Operation: Parental Trauma

Summary:

Boruto just wanted to check why his dad was late for dinner—he did not sign up to catch the Hokage and his sensei making out on the office desk. Now stuck between trauma, ramen, and way too much PDA, Boruto’s realizing one thing fast: living with Naruto and Sasuke is way more than he bargained for.

(Or) Naruto and Sasuke are in love. Boruto wishes he was blind.

Work Text:

Boruto Uzumaki was tired of waiting.

The clock was ticking and it was almost midnight. He had ordered Ichiraku ramen—both his and Naruto’s favorite. But now the noodles sat cold, along with the empty seat opposite him meant for the Hokage. Naruto had promised to be home early tonight, and Boruto, against his better judgment, had believed him. He glanced at the clock once again and groaned under his breath, “Tch, old man.” Grabbing his jacket, he headed for the Hokage Tower.

When he entered the Hokage Tower, the few staff members still working smiled at him. By the time he reached the Hokage’s office, the door was slightly ajar, light spilling into the corridor. Just as he was about to throw it open dramatically and yell at his dad for ditching dinner, faint sounds from inside caught his attention.

“—You can’t do this to yourself. You’ll burn out. There are heavy bags under your eyes. You’re collapsing under this paperwork. You’ll be of no use to the village if you’re exhausted.”

Sasuke-sensei, Boruto thought immediately. He’s back?

He pressed closer to the door, straining to hear. Are they fighting?

Naruto’s voice came, softer. “That’s not how it works, Sasuke. I’m Hokage. I can’t just walk away when I feel tired.”

There was a rustling sound, then Sasuke’s low voice again. “I just came back from a really traumatizing mission. Is it bad that I’m hoping you’ll join me in bed?”

What? Boruto blinked. What is happening?

“Yeah, yeah, it’s all romantic and all,” Naruto muttered, “but I seriously have to finish this paperwork. Maybe I’ll join you later.”

More rustling followed. Then—“Naruto…” A soft sound that made Boruto’s stomach drop. Was that a moan?

“If you’re insisting on tiring yourself out,” Sasuke murmured, “maybe I can tire you out in other ways.”

No, no, this is not happening. Boruto regretted it instantly as he peeked through the crack.

Sasuke had Naruto pressed against the desk, one hand braced beside his head. Naruto’s face was flushed, his fists clutching at Sasuke’s cloak as if torn between pushing him away and pulling him closer.

“Always trying to get under my skin—” Naruto muttered, breathless.

“Seems to be working,” Sasuke smirked, his lips brushing Naruto’s ear.

No. Nope. This can’t be real.

Boruto’s body jolted as Sasuke tilted Naruto’s chin up and kissed him. Naruto’s hands slid into Sasuke’s hair, tugging him closer with desperate intensity. Sasuke nipped at his lower lip, and that was all it took for Naruto to lose control. With a sudden surge of strength, he gripped Sasuke’s thighs, lifted him onto the desk, and crashed back into the kiss with raw hunger.

Boruto squeezed his eyes shut, trying to erase the image. My dad. And my sensei. What the hell is going on?

The moans, the gasps, their voices calling out each other’s names—it was unbearable. Naruto’s hoarse whisper carried: “Acting like a bitch, showing up here and asking to be fucked…”

Boruto nearly screamed. He slapped both palms over his ears. Just as he was about to bolt, the floorboard beneath him creaked.

Everything went silent.

Boruto opened his eyes to see Naruto staring wide-eyed, his hand still under Sasuke’s shirt. Sasuke’s lips were swollen, his expression bored, almost irritated, as if Boruto had interrupted something important.

“Uhh…” Boruto stammered.

“Boruto,” Naruto said quickly, yanking his hand back and scrambling to fix his hair.

“I was just about to—what is going on here?” Boruto asked, his voice cracking.

Naruto looked as if he’d just been hit by a Rasengan. “Ugh, we were…—”

“We were about to do it, and you—” Sasuke said bluntly, pointing straight at Boruto, “—interrupted.”

“Sasuke!!” Naruto yelped, horrified.

“What? It’s about time this brat realized. He’s not a kid anymore.”

“This is not how I wanted him to find out,” Naruto groaned.

“Well, don’t look at me like that. You’re the one who wasn’t ready to come home early.”

“Ughhh,” Naruto groaned louder, burying his face in his palms.

Boruto’s words tumbled out in a rush: “Are you guys dating? Since when? Dad, are you gay? Oh my god—does Mom know? Wait, is that why you got divorced?”

Naruto sighed, dragging his hands down his face. “Yes, we are dating. And no, I’m not gay—I’m bi. We’ve been dating for six months now. And yes, your mom knows. And no, this was not the reason we got divorced. What are you even doing here at this hour anyway?”

Boruto crossed his arms, cheeks still flushed in horror. “Because someone promised he’d be home early for dinner, and I got tired of waiting around like an idiot. I brought ramen, by the way. It’s cold now. Just like my soul.”

Naruto winced. “Boruto—”

“I don’t wanna hear it, Dad!” Boruto cut him off, spinning on his heel. “I came to drag you home, not to…to witness whatever the hell this was.”

Sasuke raised an eyebrow, lips quirking. “You mean passion?”

Boruto made a strangled noise. “Stop talking! Both of you! I’m leaving before I throw up in here.”

He stomped out, slamming the door behind him. The office fell into silence.

Naruto groaned again, running a hand down his face. “You just had to say it like that, didn’t you?”

