Work Text:
It’s exactly 1:15 am when Wonwoo turns off his computer and starts getting ready for bed. This is earlier than when he usually goes to bed, but Minghao is at a rave right now so the night feels slower than usual. He’s also a little worried. Well, not worried for Minghao, he’s been going to raves a lot and Wonwoo knows he always stays safe, more like he’s worried about him being home.
Wonwoo has been to a rave before, it’s just really not for him. Do they have to be this loud and overwhelming? That’s probably their selling point but he still doesn’t like them. It was never an issue in their friendship that Wonwoo just prefers to stay home. He loves going out with their friends to clubs or bars though, it’s really just the rave he has an issue with. Would Minghao want a partner that goes to raves with him?
He starts brushing his teeth while staring deep into his own soul through the mirror. Wonwoo never thought of himself as boring, nothing ever worried him enough to consider that he could be boring but is he? Friendships and romantic relationships are very different. There is a chance that he’s a fun friend but a boring boyfriend. He rubs his face dry with a little too much force, groaning his worries into the towel and then he is off to bed. Maybe it’s just the late night blues getting to him.
Sleep will not come easy tonight, however. It is way before his bedtime and Wonwoo isn’t even that tired, there’s just no reason for him to stay awake if all he’s going to do is wallow around. Before he can open either youtube or any mobile game on his phone he hears his front door open. He did give Minghao his spare key not too long ago but it’s like – he glances at the time on his phone – only 1:45 am. That is way too early for the night to end for Minghao.
Wonwoo puts the phone down and focuses on the sounds that Minghao’s making around his house. Minghao stayed over a lot even before they started officially dating, which should’ve been a sign for Wonwoo honestly, so he’s very used to his going to bed routine. He knows that when the shower turns on, Minghao is only going to stay in there for 10 minutes, then he’ll spend 10 more minutes brushing his teeth and applying skincare.
And just as predicted he did not have to wait for long before he hears the door open. He feels Minghao crawl into bed and cuddle into his side. Wonwoo is grateful he thought ahead and left his arm outstretched so he can now press his boyfriend closer to his side. There's a press of lips against his shoulder and he returns it by kissing Minghao on his head.
“Hello, lover.” Minghao’s voice is soft, matching the quiet of the night.
“Hi, darling. How come you’re home so early? Did you not have fun?” Wonwoo can’t keep the slight worry out of his voice, insecurities still fresh on his mind.
“It was great! I just missed you, that’s why.”
“But if you were having fun then…” Wonwoo trails off, not really knowing where he’s going with this.
Minghao drapes a leg over Wonwoo’s waist, cuddling in further. “I was having a lot of fun but then I realized I could also just go home to see you so that’s what I did.”
Home. Warmth settles over Wonwoo’s heart. Minghao came home even though he was having fun because of him? It seems like such a simple thing but it means so much to him. There’s no need to cry, that’d just be dramatic, so he just focuses on playing with Minghao’s hair using his free hand.
“I missed you too honey. Tell me about it?”
Minghao immediately starts talking about his opinions on the DJs, the cool outfits he saw and all the suspicious things he thinks Soonyoung and Chan were doing. Wonwoo feels his worries float out of his body the longer he listens. He feels a bit silly being insecure over these things in the first place.
So as they both slowly drift off to sleep intertwined with each other in every way possible, Wonwoo thinks that they’ll be alright just as they are.
