Chapter 1: Chapter One

Chapter Text

Elizabeth started living with Emily 3 months ago. Emily and her team were working a case with a few missising kids. The unsub was your foster father, so after arresting him, and you had nowhere to go.. So after speaking to the appropriate people, Emily decided to take her in.

The team, at the time, we're worried about this, she had gone through so much this past year — almost losing her job, picking up smoking again, and everything that went on with Brian Garrity. But they kept their opinions to themselves, not wanting to overstep any lines - she's gotten quite distant ever since she got her promotion, so they weren't sure how well their worries would've been taken.

Right now, she's in the process of adopting her. There's still a lot more paperwork and court to go through, but she lives with Emily full-time. Elizabeth is still getting used to having a mother who cares about her, and a loving, safe environment. But she's started to get used to it.

⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。⋆˚꩜。

Emily is 55, and she was sure she was never going to be able to have a child, though honestly, she never really tried. She felt like she didn't deserve one after the incident in Rome when she was 15 and had to get an abortion. Then after doyle, she was completely ruined, and completely sure that she would end up fucking up a child if she ever had one, so she didn't try at all. How could she support a child, when she couldn't even support herself most of the time? She'd just end up like her mother, and she would never be able to forgive herself if she put a child through that.

It's taking a lot of getting used to for her too. Having someone –let alone a *child*– depending on her for food, love, and literally everything, as well as managing work. It get's overwhelming at times, but she tries not to show it in front of Elizabeth, not wanting to make her feel like she's too much, knowing that's one of her fears.
