You make me want to be a human again.
Can I be your only human again?
You bring me back. You bring me back,
In pieces in the palm of your hand.

Work Text:

Caitlyn Kiramman was not a patient woman.

She never had been.

She hated to be kept waiting and she had a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and all the typical excuses offered to justify it.

Caitlyn looked down and checked her phone for the fifth time in a span of forty seconds. Still no call or apology text from her blind date, who was now more than half an hour late! She knew she should never have let her friends set this up in the first place. Even if the woman had been on time, the evening was sure to be a complete disaster. Caitlyn knew absolutely nothing about this woman. She didn’t know her name, what she looked like, or even what she did for a living. But Steb and Loris were adamant that they knew someone who would be perfect for Caitlyn.

“We’ll tell her to bring a bouquet of violets to dinner. That’s how you’ll know who she is,” Loris had said with a mischievous smirk.

Caitlyn had attempted to politely decline their offer. But when the boys mentioned how uptight and irritable she had been at work lately, Caitlyn realized that she might be overdue for a night out and begrudgingly agreed.

“They’d be uptight, too, if they hadn’t been properly shagged in over a year,” Caitlyn mumbled under her breath as she stood up, tossed her napkin and a twenty-dollar bill down onto the table, and then left the crowded restaurant.

Caitlyn stepped out into the cool night air and exhaled deeply in frustration. And as she tried (and failed) to hail a cab, she resigned herself to yet another evening of drinking alone on her couch and touching herself until she came or fell asleep.

“Cait?” a familiar voice said softly.

And when Caitlyn turned around and locked eyes with the pink-haired woman she had been desperately (and secretly) in love with back in college, she struggled to catch her breath.

“V-Vi?” Caitlyn asked, unable to hide how pleased she was by this unexpected reunion.

“Last time I checked! Damn, cupcake. How long has it been?” Vi asked as she opened her arms and stepped forward to embrace the taller woman. And Caitlyn blushed at the term of endearment.

Caitlyn had been incredibly shy and awkward throughout most of her college years. And since she always found baking easier than socializing, she frequently baked cupcakes in the dormitory kitchen to make friends without needing to exert too much effort. It also happened to be the perfect excuse to finally introduce herself to the muscular, tattooed jock in the dorm room next door.

“H-Hi, I’m cupcake. Would you like a Caitlyn?” she’d queried, fumbling over herself as she admired the veins in her neighbor’s strong arms and the cocky grin on her face.

“Nice to meet you, cupcake. I’m Vi. And as much as I’d love to try a Caitlyn, my coach has me on a pretty strict diet. But maybe I can sneak a taste some other time, hmm?” Vi replied, winking playfully before she closed the door.

And that was how Caitlyn Kiramman got her college nickname.

“Must be four years, at least,” Caitlyn replied as her mind quickly returned to their present conversation.

“No way! Shit. Time flies, I guess. You look…greatReally great,” Vi said, stepping back and smiling as she studied Caitlyn thoughtfully.

“O-oh, I… uh, thank you. Thanks. You do, too! Very great,” Caitlyn replied enthusiastically as she struggled to keep herself from staring at the scar on Vi’s upper lip. She had always wondered how it happened and if Vi had any idea how sexy it made her look.

“So, what are you up to tonight? Hot date?” Vi asked with a curious gleam in her powder blue eyes. And Caitlyn was too excited to see Vi again after all this time and too humiliated about being stood up by her blind date to be honest about her evening.

“I just finished grabbing drinks with a few co-workers. What about you?” Caitlyn replied. It wasn’t a particularly creative lie. But there was no way she could admit to being desperate enough to have agreed to a blind date.

“Well, it’s kind of embarrassing, but…” Vi said, her cheeks turning a charming shade of pink as she reached into her messenger bag and retrieved a small bouquet of flowers. “My friends from the gym sort of set me up on a blind date. And I am so fucking late. The construction on the bathysphere rails is killing me! Anyway, some asshole bumped into me and knocked my phone out of my hand. Couldn’t even text my date to let her know I was still on my way,” Vi added as she pulled her phone from her pocket and showed Caitlyn the shattered screen.

