Work Text:
Jeongguk likes the riverside. It was his second favourite place to be around. The first? It has always been a certain omega. An omega he has been separated from for years.
The last time he saw him, Taehyung was eighteen, just graduated from the school they both used to study in. The alpha was still sixteen, and he was definitely not ready to just let go of the elder when he left for his further studies.
The omega’s parents knew their village was too traditional to let the lower rank study more than he already had, but they knew Taehyung had his own ambitions and dreams, the desire to study and make a living of his own. So they had to reluctantly leave for a city where everything would be smoother.
Jeongguk was heartbroken, but he couldn’t express it. He has never expressed himself in a way that would make others aware of what he thought, what he felt. Especially Taehyung. But the latter was exceptionally good at reading him anyway.
The omega was the only person who approached him devoid of the intention to make fun, pull at his insecurities of being deaf. And if it comforted him on one hand, it also made him scared. He was scared of the affection that dripped out of Taehyung’s eyes whenever he looked at him.
What if one day the omega realised he was just a plain loser and then started treating him the same way other people did? That would hurt him like a bitch.
He was scared of love because he was convinced he wasn’t supposed to be treated so delicately, but when Taehyung did it, when he hugged him like he mattered, when he held his hands tightly to shield him away, and when he kissed his cheeks to remind him that he loved Jeongguk— it didn’t fail to make his cheeks rosy and heart fluttery.
The elder was the light of his life, and maybe the love of his life too, but that was too tough to admit. The alpha was too scared, too insecure. He couldn’t hear, so what if he was getting deceived? The thought bothered him the most. He felt guilty to even think like that, but every time he has been befriended— it was a simple play to make fun of his disability.
And just like always, he ended up saying nothing, because who would listen to him?
But then Taehyung came, willing to learn sign language with him, willing to read whatever the alpha wrote, because Jeongguk wasn’t confident in using his voice yet. Not being able to hear his own voice when he spoke was uncomfortable, and the omega understood it. Gracefully so. And the younger had never been used to being heard so easily.
Jeongguk had no parents, he was found by the village’s head alpha in his wolf form, whining and whimpering on the same riverside he is seated in front of right now. It’s why this river holds so much significance in his life.
He doesn’t know why he was abandoned, or who abandoned him, but what he does know is that he was thankful his village welcomed him. The couple that led the village had no problem giving him a shelter of his own and inviting him to their house to eat whenever he wanted to. They even let him come celebrate all the festivals and occasional treats.
He was thankful for that, though he was swept off of his feet when Taehyung entered his life— offering his hands when he was pushed onto the floor by a classmate of his.
Maybe he really needed that anchor to keep going, because now with no Taehyung in his life, he feels like a radio without an antenna, like a lake without water, like a night sky without a moon. In short, he feels incomplete.
Now, he regrets not saying it back. He has always been in love with the omega, his insecurities were the hurdle. But now, as he turns twenty-one, the official age to be mated— his insides swirl with the need to be with a certain someone.
Evening dawns upon, but his thoughts still don’t seem to stop. He forgets how long he had been sitting here, but it’s as if he has been glued to the ground beneath.
How much longer am I supposed to wait? The alpha’s thoughts echo as he feels defeated for the nth time, then leaves for home.
The birds outside his window chirp a little louder the next morning, as if on a mission to make up for a natural alarm clock. Too bad, the alpha couldn’t hear, but he could still spot the little creatures moving around the tree’s branch, their beaks opening and closing. Jeongguk has still not recovered from his dream, though, so he stays laying over the mattress like a log, staring into the abyss like it’s his favourite thing to do.
The exchange from almost five years ago is still fresh in his memory. Taehyung and him seated on the bank of his favourite river, exchanging notes because Jeongguk’s fingers trembled too much to make signs, his voice wavered and cracked too much to speak, and his eyes watered too much to even look at the omega.
Taehyung was leaving, it was inevitable. The alpha had been aware of it all too well, but now that it was happening, it felt too real. A reality he wished he didn’t have to face so soon in his life.
He didn’t even get to say what he has been meaning to. The elder never pressured him, that was the problem. He was too unreal, always setting the standards high for Jeongguk. Did he even deserve it? It was too extravagant for his little heart back then, but what he didn’t know was— that he would crave for the same affection years later.
They sat in silence long enough to claw at their insides, and tension thick enough to cut with a sharp knife, before the diary was shoved at the omega.
‘Do you really have to leave?’ Jeongguk didn’t directly look at him, but it was obvious he was trying hard not to turn around and just break down once and for all. Taehyung was well-known with each of the alpha’s body language, he didn’t want to push it.
But he was just a boy in love, his resolve broke when the younger sniffed so loud that the omega could bet it hurt the inside of his nose.
He let the diary rest beside on a rock, before resting his head over Jeongguk’s trembling shoulders.
His palms tried turning the younger’s head towards himself, but the other was stubborn. Taehyung gulped, his own heart clenched at the aspect of leaving the love of his life— but he needed to.
The omega knew the alpha was getting emotional, and was scared to face him. So he just sat in front of Jeongguk, whose head was now buried deep into his knees while his shoulders shook like crazy.
Without any further waiting, he engulfed the alpha in his arms. Jeongguk fit just perfectly under his arms, he would miss the warmth when he was away. If it was in his control, he would take the younger with himself. But he knew he couldn’t, not yet.
Jeongguk still needed to finish his school, he couldn’t just flee him away from here for something as selfish as his feelings.
So, with the promise that he would return as soon as he could, written in the diary, he placed the last kiss over Jeongguk’s head and left. His parents were waiting. They would miss the train.
