When Apple invited Tissues to draw with her, he was honestly confused.
"Wouldn't you want to hang out with someone else?" He had asked.
"What do you mean? I guess we can hang up the art when we're done, I like doing that." She had replied.
Despite Tissues inherent hesitation, the idea of doing something low energy and peaceful seemed fun.
Apple brought out some crayons and paper she had stashed in a drawer. Tissues tried to make himself comfortable on the floor,
though he would've much preferred a table or something.
"Do you know how to draw?" Apple asked.
"Uh, yeah, but I'm really good at it," He admitted. He had only ever doodled in the margins of notebooks and such. They usually ended up unintelligible.
"That's okay! I'm not that good either," She reassured.
Tissues glanced at some drawings stuck onto the walls. They were kind of childish, but that gave them a sort of charm.
He thought about what to draw before grabbing a pink crayon. He carefully drew out some unequal petals.
By the time he had drawn one flower (using yellow for the inside part and, reluctantly, green for the leaves), Apple had already moved onto a second piece of paper.
"Jeez, how do you do it so fast?" He asked, picking up a blue crayon.
"I just have alot of ideas!" Apple answered, "And I got better the more I did it."
"So, it's all practice?" He drew more petals, this time spikier.
She raised an eyebrow, "What's prak-tiss?"
"Oh, uh... It's just means doing something so you get better at it." He briefly explained.
Apple nodded in understanding, going back to drawing what Tissues assumed was a square fountain?
He also continued his drawing, picking up a green crayon to draw a stalk. He had to press quite hard to get the colour to show.
Just as he was scribbling some grass, the crayon snapped. He glanced at Apple with a worried, and slightly surprised, expression.
"Oh don't worry, that happens a lot. Just put the end piece in the bag." She calmly directed.
Tissues followed what she said, discarding the non-pointed part of the crayon. The crayon was now considerably shorter and harder to hold.
"Um, mabye don't press too hard? If you go over it enough, you'll get a similar thing." Apple suggested.
Tissues nodded, retrying his attempt at grass.
When he was finally done (around five minutes later), he was pretty proud of his drawing. It wasn't the best, but it was way better than he was expecting.
"Can I see it?" Apple asked.
Tissues held up the drawing for her.
"Woah, that looks cool!" Apple said, smiling.
She held up hers, "I drew you!"
Tissues now realised it was clearly
him, even if it might've been the wrong shade of blue.
He also appreciated the lack of any green.
"It looks really good-" But he was cut off with a sneeze.
Much to his horror, the drawing was now covered in snot.
"Ah! I'm so sorry!" He apologised.
"Oh, it's fine," Apple nonchalantly wiped it off, "Now it's more realistic!"
There was a green stain in the paper, which did make the blue a
more accurate colour.
"Oh, you're welcome then," He shrugged.
Apple collected up the paper and crayons, placing them back into the drawer they originated. She also put her drawings in a binder, which was already overflowing with artworks.
Tissues neatly folded his drawing and placed it in his pocket.
"That was fun, Apple," Tissues smiled.
"Yeah, bye Tissue!" She waved.
"It's actually 'Tissues'," He corrected.
"Really? But there's only one of you," She said with a confused look.
Tissues shrugged and made his way back to his room. Once he made it there, he unfolded the drawing and stuck it above his bed with some tape.
Trophy would probably tell him it sucked, but that didn't matter because he was still proud of it.
