Chapter Text
Dazai laid on his bed, his metal ceiling fading into the abyss when loud banging attacked his ears, snatching his mind back into his body. He mentally groaned rolling over to bury his face into his pillow
“OPEN UP BASTARD!” Chuuya yelled, before kicking open the door.
“ Hey! I've been calling you for the past hour. We were supposed to be in Mori's office over thirty minutes ago!”
Chuuya walks over to the bed, hovering over him. Dazai peeks up at Chuuya hovering over and buries his face deeper into the already formed crevice of his pillow, groaning dramatically.
“Oh stop being so dramatic, get the hell up.” Chuuya grunted, pulling dazai up
“Wahh!! Chuuya is being a brute!” Dazai whined as Chuuya dragged Dazai out, tossing him into the back of his car. The car ride to the headquarters was mostly quiet, other than the occasional whines and the annoying “are we there yet” questions.
After what felt like hours, they were finally approaching Mori's office. The pair walk through the u̶n̶n̶e̶c̶e̶s̶s̶a̶r̶i̶l̶y̶ large doors, feeling like ants compared to the massive ceilings. The room was dim, the only light coming from the swaying chandelier and the few candles he has around his office. Chuuya took his hat off bowing his head in respect while Dazai strolled in without a care in the world.
“What is it now…” Dazai sighs, slumping into the furthest chair away from Mori's desk. Beside the chair was Elise, on the floor drawing a gruesome image with a red crayon. Dazai glances over, poking her on her head to annoy Mori. He watches as she slowly fades away before picking up the crayon to fiddle with it.
Mori's eye twitched before a grin crept onto his face as Mori greeted them “Ah, patience Dazai. Good evening boys, you're an hour late..again..”
Chuuya sighed, settling to stand beside Dazai. “Sorry boss.” He shot a glare at Dazai.
“Alright, now that you're both here..I have a very important mission for the two of you.” The sly man's grin dropped into a serious expression.
“I got a tip from an old friend of mine that the heroes from Musutafu have a plan to break down the borders of Yokohama to try and ‘save’ the citizens..”
Chuuya scoffed “geez… those heros can't seem to get a hint..”
Dazai looked over at Mori. “You don't just want us to take them down, do you…what are you planning Mori?“
“As sharp as ever Dazai.” Mori interlocks his fingers humming something
“I want you to take this opportunity to infiltrate UA. I don't care how you're planning to do so all I'm looking for is success.”
“Huh?” Dazai jumped out of his chair before him and Chuuya erupted into insults.
“No way are we going to do that?!"
“Have you finally lost your mind?"
“That's just dirty!”
“You piece of shit!”
“That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard! I oughta-“
“Now, now boys..calm down..I have a great reason for this..” Mori huffed in exhaustion.
“You see..I need you to get information on what the hero commission is planning to do here in Yokohama. And..” he trails off
“There has been this new organization arising, they have been giving me some unsolicited issues lately. I need you to kill their boss." Mori retorted.
"They had attacked one of the classes at UA not long ago and I want you to join that class." he huffed, finally getting all his words out without any of them interrupting.
Dazai narrowed his eyes in suspicion. “What are you not telling us, Mori?"
Mori smiled, “I don't know what you're talking about.” Oh how badly Dazai wanted to rip that smile off his face.
Before either one could protest even further Mori pushed a folder towards them. “This file contains everything you need to know for the mission. You have 5 days before the heroes break in. You are dismissed.”
Chuuya walked over to the desk to retrieve the folder while dazai was already walking out. Memories of his past flooding into his head. He shook his head. No. Shuji's past. Shuji Aizawa was not dazai. Shuji Aizawa was weak. Shuji Aizawa was fearful and cowering. Shuji Aizawa was human.
“Zai-!”
“Daz-!”
“Hey, Snap out of it!”
Dazai turns his head looking over at chuuya humming.
“Hey, what the hell is wrong with you today.” Chuuya asked, trying hard not to look like he was worried.
“Aw. Is my chibi worried about me?” Dazai teases, jabbing his finger into Chuuya's cheek.
Chuuya grabbed his finger “You bastard, Of course I'm not worried about you! And don't call me that, stupid mackerel!” he growled
The two continued their banter in the car all the way back to Chuuya's apartment. The moment dazai stepped into Chuuya's apartment he immediately tossed himself onto the couch.
Unlike Dazai, Chuuya actually had a pretty decently big apartment. The only thing that Chuuya needed working on was his horrible taste in furniture. Even if Koyou had taught Chuuya everything she knew about proper behavior and style, she could not eradicate a street kids desire to splash onto needlessly expensive things.
Chuuya sat down on the chair next to the couch looking through the contents in the file. It had information on many heroes such as their quirk, weaknesses, a detailed explanation on how their quirk works and if there's anything about them to be cautious about. Chuuya scans through them but a specific one catches his eye. His name was Shota Aizawa. Hero name eraser head. He scoffed, who names themselves ‘eraserhead’? He looked up at dazai and back at the file. The two looked almost identical. He snickered,
“Hey Mackerel, this homeless man kinda looks like you.” He turned it to show Dazai. Dazai looked over and froze, staring at the picture.
“Give me that.” He snatched it from Chuuya's hands, a sound of protest coming from the smaller boy. Dazai read through his information. He was a teacher at the school they will be going undercover at. This has to be a joke right? He unconsciously gripped the file tighter, his teeth clenching. He reads the name over and over again. Shota Aizawa, Shota Aizawa, Shota. Aizawa.

Dazai osamu never wanted to be this way.
He remembers being held in his father's arms. He remembers being happy and playing around with his father. But nothing lasts forever. Ever since he was deemed quirkless people at school would constantly make fun of him. Shota wasn't even aware of this. After Shuji reached a certain age Shota was constantly busy with hero work and didn't spend as much time with his son.
It was after school. Shuji was walking his usual route home when he bumps into a man carrying some shopping bags with a little girl around Shuji's age with blonde hair. Shuji fell back onto the floor groaning. “Sorry sir…”
“Ah no worries boy are you okay?” He reached his hand out to help him up. The moment Shuji's hand made contact with the man he gasped, a shiver running up his spine. It was as if his soul was being dragged out of his body. Coldness consumed his body and the little girl by his side slowly fades into thin air. The man looked at the child grinning widely.
“Child.. what's your name?” he asked, his face going back into a bittersweet smile. His grip on the boy's hand tightened.
“..I'm Shuji Aizawa..Where did that girl go?” he asked, looking around worriedly. .
“No need to worry about her, dear. My name is Mori Ougai. Come, how about I treat you to some sweets for bumping into you?” Shuji hesitated but nodded. It wasn't like anyone was going to come look for him right?
As the two walked Mori had learned some things from the boy like him being quirkless and how the kids at school treated him. Mori went on to teach him what an ability was and how special he was for having it.
“You are an amazing boy Shuji.. you'd do so much better under me..What do you say Shuji? Come with me and I'll teach you how to be better. It's not like anyone will be looking for you right?” He asked, his tone sweet.
Shuji looked down thinking for a second. Maybe if he went with him he could be stronger and show dad how great he is. “Okay. I'll go with you.”