Tears spilled out from his eyes the moment he turned around to leave, fisting his palms to control and not turn around. Because he was sure that if he did, he would probably never leave.
Jeongguk sighs heavily, exhaling all the breath that he felt was piling in his chest before gazing outside the window. The weather was chilly, he liked it.
His routine was monotonous, almost the same everyday. So, as if on autopilot, he showered and got ready to hunt. He used to eat at the village heads’ home, but as he grew up— the urge to become independent kept growing on him, and he started hunting & cooking for himself.
While returning, he saw a group of people talking amongst themselves. Jeongguk wished he had people to share his thoughts with, but the only one who was willing to do so had left him in the middle of nowhere. Now, all he does is yearn for those eyes to look at him once again.
One thing he hated was people looking at him, because every time they did, their eyes were filled with pity. But Taehyung looked at him with love. A type of affection so unwavering , he ended up craving more and more of it.
For most of the part, he wasn’t even aware that he wanted those eyes on him, the omega’s attention on him, his arms around him, his lips on his cheeks. But when Taehyung left, it was a harsh realisation for him. He realised he needed them like he needed oxygen to breathe.
Maybe he was stupid in the past. If he could’ve just opened his heart and let the omega enter, he wouldn’t be regretting it now. But he couldn’t do much now, could he?
“You’re really excited, aren’t you?” Jimin hummed, checking out the omega in front of him. After coming to the city, this was probably the first time Taehyung was wearing a hanbok. “Damn, this is so pretty.”
“Gotta impress him,” the omega giggles shyly.
“Are you sure he is not already impressed? You’re like— very beautiful yourself.” The beta stated, knowing alphas, betas and omegas were smitten for his best friend all alike.
“I don’t know, Minnie. It’s complicated.” Taehyung sighed, plopping down on the bed, out of the hanbok now. “We did get along, but he never showed any signs of reciprocating my feelings. I don’t even know if he remembers me.” He tried laughing, but to be honest— his heart hurt at the idea of Jeongguk forgetting about him, about them, and the years they knew each other. The time they spent together, even if silent and hopeless, meant the world to him.
“Don’t lose hope, dummy!” Jimin side-hugged him, “You’ve held on for so long, don’t let go of him. You’re returning to him.” The beta makes Taehyung face himself, assuring him with his smile and eyes. “Seize the opportunity to make him yours, yeah?”
“Yes, he will be mine…” though unsure, the omega mumbles, receiving a little aggressive shake on his shoulders— making him widen his eyes.
“With energy!!”
“He will be mine!” Taehyung nodded rapidly, with an amused smile over his lips. His best friend was definitely one of a kind.
“Now you’ll be late, let’s go?” Jimin pulls him up, stuffing the hanbok into the backpack before dragging him out of the room and then downstairs. Mr. and Mrs. Kim were already there, waiting for Taehyung to reach.
He was leaving alone, to bring Jeongguk with him to the city. If he had the alpha’s permission, of course. He knew the younger had the dreams to become a chef, but the village frowned upon a deaf worker.
‘How could the boy work when he can’t even listen?’
‘He’s a nuisance, how would he listen to our instructions when he can’t even hear?’
‘Just another labour to manage him.’
These comments were thrown at him, only when he was trying to help in the meal preparation for the yearly mating run at the age of fifteen. Taehyung even volunteered to stay beside and deliver all the messages through sign language to the alpha, but they were stubborn to not let that happen.
Jeongguk was utterly sad after that incident, he had refused to meet the omega at night. They always met at the river bank, because it was the younger’s favourite place, and Taehyung loved him ten-fold under the moonlight.
He tried to be subtle about it, but he knew staring at the alpha instead of the sky adorned with pretty stars and the moon wasn’t the best way to be discreet.
Taehyung regrets not buying Jeongguk a phone before leaving, and he wrote hundreds and thousands of letters to him, but never had the courage to send them. He wasn’t even sure if the alpha felt the same about him, it was nerve-wracking to think of.
He had so much to tell the younger, the depth of his love was impossible to be translated into words. Jeongguk was worth the universe, he was worth the wait.
The alpha was pure, though a bit lost on the concept of love and acceptance— he was still doing good. Taehyung never forgot to make the younger realise that when they were still together— and he wished Jeongguk still remembered that.
If not, he was ready to remind him of it. Over and over again, a million times if required.
The car ride came to a halt, and so did his train of thoughts. He looks outside the window to spot his previous house which they were now selling. The omega was here for finalising the deal with the buyer.
Opening the car door, he walked and stood right in front of the gate, frowning at it.
Nostalgia hit like a strong wave, it has been so long since he had been here, the air still feels fresh…but foreign because he has gotten used to the city.
Maybe he liked it better because the village was still stereotypical, no opportunities for omegas, whereas now he works as a well-reputed lawyer at a known law firm. Taehyung is still new, but he is already collecting compliments and cheers. He loves his job, even if it can be a bit busy and stressful.
Taehyung whips his head around when he hears a thud, as if a person had fallen onto the harsh ground.
Jeongguk’s routine also consisted of going to Taehyung’s house. Maybe it was his own way of yearning, but the scent was still engraved in his senses. When he sat outside doing nothing, it was his way of reminiscing when the Kims invited him over, or when he was simply dragged by the omega to play, study or spend some quality time.
So imagine his surprise when he had mindlessly walked to the elder’s house and had spotted the omega standing in front of the main door.
Taehyung looked effortlessly attractive even when only his back was visible to him. His mind blanked-out before he got to know, and his knees buckled. The fall didn’t even get to register in his own brain before the omega turned around in shock.