“A-are those… violets?” Caitlyn asked, her cerulean eyes glued to the bouquet in Vi’s hands and her mouth hung agape in disbelief.

“Good eye, cupcake! The boys told me to bring ‘em so my date could spot me. Though, I highly doubt she stuck around this long. I know I wouldn’t,” Vi laughed as she shoved her broken phone back into her pocket and then anxiously rubbed the back of her neck.

“Oh, you never know! Stranger things have happened. Maybe she’s been looking forward to this all week and is still inside sipping her cocktail and hoping you’ll walk through the door at any moment,” Caitlyn replied with a small knowing smile. And Vi seemed simultaneously pleased and disappointed by Caitlyn’s optimistic response.

“Yeah, I guess so. I’ve been excited about it, too. My friends said this girl is exactly what I’m looking for. I’d be crazy not to go in there, right?” Vi asked. And at that moment, Caitlyn wasn’t sure if Vi wanted to be pushed or pulled.

“Give it a shot, I say! Look, I hate to run, but I’m expected elsewhere. Good luck, Vi. It was lovely to see you again. And… I do hope that you and your date have a fantastic time together,” Caitlyn said as she leaned in and pressed a soft kiss against Vi’s warm, freckled cheek.

“Thanks, Cait. It was amazing to see you, too. I’ve…well, I’ve thought about you a lot since college. Always wondered how you were doing out in the world. Kinda wish I could just bail on this whole thing and take you out to dinner instead,” Vi laughed, and Caitlin thought she detected a hint of disappointment in the sound of it.

“Some other time, perhaps. Give me a call once that phone of yours is fixed,” Caitlyn replied with a wink. And she sensed that Vi was both surprised and impressed by her newfound confidence.

“D-definitely. Night, cupcake,” Vi said sweetly.

“Goodnight, Violet,” Caitlyn replied as she watched the pink-haired woman step into the restaurant.

And Caitlyn could hardly believe her luck.

Caitlyn entered the restaurant a few minutes later and saw Vi sitting at a table with her bouquet in one hand and a beer in the other. Vi looked the same way Caitlyn felt before she had finally abandoned all hope for her evening. Disappointed and embarrassed in equal measure.

Caitlyn took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and then crossed the restaurant and sat down in the vacant chair at Vi’s table.

“Cait? You came back?” Vi asked, confused but visibly relieved.

“No sign of her then, I presume?” Caitlyn asked as she politely raised her hand in the air to get the attention of the waiter.

“Hmm? Oh, right! Yeah, looks like she was smart enough not to wait around for a hot mess like me,” Vi replied with a laugh as she stuffed the bouquet back into her bag and sighed in defeat as the waiter approached the table.

“What can I get you ladies?” he asked with a polite smile.

“I’ll have an old fashioned, please. Can I buy you another beer, Vi?” Caitlyn asked hopefully.

“Sure, but… didn’t you say you had somewhere to be?” Vi asked.

“She’ll have another beer, thanks,” Caitlyn said to the waiter before she turned to respond to Vi’s question. “I lied about having other plans.”

“Oh, really? That eager to get away from me, cupcake?” Vi asked with an amused grin.

“On the contrary. I’m thrilled that we ran into each other. I’ve thought about you a lot since graduation, too. It’s just… it’s a bit complicated,” Caitlyn said as she crossed her legs and made herself comfortable in her chair.

“What’s complicated?” Vi asked, clearly intrigued.

“Well, you see… I wasn’t actually out with my colleagues earlier. I was sitting here, at this very table, waiting for my blind date to arrive,” Caitlyn finally admitted, biting her lip as she awaited Vi’s reaction.

“You?” Vi asked skeptically.

“Me,” Caitlyn replied with a nod.

Vi studied her quietly for a moment before she shook her head and began to laugh.

“Good one, cupcake. You almost had me there for a second,” Vi said as the waiter returned with the drinks.

“What? You don’t believe me?” Caitlyn asked as she sipped her cocktail.

“Of course I don’t believe you! Look at you, Cait! Someone like you would never have to resort to something as pathetic as a blind date,” Vi replied, certain this was all some elaborate joke.

“Is that so?” Caitlyn said with crossed arms and a raised eyebrow as she locked eyes with the pink-haired woman.

