Chapter Text
With midterms fast approaching, nerves were high and time was never enough. Oscar crammed and revised every evening and still felt like nothing stuck. His friend, Logan argued it was because he was overloading himself. His brain was fried from too much studying and not enough rest, or whatever.
And that would've been fine. Oscar could've convinced himself to order in and put on Sky Sports or one of his favourite movies. Indulge himself for once and really take the time to rest. But Logan confidently stated that's not the kind of rest Oscar needed. He needed to 'party it out'.
That's why Oscar was here, on a Saturday night, showing his ID and getting a wristband from a stern club bouncer, Logan and his roommate, Alex behind him. Pushing him.
He wasn't a party person. He disliked the crowd, the sticky floors, the way people's elbows always found his ribs, the awful music blasting so loudly the bass vibrated in his chest. But there was clearly no arguing here with the two guys forcing him inside, where multicoloured neon lights were flashing across the dancing-grinding mass of drunk uni students.
Some awful techno remix of an old Pitbull song played through the speakers, the whole place stank. And while Logan and Alex tried pulling him towards the dancefloor, Oscar knew he won't survive the night without alcohol, so he pulled away and beelined towards the bar. He asked for a G&T, they gave him something sad-looking but strong, way too strong to be his first drink of the night. So he picked a wall to stand by as he quietly nursed on his cocktail, head bobbing and shoulders moving ever so slightly to the rhythm.
He scanned the crowd, found some familiar faces, but most he hadn't seen before. This wasn't his scene, he very rarely went to parties, and consequently, rarely saw party people.
He found this girl who asked him out last semester, dancing with another guy. Logan and Alex already chatting up two girls who looked way out of their league. The DJ on his little stage was having way too much fun with some guy by his side. They were dancing together, pumping the air and rocking their hips as they mouthed along to the distorted lyrics.
Oscar recognised him. Not the DJ, he'd never seen that fratboy-looking muppet before. He recognised the guy entertaining him with his all too suggestive dance moves.
The curly hair and the gold chain peeking out from below his unbuttoned shirt collar, his grin so sharp and charming it could make anyone in a three-foot radius faint.
Lando Norris.
They shared an elective class, or at least they did in theory, Lando rarely ever showed up. What Oscar knew about him came from rumours around the campus, like the fact that Lando fucked his way through half the dorms. He wanted to think it was exaggeration, but looking at Lando now, in his element, Oscar could totally see why so many people would fall for him.
The neon lights looked good shining on his tight curls and sweaty skin, catching and glinting on his chain. He painted an obscene picture that Oscar couldn't look away from.
He flirted with everyone. Blatantly. He was all over the DJ one second, then he hopped off the stage and danced his way into the crowd, rubbing up against everyone around him like he had every right to do so. And he did. Some girl pulled him into a kiss, he wasn't even phased by it, just kissed back, wet and messy, before leaning back against the guy pressing into his back, threw his head back on the man's shoulder like he barely held himself up. Grin wide, eyes closed, cheeks red and lips shiny with spit.
He moved through the dancing crowd like liquid and Oscar followed with his eyes. Every filthy movement, every bat of his thick lashes, every smile thrown around like currency.
Then their eyes locked, and Oscar held it, expression neutral and steady. His head tipping from one side to the other as he observed. Lando moved, feet carrying him towards Oscar quicker now, all while gnawing at his bottom lip like he was trying to flirt.
When Lando was within reach, he grabbed Oscar's hand, soft fingers wrapping around him as he pulled, away from the wall and towards the dancing people. Oscar shook his head vehemently, mouthing 'no, no, no,' over again, but Lando smirked like he didn't even care and kept tugging him. And while Oscar managed to resist the other two guys before, he found himself giving in way too easily to Lando.
He downed the rest of his drink before Lando took the glass and put it down somewhere. Oscar didn't care enough to look away from his face. They were then engulfed by the crowd, the dancing mass closing in around them and pushing Oscar closer to Lando.