Now, Jeongguk was fucking embarrassed . He couldn’t hear how loud it echoed when he fell down but it would have been exceptionally loud for the elder to be so concerned.
On the other hand, Taehyung’s world had stopped. He hadn’t expected to meet the love of his life so abruptly. He had originally planned to first prepare himself mentally and then go to meet the alpha. But this? This wasn’t even a dream at this point.
It did feel like one, because he has been sleeping with only one face in his subconscious, watching Taehyung smiling in his dreams was a usual occurrence— but now— he’s real. Jeongguk is really there in front of him.
After processing through the situation, he strides towards the younger’s figure. The alpha looks over at him with his familiar doe eyes, and Taehyung feels like going down a memory lane.
He kneels down, the ground is dirty, but he doesn’t care about that when the love of his life is in front of him. “Hey…” he whispers, instantly hitting himself on the head when he realises.
Then instead, he waves his hand in a hello, only to get pulled in by Jeongguk into his embrace. “I-Is this real…?” The alpha whispers close to Taehyung’s ears, whose eyes shed the first row of tears before softly nodding.
Their hands enclose each other desperately, as if making sure this isn’t just a fragment of their imagination. Just like the omega, Jeongguk has had a few dreams as well. He was so close to the elder, yet so far away when he woke up once again.
Wolves inside them howled like the animals they are, but it is because of the immense happiness that they’ve stored for this particular moment. Unreal and unbelievable still, they detach. For their eyes haven’t been fulfilled with the image of each other.
Jeongguk scans him like it’s the last time, and the omega’s eyes crinkle.
“ Missed me? ” Taehyung signs with his fingers, gulping at the anticipation of the other’s reply.
But the alpha nods, his lips turned down. The omega soon realises they’re still kneeling, and to people passing by— it would be a bit weird. Not that he cares, but he still has the buyer to meet. Letting the only formals he has with himself get dirty is not something he can afford to happen.
When they get back on their feet, the alpha looks like he has something to say. Taehyung glances back towards Jeongguk’s little house not too far from his own, checking for the time on his wrist watch.
“Do you… wanna go?” His fingers moved in precision, watching as the younger nodded, desperately.
“Don’t you have luggage?” The alpha asks, signing with practiced ease and habit of years.
“Oh, yeah.” Taehyung mumbles before opening the car’s door, informing his driver that he could leave for a place to stay for today if he wants— before fetching the single backpack he had carried with himself.
Jeongguk’s eyes are visibly dim at the sight, but he tries for it to not show. Is the elder only here for a quick meet and greet? Would he leave? Once again?
No. He cannot let that happen. But, how? How would he beg when he hadn’t given Taehyung a reason to stay? How would he ask him to stay when he hasn’t said those three words the omega wished to listen to?
So he does it, he follows the elder, not caring about the consequences of his actions— he stops Taehyung with a back hug. “I love you!” Jeongguk doesn’t realise that he quite literally screams it. He can’t hear his own voice, so it doesn’t faze him.
But, the omega? The bag falls on the floor from his hands, starstruck at the sudden confession. Turning in the younger’s arms, his wide eyes look into Jeongguk’s. “W-What…” the moment makes him forget that the other won’t be able to hear him.
But when eyes communicate, words aren’t really needed. Jeongguk does understand the shock, so he pushes back the hesitancy he had been harbouring for years and takes the initiative to cup Taehyung’s face. “I love you. I love you so much.” The alpha repeats.
“This is unfair,” the elder whines, feeling tears gathering in his eyes. He was not ready to just be confessed to, especially not when it was Jeongguk. “You couldn’t wait to give me this attack now, huh?” Taehyung’s fingers moved to accuse the alpha, whose cheeks grew red with adoration.
“Sorry.”
The elder shakes his head and pulls him in another hug, breathing him in. Detaching feels impossible when they’ve been waiting for the luxury of being with each other for years now.
When Taehyung moves back, Jeongguk still holds him by the waist, wishing they could stay so close forever. “I’m just happy, you don’t need to be sorry,” he signed with his hands, feeling brand new under the alpha’s arms.
Jeongguk spots the bag on the floor, picking it up before getting rid of the dust. He drags the omega into his house— shutting the door behind. He doesn’t know if it’s wrong to feel like this, but he wishes he could cage Taehyung in here forever. Maybe it’s the fear of losing the elder once again, maybe it’s the uncertainty that the other is only here for less time that is making him have these thoughts— but he cannot fathom the vision of being left behind once again.
It’s awkward, the place is familiar yet a little nostalgic for Taehyung. He looks around before fixing his gaze towards Jeongguk. The air shifts into something intimate when their eyes meet. It’s raw, the way they fill their eyes with each other’s presence.
The alpha’s hands are still stuck at the door’s handle, his fists clenched at the nervousness he feels inside his heart. Taehyung notices, and his gaze darkens by a slight, fully taking in how much his presence affects the younger.
Taking a step closer, he folds his arms against his chest— appearing intimidating. Jeongguk’s breath audibly hitches as he makes himself stick to the door behind him. “T-Taehyung—“
He doesn’t get to finish his sentence, which, to be honest, hasn’t even finished in his own mind when the omega invades his space. Their noses are almost touching and with their scents so prominent to each other’s nose— it becomes impossible for their gazes to stay stable and not stare at each other’s mouths.
Taehyung takes his backpack all while staring deeply into Jeongguk’s eyes and occasionally— those parted lips. He would love having a taste, but now was not the time, not when his phone vibrated inside his pants’ pocket.