“Look, I appreciate what you’re trying to do here. Really, I do. But you don’t have to pretend to be part of this just to make me feel better. I’m used to making a complete fool out of myself. Nights like these are par for the course,” Vi said.

“So, you think I’m lying because I pity you? Is that it?” Caitlyn asked.

“Can’t imagine any other explanation. You’ve always been a total sweetheart, Cait. It makes sense that you’d want to step in and try to save me,” Vi replied with a shrug.

“Well, if you don’t believe me, I suppose there’s nothing I can say to convince you. It’s a shame, though. Loris and Steb will be quite disappointed that things didn’t work out between us tonight,” Caitlyn said playfully.

And the shock on Vi’s face made Caitlyn laugh.

“You have got to be kidding me! Are you seriously my blind date? What the fu… how do you even know those two blockheads?” Vi asked, her cheeks red with humiliation.

“We met at the Enforcer Academy a few years ago. And now the three of us work together here in Piltover under Sheriff Grayson. After graduation, I realized what I wanted to do with my Criminal Justice degree. I’m set to make detective next year,” Caitlyn replied with a proud grin. And she was pleased to see that Vi finally seemed to believe her.

“Wow. Th-that’s… wow, cupcake. Congratulations. I just… I guess I’m a little surprised. How in the hell are you still single?” Vi asked in awe. And now Caitlyn was the one blushing.

“Well, truth be told. I’m rather picky. And I’m not sure I ever got over my college crush. I suppose I’ve just refused to settle for anything less than her,” Caitlyn replied matter-of-factly. She had been too timid and insecure to make her feelings known all those years ago. But things had changed. She had changed.

And she wasn’t going to let Vi slip through her fingers again.

“Oh? Yeah, I think I remember her. Mandy? Or something like that. Short. Carrot top. Extra smiley,” Vi said with a dramatic roll of her eyes.

“Maddie was more of a crash than a crush, I’m afraid,” Caitlyn said with a soft sigh as she took another sip of her drink.

“Who, then? Mel? Lest? Sky?” Vi asked, clearly curious to learn who still had Caitlyn’s heart after all this time.

“It’s you, Violet. It’s always been you,” Caitlyn replied earnestly.

And Vi looked utterly astonished.

“M-me? But… you never said anything,” Vi said softly as she tried to wrap her head around Caitlyn’s surprising confession.

“How could I? Everyone wanted you then, Vi. You were fit, smart, funny, confident, and completely gorgeous. There was always some lovestruck girl standing outside your dorm room or staring longingly at you from across the quad. You turned every head. What were the chances that you would ever want someone like me?” Caitlyn replied honestly.

Vi stared back at Caitlyn in disbelief for a moment before her elbows met the table and she let her head fall into her hands.

“I can’t believe this…” Vi said, her voice barely above a whisper. And it suddenly occurred to Caitlyn that it was possible that her confession had made Vi uncomfortable.

“I-I’m sorry. I just…” Caitlyn started to say before Vi immediately interrupted her.

“Why in the hell do you think I’m here tonight, Cait? Loris and Steb were driving me crazy trying to set me up with someone. They hounded me for months until they finally convinced me to describe my ‘dream woman’ for them. They were relentless! Tall, I said. Blue eyes. Someone curious and kind. Someone empathetic. Someone as stubborn and determined as me. Someone beautiful, inside and out. Someone sweet… like a cupcake. I want you, Cait. I wanted you then and I want you now. And if I had known how you felt about me, I would have been yours in a heartbeat,” Vi said as she reached for Caitlyn’s hands and gently rubbed them with her thumbs.

Caitlyn’s heart and mind raced as she absorbed the full weight of Vi’s passionate response. Her typical instinct would be to doubt Vi’s sincerity or to admonish herself for her own lack of bravery that had apparently cost her the chance to be with Vi years ago. But she wasn’t willing to waste another second of her life not kissing this woman.

Caitlyn stood from the table, walked to Vi’s side, and pulled her up into her arms.

And when their lips collided in a hungry, fervent kiss, Caitlyn sighed in reverence as she savored the sweet and intoxicating taste of the alluring woman she had spent years loving from afar.

