Chapter Text
Feyra smiled as the children ran around him, eagerly asking him all sorts of questions now that the afternoon flying lesson was over. He did his best to answer them all, but as he got the children to settle down in the grass, he felt a horribly familiar ache start to build in his chest.
“Alright, this old man needs a break,” Feyra announced, and he got the usual mix of laughter and complaints. The children found it hilarious when he admitted he was old, but they also hated that he had to take so many breaks because of it.
Thankfully, no one knew the real reason Feyra needed these breaks, and that wasn't going to change today. He left the children under Euri's care, and slipped away to his nest to suffer alone through the upcoming flare, the cracks of the corruption growing worse.
Feyra knew he couldn't hide this forever, the cracks were so close to his neck now, but until then, he was going to try his best to make sure no one knew about it.