The alpha flinched back to reality, his breath knocked out when he realised what they were about to do just a few seconds ago. Taehyung was speaking over the phone, but his gaze was fixed over him, it made him conscious and nervous. Not like it did when he was looked upon by other people, but in a way that made him want to be good, obedient and patient.
He had always known that Taehyung wanted to become a lawyer, and even though it is an unlikely job for an omega to do— he had surpassed all those stereotypes and expressed his love for the field in his school days. The aura that exuded from the elder was no less, Jeongguk felt pride gushing through his heart.
If he was not able to achieve his goal, he could be happy that Taehyung got to, right? It brought a bitter smile over his face. Unfortunately, alphas weren’t appointed chefs in their village. Omegas were better suited. Him being a deaf alpha was just a cherry on top.
Jeongguk snapped back to reality when the elder snapped his fingers in front of his eyes. “Everything okay?” He signed, asking in concern, buying it when the alpha nods and assures with a thumbs up.
“I’ll be right back, yeah?” Taehyung gestured to the outside of the house, “The buyer’s here. Wait for me?”
The younger nodded yet again, untrusting of his voice to not crack. He was still in his thoughts and he didn’t want the omega to be bothered by it when he was leaving for something important. The main door shut behind Taehyung— and he sighed heavily, looking around to calm his nervousness down and think of something else.
Did hyung become a lawyer? Was he able to fulfil his dream? Is he financially independent now? He never wanted to be living off of his father’s money. Will I ever get to be as successful as him? Can we even live together?
These thoughts drifted him back to years ago. When Taehyung was actively trying to woo him.
It was a random day, but a fifteen year old Jeongguk hadn’t expected the omega to come to him crying and sobbing.
Even before the alpha could ask him anything, Taehyung had already started babbling— momentarily forgetting that the younger couldn’t hear.
“This is so unfair! Mom says we will have to leave the village for my studies because here they won’t let me become a lawyer.” The omega sobbed. “It’s ridiculous, how could I just leave you, Ggukie?”
Even if he couldn’t comprehend properly what was bothering the other, Taehyung’s bitter and spiked scent gave it away. He was distressed, and it was definitely something that he didn’t like seeing. So without any hesitation, he decided to move forward and give a big hug to the sad omega.
Taehyung melted, and his whimpers reduced down to quiet sniffles soon— but he still couldn’t shake off the void that he already felt while thinking about leaving this village— or more likely— leaving Jeongguk.
When the omega had calmed down, he explained the situation calmly, expecting to see even a slight remorse over the alpha’s pretty face. But when he got that calm expression from him again— his heart died down a bit.
The reason for it though, wasn't the most pleasant thing to hear for Taehyung. “That’s good,” the alpha started, actually speaking instead of using his hands, which was the first thing that surprised the omega. “At least… one of us would get to fulfil their dream. You’ll become a wonderful lawyer, Taehyung hyung.”
The elder looked to his left with teary eyes. He knew Jeongguk really wanted to be a chef, he loved cooking. He knew the alpha would even like to have a restaurant of his own— but he was not financially stable for that yet— so he kept his dreams minimal. But with his disability, rank and the place they lived in, even that was difficult to achieve.
He cupped the younger’s slightly quivering chin and turned his face towards himself before placing a longing peck over Jeongguk’s forehead. He pretends he doesn’t hear the obvious purring that rumbles from the alpha’s chest, knowing it’s his wolf reacting that way.
“You know that if you want, you can come with me too, right?” Taehyung signed, his eyes hopeful.
“N-No,” the younger shook his head. “I don’t wanna become a burden to carry around.” He looked everywhere but in the other’s eyes, he knew he would be convinced to leave with the omega if he turned towards him. “I’ll… finish my school and look for something to do here.” The village head would help him anyway, even if he felt pathetic to be so dependent, what could an orphan do, anyway?
“I’ll come to you after I become a lawyer, will you come with me to the city then?”
Jeongguk’s eyes stayed stuck at the elder’s fingers even after they stopped moving. Would he? Would he become a baggage to another person once again in his life? But when Taehyung once again starts signing— he is convinced.
“You can become a chef there with no judgments, I promise. So,will you?” Eager eyes meet his own, and something akin to gratitude fills his chest before he nods as if on autopilot.
The silence after that stretches, but not awkward, rather comforting, the way it always was for them when with each other. Jeongguk hoped that the promise would be fulfilled someday, and Taehyung was relieved that the love of his life didn’t mind living in his company, or didn’t mind changing where he lived for him.
Okay, maybe the omega was delusional because the younger was just tempted to have his dream job, but a man could always hope. Right?
The alpha snaps his head at the remembrance. The elder had promised him. He had.
“F-Fuck,” Jeongguk gasps. “Did he come to take me back?” A smile blooms, though it is a rare sight for anyone who knows him.
The aspect of Taehyung remembering his words from years ago, and him returning back to fulfil them just makes him emotional. Now, he waits even more eagerly for the elder to come back.
They really need to talk. Or he’d die figuring out whether he will be left behind again to live his monotonous and pathetic life or really start a new one with the omega he loves so damn much.
He thanks the heavens for making him realise his feelings before he was really late and Taehyung had already slipped past his fingers. He had to make up for the years he had tried neglecting the omega and his feelings, including his own heart that had always been the elder’s.
But now… he would actually give light to each and every feeling that he had ever felt towards Taehyung. Because the omega deserved it, because he himself needed someone like the elder to keep him grounded and content.
When Taehyung returns, he springs up from his comic book that he picked up just to pass the time. Now, he has better things to focus on. Like the beautiful being in front of him.
