Worlds Collide at Midnight

Summary:

During the epic battle at the friendship games, the CHS girls’ world and Equestria weren’t the only realms threatening to merge…

Meanwhile in Jasper, Nevada… Ratchet picks up intense energy levels right outside the base. He discovers that the abnormal signals are in fact inter dimensional rifts. Not only does team prime have to stop a war but solve astronomical issues as well? These guys can't catch a break, can they?

Months have passed since the friendship games and the rifts have been “supposedly sealed". Twilight has been struggling with overcoming her own internal turmoil, harnessing her powers, trying to restrain recurring nightmares, breaking up with timber, and to top it all off... entrance exams. This girl can’t catch a break, can she? The girls notice twilight’s distress and try to cheer her up by throwing a sleepover, which ultimately fails! They wake up and find themselves in an unfamiliar, empty desert.

Will they be able to adapt to their new surroundings, new allies, and save the multiverse? Or will they be stuck between two alien-robot factions fighting, for the rest of their high school days?...

Will twilight be able to do the entrance exam!?

Notes:

Once this idea popped in my head, I just HAD to write it down, so here we are. :)

Work Text:

Twilight is currently sitting on top her bed, brooding in her journal. She was furiously writing her thoughts down, at least she wasn’t taking her anger out through magic. Eve r since coming back from Camp Everfree , controlling her magic has been , well, bumpy, to say the least. She can do simple tricks, but her emotions get the best of her. To her surprise, this whole time she has kept it under control. She kept on writing her diary entry until spike coughed deliberately. Her wide eyes looked up at him and just stared, waiting for an explanation on why he interrupted her writing. His paw smacked his forehead.

“Oh.” She blushed as she looked at the ceiling. The pink hue was levitating random miscellaneous items, such as her phone, mail, pens, and a polaroid of Sunset Shimmer. Okay, so, perhaps not so random. She sat the objects down on her desk. God, these emotions really do get the best of her. She began to scribble that in her journal as well. She sighed and bit the end of the pen. Spike, being the loyal companion he is, spoke up.

“I can tell; it’s all getting to you.” She looked up at the pup with tired eyes, hearing him out. “Ya know.” He began as he jumped on top the bed, plopping in front her lap. “You could call them, or talk to me about it?” She looked at him then at her notebook. Perhaps it would be more beneficial than brooding all day, she thought. She levitated the notebook to her desk

“I don’t know where to start, spike.” She scrunched her bang up. Spike nudged her hand.

“Take your time, twilight.” She laughed tiredly.

“That's just it, it’s all going by too fast.” She clicked the pen. “Just a few months ago, I made that infernal gadget, I transferred for these awesome friends I don't deserve, and then camp happened , hence these powers I can barely control.” Spike tried to console his frantic friend.

That’s not true, you ’re doing great! And you deser -.” This time, she interjected and clicked away.

“And then timber, oh my gosh, don’t get me started on him! He’s a great guy and a good friend, but that’s just it!” Spike facepalmed and settled on listening without interrupting, even if he did interrupt, he would not be heard. “I don’t have a clue on how to break up with him! Why can’t relationships be like equations? Easy and solvable? Which brings me to my next point!” Spike sighed mentally, at this point she’s just rambling but at least it’s not bottled up, right? Twilight practically leapt off the bed, making spike float for a millisecond. She skids across the room to her whiteboard, grabbing an orange expo. She writes an equation of some sort and draws a diagram with sunsets shimmer’s face on it. Now, spike inquired.

“What about Sunset? You guys are great friends!” He exclaims happily. Twilight turns, huffs with a slight blush on her face. “It’s not a friendship problem, well yes, sorta, not? Ugh! She’s the variable that doesn’t make sense!” She turns back, drawing timber and putting him in a red box. Next to the box, she writes ‘How to friendzone’ along with another equation. Spike was confused, he knew he wasn’t the smartest, so he tried to line up the pieces. Hm, he wondered. Friendzone timber, sunset’s the problem, twilight blushing at the mention of sunset... wait a minute. Could it be? Twilight continued babbling. “Then the nightmares, though it’s not that bad anymore, well somewhat. Then Rarity wants to go on a silly double date, oh gosh. Oh! And the entrance exam... HOLY ALBERT EINSTEIN, THE ENTRANCE EXAM!” She threw the expo and then replaced it with the pen, clicking away rapidly.

“So, you like sunset?” The clicking ceased. Twilight blushed bright pink. She stammered a bit.

" I uh-.” A sudden explosion emitted outside the window. Phew, saved by the confetti explosion, she thought. Wait, why is pinkie outside? She crossed to the window and spike’s gaze followed her.

“Twilight, you know you can tell her anything, right?” She smiled solemnly as she put her hand on the window.

“I know Spike, but this, I cannot.” She propped open the window, sticking her head out. Below, Pinkie was getting ready to throw more confetti up . She grinned when she saw her dear friend.

“H i ya Twilight!” She sang as she threw the confetti behind her, which immediately exploded. She involuntarily waved her arms in the air like a crazy person, oh wait she is a crazy person…

“What brings you here, Pinkie?” The curly haired girl grinned enormously and began with over expressive gestures.

“Well, Twinkle twilight, you have been studying so h ard like the genius you ar e.” Twilight blushed, she wasn’t exactly studying the whole day , but sure, they could go with that. As for spike, he held back the urge to say: please get her out this funk. “Which is great and all, being cooped inside your tiny geeky room, but why be cooped up there, when you could be cooped up with your best pals at the best sleepover ev er!” Twilight looked her friends ’ expectant eyes, gleaming with stars. She looked back at her white board then to spike. Spike smiled and lowered his voice that only his owner could hear.

“Go.” She bit her lip thoughtfully. “ Just let loose, twilight.” She smiled at him; she was thankful for how understanding and patient spike could be. She has no idea how he has dealt with her all these years. She smiled and ruffled spike’s head.

“Thanks, spike.” She swung her head back out the window, pinkie was checking her imaginary watch while tapping her foot. “Be down in a sec ond.” Pinkie pantomim ed throwing her “watch” in a victorious fashion.

“Oh yeah ! UH HUH!” She did a little jig. Twilight busted out laughing, her friends’ randomness was so lovable. Her mind wandered back to when she cut spike off.

And you deser -.” Deserve them, did she really? Most days she felt pondered on why they ever took her in. Why they gave her the chance, why they looked past the monster she was or still is. She put them through so much trouble yet they still loved her. All of it seemed too good to be true. She grabbed the last of her clothes and folded them neatly into her duffel bag. Spike was sitting at his food trey.

“You’re going to be okay, right?” Twilight threw the strap onto her shoulder and pulled out her phone. She looked at the wallpaper, a selfie of all of them at the beach. From the reflection of the screen, she saw herself, and the faint hue of her worst enemy.
