Work Text:
It was a clear night as Hawks and Tokoyami strolled slowly towards the classroom dorms, normally it would be Aizawa that would collect his problem children from the hospital but something had come up at the last minute and well Hawks didn't want to admit it but he wanted to check in on the little intern. After all it was a was a mission that they were on together when Tsukuyomi got injured, heroically throwing himself in front of a civilian women and her children when a villain when on a rampage.
The villain had a long, sharp, metal almost spear-like knife and had stabbed Tokoyami. Now stabbings where common among hero's but in reality most of the "stabbings" were mostly slashes; surface injuries that caused sick looking scars but unless they hit an artery, you were fine. What Tokoyami received was defiantly a stabbing, the wound looked small but it went deep, and was much more serious than it looked.
In this specific case Tokoyami's wound was healing well but; it had struck some very important nerves and muscles in his body. The ones that controlled his bladder function. Doctors had done what they could but advised that it would take time for them to properly heal, therefore Tokoyami would have to wear a diaper, unless he constantly wanted to wet himself. The muscle damage meant he wasn't able to hold it and the nerve damage meant that he couldn't even feel the sensation of needing to go in the first place. So the diaper was going to have to be a 24/7 thing.
Hawks glanced over at the smaller bird, he was very quiet, well that wasn't unusual for him, Tokoyami wasn't much a talker but tonight it was even more so. Call it intuition or whatever but Hawks could feel that boy was on edge or nervous. Maybe it was the careful deliberate steps he was taking or how his feathers are just slightly fluffed/ruffled. They were almost to the dorms.
Hawks cleared his throat "Ahem, so ... you all set for when you get back? How's the injury feeling? Doctors give you some extra bandages incase you pop a stitch or something, get any good painkillers?"
Tokoyami gently placed his palm to the side of his abdomen, "Yes the Doctors have given me extra bandages so I can change these ones when required, mostly after bathing. If I rip any of the stiches I am to go to Recovery Girl...." After a quick side long glance at the older man he said "I have received pain medication with strict instructions on how much I am to take... You cannot have any."
Hawks chuckled "Aw Tsukuyomi I am offended that you would think I would ask such a thing and offended that you won't help a bro out and share. What about the diapers? You got enough? Know what you're doing so you don't get diaper rash?"
Tokoyami visibly flinched at the questions, his red eyes going wide shocked that Hawks was just so casually bringing that up, out in the open no less where anyone could hear them and-
"Hey - hey, you okay?" asked Hawks gently grabbing him on the shoulder.
"Wha -am I - Hawks-san, how could you just - we are in public! Anyone could hear us!"
Hawks looks up and down the empty street, "There's literally no one around."
Tokoyami's indigent splutters die in his throat, exasperation crashing over him, "I will surly exhaust my painkiller supply before I reach to dorms through the headaches you give me," but his still looked visibly shaken.
"Aizawa sensei messaged me earlier, he has managed to sneak several boxes into the dorms and hidden them in my bathroom,"
"Sneaked in?"
"Yes, thank Satan for this one small miracle that my classmates do not know about - about" Tokoyami couldn't bring himself to say it, his beak snapping shut as he tried to calm his breathing.
Hawks raised an eyebrow "Hey I know it's awkward thing to announce at your "Congrats on getting out of the Hospital" party - but you are going to tell them right?"
Tokoyami snorted "Please if we held a party for every time one of us came back from the hospital we would put those American frat houses to shame." He pointedly avoided Hawks question, which did not go unnoticed by the older man. "From what I last saw on the class group chat, there will be no grand celebration for me, it may shock you that I am not the most popular of students,"
"The brooding emo kid isn't popular - gasp - you're joking!"
"but it seems there will be a movie night in the common area for anyone who wants to attend, I have already advised that I might be drowsy from the painkillers - I can make my escape to my room probably just after the movie starts"
"And?"
"And...what?"
"When are you going to tell them?"
"I'm not."
"Hey-"
"No."
