If you chose to ignore two major things that were currently happening, it was a perfectly normal day when the world ended. The first of the weird thing was that everyone was forced awake, even people who hadn’t been awake in months were wondering about, talking to old friends, and meeting the new people who had joined during their slumber. The other thing was the more worrying part, and the part that let them know that the world was ending, and that was a giant floating message in the sky that read, “THE END IS NIGH! FROM THIS MOMENT ON, HARDCORE MODE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED! THIS MEANS YOU ONLY GET ONE LIFE, AND DEATH IS PERMANENT. I REPEAT, YOU WILL NO LONGER RESPAWN!”
Lukey was standing at Pangi’s side as they read the message, before looking at each other with a worried look on their faces and looking over to where Aimsey was standing with Ros, who both looked equally worried. “Lets go back to the lab Pangi, there are enemies here who would love to kill us both,” Lukey said, grabbing Pangi’s arm and pulling him away to somewhere they could take off for the lab. When they get to the lab, they immediately go to Lukey’s office to sit down and relax for a second. “What the fuck? What the actual fuck is wrong with the keepers? Why are they doing this?” Pangi asks, sitting down in Lukey’s chair. “I wish I knew, I could always go see if Newt is here if you want. Also, that’s my chair you asshole.” Lukey responds, from where he sat down on the desk, looking down at Pangi.
As soon as Lukey said the name, they heard the telltale sound of a keeper appearing. “Hey Newt! One question, what the actual fuck is going on?” Lukey says, a little anger slipping into his voice as he looks over at where Newt appeared. “I tried to stop them. This is not a decision made by the high keepers. This was decided by the Creators. They are higher than anyone on this realm or within the null. I am just as scared as you are Lukey. They are planning on ending the entire world, the null included. It is not just the outworlders that will die. We all will, keepers included.” Newt says, voice getting increasingly panicked as he goes on. “Wait, everything is ending? The whole realm?” Pangi asks, now going from worried to scared. When Newt nods, Pangi and Lukey both standup and move to stand together. “Is there anything we can do Newt? Do you know how the world is ending? Or at least when?” Lukey rambles on a little. “No. Not even the high keepers can do anything at this point. The world will be engulfed in flames at midnight. The creators know where everyone is at all times, so hiding is impossible. They started by destroying the null. That’s why I am here. The other keepers that escaped are warning the rest of the outworlders of what is coming.”
As Newt finishes his sentence, the community chat is filled with death messages. “I am assuming the others are panicking, and are taking it out on each other, the idiots.” Pangi says with a little eyeroll. “Ok, I know we cant hide from the end of the world, but we can hide to stop from dying early, cause while no one dangerous knows where we are right now, it’s mostly lifestealers killing people. Based off what you have told me, it won’t be long before someone finds our base” Lukey says, looking at the chat, seeing if anyone they cared about was left, so far, no one they cared about was dead. “I built a secret room in my lab. It is under where your sculk was before. The both of you can hide there together. The high keepers are needed elsewhere at the end, so this will be last time I will see you… Lucas… Take care, old friend…” Newt says, pointing them to the tunnel through the flames. “Take care, I wish you the best in whatever happens to you after we are all gone.” Lukey responds with a smile towards Newt. Newt nods, and teleports away.
As they make their way into Newt’s lab, they got another death notification, two at once, “aimsey was shot by Roscumber” followed immediately by “Roscumber was shot by aimsey”. “Well, I guess we know how they decided to deal with the news,” Pangi says with a sad laugh, as Lukey giggles a little. They find the room Newt was talking about, a room made entirely of bedrock, with two beds, a clock on one wall, a few chests, and an enderchest. The two double chests were full of enough supplies to last them a lot longer than they would be alive, and the one single chest in the center of the room had the last piece of bedrock needed to seal them in forever. “Are you sure you want to be stuck with me for the rest of our lives?” Lukey asks with a teasing giggle. “Well, you were always the one turning down my idea to get married, so I think I should be the one asking you that, Honey.” Pangi teases back with a smile. “Do you need anything else from the lab before we seal ourselves off?” Lukey asks, and at Pangi’s headshake, Lukey places the bedrock, sealing them into the room.
A look at the clock told them that they had less than 20 minutes until midnight, until the end of everything. “You know, it’s a little ironic that we are going to die in fire together, considering we were planning on nuking the entire server together.” Pangi says with a giggle, which Lukey responds to with another giggle. They had both taken their armor off an put it in the chests and were sitting on the bed together. “I found sleeping potions in one of the chests, they are a strong version I actually remember Newt inventing when we were younger. They knock you out for at least 8 hours, during which you are dead to the world. We should take them, unless you want to be awake and aware when we die in a fireball.” Lukey says, looking over at Pangi, question in his eyes. “That’s a good idea, I just have one thing I want to do first,” Pangi says, before moving closer to Lukey and pulling him into a sweet kiss. The kiss only lasts a few seconds, when Pangi pulls back, and looks Lukey in the eyes. “I love you, and I wish I had actually married you when I had the chance, and I don’t mean for tax purposes… it was never for tax purposes…” Pangi draws off at the end, looking at Lukey’s face to see if he could gauge his reaction, but he couldn’t. He gets his answer when Lukey pulls him back in for another kiss, this one lasting longer. When Lukey pulls back, he presses their foreheads together, “I love you too, I wish I was brave enough to say that earlier, but I think it’s a case of better late than never for the both of us.” He giggles at the end, Pangi joining him.
As the clock showed them minutes away from midnight, they both took a sleep potion, and laid down, cuddling together as close as they could be without phasing into each other. The spend the roughly 30 seconds before the potion kicked in exchanging kisses, falling asleep just a hair’s breadth apart from each other, in each other’s arms, at peace.
As the clock strikes midnight, the whole world bursts into fire, it’s not a quick thing though, it slowly spreads toward each person who still remains, burning them to death, no matter how much they try to fight it. It slowly spreads, burning its way though the lab, down to the bedrock room. The bedrock can stop almost anything in the world; however, this fire is not one of those things, and it enters the room with ease. As everything in the room turns into ash, they never once move apart from each other. They die in each other’s arms, more than that, they turn to ash together, remains mixing together, assuring that nothing could ever separate them again. The realm did not end on a happy note, but for them, it was peaceful.