“Fucking finally,” Vi chuckled, their lips only parting long enough for each of them to catch their breath.

“Come back to my place,” Caitlyn said, biting her lip as she rested her forehead against Vi’s.

“I thought you’d never ask, cupcake,” Vi replied.

The short drive back to Caitlyn’s apartment was pure torture.

After years of quietly loving Vi from a safe distance, Caitlyn could hardly believe that the woman she had been so devoted to for so long was now by her side in the back of a cab holding her hand.

Caitlyn leaned over and rested her head against Vi’s shoulder as she gently caressed her palm. And she thoroughly enjoyed the quiet whimpers of arousal that poured from Vi’s lips.

“Mm. That f-feels nice,” Vi whispered as Caitlyn continued to tease her. “It’s getting me pretty worked up.”

“I hoped it might,” Caitlyn replied seductively as she turned her head slightly and pressed warm, wet kisses across the tattoo on Vi’s neck. And Vi struggled to stifle a moan.

When they finally arrived at Caitlyn’s apartment, the taller woman reached for Vi’s hand and slowly led her up the stairs.

“Nice place,” Vi said with a smile as she walked through the newly renovated kitchen and into Caitlyn’s living room.

“Thanks. It’s a bit of a mess. I clearly wasn’t expecting company this evening,” Caitlyn replied, laughing awkwardly as she quickly tidied the coffee table and fluffed the couch cushions.

“Nothing wrong with things getting a little messy from time to time,” Vi replied with a mischievous wink. And Caitlyn’s thighs clenched together involuntarily at the implication.

Vi meandered around the room, scanning the bookshelves and admiring Caitlyn’s plants and minimalistic home décor. And Caitlyn was suddenly overwhelmed by how desperately she wanted to touch her.

“C-come here, Violet,” Caitlyn said softly as she attempted to recover. Vi smiled at the sound of her full name coming from Caitlyn’s lips and then crossed the room.

“Fine. But only because I like it when you tell me what to do,” Vi replied as she stepped closer and wrapped her arms around Caitlyn’s waist.

“Do you?” Caitlyn asked. And Vi nodded enthusiastically, licking her lips as her hands gently squeezed Caitlyn’s hips. “Very well, then. Follow me. Now,” Caitlyn said firmly as she left the living room and walked down the short hallway to her bedroom. And she didn’t need to turn back to know that Vi was right behind her.

“Stand just over there for me, darling,” Caitlyn said as she gestured toward the end of the bed. And Vi continued to obediently comply with the taller woman’s gentle demands.

“Here?” Vi asked with a smirk as she placed one hand in her pocket and ran the other hand through the long side of her dark pink hair.

“Perfect. You’re perfect. Gods, I can’t believe you’re here. I’ve imagined this so many times. What I’d do to you. What you’d do to me…” Caitlyn replied as she approached the shorter woman and then pressed a soft kiss against her forehead.

“Show me, cupcake. Please, show me,” Vi begged. And the hunger in her voice made Caitlyn dizzy with desire.

“Mm. Take your clothes off, Vi. I want to see you,” Caitlyn commanded.

Vi slowly kicked off her boots and then unzipped and pulled down her pants. Next, she unbuttoned and removed her dark gray shirt followed by her black sports bra. Caitlyn’s mouth fell open as she stared down at Vi’s nipple piercings and toned stomach. It felt like she was looking at the Sistine Chapel. And when Vi finally took off her boxers and revealed the short tuft of light pink hair between her thighs, Caitlyn’s breath hitched at the sight.

“Lie down and spread your legs,” Caitlyn instructed as she stepped out of her heels and then unfastened her short black dress, letting it fall to the ground without a care. And when Vi realized that Caitlyn had nothing on beneath the dress, the ravenous look in her eyes made Caitlyn weak.

“Gods, look at you. Dripping for me already. You do like being told what to do, don’t you?” Caitlyn marveled as she kneeled at the edge of the bed and pulled Vi’s center down in front of her mouth.

“Mhmm,” Vi whined as she leaned back against her elbows and watched Caitlyn lean in closer.