The omega smiles briefly and plops next to him on the bed, peeking at the closed comic by Jeongguk’s side.
“You can read, you know.” He signed, shrugging at the last. “I won’t bother you.”
The alpha shook his head. “Wanna focus on you.”
“Okay, okay, hold on.” With his palms up in the air, he exclaims with his mouth. The omega knows the younger would understand that much, and he’s proven right when Jeongguk’s ears get coated with red instantly before he turns his head to the other side.
But Taehyung’s not having that today, not after he has heard the confession he has been dying to, not after finally being cleared off of his doubts. He hooks his fingers against the younger’s chin and gently makes him face himself.
The moment is intimate for no reason at all, but maybe that’s how it feels when your heart beats abnormally for the person in front of you. Breaths heavy, they look into each other’s eyes before it comes down to their lips— open and gaping.
Taehyung would like to be proud of his choice, Jeongguk is just so handsome and cute and gorgeous, anyone would be lucky to have him. Such a shame that people look at his little flaw of being a deaf man over his multiple brilliant qualities. The omega feels lucky to be in the place he is.
What he doesn’t know is that the alpha feels quite the same, probably on an even deeper level. Jeongguk likes to think he’s not really deserving of Taehyung— but he knows he has wasted so many years thinking just that. It’s time to leave it all in the past and actually acknowledge the elder loving him. He has been lucky for long, and now it’s time to revel in what they have for each other, without any doubts.
“Guess I can’t wait enough for this,” before the alpha gets to ask what it was that Taehyung mumbled, he gets a pair of lips over his own— soft and almost non-existent— like the other is still contemplating whether it should be done.
Jeongguk is left stunned in a place, his hands fisting the bed sheet beneath him, getting it crumpled. Not for too long, though. ‘Cause he’s holding the omega’s cheeks in both his palms in a cupping manner and kissing even deeper, making all the doubts vanish from the latter’s mind.
Time passes by so easily after that, laying on the bed that’s too small for them and talking about anything and everything, catching up on the years of gossip they’ve missed on and confessing things they never would’ve three years ago.
Their lips keep meeting midway, as if yearning to find home.
“Is there something special today?” Taehyung mumbles, looking outside the window while munching on the potato chips he bought with himself. Jeongguk, who has been lying sideways and staring at him like he hung stars— turns towards where the omega is looking.
“What happened? Something there?” He asks the elder who shook his head before signing his question.
“Was just wondering if there’s some festival today, look at the lights.” Pointing towards the window, he muses at the decorative lights.
“Oh…” the alpha thinks for a moment, before an imaginary light bulb glows over his head. “Today’s the yearly mating run.”
“Right now?” Taehyung signed, confused. As long as he lived here, they always had the mating run at almost the end of the year— so even if anyone who was just a few days away from turning the desired age wanted to participate, they could.
But it seemed like the unspoken rule was now not much given heed to. “They started doing it halfway through the year now.”
It was a torture, to not just claim the omega as his own. The only thing that stopped him was consent, and his age. He was only two months away from turning twenty-one, and honestly— he couldn’t fucking wait.
“That’s so unfair?!” The elder was exclaiming with both his mouth and fingers, looking seemingly furious, and Jeongguk’s mouth came apart in amusement. “You were just about to turn twenty-one, why the sudden change?”
A fond smile grazed the alpha’s lips, before he got up to face Taehyung. Mindlessly grabbing a chip from the packet and feeding it to the omega, who looks at him in curiosity. Smiling very mysteriously and as if he has something up his sleeve, the younger blurts out.
“Who cares? We won’t be here by that time. You’ll take me with you, right?” Hope courts his eyes, but they dim a bit when the omega looks taken aback.
Did I say something wrong? Did he forget about it all? Was I the only stupid one to still hold onto that? Fuck, I’m so fucking dumb. He will leave me now—
All his thoughts come to an abrupt halt when a hand rests over his own, albeit clammy and hesitant, and when Taehyung opens his mouth to answer, he feels his throat clogging up. Not because he’s nervous or saddened, but because he feels overwhelmed— touched.
“ Y-You still remember?” Midway realising that he’s whispering instead of signing, but just when his hands try to leave Jeongguk’s, the latter’s holding them in a tight grip instead, not letting go of it.
He doesn’t want to. Not after he’s finally allowed to grasp it forever. The alpha has already read Taehyung’s lips and guessed his question, anyway.
“I’ve held onto that one promise, hyung.” His smile soothes the elder, who hangs his head in relief.
He had come with the same motivation in his mind, and now that he’s listening from the love of his life that he’s ready to go with him— it’s unreal. He must be dreaming, right?
There were multiple times he had almost given up pursuing Jeongguk in the past, simply because he felt he was never going to succeed in making him his. But now, that has been the past, and the distance has finally made the alpha realise his feelings.
“Hyung.” That snaps Taehyung out of his thoughts, and he listens keenly. “I’m sorry.” Jeongguk sighs. “I took too long. I thought I’ll always have you beside me, and I kept keeping my confessions for some other day. And I didn’t even realise when you slipped past my fingers… without knowing that I love you the same.”
A few seconds of silence follows, their eyes finding solace in each other’s. Maybe the happiness is so fulfilling that the omega’s mouth doesn’t peer open, nor do his hands try leaving Jeongguk’s. So he just moves closer and rests his head over the alpha’s shoulder.
He wishes it reaches the younger that he’s thankful, so thankful that his love is reciprocated, thankful that he’s loved. And he hopes that it reaches Jeongguk that he’s just grateful that their feelings are mutual— and not even a bit despondent of the confession being late.
