Chapter 1: authors note

Okay, a quick PSA before we start:

• This is a reader-insert (ik ik), but I've tried to keep mentions of y/n as minimal as possible, so hopefully the story feels a little less awkward.
• The first few chapters may feel a little clunky as I try to info-dump in as few words as possible, but please bear with, I promise it does get better!
• As you might have noticed, each chapter is named after a hozier song, and features a lyric that I think encapsulates our heroine's journey in that particular chapter. I'm, planning on making a playlist for this fic, featuring all the songs mentioned once I figure out how many chapters this is going to have, so stay tuned for that!!
• I'll try to keep updates semi-regular (and promise I won't abandon it mid way through). I'm planning on it being the first of a three part series, with a fic dedicated to each movie, but we'll see how it goes.
• Finally, thank you so much for reading! I know the lotr fandom is in a bit of a slump at the moment, and so this fic will most likely flop, but I hope at least one fan out there enjoys it <333
