The war was over. He had won. And he was alive.
Hermione’s heart still thundered with the relief that had flooded her when Harry stumbled into the Great Hall, alive, his green eyes blazing with that stubborn fire she cherished and confronted Voldemort. The image of him in Hagrid’s arms - limp, pale, lifeless - had hollowed her out, a horror so raw she thought it would consume her. But then he was there, back from the dead, and the world snapped back into place. Even now, hours later, she couldn’t fully believe it. Harry Potter was alive.
He’d left her his Invisibility Cloak before climbing to the Gryffindor dorms, a quiet gesture that felt like a thread binding them. Ron had gone with his family, the Weasleys clinging to each other in their grief and relief. The castle was still, its scars whispering of the battle. And now, here she was, standing in the boys’ dormitory, hidden beneath his Cloak - his Deathly Hallow, cloaking her trembling, naked body.
No one was here but them. Just them.
Her breath caught as she stood over Harry’s bed, watching him sleep. His chest rose and fell, steady, alive. Moonlight spilled through the cracked window, tracing the sharp lines of his jaw, the messy black hair splayed across the pillow. Her fingers tightened around the Cloak, her only covering. She was freshly showered, her skin warm, damp curls clinging to her neck. Beneath the Cloak, she wore nothing. The realization sent a shiver through her, bold and terrifying, her body alive with a want she’d buried for years.
She’d always wanted him. Always. But she could never say it - not with Ron’s feelings in the way, not with the world falling apart, not when survival demanded everything. But now, the war was done. Harry was here, breathing, and the hollow in her chest had become something else - something aching, desperate, alive.
Her heart pounded as she let the Cloak slip from her shoulders, pooling silently at her feet. The cool air kissed her bare skin, raising goosebumps, but she didn’t care. She stepped closer, her bare feet silent on the stone, and knelt beside his bed. Her eyes traced him - his parted lips, the faint scar on his forehead, the way his hand lay open, as if waiting for her.
“Harry,” she whispered, her voice trembling.
His eyes fluttered open, green and startled, locking onto hers. For a moment, he just stared, confusion melting into something deeper as he saw her - her bare shoulders, the flush on her cheeks, the way her breath shook. “Hermione?” His voice was rough with sleep, but there was a warmth in it, a question.
She didn’t answer with words. She leaned forward, her hand brushing his cheek, her thumb grazing the corner of his mouth. His breath hitched, and she felt it - the shift in the air, the unspoken thing they’d circled for years. She climbed onto the bed, straddling his hips, her bare skin brushing the thin sheet over him. His hands found her waist, hesitant, gentle, and her heart swelled at the care in his touch.
“Hermione…” he murmured, his eyes searching hers, wide with realization. “Are you - ?”
“I want this,” she whispered, her voice steady despite the heat flooding her. “I want you.”
His gaze softened, but there was a flicker of nervousness, a mirror to her own. This was new for both of them - uncharted, vulnerable, their first time. She could see it in the way his hands trembled slightly, the way his breath caught as he realized she was bare beneath the moonlight. But there was something else in his eyes, too - love, raw and unguarded, and it made her adore him even more.
He sat up slowly, his hands sliding up her back, gentle but firm, as if afraid she’d vanish. “I’ve never…” he started, his voice low, almost shy. “I want this to be right. For you.”
Her heart ached at his words, at the way he looked at her - like she was everything. “It’s you,” she said softly. “It’s already right.”
He kissed her then, slow and deliberate, his lips soft but hungry, like he was savoring every second. She melted into him, her hands tangling in his hair, the kiss deepening as years of unspoken love poured out. His hands moved carefully, tracing her curves, learning her. She shivered as his fingers brushed her spine, her hips, the sensitive skin of her thighs. He was gentle, so gentle, and it made her chest tighten with adoration, with need.
They moved slowly, as if time might slip away, as if this moment was all they’d ever have. The sheet fell away, and she felt him - warm, hard, real - against her. Her breath caught at his size, a fleeting moment of surprise that made her pause, her eyes widening as she looked at him. He noticed, his hands stilling, his expression softening with concern. “Okay?” he asked, his voice low, careful.
She nodded, her cheeks flushing. “Just… go slow,” she whispered, her voice trembling with both nerves and want.
He did. His hands guided her hips, letting her set the pace, his touch steady but never pushing. She moved carefully, her body adjusting to him, the stretch intense but thrilling. Every movement was deliberate, drawn out, their breaths mingling as they found a rhythm. She gasped softly, her hands gripping his shoulders, and he watched her, his eyes never leaving hers, checking for any sign of discomfort. His gentleness, his care, made her heart swell - she’d always loved him, but this, this made her fall deeper.
I love you. She didn’t say it aloud, but she felt it, fierce and unshakable, and when his eyes met hers, she knew he felt it too. His gaze held the same unspoken truth, a silent vow that needed no words.
Her hands roamed his chest, tracing scars and warmth, memorizing him. His fingers brushed her breasts, tentative at first, then bolder, his thumbs circling her nipples, sending sparks through her. She arched into his touch, her breath hitching, and he groaned softly, the sound vibrating through her. They moved together, slow and passionate, every touch lingering, every glance heavy with meaning. The heat built, a slow burn coiling in her core, her body trembling with the intensity of it.
Then, as the tension grew almost unbearable, Harry shifted. His hands tightened on her hips, and with a gentle but firm motion, he turned them, guiding her onto her back against the soft sheets. She gasped, her hands clutching his arms as he hovered over her, his eyes dark with want but still so tender. He was taking over now, and she gave herself to him completely, her body yielding, her heart open. She trusted him - always had.
“Is this okay?” he whispered, his voice rough, his forehead resting against hers.
“Yes,” she breathed, her hands sliding up his back, pulling him closer. “Please.”
He moved with her, slow and deep, his rhythm steady but unhurried, drawing out every sensation. Her legs wrapped around him, urging him closer, and he groaned her name, the sound sending a shiver through her. They were lost in each other, their bodies moving as one, the world narrowing to just this - just them. The tension built, higher and higher, her gasps mingling with his ragged breaths. She felt it coming, overwhelming, and she could tell he was close too - his movements grew more urgent, but still controlled, still careful.
“Together,” she whispered, her voice trembling, and he nodded, his eyes locked on hers, understanding. They moved as one, their bodies trembling, the world blurring as the pleasure crested. She cried out softly, her body shuddering as waves of release crashed through her, and she felt him follow, his groan low and reverent as he reached his climax with her, their bodies locked together in that perfect, fleeting moment.
They stayed like that, tangled in each other, her head resting on his chest, his heartbeat steady beneath her ear. His arms wrapped around her, gentle still, as if he couldn’t bear to let go. I love you, she thought again, the words echoing in her heart, and as his hand threaded through her hair, his lips brushing her forehead, she knew he was thinking it too. They didn’t need to say it. They both knew.
As they lay there, bathed in moonlight, Hermione’s mind wandered, a soft haze settling over her. She wondered, fleetingly, if there was another version of them out there - somewhere in the vastness of time or magic or possibility - where they had this too. A world where Harry and Hermione found each other like this, bared and whole, loving without words. It would be a shame, she thought, if there wasn’t. If this moment, this perfect, fragile thing, existed only here.
But for now, in the quiet of the dorm, they held each other, two souls who’d faced death and found life in each other. And that was enough.