Sasuke smirked, stepping closer. “What? He needed the truth.”

“That wasn’t the truth, that was trauma!” Naruto exclaimed, exasperated.

Sasuke leaned in, brushing a kiss against his temple. “Relax. He’ll get over it. He’s stronger than you think.”

Naruto sighed, leaning back against the desk. “…Yeah, but I don’t think he’ll ever sit at the same dinner table with us again.”

Sasuke smirked wider. “Good. More time alone for us.”

Naruto groaned, burying his face in his hands again. “You’re impossible.”

“Boruto, I’m telling you, if you don’t wake up now—” Naruto yelled while fumbling with his clothes, trying to get dressed for a meeting. “You’ve got your first S-class mission today. Aren’t you excited?”

Boruto groaned, yanked the blanket over his face, and promptly drifted back toward sleep.

Naruto stomped into the kitchen, still struggling to put on his Hokage robe—which, embarrassingly, was inside out. “Good morning, babe,” he said distractedly, leaning down to peck Sasuke on the cheek.

Sasuke, already in cooking robes and visibly fed up with the chaos, arched a brow.

“You shouldn’t disrespect your sensei on your first mission,” Naruto remarked coolly. Then, as if something suddenly clicked, Naruto froze. “Shit! I was supposed to meet Kakashi-sensei early for a debriefing!”

Still tugging helplessly at the robe, he shouted again, “Boruto!”

Sasuke sighed, set the plates firmly on the dining table, and strode over to Naruto. He batted Naruto’s hands away, fixed the robe in one smooth motion, and deadpanned, “Your meeting with Kakashi is tomorrow, not today. Now eat.”

Naruto gave him a sheepish smile, leaning in to steal a soft kiss. “Thanks.”

Sasuke then walked toward Boruto’s room, leaned casually against the doorway, and said in his calm, icy tone, “I’ll only count to three.”

Boruto’s ears perked up immediately. “One… two…”

“I’m up! I’m up!” Boruto shot upright in bed. “Geez, what is wrong with you?”

Sasuke only smiled faintly, all innocence. “Get dressed. Breakfast is ready.”

Boruto trudged into the kitchen a few minutes later, hair sticking out in all directions, still grumbling under his breath. “First S-class mission and I’m being terrorized in my own house…”

Naruto, now seated with a mouthful of rice, grinned. “That’s called good parenting, Boruto. You’ll thank us someday.”

“Yeah, right,” Boruto muttered, slumping into his chair.

Sasuke poured him tea and slid the plate in front of him without a word. Boruto blinked. “Uh… thanks, sensei.”

Naruto’s grin widened as he jabbed at his son with his chopsticks. “See? He feeds you and everything. Better start respecting him more.”

Boruto shot him with a flat look. “Dad, you’re literally the Hokage. Why are you acting like you’re the kid in this relationship?”

Sasuke didn’t even look up as he answered, “Because he is.”

Naruto spluttered, nearly choking on his rice. “Oi!”

Boruto smirked, enjoying the rare sight of his dad on the defensive. “Guess that makes you the mom, huh, Sasuke-sensei?”

Sasuke finally lifted his gaze, expression sharp enough to cut glass. “Finish your breakfast.”

Boruto gulped and immediately shoveled food into his mouth.

Naruto leaned back with a laugh, satisfied. “He’s scarier than I ever was.”

“Exactly why you should listen to me,” Sasuke said smoothly, sipping his tea.

Boruto tugged on his boots, half yawning as he slung his pouch over his shoulder. Naruto trailed after him all the way to the door, tugging at his robe and rattling off a list like he was reading straight out of a mission manual.

“You’ve packed all your kunai, right? Enough shuriken? Don’t forget the smoke bombs—they’re useful even when you think they’re not. Did you double-check your map? Your comms—”

Boruto groaned, cutting him off with a glare. “Dad, seriously? I’m not a kid anymore.”

“That’s what you always say,” Naruto replied, fussing as he tugged on the straps of Boruto’s vest, “but every time I worry—”

Boruto finally threw his hands up. “If you keep this up, I’ll start staying at Mom’s place the night before every mission.”

The words hung heavy for a second. Naruto froze, his smile slipping just a little. Sasuke, still in his cooking robes with his arms crossed, finally spoke up, voice calm and steady.

“Don’t bring down my name as your excuse, Boruto,” he said quietly, his onyx eyes locking onto him. “I’m your sensei. You know what that means. You carry my teaching when you walk out that door. If anything goes wrong, send a hawk. I’ll be there.”

Boruto blinked, startled by the seriousness in his voice. For once, he didn’t argue. His throat felt tight, but he managed a small nod. “...Okay. I will.”

He turned quickly, pushing the door open, not trusting himself to look at either of them too long.

When the door shut, silence filled the house. Naruto leaned back against it, exhaling shakily. Sasuke stepped closer, brushing his fingers against Naruto’s sleeve like it was second nature.

“You’re too hard on him,” Naruto muttered.

“And you’re too soft,” Sasuke countered, but his tone wasn’t sharp—it was warm, teasing.

Naruto chuckled quietly, shoulders finally relaxing. “Guess that’s why he needs both of us, huh?”

Sasuke leaned in, pressing the faintest kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Hn. Exactly.”

Naruto smiled against him, eyes soft. “You’re impossible.”

Sasuke smirked, slipping an arm around his waist. “And you love me for it.”