“I’m going to make you come now, Violet,” Caitlyn said. And while it was more a statement than a question, she still waited until Vi nodded eagerly in agreement before she pressed her mouth up against the wet, swollen mess between her legs.

And when Caitlyn’s tongue finally slid through the slick arousal pooling at Vi’s entrance, she realized that the years of waiting for this moment were absolutely worth it.

“O-oh, f… fuck! Mm,” Vi moaned as Caitlyn’s tongue dragged the heat from her entrance up to her engorged clit. And when she wrapped her lips around the sensitive bud and slowly alternated between light flicks and gentle sucking, Vi’s arms gave out beneath her and she grunted in pleasure as she grasped at the white sheets on the bed.

“You taste so…mmm…so fucking good, darling,” Caitlyn whispered breathlessly against Vi’s pussy as she continued to tease her clit. And the soft praise caused Vi’s hips to buck against Caitlyn’s mouth.

“You… you’re… Fuck, cupcake. That feels amazing. I-I’m so close already,” Vi whimpered, squeezing her breasts with one hand while the other hand tugged at Caitlyn’s midnight blue hair. “I want you inside me, Cait. Please, please fuck me.” The neediness coming from her caused Caitlyn to smile devilishly against her cunt.

Caitlyn slowly licked her way down and then slid her tongue inside Vi’s entrance, desperate for one more taste as she gently loosened her up. And when she coated two of her fingers in the slick mixture of desire and saliva between Vi’s thighs and then pushed them inside her, Vi gasped at the sensation of fullness, and instinctually rocked her hips forward, trying to work Caitlyn’s fingers deeper inside of her.

“Oh, Violet! You’re taking me so well. Such a good girl. Keep riding my fingers. Mm, yes. Just like that,” Caitlyn said encouragingly as she watched Vi push herself down onto her fingers over and over again, desperate to come. And when Caitlyn’s mouth returned to Vi’s sensitive clit and she felt it pulse against her tongue, she knew it wouldn’t be long until the woman beneath her fell apart completely.

“Cait! Cait! I’m…oh, shit! I’m gonna come, baby. Fuck, I’m gonna come so hard for you,” Vi cried out as Caitlyn’s perfectly paced thrusts and skilled tongue pushed her over the edge. And when Caitlyn felt Vi’s walls tighten around her fingers, she noticed the heat of her own arousal as it began to trickle down her thighs.

“Come for me, Violet. Oh, come for me now, darling. I want you all over me,” Caitlyn implored. And true to form, Vi did as Caitlyn asked. Vigorously.

“FUCK! OH, GODS! I-I’m… pull out, Cait… I’m gonna…” Vi moaned. And when Caitlyn quickly withdrew her fingers as directed, Vi’s hips shook erratically for a moment before she squirted. Her release poured out of her and drenched Caitlyn’s bare chest.

And Caitlyn Kiramman had never experienced such wonder and pride.

“Well done, darling. I’ve never seen anything more beautiful,” Caitlyn said as she gently tapped her hand against Vi’s sensitive cunt.

The next thing she knew, Vi had pulled her up on the bed and flipped her over onto her back.

“My turn,” Vi grunted as she straddled Caitlyn’s thigh and then leaned down into a deep, passionate kiss.

“Not long for the afterglow, are you?” Caitlyn laughed when their lips parted.

“I’ve waited eight years to touch you, Cait. Don’t make me wait a second longer. Tell me what you want, baby. Boss me around some more,” Vi replied just as she lowered her lips to Caitlyn’s breasts and sucked hard on one of her nipples. And Caitlyn was so overwhelmed by how good it felt that she thought she might cry.

“Mmm, more of that please,” Caitlyn sighed happily, closing her eyes as Vi’s tongue and teeth continued to tease her breasts.

“Mhmm. Then what?” Vi asked, eager to please.

“T-touch me here,” Caitlyn replied as she grabbed Vi’s wrist and guided her hand down between her thighs. And when she pushed Vi’s fingers up against her clit, she wasn’t sure which one of them moaned louder.

“Shit, Cait. You’re so wet, sweetheart. All this for me?” Vi asked with a cocky grin as she traced lazy circles against her.