"Look-"
"No is a complete sentence."
Tokoyami intentionally quickened his pace, Hawks huffed and jogged a bit to keep up, "Didn't take you to be a chicken,"
Tokoyami glared at his mentor but didn't reply or slow down, that is until they rounded the next corner, the UA dorms were just visible at the end of the street. Hawks glanced worriedly at Tokoyami, his eyes fixed nervously at the dorms looming up ahead, he had slowed his walk down that they were hardly moving and hunched in on himself, his breathing was short and shallow again. Hawks was worried the other might have a panic attack, he opened his mouth to say something when -
"Hawks, please be honest with me."
"Yeah sure."
Tokoyami visibly gulped before he next spoke like he was trying to force the words out, "Can-can you tell?"
"Ah do you mean-"
"Can. You. Tell?" asked Tokoyami again more desperate this time, he gestured to the lower half of his sports uniform that he was wearing, "Is-is it noticeable, can you hear it when I walk?"
"Hey, hey -its okay," Hawks repeated grabbing Tokoyami by the shoulders making him face him "It's okay. Tokoyami breath, you're a hero. Just breath." They stood there for a moment while Tokoyami calmed down but Hawks could still feel the tension in the young birds shoulders.
Eventually Hawks let go and looked behind them at the dorms, "...this is why I want you to tell them"
"What?!?"
Hawks smirked and ruffled the feathers at the back of Tokoyami's head, "Look at you baby chick, all stressed out and in a panic. You are supposed to be on your way to recovery, being on edge like this isn't going to help, if you are constantly worrying about this and trying to hide it from, what like 20 people you live and go to school with, you're going to have a breakdown and you know what will happen then; you'll start moulting. And look you're already small, I don't think you could handle being bald."
Tokoyami broke away from him, "You don't understand-"
"Look I know you must be scared-
"I'm not scared!" snapped Tokoyami, "I'm mortified!"
He started pacing on the sidewalk, "Listen I know there is nothing I can do about this and wearing them is for my own good, and if I could go back I would still do it all again to save that lady and her children, but- but if there is any chance I can keep this from the rest of the class, I -I don't want to sound cliché like "No not my street cred, anything but my street cred" but if they find out about this I will never live it down. This will be all they will talk about, and-and they will make fun of me. I'm not like you Hawks-san, I'm not cool or confident, not when it comes to interacting with others. I do not wish for them to see this weakness, that I wish I could bury in the shadows."
Hawks stood stunned for a minute, "Woah, I can't believe it. You think I'm cool...I knew it."
"That is what you take away from all that?!?"
"Okay, okay jokes aside, look I can't say that I know what your going through but I can tell you that the fact you said you would still do it all again, is why I am so proud of you and why I know you will make a great hero. You are always striving to keep going, to push through to become better, so let me tell you this. The weakness you need to work on now is right here," Hawks poked Tokoyami in the chest, "Let others in to help you, support you. Physically they can't fix this but they can be there for you, don't try to bury your emotions, if you feel scared, upset, anxious - whatever. From what you have told me and from the fact that Aizawa hasn't expelled your whole cohort, those misfits are on the way to being great hero's too. I'm not saying they're perfect but I think you know that the majority will stand with you. But you have to face your fear of being vulnerable so they know you need them to step up."
"Hawks-san, I -I can't-"
"Oh come on, that was such a cool motivating speech," exclaimed Hawks, "Look I'm telling you as your slightly older, definitely cooler with loads of worldly experience mentor. Take my advice. Go in there and tell them, fuck it; burst into tears when you do, some might be dicks and tease you but I'm willing to bet Endeavour's stolen credit card that most will be there for you, tell you everything will be alright, hug you until its nothing but a giant cuddle pile and try and stuff your face with treats and hot cocoa and positive affirmations until you miraculously feel better."
Tokoyami let go a shuddering breath and he wrapped his arms around himself, "A farfetched delusion if I ever heard one,"
Hawks groaned, augh why do teenagers never listen to good advice.
