This is getting really, really irritating.

"I want the Busan house, the one with the aquarium," Yoojin says with a sneer, trying his best to replicate the sour mother-in-law from the dramas he used to watch until late with Myeongwoo during college. There's no way Sung Hyunjae is going to agree. He personally oversaw the house project from the paper to construction. They even spent the last week of their honeymoon leave there. And while Yoojin is fond of the house, he doesn't want to take one of the few material properties Hyunjae gives a fuck about, he just wants to wipe the annoying smirk off Hyunjae's face, and by the glint in his eyes, he might’ve actually—

"Sure," Hyunjae agrees after a short pause. What Yoojin confused for a glimpse of consciousness was just malice after all. Motherfucker. "So, you want the Busan beach house, the Gangnam penthouse, half of Seseong's share, and a lifetime pension?"

Yoojin feels heat spread across his nape. He glances at the lawyer, looking between them, perplexed, then snaps back to Hyunjae with his meanest glare. This is all his fault, insisting that they should have a settlement before the family's lawyer instead of solving it between themselves. The worst is how clear it is that he’s not taking any of this seriously.

"You forgot about Gyeol," Yoojin adds, just to be spiteful. "I'll even be nice and share the bills despite the gap between our financial status."

"Of course," Hyunjae nods, the hateful smirk never leaving his eyes, or lips, for that matter. "It's only right I take care of both of you."

The moment they leave this place, Yoojin is going straight to a shaman. There must be one powerful enough that will be able to curse Sung Hyunjae.

Mrs. Hwang carefully pipes in, speaking in Hyunjae's direction. "What are your claims?"

"I have none," he replies, leaning back in his chair, relaxed. Yoojin wants to claw his face off. If only he were ugly, it'd make it a hundred times easier to deal with him.

"Then we are done with this?" Yoojin asks, already getting up. He doubts the face he's making right now is anything pretty. Mrs. Hwang tries to tell him he has some papers to sign, but he only grabs them and storms out of the office.

He's been walking fast on purpose, but Hyunjae still catches up to him near the elevator, eyes curved in half-moons.

He stands two steps behind Yoojin, supposedly out of view, but close enough that his cologne cloys Yoojin's senses entirely.

The elevator pings. They get in, and even before the doors are closed, Hyunjae's hands are on Yoojin's waist.

"Having fun?" he asks through gritted teeth.

"Plenty," Hyunjae replies, leaning to nose at his neck. "Have I ever told you how delectable you look when you're mad? I almost bit you again."

Before he can be manhandled to turn around, Yoojin turns on his heels, pushing Hyunjae away from him, if only so he can breathe again. "What are you, if you're going around biting anyone who looks remotely interesting. An ill-bred mutt?"

"I'm an expensive breed," Hyunjae says with an excited smile, stepping back. "And I only bite my owner."

"Then he didn't train you all that well."

"Oh, but he did," Yoojin scowls at the way Hyunjae's mocking tone drops a level. Cocky bastard.

Another ping. They've reached the garage, the doors open after a click, letting in fresh air into the confined space. Yoojin ignores Hyunjae and steps out first. He realizes how many pheromones Hyunjae was releasing as soon as they’re outside.

Hyunjae doesn't follow him to his car. Instead, he slides out of his parking spot—two empty spaces after Yoojin's—and very slowly drives out of the garage. Yoojin presses down the horn all the way out.

...

"Ask for a Benz, Hyung-nim!" Hyuna excitedly suggests after hearing the exchange. "If he's feeling that generous, you gotta take him for what he's worth."

"I already have two cars," and a third one that he kept in Yoohyun's garage. All three were impromptu Hyunjae's gifts.

"That'd be for me, actually." Hyuna winks.

Yoojin side-glances at her. Out of all the people Yoojin knows, he’s pretty sure Hyuna is the last person who needs anyone to buy her a sports car. But, well, it's not like it's his money anyway. He shrugs.

"Sure."

Hyuna watches him for a moment. Yoojin starts shuffling through a couple of pamphlets to avoid eye contact. One of them is a hagwon proudly announcing that they take children from as early as ten. He shakes his head. A ten-year-old might as well be a baby, and they want them to already start "preparing for the future"? The world really lost its way.

Hyuna clears her throat. "Are you guys really doing this?"

"The papers are signed."

"I heard Hyunjae is leaving for Switzerland next week."

Yoojin nods.

"Leaving you and Gyeol behind."

"Exactly."

"Hyung-nim, do you think I'm stupid?"

Yoojin halts the construction of his paper airplane with the pamphlet to give Hyuna a startled look.

"Myeongwoo asked me the same thing when I told him about it," he muses. "Why can't I peacefully divorce my husband? Well, ex-husband now."

"The likelihood of Hyunjae leaving this country without you tied to him with a bow is so minuscule statistically doesn’t exist," Hyuna cuts him off in a lazy tone. "Is this like, a sex thing? Distance makes the heart grow fonder, but in a kinky way?"

