Chapter 1: Chapter One
Chapter Text
Izuku didn’t think of himself as anything special, if anything, he was rather boring. He didn’t really do anything outside of school other than study. He loves looking up the things he had been learning in school recently, he studies everything. He has spent hours researching the human body, and even more learning about quirks. However, no one really cares what he has to say because he’s quirkless.
Because of this, Izuku has been following a carefully crafted schedule he made when he was four.
Wake up and get ready, but be careful not to disturb Inko. He refuses to call her mom, I mean, she stopped acting like one year ago. If he’s lucky, then she leaves for work before he wakes up. Afterall, being a nurse has some pretty chaotic hours. If he’s unlucky then she is already awake. If it’s the latter, then he sneaks out his window. If it's the first option, then he's usually able to grab a granola bar before leaving for school.
Once he gets to school, however, he follows a strict set of rules, which are necessary if he wants to graduate middle school. Starting with number one, don’t speak unless spoken to. His teachers don't like him, so they like hearing him talk even less, to fix this he just simply says as little as possible, only talking when addressed directly.
Number two, don’t answer any questions, ever. Answering any questions in class, unless he is specifically called on, can only end in one of two ways. The first is that he answers the question correctly. In that case his teachers usually accuse him of cheating and send him to the principal's office. The second, getting the question wrong usually ends up with him getting made fun of for being ‘dumb’ and ‘stupid’ whether he got the question wrong deliberately or not.
Number three, don’t fight back. This is one of the first rules that he learned, fighting back only makes it worse. If they were already physically hurting him, then he usually ends up with much worse injuries than what he was probably going to get away with before. If they hadn't gotten physical yet , then he also ends up with pretty bad injuries.
Number four, don't do good on any assignments. Just like in rule two, if he does good on anything, whether it be a test or a worksheet, they just accuse him of cheating and send him to the principal. Although, he has learned that if he gets a D, then he can usually get away with a passing grade and not get accused of cheating.
Those are the main rules that Izuku follows, and if he follows all of them perfectly, then he has a much higher chance of making it home with no new injuries. This seems to be one of those days. He had managed to get away from the school unharmed, although he can’t say the same for his notebook. Katsuki had thrown it out the window, and it had landed in a koi pond. Izuku knew that he and Katsuki weren’t friends anymore. He let go of that childish dream a couple years ago, I mean, friends don’t beat each other up. But, Izuku is smart enough to know that calling him anything other than Kachan to his face would be a bad idea.
He tried it once. Let’s just say that Izuku went home with a black eye that day. Only god knows why, but Izuku never made that mistake again.
He stuffed his notebook into his old backpack. Honestly, he should get a new one, but where would he get the money? He barely has enough for food and his library card, a new backpack would mean no eating for a month.
While Izuku was thinking about stitching up his backpack when he got home, his thoughts trailed back to the advice Katsuki had given him not even 15 minutes earlier. He couldn’t say that he was surprised, he was quirkless for heaven's sake, he’s been suicide baited hundereds of times. In fact, it’s got to be on the daily by now. Really, he has to come up with better insults, that one was pretty unoriginal.
Izuku, now muttering his thoughts aloud, didn’t hear his notebook hit the ground behind him. He would come to regret not sewing up his backpack sooner. When he got lost in thought it was as if he genuinely were lost and couldn’t find his way back to reality. Unfortunately, this meant that Izuku did not notice the sewer grate rattling in front of him, and walked directly into danger.
What seemed to pull him back to reality was the sewer grate flying past his head at a lethal speed. That is definitely not normal. Any normal person would have probably gone running if something came flying at them in a shady alleyway, but Izuku Midoriya is definitely not a normal person.
Before he could do anything other than look down to see the source of the flying man hole cover, Izuku was forcefully grabbed from where he was standing. He was so busy panicking that he hadn’t even realized he could no longer breathe until he felt the sludge try to make its way down his throat.
Izuku clawed at the sticky slime that seemed to encompass his entire body. In his panic he completely missed what the mucilaginous villain had to say.
It felt like hours of clawing and tearing at the goo that was withholding his freedom. He could feel himself getting weaker every second. Izuku started losing hope. He stopped fighting back, just accepting what he thought was his fate.
Izuku’s lungs burned as fresh air rushed in.
The force of All Might’s punch basically sent Izuku flying.
The last thing he remembered was his head colliding with the wall.