"Lets go," muttered Tokoyami walking to the dorms with renewed dread "Please promise you will not speak of this in front of my classmates,"
"Fine. I won't say a word... as long as you keep quiet about Endeavours credit card,"
~~~
Tokoyami inwardly groaned when the two of them entered the dorm common rooms and the connecting kitchen area. There was happy chatter and the smell of popcorn in the air. The students in the area were the members of the Bakusquad - with the addition of Mineta showing Kaminari something on his phone, and Jirou and Yaoyorozu setting up the big screen projector with Ashido. Not anyone Tokoyami was particularly close friends with, honestly most of the members of the Bakusquad gave him flashbacks to his middle school years of the popular kids that were loud, in your face and always ready to point out some new weird thing the freaky bird kid was doing.
Tokoyami shook his head, they were not the same people that bullied him when he was younger despite how Bakugou's unoriginal "bird brain" nickname was something that had followed him his whole life, the first insult he received in kindergarten. He glanced nervously at Hawks silently praying that the man would keep his word and keep his mouth shut. He certainly didn't want it announced that he was wearing a diaper in front of these classmates.
Kirishima spotted him first, "HEY Tokoyami man, welcome back!" Getting up off the couch to come over to him, the others followed.
"Good to see you man!"
"How are you feeling?"
"Welcome home!"
"Yay, we didn't know when you were coming back, we can put it in the group chat and let everyone know."
"Try not to get stabbed next time loser,"
"Easy Bakubro, the guy saved a whole family! That's so manly."
Hawks stood back with his arms folded as everyone surrounded Tokoyami, genuinely happy that their classmate was back home with them, but he had a sinking sensation in his stomach as he watched Tokoyami shrink in slightly on himself as everyone gathered around. Tokoyami couldn't help it, he felt slightly overwhelmed with all the attention on him and everyone so close, he nervously ran his hands down the sides of his tracksuit, a subconscious effort to make sure everything was flat.
"Hey let's see the injury!" said Sero "You know any new scars means you have to add a dollar to Aizawa's early retirement fund jar."
Tokoyami stepped back waving his hands in front of him, "Oh no, um its fine, it's really small and the Doctors said not to remove the bandages yet," Tokoyami really just didn't want all their eyes focused on his body, what if the top of the diaper poked out of his pants?
After a few minutes of awkward small talk the others headed back to what they were previously doing, Mina did a double fist bump in the air, "Alright lets get on with Movie Night, Tokoyami your choice tonight."
"Oh... um, that's alright I was actually going retire early, I'm still quite tired from the hospital"
"Aww boo, just fall asleep on the couch like Bakugou -"
"I do not!"
"And Kirishima can carry you upstairs to your bed - just like Bakugou-"
"He does not!"
"I-I'm sorry I must declin-
Hawks then decided to make a bad decision. He knew it was a bad decision, from a lifetime of making bad decisions but from the last few minutes watching Tokoyami he knew if he didn't that the little bird would pull further and further away from what little social life and interactions with his classmates he had; constantly hiding in his room, trying to keep his secret hidden. Sometimes things needed to get worse before they could get better.
He clapped his hands loudly to get everyone's attention and then walked over and ruffled Tokoyami's feathers again, "Alright little buddy I'm going to take flight but before I go-"
He then reached down with both hands grabbing the waistband of Tokoyami's pants and in one swift movement pulled them all the way down below his knees.
Tokoyami froze in absolute shock.
Several people's jaws dropped. "What the hell?" exclaimed Mineta.
Tokoyami gave a loud strangled pained cry that sounded like it was mixed with a ravens caw, "HAWKS!?"
"Hey, I didn't say anything to them!" Hawks shouted behind him as he flew out into the night.
~~~
Tokoyami quickly yanked his pants back up moving faster than he ever had in his entire life. But the damage was done.
