Lando has a truly beautiful singing voice. Oscar picks up on it early on, just as they’re getting to know each other as teammates. He notices it during that silly “Continue the lyrics” video they have to film. He notices it when Lando is lost in thought, humming some random pop tune. Lando usually picks catchy songs, so when Oscar sings to himself in the car (which he only does to help him focus, thank you very much), he finds himself singing Taylor Swift lyrics or some pointless party anthem, which isn’t usually his go-to music. Often, he hears the song in Lando’s voice, and it soothes him a bit more. So, when he’s around Lando in their free time in the motorhome and starts humming a random song, only to hear Lando join in, you can’t really blame him.
Lando seems to notice that Oscar enjoys his singing a bit too much, which he finds charming. He starts singing a bit more than usual just to catch that warm smile from his teammate. He even finds a small synth somewhere between Monaco and Spain and gets Charles to play it while he sings along.
It happens on their day off when they decide to relax in Lando’s hotel room and play some video games. When Oscar calls time out after losing yet another round of Mario Kart (it’s not his fault, competing with a professional streamer is impossible), Lando laughs and streams some music from his phone. Oscar doesn’t mind looking a bit starstruck as he watches Lando go full karaoke mode with a goofy grin. When “YOUTH” by Troye Sivan starts playing, Oscar can’t help but join in — it’s his fellow Aussie, after all. And for some reason, “My youth is yours,” which Lando sings perfectly and Oscar is completely out of tune, sounds like a promise.