“I love you even more every day I live, hyung.” Taehyung clasps both his arms around the alpha’s shoulders, hugging him tight before burying his face completely into the crook of his neck. “Will you let me make you mine this fall, Taehyungie hyung?”
Jeongguk receives a weak punch from the omega, as if saying “you’re too cheesy” through his actions before Taehyung is nodding his head aggressively, almost tickling the younger’s neck, who giggles.
The elder gasps, detaching away before looking at the smiling alpha in awe. He had missed this, missed Jeongguk , missed his presence, missed the way he would only open his mouth with him because he felt comfortable only then.
Taehyung might have chased the alpha with everything, but he hadn’t failed to notice that the latter’s guards were always down when with him.
“I love you,” he signs, cupping Jeongguk’s cheeks into his palms before bringing their lips together for a brief kiss— which the younger reciprocates with the same energy and same bubbling adoration.
“Thank you.” Jeongguk whispers over their moving lips, diving in deeper and letting them stay there.
Maybe even if hours pass like that, who cares? Who cares when the right time has waited for too long already?
[31st August, few minutes before Jeongguk’s birthday]
“Mom, fuck! Can you tell me clearly if I didn’t add salt instead of sugar in the cake?”
“Stop cursing, and I already told you no !” Mrs. Kim exclaimed, already annoyed with how jittery her son was behaving.
“What if… the cake is just ass…” the omega looks down in his hands. He had been tired after he came back from the court hearing today, but he couldn’t let go of the opportunity to bake his alpha’s favourite chocolate cake for his birthday.
“Oh god, what’s with your mouth?” His mother smacks the back of his head, almost making Taehyung stumble along with the cake in his hands. “And we all know Jeongguk is head over heels for you, he’s gonna eat it anyway. Watch him.” She stated proudly, before checking the time on her phone, and then she waved her husband to come upstairs with the balloons he had been preparing.
“Just a minute, Taehyung.” Mrs. Kim whispered, before putting a palm over the doorknob. When the clock struck 12:00 am, they busted through the bedroom’s door.
“Surprise!!” They shouted in unison, startling the alpha with their sudden presence who had been scrolling through his phone. They knew he couldn’t hear them, but the emotion still travelled through.
“Oh my god.” Jeongguk put a palm over his lips, his eyebrows frowning in an attempt to keep in his tears. It has been forever since he has felt so loved. Now, the two months he had already spent with Taehyung and his family wasn’t enough— they have even decided to celebrate his birthday?
A cake on his birthday used to be a luxury, if it wasn’t for Taehyung who had always looked out for him until they lived in the same village, he wouldn’t have been able to have a birthday cake ever.
“Awe,” the omega’s lips turn down at the sight of the younger sobbing slightly. Keeping the cake down on the bed, he sits in front of Jeongguk. “It’s your birthday!” He signs, their little exchange making his parents behind smile big. “C’mon, smile for me, baby.”
The alpha is pretty good at reading lips, Taehyung’s lips most precisely, so when he reads the ‘baby’, he’s immediately blushing. He hasn’t become used to it, even though the omega insists on calling him pretty and cute nicknames literally every second.
“Alright, lovebirds!” Mr. Kim chimes from the behind, snapping them out of their little bubble. “Let’s cut the cake, shall we?”
The alpha does so, blowing the candle that Taehyung lit and wishing with his eyes closed.
“Happy birthday,” the omega kisses softly over his forehead before feeding the younger a piece of the cake, looking over at him in anticipation.
When Jeongguk frowns, his eyes light up with stars under them.
‘He likes it!!’ Turning towards his parents, his smile gives away enough of his excitement and glee. The two elders give a thumbs up before moving forward and coddling the birthday boy who was oblivious of the prior chaos that went into baking the cake.
The omega is sure he had given up and revitalised multiple times, crashed out while the cake whirred around in the microwave. He was lucky Jeongguk couldn’t hear, or Taehyung was sure he would be the first one in line to ruin his own surprise.
He was a disaster when it came to cooking, so baking was something he did out of impulse— and he just let the moon goddess decide for the cake’s well-being.
“Hyung.” When Taehyung’s parents left the room with the cake, leaving the balloons over their shared bed— Jeongguk mumbles. “I can’t believe this is all real.”
The omega pauses while washing his face and glancing around the bathroom. He smiles awkwardly at the fluffy handcuffs on the basin counter. Did he choose the wrong time for this? Is the alpha going to get emotional?
“Thank you for taking me with you.” Jeongguk looked at the bathroom door, waiting for Taehyung to get out of there. “I love living with you, do you know that?”
The elder clicks open the door and goes to sit on the bed, next to the alpha whose cheeks are red and glowing. It’s the birthday glow, but the omega is more nervous about the metal that clinks inside his sweatpants’ pockets.
“And I love you.” Taehyung signs and kisses the younger’s cheeks before smiling wide, receiving the same from the other.
Is he a pervert for not waiting at all and just going for it? He doesn’t fucking know, but the omega is straddling Jeongguk’s lap the next moment. The alpha gasps, his eyes wide open before he’s getting kissed.
He eases into the kiss quite quickly though, because it’s only natural to do so.
They don’t realise when the younger lets himself fall back on the bed, evidently weak at the toe-curling kisses. It’s heated, it’s rough, but nothing far from what they don’t like.
“Ngh,” their crotches brush against each other, and Jeongguk blanks out— with no thoughts in his head, he begs for more. He has never been on the receiving end of such a pleasure, but this is extremely addicting.
“H-Hyung…” the alpha moans and turns his head to the right when Taehyung grinds down harder, getting the signal immediately. “F-Fuck.”