Kaminari, Mineta, Sero, Kirishima, and MIna burst in to laughter at the sight of the diaper, even Jirou snorted, Momo looking scandalized gasped covering her mouth with her hand a blush creeping across her face, only Bakugou didn't seem to care, his trademark scowl on his face.
"Ha! Dude no way, the hospital put you in a diaper!"
Tokoyami was stunned, he couldn't believe that had just happened, that bastard Hawks - how could he! He couldn't breath and tears were were already welling up in his eyes.
Get out of here. RUN. NOW
Tokoyami started sprinting towards the stairs, but it felt like he was moving in slow motion, his classmates laughter echoing in his ears. He was shaking so badly his legs felt like jelly and he was gasping, already choking out sobs.
"Hey Tokoyami wait-"
He didn't want to humiliate himself further by crying in front of everyone but he knew it was already too late, he could barely see from the streams of tears pouring out of his eyes. Forcing a burst of energy to hurl himself up the stairs, there was an almighty crash as he ran directly into something solid, sending him flying backwards onto the floor, followed by a loud metallic clang next to him. He cried out in pain from the fall grabbing his injured side.
"Oh no, I'm sorry - are you okay?" "What's going on?"
Looking up from the ground, he could see he had run straight into Satou and Shouji who were carrying trays of freshly baked cookies down the stairs, though Satou's plate now laying on the floor.
It was over. There was no hope he could push past two of the largest students in the class to get up the stairs and everybody in the room had already rushed over after him anyway. Crouching on his knees, throwing his arms up to cover his head, he cowered into a ball trying to sink into the floor. He could feel Dark Shadow in its small cute chibi form pop up rubbing the back of his neck "Fumikage? Fumi??"
Tokoyami hated this, it was bad enough that he was crying uncontrollably now but to make matters worse he was an ugly crier.
Huge heaving sobs and wails mixed with embarrassing distressed bird chirps and squawks. Waterfalls of tears pouring down his face that would give Midoriya a run for his money. He just couldn't stop.
"I didn't want you to find out about this, I knew you would all make fun of me, why did Hawks do that to me?!"
Everyone else was so worried, they had never seen Tokoyami this distressed before. Those who were first there were trying to comfort him and apologize at the same time knowing that their teasing had caused this, even though they never meant to hurt their friend like this. Mina, Jirou and Momo had thrown themselves onto him to hug or cradle him, stroking his back gently, hoping physical closeness might calm him down.
He went into a strange state almost disassociating where he wasn't aware what was going on around him and yet at the same time he was. He could hear and feel more and more people arriving on the scene, more people pushing themselves close to him, holding him. Some were telling him everything was alright, others desperately asking what was wrong, but he couldn't respond to any of them, he just sobbed and sobbed.
He cringed with shame each time someone new arrived and the story was told over and over again in hushed tones about how Hawks had pantsed him in front of everyone revealing he was wearing a diaper.
Everyone's responses were of shock and pity.
"How could he do that?" "Oh Tokoyami it's okay" "Please don't cry everything will be alright" Tokoyami couldn't even tell you who was saying what to him. The notable exception was Iida, who loudly exclaimed "HOW DARE HAWKS DO THAT - THAT IS EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR! TO PERFORM SUCH AN ACT TO A MINOR UNDER HIS CARE, IT'S UNBECOMING OF A HERO!" Bang!
"Oh damn... Iida air chops: 1, drywall: 0."
There was more talking and then;
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LAUGHED AT HIS PREDICAMENT -IT'S PART OF HIS MEDICAL CARE!" Bang!
"THAT IS EXTREMELY INAPPOPRIATE BEHAVIOUR AND UNBECOMING OF HEROS!" Another bang!
"...Iida air chops: 3, drywall: 0, Will someone make him move away from the wall?"
Tokoyami just wished he could disappear, he didn't know how long he spent crying on the floor but eventually his sobs began to subside. Not because he had calmed down or was feeling better but because he had succumbed to exhaustion and fatigue.