Two hands landed on Oscar's sides as Lando tried to get him to move to the beat, but Oscar just grimaced. He was a really shit dancer, this was not for him, he should've stayed--
"Look at me," Lando shouted over the pumping music. The first thing he ever said to Oscar. So in character it was painful, ever the attention-needy thing. He held Oscar's waist and tried moving him with his own. Moved even closer, until their hips were flush together, and tried directing him that way. "Look at me, feel me. Relax."
The hands on his sides moved up to his neck, thumbs resting on either side of his jaw, and Oscar melted. Relaxing, just like he was instructed, and he moved in time with Lando.
He was even prettier up close, if the rumours were really all true, Oscar could not blame any of them for falling for such debauched beauty. Why they all probably bent over backwards just trying to get in his roster.
"You don't talk?" Lando prompted, still staring deep into his eyes.
"What should I say?"
"Like, what's your name?"
"Oscar."
Lando threw his head back, pulling Oscar closer, like an invitation to lick the sweat off the column of his throat. Oscar didn't, but he let his arms wrap around Lando's waist tightly. "I haven't seen you before. Freshman?"
"We literally have class together, Lando" Oscar deadpanned.
"Do we? Fuck, I don't know why I don't remember you then." Lando's fingers carded through Oscar's hair, pushing back the strands that fell into his face. "You're hot. And you know my name." He grinned like he won something.
"Everybody on campus knows your name."
The song changed to something else, something equally loud and bassy, but deeper, with more suggestive lyrics that thrummed in Oscar's veins. Lando shook his hips like it was a practiced move and Oscar's chest rose and fell quicker watching him. He was sin embodied.
"Can I suck you off?"
The question came out of the blue, a breathy plea more than anything, dripping from wet, parted lips like honey.
Oscar wasn't sure how to respond, he stared down at the man in disbelief. Was Lando being serious? They met two minutes ago, Lando had no idea who he was, and still, he was propositioning Oscar? Just like that?
"I'm not, uh--"
"Not into guys?" Lando jumped to finish his sentence, his arms crossing behind Oscar's neck and pulling him down towards him, almost speaking against his skin now. "That's okay, I don't mind. You can just close your eyes and pretend I'm a girl. I shaved so it won't even feel any different."
"No, that's not the problem."
"Reckon there isn't a problem."
He tilted his head, until their noses were touching, and Oscar felt his hot breath on his lips. For a second, everything stopped. No music, no crowd, nothing but Lando.
He hardly managed to snap out of it.
Lips pulling up into a smile, he told him, "I don't do random hookups in a club bathroom."
"Then what do you do?"
"Nothing you would be interested in." He pulled away, gently untangling Lando's arms from behind his neck. Their eyes still locked together as Oscar handed him down to the nearest person, who took him into an embrace. Lando buried his face in their neck, didn't watch Oscar turn and walk straight back to the bar.
Another G&T. Another half an hour standing by the wall and watching. He forced his eyes to stay away from Lando as he dragged another person towards the toilets without sparing a glance in Oscar's direction.
Parties really weren't his thing...
___
Mondays were always filled with an internal debate. To go to his elective lecture or not to go, that was the question every week.
On one hand, he knew his flat was still messed up after his late night study session that turned into him falling asleep on the sofa--huge mistake, by the way. Not only did this mean he had an awful crank in his neck, but that his books were still scattered across the floor, the sofa and the coffee table. Not to mention the sink full of dishes.
On the other hand, if he missed this class, Logan wasn't there to hand him his notes the next day, update him on assignments or other important things. This was all him, and if he missed, he missed. It was only an added incentive that if he showed up, he might see Lando as well... Not that he really cared about him, of course, he was just curious if Lando would finally notice him. Realise he's the guy he offered a blowjob to last weekend.
...So Oscar went to his lecture.
He regretted it five minutes after the lecturer started talking, in that monotone, boring tone of voice that Oscar could barely follow along. His eyes scanned through the seats, glancing to the back rows as well, but found no sight of Lando.
Truly not worth it, then.
