Lonely, Apparently

Summary:

I, the author, am high, sleep deprived, lonely, and really, REALLY miss my boyfriend, so I'm taking it out on a bunch of video game characters bc I have nothing better to do.
I can't think of tags to add to this, so additional warnings will be put in notes, and if I need to add more tags as I go, then I'll add more tags as I go.

RED Sniper is having a hell of a time. He's lonely, too introverted to talk to his teammates much, and really, he's just kind of uncomfy around people. Up until meeting the BLU Medic face-to-face, that is. The guy is crazy, definitely feral, might be able to smell fear, and frankly, a little terrifying. Sniper doesn't care much after a while, though.

Chapter 1: Sniper

Chapter Text

Sniper was lonely.

It wasn’t just that he always smelled faintly of body odor no matter how hard he tried to hide it, or that he was just too introverted to like socializing with the team much. He was just a lonely person, and while it wasn’t a horrible existence, he did wish occasionally that he had a friend or two. The closest he had to a friend was Medic, though that’s only because he went to Medic near monthly to get his kidneys replaced. They would talk frequently, Medic knew just about everything about Sniper, but they couldn’t be considered friends.

That changed one cold day in Viaduct. Sniper was hiding on the catwalk overlooking the Control Point, reloading his rifle after taking a shot at BLU’s sniper. The other sharpshooter was far older and significantly more experienced than Sniper was, but Sniper had recently managed to get a few lucky shots in. He’d just taken a perfect shot, having caught the other sniper off guard and securing a clean headshot. Everything was going well, up until he looked up, only to see a bonesaw pointed at his face.

The BLU Medic was taller than RED’s, skinnier, and quite a bit younger. His hairline was better, his hair was longer, and he looked a little more wild. Sniper knew that the BLU was known to be significantly more violent, frequently breaking away from healing his team to go out and kill by himself. And here was a fresh, cage-free, wild-grown Sniper, ready for the butchering. Sniper dropped his rifle, immediately exchanging it for his kukri. The BLU medic grinned.

“Hallo, Dummkopf,” he sang, seeming entirely too cheery for his own good. Sniper grunted, holding his kukri out in a way that protected his chest and stomach. Was it the best decision? Probably not, but he was terrible at melee, he couldn’t use either of his guns at the moment, and he was honestly, a little terrified. RED’s Medic was a little less violent, keeping to himself at the base and keeping his insanity mostly reeled in. BLU… BLU was batshit insane. The bonesaw came swishing toward Sniper’s neck, and he blocked it with his own blade.

“What’d I do to ya?” Sniper asked, his eyes wide and flicking between the Medic, the Medic’s bonesaw, and his kukri. “I’ve shot ya down with a clean headshot every time, ‘s not like I've been torturin’ ya.” The bonesaw came again, and this time, Sniper was too slow. He didn’t manage to block it, and it slashed into his left side. Luckily, Sniper was just scared enough, and the blade had come at him fast enough that adrenaline was pumping through his veins. He was aware he’d been hurt, he could feel the blood oozing out, but it didn’t hurt much more than a sting. That suggested that the wound wasn’t actually that deep, but Sniper didn’t want to move to find out. His breathing was definitely quicker now, though, and Sniper could see BLU’s nostrils flare. Christ, the guy was positively feral, to the point Sniper could swear BLU could smell fear.

“Ja, I know,” BLU taunted, swinging the blade again. Sniper was once again too slow, and BLU slashed another wound into Sniper, on the right side this time. He seemed almost giddy, and Sniper was sure that if the Medic wasn’t holding himself back, he’d be giggling while carving Sniper open like a roast pig. Though, it struck Sniper as odd that he wasn’t already dead—BLU’s Medic didn’t tend to play with his prey. RED was nearly the same; both Medics usually killed quickly, though BLU taunted a lot more. This time, though, BLU was honestly being a bit of a dick. Another swing of the blade, another nice, long gash in Sniper. BLU's grin got wider. “But I was feeling oh- so -annoyed. After all, I can never keep track of you long enough to get my hands on you. Today, however… Today, I’m going to have some fun .”

That sent shivers down Sniper’s spine. What was this lunatic going to do to him?! Stab him, cut him to pieces, fill him with chemicals, hell, tie him up and shoot syringes into him? He’s seen the BLU Medic do all of those things to the other RED team members, he didn’t want to be added to their ranks. Soon enough, though, it seemed like BLU was getting bored, and the other BLU team members were calling for him. BLU frowned, and then knelt down. He traced the serrated edge of the blade down Sniper’s chest, apparently delighting in the shiver that visibly went through the sharpshooter, then slowly dug the rounded, dull tip between Sniper’s third and fourth ribs. It earned the Medic a low, pained growl from Sniper, and the BLU smirked.

“Auf Wiedersehen,” he murmured, before driving the blade in and up, tearing up the liver as it went. Sniper let out a loud, almost whiny sounding groan, and the kukri slipped from his grasp as Medic pulled the bonesaw back out. Sniper’s hands immediately went to press on the wound, trying to stem the flow of blood, but he knew it wouldn’t work. Unless his own Medic found him or he managed to get to a Medkit, he would die in ten agonizing minutes, and he’d get sent back to respawn. The BLU stood back up, gazing at the red blood now dripping from his bonesaw. He looked… satisfied, somehow, before reaching down and cleaning the saw off with his coat. He then put it away, switched to his Medigun, and dashed off, leaving Sniper alone to die.

Sniper did die, finally. The RED Medic never found him, and he was losing so much blood from between his fingers that he quickly grew too weak to find a Medkit anywhere close by. Lightheaded, dizzy, and in pain, he finally closed his eyes, waiting for the respawn machine to kick in and whisk him off in a horrible whir of blinding, colorful lights and loud noises. When the machine did kick in, he swore that he could hear a disappointed shout from the BLU Medic, somewhere very close by. Maybe the bastard was planning on messing with Sniper just a little longer, but Sniper wouldn’t get the chance to find out.