"Hey Tokoyami please get up, let us help you get somewhere more comfortable. Which would be better the couch or your room?" pleaded Midoriya.
"Please take me to the nearest highway so I can walk directly into traffic," rasped Tokoyami his throat raw.
"...couch it is."
Tokoyami allowed himself to be manhandled up and guided onto the couch, he just didn't have the strength to resist. He kept his eyes firmly downcast avoiding eye contact with everyone but this was made difficult as most of the Bakusquad kneeled down in front of him. Shouji sat down next to him and gently wrapped his arms around him, Uraraka and Tsu produced a hairbrush from somewhere and were gently trying to brush his feathers that he nearly yanked out back into their original position. The others sat down on the surrounding couches or stood nearby.
Kaminari was munching down on an armful of cookies he had gathered and held one out for Tokoyami to take but,
"Denki no - stop! What are you doing?" snapped Jirou.
"Huh?"
"Those were on the floor."
"...so? You guys get me to charge your phones all the time, those chargers are always laying on the floor."
Iida pushed Kaminari's hand aside and passed Tokoyami a water bottle instead, he was carrying two for some reason.
Tokoyami opened it with shaking hands and took a very small sip.
"Why don't you just take the diaper off?" deadpanned Todoroki as if this was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Yeah Todoroki's right, you'll feel much better once you change back into your normal clothes." said Sero, there was general murmurs of agreement around the class.
Tokoyami gave a small sniff and slowly shook his head, "... I can't." he mumbled quietly.
"Huh?"
Iida cleared his throat, "He can't. There have been some ...complications that have arisen from his injury." Iida paused while the weight of these words sunk in, "The stab wound caused damage to certain groups of muscles and nerves in Tokoyami's body, specifically those control his bladder function."
Silence filled the room as the grim realisation hit in. Those who had initially laughed at Tokoyami felt awful. They didn't realise how serious everything was.
Everyone suddenly renewed their cries of apology to Tokoyami,
"We're so sorry," "We didn't mean it." "We thought the hospital just put it on you while you were under for surgery! We didn't think it was permanent!"
"Bro we're really really sorry!" "Oh my god, please forgive us man, we're sorry!" "Isn't there anything we can do?!"
Tokoyami wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, looking around he could see how genuine and upset everyone was, there was nothing but concern on their faces, not a single look of mocking or disgust that he was afraid of.
"Please; we're so sorry, can you ever forgive us?"
While he still felt upset and embarrassed beyond belief, Tokoyami found that he could forgive them. He gave a small nod. This caused everybody to surround him again and give him another big hug.
Eventually when it broke apart everyone hovered around awkwardly, no one quite sure of what to do next.
"Is there really nothing the Doctors can do?" asked Shouji
"They are hopeful that I should recover in time but they advised it will least be a few months before there are any signs of improvement." said Tokoyami quietly.
Again there was a long drawn out silence. Tokoyami didn't have the energy to move. And nobody knew what to say or do.
Eventually Kaminari started to fidget, unable to stay still for too long, he picked up a cookie again and tried to pass it to Tokoyami, before Jirou smacked his hand.
"Denki no floor cookies."
This seemed to break the tension in the room.
"He can have some of the ones that didn't fall,"
"Actually I can quickly whip up some more cakes,"
"We'll get some snacks from the kitchen,"
"Toko I'll make you some hot cocoa"
Soon everyone was quickly scrambling to get things, the coffee table quickly filled with all kinds of junk food, he was wrapped in a weighted blanket and soft pillows appeared, random plush toys, fidget spinners, warm mittens, Koda's pet rabbit, an Allmight figurine, silk handkerchiefs, colouring books and pens, an unopened pack of soba noodles, another Allmight figurine, a bedazzled handheld mirror and Jirou had bought down a guitar that people were taking turns playing different songs on, in between people showing Tokoyami different online videos on their phone, everyone trying to one up each other in an attempt to find something that would make him laugh.
