Stupid is as stupid does; Is what Chuuya always told himself. Mess with stupid people, and get stupid results. There were many stupid people at his school, more than he could count. It was surprising just how many stupid people you could find by walking the length of the dismal hallways. Chuuya turned his nose up at a group of boys who were having a contest on who could stick the most gum on the roof.
God, he hated school. There was probably not a single thing he hated more than school. Actually, that was a lie, because that thing was walking down the hallway towards him with a smug look on his idiotic face. The stupidest of all the stupid. Dazai Osamu.
Now, before you go off on Chuuya for hating the school's most popular pretty-boy, you must understand that the two boys were sworn to hatred ever since Middle School. I mean, it was pretty hard for the two not to be enemies, especially when Chuuya's entire life was ruined by Dazai himself.
You see at their school there was one rule, and one rule only; Whatever you do, good or bad, do not end up on RIVALS.
RIVALS, as the school knew it, was a current event blog that was updated weekly and its sole purpose was to expose members of the school of their nefarious and scandalous deeds.
Put it this way, your life wasn't entirely fucked until your name appeared on the weekly headliner.
All sorts of things had happened because of the blog, teachers fired for sleeping with students, athletes expelled for using steroids, relationships ended, friendships destroyed. And yet, those who never got featured saw it as all fun and games, as if it was the most exciting thing in their life, probably because it was.
So, how does this relate to Chuuya's undying hatred for Dazai? Well, the whole thing happened almost 2 years prior. But he let it slip to someone, anyone, that Chuuya was gay. One word to the wrong person and suddenly his scandal appeared on the blog and his whole life went up in flames.
Sure, his grudge against Dazai was childish, but he trusted the idiot and was betrayed. And he had this itching feeling that maybe, just maybe, he didn't know how, or why, but Dazai did it on purpose. Chuuya truly believed Dazai had meant to take everything from him on purpose.
That is why when Dazai walked past Chuuya in the hallway that day, he gave him a scowl that blatantly said "fuck you" before continuing down the hallway.

Class was no better than the hallway, people chattered foolishly while an apathetic teacher stared down at his phone. Chuuya couldn't even remember what this class was supposed to be. Science? Maths maybe? He gazed out the window down at the basketball courts and scoffed the moment he saw a brown-haired boy running the length of the courts, dribbling a ball. Dazai. Chuuya scowled, he was probably skipping class like the no-good he was. Chuuya watched him for a while longer and he had to admit, Dazai wasn't half bad at basketball. He watched him execute a perfect half-court shot that swished through the net with ease. Dazai didn't even react, as if he did it all the time, and he probably did.
"Excuse me, sir," Chuuya raised his hand, "Can I go to the bathroom?"
The teacher at the front of the room didn't look up, only waved a hand signaling for him to go.
Chuuya made his way out the door, past a group of boys loitering by the doorway.
"Aw, looks like the little fag is going to go suck off some sorry bastard in the bathrooms again," One of the tallest boys snickered.
"Yeah you wish," Chuuya casually kicked out his foot, connecting it with the boy's shin, hard.
He pulled his shin up, scowling at the redhead "Ow! You fucker, I swear I'll-" but Chuuya didn't hear what he said, he was already out the door.

The rhythmic bouncing of the basketball came into earshot as Chuuya rushed his way out into the courtyard. Before him was the basketball court which Dazai was pacing the length of while skillfully dribbling the ball, his shirt now removed so that a pale tank top hung off his shoulders. The usual white bandages hugged the skin of his arms and neck.
Chuuya bent down, picking up a discarded soda can from the ground, and with practiced aim he hurled it at the brunette boy. It hit him square on the back of the head.
"Ow! What the fuck?" Dazai whirled around to glare at Chuuya with an odd surprise, "What the hell was that for, are you trying to kill me!?" He rubbed the back of his head.
Chuuya shrugged, "Maybe..." He began to walk away, satisfied with the damage he was able to cause.
Dazai was stunned, to say the least. What is this boy thinking? What could he possibly want? God, he is an asshole. "Hey! Don't walk away, what the fuck?"
"Are you stupid or something?" Chuuya asked with a sneer.
"Um- No, I don't think so," Dazai's tone was frustrated, "I just got randomly hit in the back of the head with a fucking Cola can, so forgive me for being confused."
Chuuya shook his head mournfully. So he doesn't remember what he did. Chuuya turned away again and began towards the door.
A hand clasped around his wrist before he could make it. He spun around to meet Dazai's face glistening with sweat, his brown hair sticking to his forehead. How the fuck did he move so fast? Dazai was much taller than Chuuya, and he had a tougher, more bulkier build. Chances were, if Chuuya tried to pull away from the brunette, it probably wouldn't end well for him. So Chuuya bit his tongue, willing himself to not say anything sarcastic.
"What. The. Fuck." Dazai's puffed out through breaths. He looked mad, livid even.
Oh. I fucked up. "You- You don't remember me do you?" Chuuya stared daggers into Dazai's eyes which were the same brown as his hair.
"Of course I remember you, idiot," Dazai scoffed, "You've been giving me salty looks all of junior year."
"And do you know why?"
Dazai's grip on Chuuya's arm tightened, "No, why would I-"
"Boys!" A door slammed behind them, "I suggest you go back to class now or I'll write you both up." They both noticed a portly woman in her late 50s shaking her fist at them from the door.
"Sorry, Miss!" Chuuya shouted, prying Dazai's hand from his wrist. He looked Dazai up and down, at the tank top that hung too low on his body, giving way to a portion of his chest that glistened with sweat. "You should probably put your shirt on," Chuuya smirked, "We wouldn't want the teacher to get the wrong idea."
Dazai coked his eyebrow, "Yeah, right."
As Dazai turned around, a sour expression on his face, Chuuya fizzled with frustration, "Hey, idiot," He called out, "You might wanna watch out for this week's RIVALS post. It might be of some interest to you."
Dazai stopped dead in his tracks, his body suddenly cold and stricken, "What did you just say?"
Chuuya smiled. Now, this is going to be fun.