The omega grasps Jeongguk’s cheeks between his fingers, turning him towards himself before attaching their lips, sucking onto the alpha’s spit-slicked ones. He smiles when he realises the kind of effect he has on the younger.
Leaning back, he takes in the vision below him. “Beautiful…” he whispers. And because the alpha is hyper aware of his surroundings right now, he reads it perfectly, making his cheeks and ears coat red instantly.
Taehyung yanks away his tee, making the younger question his sanity for a moment. He gulps loudly, and it emits a chuckle out of the omega’s lips. Pulling on the hem of Jeongguk’s tee, he signals for it to be taken off as well.
Their lips meet halfway when Jeongguk sits up, not being able to really stay away. The temptation to just keep kissing is strong, but their twitching cocks are merciless.
Taehyung grasps the hem of the alpha’s tee and pulls them off him, letting his lips explore deeper after letting their lips detach. The elder’s lips suck onto the side of Jeongguk’s neck— making him moan loudly.
“Ah!”
“Tsk,” the omega smirks. If the alpha is so loud already, what would he be when they get to the real thing? He wonders, before his fingers reach closer and into the younger’s mouth, making his sounds muffled.
Instantly, Jeongguk’s lips close onto them, sucking them in earnest. “Such a good boy.” The alpha whispers at the bite at his pulse point, right where he’s supposed to be marked with his mating mark.
“Taehyung— p-please!” He begs, clutching the fabric of the omega’s sweatpants.
The elder raises an eyebrow, waiting to hear him out, but when Jeongguk says nothing and only stares at him with his big puppy eyes, his resolve breaks and he’s cursing out loud. “Fuck!”
With his fingers still inside the younger’s slobbering mouth, and his eyes begging for more relief— the omega is sold. He’s fucking endeared and all the more needy for the alpha.
Pressing over Jeongguk’s tongue for one last time, he takes his palms out and holds the alpha’s wrists before letting his hands rest over his own asscheeks. Understanding the memo, the younger hooks his fingers under the sweats and tucks them under Taehyung’s ass, taking his boxers halfway down as well.
The omega leans to leave a soft and chaste kiss over his lips, as if praising the alpha for his good work.
Easing his spit-slicked fingers into his puckering asshole, he hovers above the alpha’s body— whose palms lower onto Taehyung‘s thighs, feeling the metal inside the next second. Quizzically, he stares over to the omega’s face, but his eyes are closed as his back arches at the intrusion of his own fingers.
He considers asking what it is, but when he looks at the sight that’s so close to him, it affects him in a way never before— and he’s immediately retreating his palms away. He’s a good alpha, and good alphas are supposed to wait until their omega commands them to do something.
It’s hard to resist not doing anything when Taehyung makes such sultry expressions while fingering himself, his dick twitching in excitement and his wolf howling from the utter need to just do something— just get his hands on the elder and be done with him.
But no— if the omega hasn’t asked him to do anything, he’ll stay put and wait for the word. An exhale of breath over his face snaps him out of his reverie, and when he looks back to focus on Taehyung’s face, his mouth is wide open and eyes are almost rolling back from the pleasure.
And for the nth time in his life, he regrets that he can’t hear. His omega is so beautifully hovering over him and moaning so ecstatically, and he can’t enjoy them? What a shame!
“Mhm,” Jeongguk whines, not realising that it’s loud enough to alert the elder who pays attention. Realising that he has been just pleasuring himself for too long now— he decides to do the same with the alpha under him.
With his fingers still inside himself, he shifts a bit further away and then slowly lowers the younger’s sweats and boxers, enough to get his cock out. Taehyung’s mouth salivates the moment it springs up with a gentle twitch.
Teasing the tip with his thumb while wrapping his palm around the length, his other hand still moves inside himself. “ Ngh ,” his mouth vibrates around Jeongguk’s length and it sends the latter into another dimension for a second as he gasps throatily and throws his head back.
When Taehyung keeps on sucking his dick for more than a whole minute, the alpha’s body squirms in sensitivity and his hands reach down to grasp onto the elder’s shoulders— trying to gently pry him away.
His breath stutters when the omega hums over his twitching and red cock before taking his wrists into a hold and pinning them against the mattress, his asshole unattended now. Jeongguk’s toes curl at the action, his back arching as Taehyung takes him in deeper.
“H-Hyung, I’m gonna c-cum— fuck, ngh.” His sentence ends with a high-pitched moan when his dick gets devoid of the warmth, but he doesn’t get to protest much. Because Taehyung is leaving to stand against the bed, his back towards him as he gets rid of his pants completely. And if the omega’s torso made him lose his sanity— what he sees in front of him makes his mind go haywire.
The elder is not even doing it knowingly, but his ass is so perky Jeongguk is in a trance. Has he caught himself staring at the omega’s ass? Yes. Has he actually ever drooled at the way it’s so thick and perfect? Absolutely. But the fact that now he’s going to have the first hand experience of feeling that ass against himself is unworldly.
Jeongguk gulps when Taehyung straddles him again, already rid of the alpha’s pants and boxers. Now completely naked and in-contact with each other’s bodies, their lips find each other, fitting like a jigsaw puzzle as the younger sits up, hands travelling to hold the omega’s waist.
“Hah!” The elder gasps into his mouth at the sudden movement, smirking because it fills him with the thrill. Jeongguk’s hands travel downwards, stopping at the rim of his asshole, and it’s his turn to gasp when he feels the slick collecting there.
“Oh my god.” He looks up with his wide and shocked eyes to Taehyung who’s smirking— like it’s the most natural thing to do. The alpha groans, turned on and desperate to fuck into the hole now.
