was Kevin Sydney, one of the princes of the kingdom, his prince. Last night Logan had proposed to them, and they had said yes! They said yes! he's going to marry Morph!

Logan felt his heart beating very fast. Yesterday he could hardly believe what was happening. Morph's kisses had him in heaven. He didn't want to leave, and Morph didn't want him to leave, so he stayed to sleep. Being able to curl up next to Morph made him very happy.

Morph was stirring a little, waking up, and Logan stroked their disheveled hair. "Good morning, my prince."

"Technically, I'm not a prince."

"But you're mine. At least you will be when we get married."

Morph smiled, one of those big smiles Logan loved, and then gave their fiancé a small kiss on the lips. "I love you."

Logan took their hand and placed it on his chest. "You're going to make my heart burst out of my chest."

"We should get up now. We have to tell my uncles this wonderful news. I'm sure they'll be happy"

"No" Magnus said angrily.

Sydney and Logan stood before the kings, asking for their blessing to marry. Logan was even down on one knee.

“Please, king, if you…” Morph began to speak, but Magnus interrupted them

“I’m not just the king, I’m the closest thing you have to a father, and I don’t give you permission to marry him.”

“I do give you permission” Xavier said, causing Erik to turn around and look at him in surprise.

“Charles!”

"If he makes you happy..." he replied smiling, ignoring his husband's complaints.

"He does! And you just made me very happy right now." Morph ran excitedly to Charles and kissed his forehead, then returned to Logan's side and hugged him.

"Charles, we've already talked about this, you can't go against me" Erik said.

Xavier stared at him. "If my stepfather had been alive when we met, he wouldn't even have let you into the palace. Don’t be silly, of course they can get married.”

Erik sighed before looking at Logan threateningly. "If you hurt them, I'll cut your head off."

Logan just nodded.

"Come on, let's tell my cousins!" Morph took Logan's hand, excitedly leading him out of the hall.

"Don't you notice how Logan sees them?" Charles said.

"What do you mean?" Erik's gaze was fixed on Logan and Morph as they left the room.

"With adoration, as if Kevin is the most important thing in the world." Xavier took Erik's hand and stroked it with his thumb. "I know that look very well."

King Magnus remained silent.

"Don't act so stoic. I remember very well how you knelt before me and begged to marry me, that I would give you a chance," Charles said. "I also remember other times when you knelt."

"Charles!”

"You didn't tell me yesterday what you'd like to be since you don't have to be a knight" Morph said as they walked down the aisle together.

"I like being your knight. I can be with you all the time." He kissed their cheek.

Morph laughed a little, their cheeks heating up. God, Logan couldn't wait to swear he'd love them for life.

"It's here" Morph said, opening a door. In the room were their cousins with books while Pietro and David looked out the window. "I hope I'm not disturbing you."

"Of course not. Are you going to join us for Study?" Lorna said, closing her book.

"Another time, we have some big news to give you... We're getting married!" Morph said excitedly.

Everyone was surprised and approached the two of them with congratulations and questions.

"And the ring? Let me see it!" Wanda said.

“Oh, there are no rings yet, but that’s not the point.”

They stayed in the room for a long time. Logan had seen and talked to the princes and princesses before, but it was different when he was just Morph’s royal knight and only had to stay a few steps behind them while Morph chatted with their cousins and only had to greet them. Now that he’s going to be Morph’s husband, it was different.

The rest of the day went on normally, although Morph told everyone they saw the good news.

“Come on, you have to have dinner with us” Morph said, taking him by the arm and leading him to the table.

Normally, he would have dinner with other guards who weren’t on duty at this time.

Logan didn’t miss the angry look Magnus gave Morph as they sat next to Logan.

“Kevin…” the king began. But he was interrupted by his nephew.

“He’s going to be family. He can sit down here."

Some time passed as the family ate and talked about things when one of the kings spoke to Morph.

"We should send a letter to your mother, letting her know" said Charles.

Morph shifted a little uncomfortably in their seat. "I don't think it's necessary."

"She's your mother, she needs to know," said Erik.

"If she were here, she would have found out by now" they murmured.

Logan didn't remember Morph ever talking about their parents, and the two of them spent their time talking. Logan felt a little bad. He was going to marry Morph, but he didn't know anything about their parents. He didn't even know whose siblings their parents were.

He didn't know if Erik had any siblings, and the only brother he knew of Charles had been exiled from the kingdom years ago. He had thought before that maybe they had died a long time ago, and it caused Morph pain to talk about them, but at least now he knew their mother was still alive.

As night fell, Logan escorted Morph to their room as usual. To do so, when he opened the door, Morph took his arm.

“You’re staying over tonight too, right?”

"If Magnus finds out we're sharing a bed before we're married, he'll bury my own sword in me."

Morph pouted, and Logan couldn't say no.

As they settled into bed, Logan couldn't help but ask.

"I think that dinner was the only time anyone mentioned your mom. You never talk about her."

"There's a good reason for that." Morph turned in bed, their back to their fiancé.

Logan watched them for a few seconds before placing his hand on Morph's shoulder and moving his fingers slowly, caressing it.

Morph shuddered and turned quickly, putting their face in Logan's chest and hugging him tightly. Logan was surprised for a moment before placing his hands on Morph's back.

"Promise me you won't change your mind about us, about loving me."

Logan hugged him tightly and kissed his head. "I promise, that will never change.”