Yoojin stares at her, horrified. "What?"

"C'mon, Hyung-nim, we're all adults here," Hyuna rolls her eyes, indifferent to his reaction. She clicks her tongue, an annoyed look briefly crossing her face. “I bet Yoohyun is jumping for joy though, even if it's fake."

"It's not fake–" right at the moment, Yoojin's phone, which he left face up on the table, lights up with a call from yeobo. Hyuna's eyes land on it, then fix back on Yoojin's face with a deadpan look. It's like Hyunjae was born with the ability to calculate when the most appropriate time is to barrel in and ruin Yoojin's life.

"Not even when we were married, I called him that," he mutters to himself, confused, and it's nothing but the pure and unadulterated truth, but Hyuna just gives him a sarcastic smile and motions for him to accept the call. "I'm serious. Hyunjae must've–Fuck, what does he want?"

After the sixth ring, Yoojin swipes to accept the call. "What?"

"You know, our ancestors would cry if they knew that's how you treat your dear husband."

"If you don't have anything important to tell me, I'm hanging up."

"I want a date with Han Yoojin-nim."

"Any matters concerning the divorce or Gyeol should go through the lawyer.”

Don’t be like this,” Hyunjae’s suave voice sounds rather commanding. Hyuna, who’s dropped all pretense of not civility and is glued to the phone with him, lifts an eyebrow at Yoojin. “I might be so heartbroken I'll just wilt and die.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Yoojin interjects before Hyunjae can go on about how much of a good boy he’s been or whatever. Weirdo. “When?”

This evening,” Yoojin checks the clock on the café’s wall. It’s a quarter to five now. Not much time until the evening. “How about seven?”

“Eight,” he needs to go home to make dinner, feed Peace, and check Yerim’s report card. Gyeol is away on a school trip until the weekend, so at least he doesn’t need to worry about that.

Eight it is, then. I’ll pick you up,” Yoojin mumbles an acquiescence and is about to hang up, when Hyunjae speaks again. “I miss you a lot, Yoojin-ah.”

“I don’t miss you in the slightest,” Yoojin promptly replies. “See you later, Hyunjae-ssi.”

He hangs up. Hyuna is staring at him, her eyes wide as a saucer.

“Oh my god, it is a sex thing,” she shrieks out, attracting more attention to their table.

Wha–” Yoojin stutters. “How’s that your conclusion from our conversation?”

“Hyunjae sounds like this divorce is just the premise of your sextape,” Hyuna rolls her eyes at him. “And you have been blushing all this time. You could star as the heroine in a cliché drama.”

“That’s not it! We really did get divorced!”

“Right, sure. Whatever you say, Hyung-nim.”

After a long silence, Yoojin sighs and mumbles, "I did think Hyunjae would be having an affair, though."

Hyuna stares at him, dumbfounded, then falls over in energetic guffaws.

"Hyuna," he tries to stop her, embarrassed. "Stop this. Everyone is looking at us. Look at that. Someone already has their phone out."

"Hyung-nim, I don't know whether you're the funniest person in the world or just straight up crazy."

Well, that's upsetting. He's being serious here.

"I don't know! I hate to admit it, but that ahjussi—he's seriously handsome, you know."

Hyuna quirks an eyebrow at him, "For someone who hates to admit things, you talk a lot about Hyunjae's face."

"Well, that was mainly the reason I married him," he shrugs. "And it was nice. I got to enjoy tax benefits, and Gyeolie was born healthy and cute. But if I had to actually admit something, I'd say Hyunjae wasn't that bad. Like, at all. He took care of the chores. He didn’t control my spending. And he was nice. Moderately."

“Then the sex got boring.”

Yoojin glares at her. But there’s no amusement in Hyuna’s clear brown eyes. She’s genuinely curious. He looks around, finds everyone engrossed in their own affairs, then slides on his chair dejectedly.

“It didn’t get boring to me,” he grumbles. “But I think Hyunjae’s sick of it.”

Hyuna tilts her head to the side. “And why would you think that?”

“It makes sense, doesn’t it? He met me when I was twenty-five, fresh and fun. It’s been a decade. Not to mention that we got married so fast because of Gyeol. Maybe he didn’t like me all that much since the beginning.”

“He didn’t marry you because you got pregnant, though,” Hyuna cuts him off. “You got pregnant after you got engaged, hyung-nim. Why are you talking like you had a shotgun marriage?”

“Details,” Yoojin waves her off. “What I mean is, I’m getting kind of old now.”

“The age gap between the two of you is older than the time you’ve been married,” Hyuna reminds him.

Yoojin cringes. “Ugh, don’t say it like that. It sounds like he’s a creep.”