“Always. It’s always been for you, darling,” Caitlyn whined as the combination of Vi’s mouth on her breasts and her fingers on her clit made her see stars.

Or maybe they were violets.

If it had been anyone else touching her right now, Caitlyn might have felt embarrassed by how quickly she climaxed.

But it wasn’t someone else.

It was Vi.

Vi, who invited Caitlyn to the gym and taught her how to throw a punch after someone mugged her on campus sophomore year.

Vi, who knew exactly how she liked her coffee and always stopped by with a fresh pot when Caitlyn spent late nights studying for her exams.

Vi, who once overheard Caitlyn singing in the communal showers and clapped and cheered enthusiastically when the song came to an end.

Vi, who held Caitlyn’s hand at her mother’s funeral when Cassandra Kiramman lost her battle with breast cancer.

Vi, who always knew how to make Caitlyn laugh, but never ran off scared when she needed to cry instead.

It was Vi.

And when Caitlyn came undone in the palm of Vi’s hand, she called out for the woman who had always made her feel so safe, cared for, and truly seen.

“Vi! O-oh, Violet! There! Just there!” Caitlyn moaned as Vi’s strong, calloused fingers brought on a second, more intense orgasm just moments later.

“Fuck, Cait. Gods, you look so pretty when you come,” Vi said with tears in her eyes as she watched Caitlyn unravel beneath her.

“Mm. Bite my thigh, darling. Bite me,” Caitlyn pleaded when she realized how close she was to coming yet again. And Vi continued to rub Caitlyn’s clit with her thumb as she lowered herself between Caitlyn legs and then bit down on her inner thigh.

F-FUCK!” Caitlyn screamed in ecstasy as her third and final orgasm cascaded through her body with the force of a tsunami.

Vi gently withdrew her hand and laid down next to Caitlyn on the bed. Then she pulled Caitlyn into her arms and pressed soft kisses against her sweaty forehead as she helped guide her back down to earth.

Caitlyn opened her eyes slowly as she caught her breath and regained feeling in her legs. And the bright smile on Vi’s face melted her completely.

“Hi,” Caitlyn chuckled as she attempted to hide the blush on her cheeks.

“Hi, back,” Vi replied playfully as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind Caitlyn’s ear.

“That was… you are… I-I’ve never felt that way before, Vi. Not with anyone,” Caitlyn admitted as she pulled Vi closer and wrapped her arm around her waist.

“Ditto, cupcake. It was fucking fantastic,” Vi replied as she leaned in and kissed Caitlyn tenderly.

“You’re the only one for me, Vi. I just… I wish I had told you everything years ago. I suppose I just wasn’t brave enough,” Caitlyn said, wishing she could turn back time.

“Seems to me like you found your voice, Cait. And I would have waited a lifetime to hear you again,” Vi replied as she brushed her nose against Caitlyn’s.

Caitlyn smiled and then quickly swiped at the tear in the corner of her eye that threatened to spill down her cheek.

“Gods, I don’t know about you. But I’m starving! My blind date showed up late tonight and I never had a chance to eat,” Caitlyn joked as she rolled over on top of Vi.

“Oh, really? I seem to recall you eating not that long ago,” Vi teased as she grabbed Caitlyn’s ass and squeezed it.

“You’re right! How could I forget?” Caitlyn laughed.

“I am kinda hungry, though. Back in college, this girl named Cupcake offered to let me try a Caitlyn. But I was training at the time, so I never got the chance. Always wondered how the frosting tasted…” Vi said, licking her lips as she slid her hands up to Caitlyn’s hips and pulled her forward until the taller woman’s legs straddled her head.

“Mm. Would you like a taste?” Caitlyn asked seductively as she looked down in awe at the beautiful woman between her thighs.

“Yes, please,” Vi replied as she lowered Caitlyn’s center down onto her mouth.

And after years of waiting, Vi discovered that Caitlyn Kiramman was the sweetest thing she had ever tasted.

Comments and kudos are appreciated! I'd love to hear your thoughts. 🩷💙

If there's enough interest, I *might* write one additional chapter which would be a flashback to their college years together and all the moments Caitlyn was almost brave enough to tell Vi how she felt. Let me know if that's something you'd like!