While Tokoyami apricated their efforts, he couldn't abruptly do a 180 with his mood and miraculously feel better. But he did feel a lot calmer now knowing that he wasn't going to be subjected endless torment and teasing from everyone.
He sat there quietly as everyone chattered around him, each person in their own way trying to cheer him up, through physical touch, kind words, their own prized possessions or trying to distract him from everything but as time went on Tokoyami noticed that Iida kept doing something odd.
Every time Tokoyami put down the cup of hot cocoa, say to hold someone else's phone to watch a video or when a new soft toy was passed to him, when he was done Iida kept picking up the cup and putting it back into his hands. He also started doing it when Tokoyami didn't have anything in his hands but he just tried to leave the cup on the coffee table, Iida would wait about 30 seconds and then pick it back up and give it back to him.
Every single time.
Others started noticing it too, after about the dozenth time it happened. Mina nudged the boys and raised her eyebrows, urging them to follow her lead. This time when Tokoyami put the cup down, Mina waited until just before Iida went to reach for it and picked it up herself. Iida's eyes widened with confusion, his arm outstretched awkwardly with nothing to pick up. Mina didn't drink any just held it her up in front of her with two hands while deliberately refusing to look in Iida's direction chatting away as normal. Then she put it back down on the coffee table like nothing happened.
Iida gave a small sigh of relief and went to pick it up when Sero grabbed it. Again he didn't drink it just held it for a short time, otherwise behaving as normal and then placed it back on the coffee table. Then Kaminari picked it up. Beads of sweat started to appear on Iida's forehead and his hands started trembling like he wanted to do full air chops but was restraining himself.
"Wow this is such a nice cup," said Denki in mock seriousness before placing it back down on the table. Iida went to pick it up but Mina grabbed it again.
"It has such an interesting design," she said holding up pretending to examine it.
"Does it? It just looks yellow to me." said Todoroki,
"Oh no Todoroki it's very impressive," said Mina putting the cup back on the table but not letting go, "Here you should pick it up!"
Todoroki went to grab it, but Iida couldn't take it anymore, "Todoroki no!" he cried snatching the drink up and gently depositing it back into Tokoyami's hands.
Those who had been following the show started giggling, "Iida you need to chill out," muttered Jirou.
"It is crucial for the next 11 to 13 weeks that Tokoyami maintains steady and consistent intake of fluids for maintaining his health and well-being as well as promoting his recovery. And-and right now he urgently needs to replace the water he would have lost from crying or he risks suffering from dehydration." He added quietly "You have only drunk about a quarter of this drink so far Tokoyami."
"Easy Iida you don't need to pressure him."
But something nagged at the back of Tokoyami's brain with what Iida just said, it was almost word for word the doctors had told him before leaving the hospital about the importance of drinking, also;
"Iida...how did you know the exact number of weeks my Doctors advised it would take before I could expect to see any improvements in my condition?" he asked quietly. He also realised that Iida had known about his condition when he explained it to the others earlier, but he shouldn't have, he should have been just like the others and assumed the diaper was only required while he was admitted to the hospital.
Iida froze, then he looked away and shuffled his feet nervously, "I-I am truly sorry Tokoyami, it is such a betrayal to your privacy but... Aizawa sensei confided in me about your condition. He asked me as the class representative to keep an eye on you for your physical welfare. For example Aizawa said if he could not sneak your required boxes of diapers into the dorms without the risk of the others finding out, then during class he would give me a pretend errand to run to the office - but in fact I could quickly take the boxes to your room while everyone was in class. But most importantly Aizawa sensei wanted me to observe and report back to him your drinking habits. Specifically if it appeared that you were deliberately avoiding drinking. Sensei said that you might become anxious and in an attempt to minimise the use of your diapers, you might intentionally resort to severely lowering your fluid intake."
Tokoyami blinked a small blush growing on his face that was thankfully masked by his black feathers.
"Busted." cooed the little Dark Shadow, popping up and giving Tokoyami a gentle headbutt to the side of his face.