Hyuna sighs. “I think you are the one who’s started getting paranoid about Hyunjae leaving you because, for some reason, you’re just as obsessed with him, and this is your elaborate plan to spice up your relationship.”

“I wouldn’t mess up Gyeol’s life just to fuck Hyunjae.”

“Gyeol doesn’t give a fuck about Hyunjae. I never heard him call Hyunjae ‘dad’ even once.”

Yoojin frowns. Just because it’s true, it doesn’t mean she needs to say it.

“He’s shy.”

Hyuna’s patience is out. “Let’s bet on it, then.”

“On what?”

“The Benz. If you’re still divorced by the end of the month, I’ll buy you one myself. If not, I want a yacht.”

“Wait, why are our bets different?” he protests. “I already have a sports car. I want a yacht too.”

Hyuna makes a face at him. “Seesh, you’re too greedy. Ask your sugar daddy to buy you one.”

Hyuna-ssi!”

“Ok, ok,” she gives in. “Then let’s do this. If you and Hyunjae don’t do more than kiss, then I’ll get you whatever you want. No limit.”

Now they’re talking. Yoojin sits up, he’s been thinking of renovating the kitchen anyway. If it’s going to be on someone else’s dime, then he might actually do it before the end of the semester.

“No limit, you say.”

Hyuna chuckles. “Yup. It can’t be spent on a gift for someone else or anything like that, though. It has to be a gift for you. If you lose, then you’re going to have to buy me whatever I want, too.”

This is stupid. He can perfectly control himself near Hyunjae; they're not animals.

“Better prepare your wallet.”

Hyuna laughs, delighted.

“Let’s see about that.”

Yoojin accidentally bites Hyunjae's tongue as they stumble through Hyunjae's penthouse in UN village. It's probably a brand new acquisition because Yoojin doesn't remember a property in Hannam-dong while they were going through assets. Not to mention that the house was clearly tailored to fit his tastes, from the high ceiling to the big windows, generous with natural light. It all seems too carefully catered to him to look like a mere coincidence. Even the furniture, all expensive and bright wood.

Mm, how did they end up here, again? He remembers meeting up with Hyunjae, criticizing his cologne, eating at some fancy dinner, bragging about Gyeol, drinking some champagne, and when they were alone in the elevator—oh, he did pounce on Hyunjae, didn't he?

Hyunjae bites his neck, hard, demanding attention. The pain makes Yoojin pull him away by the hair almost instinctively.

"What are you doing?" It comes out raspy, and he nearly slips and stutters around the last vowel. Hyunjae chuckles, obediently letting Yoojin shake him around.

"Liking the house?" Hyunjae asks, cornering Yoojin against the nearest wall. He's so big he covers nearly all of Yoojin's sight, in the half-lit living room, it's like they're the only ones existing in the world.

"It's pretty," he mumbles. "Are you hiding your assets so you don't have to pay child support?"

The corner of Hyunjae's lips rises, the action quick as if involuntary, and he kisses Yoojin again, deep. His scent clogs Yoojin's sense of smell. He only realizes he's still gripping Hyunjae's hair when they separate again. Hyunjae is slightly flushed on the cheeks, but nothing compared to Yoojin, who feels like he just got his lungs sucked out of him.

Hyunjae nibbles at his lips, then trails rough kisses down his neck, his huge hands pressing bruises on Yoojin's thighs.

"You drive me crazy," he whispers against Yoojin's ear, less composed. "Are you having fun?"

Yoojin laughs, going high off Hyunjae's pheromones. "So much fun. Maybe we should stay divorced. You've been on such good behavior lately."

"I'm always on my best behavior," he says. "But I don't think I can be any more patient. I like keeping my property in my sight at all times."

I'm not yours, he wants to say, but Hyunjae lifts him off the ground, positioning Yoojin's legs around his waist like he's nothing but a pretty boneless doll that he can do whatever he wants. Yoojin bristles, but Hyunjae only smiles at him, looking too much like a picture book doting, loving husband. And whatever he wanted to say, any protest that rose in his throat, is washed away by Hyunjae's kisses.

 …

Yoojin's heat is scheduled for Spring, but Hyunjae's rut is dangerously close. In one or two weeks, maybe. Dangerous or not, they go all night. When morning comes, Yoojin's throat is littered with marks, and he can barely move. He's encased by Hyunjae's strong arms, his ex-husband breathing softly against his hair, their mingled scents thick in the air.

He tries to get up, but the arm around his waist tightens. He startles, turning around, but Hyunjae is still asleep—his face is as handsome as ever, with subtle signs of exhaustion lining his eyes. Hyunjae is also quite a light sleeper, so it's weird to wake up before him.

Yoojin sighs and then settles quietly against Hyunjae's chest.

"You shouldn't have signed the divorce if you were going to lose sleep over me, ahjussi," he mumbles, and following the soft breathing from his alpha, he falls back into slumber.
