Chapter 1: Napoleon Bonaparte

Chapter Text

Words of Affirmation

As the former Emperor of France, Napoleon is always conscious of the weight of his words. He carefully considers the promises that he makes and strives to fulfill his oaths, especially his oath to protect and love you. When it comes to giving you compliments, though, it seems like the floodgates just open, and the words flow freely from his mouth, leaving you all red and flustered. “Mornings aren’t so bad anymore since I wake up to your beautiful face,” Napoleon tells you when dig him out of his blankets and rouse him from his hibernation in the mornings. Also, since becoming a full vampire, Napoleon doesn’t need to eat food anymore, but he still enjoys your cooking, and he makes sure to let you know. “Your karaage is delicious. And the tofu’s flavor is subtle, but I think I find it addicting.” And every so often, he renews and reaffirms his oath to you. “My body, heart, and soul are yours. I live to protect and love you.” Your eyes become teary every time that he repeats his oath. Napoleon’s words leave no room for you to ever doubt his love and devotion.

Acts of Service

In his past life as a soldier, Napoleon tirelessly served France and the French people. Ever since becoming your lover in his new life as a vampire, Napoleon now serves you. He helps you with your chores around the mansion, from cooking meals, to hanging the laundry, to sweeping leaves in the garden. He also accompanies you when you go shopping in town. He patiently waits for you outside a shop, and when you emerge with bags and parcels, he immediately takes them and carries them instead for you. Most of all, Napoleon protects you as your guardian. A role that he first took up when you first found yourself in the mansion, and a role that he continues and cherishes to this day. Paris in the 19th century can sometimes be dangerous, especially to women. But with Napoleon right beside you, ready to defend you in any given moment, you always feel safe and well-protected as you walk around town together.

Gift-Giving

Napoleon likes giving you gifts. Of course, there are the usual dresses, chocolates and sweets, and jewelries that he gives you for special occasions and anniversaries. But there are also the small gifts that he sometimes gives to you “just because.” When he sees a cute stuffed toy that you might like, he buys it for you. Then, after he finishes teaching the Parisian children for the day, he buys his favorite crepes and shares them with you when he gets home. Sometimes, you unexpectedly find a bouquet of flowers on your bed, and you immediately know that it’s from Napoleon.

Quality Time

When Napoleon isn’t working or teaching children, he’s often spending time with you. He doesn’t really care whether it’s doing chores with you or enjoying leisurely activities together—all that matters to him is that he gets to be with you. You and Napoleon even have quality time just by simply napping together. In the past, sleeping uninterrupted for many hours was impossible for Emperor Napoleon—he always had to be alert for problems, betrayals, and even attempted assassinations. But those days of danger and sleeplessness are finally behind him, and he now enjoys the simple happiness of having lazy mornings with you and just snoozing together in bed.

Physical Touch

Napoleon is never shy about physically demonstrating his affection for you. Sometimes, when you’re busy doing your chores, he sneaks up behind you and gives you an unexpected (but very welcome) back hug. You receive kisses from Napoleon throughout the day, even though this sometimes earns you two teasing and wolf-whistles when some of the other mansion residents are around to witness this. And whenever you and Napoleon walk around town together, whether it's for errands or dates, he always makes sure to hold your hand. This simple yet meaningful gesture makes you smile to yourself as you feel the warmth from Napoleon’s body flow through your linked hands and into your own body.