"Oi! You fucking better not be planning on pulling that shit, you reject KFC wannabe!" snapped Bakugou.
"No- I -"
"When the hospital told you Hawks was coming instead of Aizawa, you didn't finish that cup of water they gave you, you hid it behind the pot plant," said Dark Shadow.
"Shhhhh! Hush Dark Shadow!"
Everyone started talking to voice their concerns.
"Oh Tokoyami no,"
"You can't do that yourself, it'll just make things worse."
"Please don't do that."
Tokoyami hunched in on himself, wanting to deny it but he had to admit it had crossed his mind; not stopping drinking completely obviously but having smaller amounts so that perhaps then he could time he would need to go, something to give him some small amount of control back over his body autonomy.
"Bro if you're anxious about using them, then we'll join you and use them too!" exclaimed Kirishima.
That immediately shut everyone up.
Tokoyami felt the entire classes attention shift from himself to Kirishima.
"Well how about it? Will that help?" Kirishima asked enthusiastically seemingly oblivious to everyone else's stunned silence.
Tokoyami sat there dumbfounded.
This is it, he thought, this is undeniable proof that Kirishima has actual brain damage because of all the possible things to suggest to help me, how in the world does he come up the idea of volunteering the entire class to wear diapers.
Tokoyami looked around at everyone in the room, their expressions were of shock, embarrassment, disbelief and something else that he couldn't quite place.
The thought of it was sheer insanity, it was ridiculous, what a mad banquet of darkness - and yet nobody was objecting to this suggestion!
Uraraka snapped him out of his daze when she cried out "Well?" she said with a look of fierce determination in her eyes, her stance looking like she was ready to brawl villains, "Would it?!"
Resolve. That was the other emotion mixed in with everyone's expressions Tokoyami realised. If he gave the word; they would do this for him.
He felt lightheaded and almost started crying again. To think that everyone would be willing to do that for him, he was so touched.
"Everyone...I don't have the words...thank you..." he muttered wiping his eyes with the back of his hand again.
"Alright! Lets do this!" exclaimed Kirishima, "Do you have enough for each of us? Oh wait - we'd have to get different sizes right? The girls will need smaller ones, cause guys are packing-"
"Wait -wait, no! I'm touched you'd be willing to do this for me but its really not necessary. But truly thank you, you don't know how much the offer means to me."
"Oh if you're sure?" said Kirishima "Hey - in that case, us guys will be there for you when you need changing! We can-"
"That absolutely won't be necessary!" squawked Tokoyami in alarm.
"How about-Hmph" gagged Kirishima as Bakugou stuffed several floor cookies into his mouth.
"Merci, tu es un dieu parmi les simples hommes." whispered Aoyama patting Bakugou on his shoulder, as everyone else chuckled, even Tokoyami smiled, he was finally miraculously starting to feel better.
~~~
They finally finished setting up the projector and put on a movie and Tokoyami was starting to relax. He could still feel his classmates attention on him from time to time, he's pretty certain that Iida didn't even begin to start watching the screen until he finished that cup of cocoa but he wasn't on edge about it. He knew they were just worried about him and he was feeling comfortable in the embrace of those who crowded around him on the couch, in the dark room with only the light of the screen to see by.
But as more and more of his classmates attention drew away from him, Tokoyami was becoming more and more aware of another presence watching him from further away. He couldn't explain how he knew, but he could feel the eyes on him. Slowly he turned towards the dorm windows.
If they had been watching a horror movie he probably would have screamed at the sight of Hawks standing out there in the dark, hiding in the bushes, his face pressed up against the glass.
Tokoyami stared at him.
Hawks grinned and gave him a thumbs up.
Had he been there the whole time?!?!
As much as he deeply desired to go out there and kick Hawk's ass, he knew by the time he got outside he would have flown away.
All he could do was slowly, without catching any of his classmates attention, lift his arm up and flip the bird at Hawks.
Hawks grinned wider and gave him two thumbs up and then flew off into the night.