That’s when his eyes travel to his left, catching the metal handcuffs with a part covered with a fluffy material. So, that was what it was. He realises he likes the idea of being constrained while the elder has his way with him, so he moves back to rest his back over the headboard— letting Taehyung be dragged with him.
Words don’t do the job then, Jeongguk fists his hands and motions them forward in a way that indicates them being cuffed and waits for it. The omega’s hole clenches from that alone, before he hurriedly reaches for the handcuffs and locks his hands with them.
He doesn’t even need to do anything after that, because the alpha himself makes his arms rest against the headboard, holding onto it and waiting for Taehyung to do something. Biting his lips in anticipation, he fidgets with the metal above.
The omega straddles closer, holding onto his shoulders before reaching back to hold the younger’s cock into his hands and then easing it into himself. Taehyung doesn’t wait, he moves up and down with his palms holding tightly onto the alpha’s shoulders.
“F-Fuck, baby,” he moans when the cock stretches him completely. “ S-So good .”
Jeongguk keeps trying to read whatever his omega speaks even when his eyes are on the verge of closing on their own. Even when his head rolls back in ecstasy— he keeps his utmost focus over what expression Taehyung adorns.
He would’ve loved to leave marks, leave his handprints over the elder’s pretty, lean and small waist— tanned with the skin tone.
The omega keeps moving back and forth, increasing his pace as each second passes by, making the younger breath heavily and whine high in his throat. “H-Hyung, I’m so c-close, s-shit!” Jeongguk’s back curves forward in the process, and his whole face is coated with pink. With the flush so prominent, Taehyung would like to argue the alpha is the prettiest being ever.
Squeezing the younger’s cheeks into his fingers, he places a firm kiss over the puckered lips, leaning back for a second before attaching their mouths again. Jeongguk’s wrists falter for a moment, almost leaving their original position so the omega takes them into his hold and pins them back again— tilting his head to the right as their kiss deepens.
The heat and slick around the alpha’s length makes him reach the ninth cloud, almost making his hips stutter and thrust upwards. He isn’t sure if he’s allowed to, so he has a ‘sorry’ hanging over his tongue, but then his hands feel empty.
The handcuffs come undone by Taehyung, before he guides Jeongguk’s palms to his waist, burying his head against the younger’s neck. The omega has stopped moving completely, letting the alpha know he’s free to do whatever now.
He takes the lead from there, his arms wrapping completely around the elder’s waist before flipping them over right in the middle of the bed. Even if Taehyung’s head is near the footboard— their minds cloud with too much pleasure to think.
Jeongguk places a pillow below the elder’s head and goes in again, now firmly holding the omega’s waist before starting to thrust. He hasn’t done this ever before per se, but he follows what his instincts ask him to.
“Argh! It f-feels so g-good.” Mindlessly, he chants, loud enough to flinch Taehyung who was almost lost in the feeling of his insides getting wrecked just like he needs it to be.
The omega giggles, catching the younger off-guard when he pulls him into a kiss again— shutting him off. Now, with their sounds muffled— the skin slapping and squelching becomes prominent to their ears, making the atmosphere even more sensual and sexy.
When their breath starts coming in pants and they’re forced to leave each other’s lips, Taehyung smiles in adoration as he watches how Jeongguk regains his breath, looking like a puppy in his eyes.
Easing the frowned eyebrows, the elder leans forward to kiss on those flushed pink cheeks before signing. “You’re too loud, not that I’ve a problem but mom and dad are probably sleeping in the next room to us.”
“Oh,” the alpha’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry.”
“No, moan for me.” Taehyung signs again, “but here.” Pointing towards the curve of his neck, he grabs Jeongguk’s nape and makes him bury his face against his neck.
He feels the alpha gulping, his breath hitching before he moves his hips again. “Ugh, I c-can’t hear you!” He whines. “It’s a torture.” With his complaints, the thrusts keep getting harsher, finally making the omega reach his peak.
“Oh, baby.” Taehyung whispers to himself, kissing over the younger’s hair and keeping him close to himself.
Wrapping his limbs around Jeongguk’s tiny waist, he makes him reach even deeper and groans at the feeling. His prostate produces another gush of slick, coating the alpha’s dick and dripping on the mattress beneath.
They reach their climaxes soon, moaning into each other’s mouth as they kiss.
With a little squelch, they detach for a millisecond before their tongues tangle together, the hunger dripping through. Jeongguk almost gets impatient in the middle of it— moving his hips accidentally but Taehyung pulls away and shakes his head.
“Sensitive, baby.” He mouths, his eyes filled with unshed but pleasured tears.
The alpha mutters an apology before pulling out, hissing at the cold air that hits his limp cock. “Hyung, I love you.” Jeongguk lays down beside Taehyung, pulling him in his embrace before snuggling back. “That was amazing.” His voice rumbles against the omega’s chest as he kisses over there.
Taehyung kisses lovingly over the younger’s head, closing his eyes in comfort.
“I love you too.” He presses against the alpha’s lips, entangling them for the nth time.
Maybe it took time, but they’ve found their way to each other. And that— all the more— makes their love grow over themselves. It engulfs them in a way they love, and their hearts and wolves feel complete.
And if you ask them, they’d do it all over again. Taehyung would wait all over again, studying for his desired job if it meant he could return back to Jeongguk. And Jeongguk could live that same boring and monotonous life all over again, if it meant that he could live beside the omega he had loved for almost forever.
Cause love was meant to find them. It took time, but it happened like it was always meant to.
Because love, for them, was each other. And that was probably the most lovely thing ever.