Going back to taking notes, he made an effort to follow the lecturer's thought process and forgot all about who he hoped to see today. Really, he did.
Until he walked in.
Ten minutes late, because why wouldn't he be, threw a half-assed apology to the lecturer for disrupting class, then flopped down in the free seat next to Oscar.
Oscar looked at him up and down, then back to his notes like he wasn't deeply satisfied to see the worn-out, exhausted and sleep deprived state of Lando. God, it was 1 pm, did he really just roll out of bed?
Lando settled in next to him, took out a notepad from his backpack, then placed down a can of Monster right next to it. Laid back in his seat, legs sprawled out like he owned the place. And Oscar decidedly did not look. He was too busy taking notes. He just noticed things out of the corner of his eye, nothing more.
"Hey, aren't you that guy I met at the club this Saturday?" Lando whispered, leaning closer to him until Oscar caught a whiff of... oh God, how many colognes was he wearing?
"Yeah, we met," Oscar replied nonchalantly.
"Wow, you really did tell the truth when you said we have a class together."
"Why would I lie about such a thing?"
Lando shrugged. "You look different like this."
Oscar glanced at him briefly. Took in his stretched out graphic T-shirt, the simple jeans, his curls, messier now. "So do you."
Lando scooted closer, until their shoulders brushed. "I like you like this. This jumper looks hot on you." He traced lines up and down Oscar's forearm as he wrote, and the pen froze in his hand, leaving a blotch of ink on paper. Lando chuckled. "Do I make you nervous?"
"I'm just... Not used to people being this forward." Oscar swallowed. "At the club, too, you were... That was strange, you know. What you said then."
"Was it?" Lando feigned innocence. "I meant it." And there that picture went. "The offer still stands, if you wanna take me up on it."
Oscar couldn't help but scoff, turning his head to look at Lando again. Really look at him. Pinning him with a hardened gaze as Lando just smiled seductively. "Do you whore yourself out to everyone like this?"
That got him an eyebrow raise. "Ouch."
"Oh come on, you're offering to suck me off in the middle of class, don't pretend like you aren't one."
"I thought you would be all gentlemanly and shit, look like a damn prince yet you talk like that." His fingers that were still on Oscar's forearm ran up and squeezed his bicep. Oscar tensed it instinctively. "I wonder what else comes out of that foul mouth."
"You haven't answered my question."
Lando tilted his head. "I guess I do. I like sex, what's wrong with that? I play it safe and I play it easy. Enjoying my youth while I still can."
Oscar hummed. "Well, unfortunately for you, I'm not looking for a one-night stand. Besides, you couldn't handle me anyway."
He turned back to the lecturer's slides with a finality and attempted to follow along. Meanwhile, Lando was still talking his ear off, whispering softly and tugging at his arm to catch his attention again.
"What do you mean by that? Oh come on, don't be like this. Talk to me. You don't want a hookup, then what do you want? You're killing me over here, darling, speak, for fuck's sake. Do you want a boyfriend? I don't really do commitment but I promise I can be as good as one otherwise."
"I don't want a boyfriend," Oscar huffed under his breath.
Lando almost draped himself across Oscar's lap at that. "What do you want, then? You want in my roster? I can arrange that."
The sardonic laugh came involuntarily at that. "Christ, do you not have any shame?"
"Got it fucked out of me a while ago, but you can teach me a lesson if you want."
The lecturer cleared his throat loudly. "Those two young men near the back, I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" Oscar snapped up and pushed Lando off himself. The man in front gave him a chiding look. "If you're not gonna pay attention then don't come here."
"Sorry, sir. Won't happen again."
"Good. So, as I was saying--"
Oscar picked up his pen again and tried picking up the lecture as well, but couldn't shake the burning feeling of Lando staring at him while sipping his Monster next to him.
"If you really want this," Oscar whispered, barely audible, but Lando leaned in to listen. "We're doing it my way."
Lando picked his pen from his hand and scribbled his phone number in the corner of Oscar's notebook.