Izuku’s consciousness came and went multiple times. Each time, becoming more and more aware of the soreness in his throat, the pain in his chest, and how every time he tried to breathe it felt like swallowing sandpaper. He laid there for awhile, waiting to see if the pain would go away. After what could have been either minutes or hours, Izuku didn’t know, he opened his eyes.
Luckily it was still light out, but it definitely seemed like it would be getting dark soon. After a brief moment of panic, Izuku noted that there was no longer a sludge monster anywhere near him. He sat there for a bit, trying to make sense of what happened. He went over it in his head, walking home, thinking, and then there was something trying to kill him. Turns out today wasn’t going as well as Izuku had hoped. Now both he and his notebook were broken. God, his brain felt like it had been scrambled and then run over by a truck.
Izuku slowly pushed himself up. Briefly stopping halfway when his brain felt like it was going to explode out of his head.. Although, if the bullying was good for one thing, he had an insane pain tolerance, but Izuku could think about that later. It was starting to get dark, and he knew how dangerous it was to be out after dark, injured, nonetheless.
He grabbed his backpack from where it had apparently been propped up next to him against the wall, and started making his way home. His pace was pretty slow, but if he kept it up he might be able to make it home before it was pitch black outside.
At that thought he paused. Home. He didn’t know if Inko was working tonight or not, and he definitely couldn’t climb the fire escape like this, hell, he was barely able to walk. But, he had no other choice, he would have to risk using the front door. He knew the risks. If she caught him, then he would definitely be punished, and being punished on top of being injured would end very badly.
Apparently if his thoughts were good for one thing, it was distracting him, as he soon found himself standing in front of the apartment.
~
Maybe in a different universe things went differently. Maybe All Might was closer to his limit causing his punch to be less powerful, stopping Izuku from passing out. Maybe he wouldn’t have shown up at all, adding one death to the news.
Maybe somewhere his mom helped him fix the holes in his backpack, stopping his notebook from falling out of his backpack. He could have gotten All Might's signature.
One can spend hours thinking about what could or could not have happened, but at the end of the day, they never did, but even the smallest of things can change what happens next.
Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Summary:
A Nedzu POV, wow.
Chapter Text
Nedzu loved going to his favorite cafe that resided in a less populated area of Musutafu, which had some of the best tea. Every now and then he would invite a few of his staff members to accompany him; however, when he entered the staff room, they all seemed to be preoccupied with work of some sort. Aizawa was sleeping, which is normal for the usually very tired man. The other two teachers that were in the room at the moment seemed engrossed in some papers on their desks.
The other faculty had either left, or were somewhere else in the colossal building that was UA. Nedzu enjoys being in the company of his staff, but he also enjoys the days he gets to sit in the small cafe alone. As both a hero and the principal of the number one hero school in Japan, he rarely gets time to relax
Making his decision, he walked out of the staff lounge preparing for the short walk there.
It was a small cafe that seemed to be hidden from the main streets, as he had never seen many people occupy the tables inside. It was run by a lovely woman named Yukiya, she was older than most other humans that Nedzu knew, but that didn’t stop her from running the cafe as best as possible.
Yukiya wasn’t always able to run the counter, sometimes she had to bake pastries and couldn’t do both. She also had errands to run, going to the grocery store, and handling the business side of things.
When this happened, she usually had her daughter greet customers and take their orders. Yukiko was about the age of his second years and she inherited her mothers talent for making tea. However, something about them that first caught Nedzu’s attention was their appearances. They both had long white hair with contradictory black eyes. Similar to Nedzu himself.
He had been coming here for years, since they first opened. That, of course, means that he has had a lot of conversations with Yukiko and Yukiya. One topic that they had never brought up in their conversations was their quirks, although Nedzu believed that had something to do with their eyes.
While he had met lots of other humans with dark coloured eyes, none were as dark as theirs. They were akin to blackholes, sucking and pulling in all light around them.
His thoughts quieted down when he stepped forward and found his foot on a notebook, rather than the ground. That's odd. Finding things on the ground is pretty normal in this area, there were lots of school children on their way home. But what isn’t normal is for the page of this notebook to have a very detailed drawing of him on it.
After reaching down and picking up the small white notebook, Nedzu could see what the page said and-
How interesting…
If there was one thing Nedzu excelled at, it would be analysis. High Specs allowed him to instantaneously pick apart the different components of a quirk. This allowed him to create unquestionably complex and high level analysis in a matter of minutes. Of course, this means that at UA he assists with teaching the students how to do so.
Periodically he will get a student who exceeds the expectations in that class. Typically he gives them harder work sheets to do and more complex lessons.
But Nedzu’s favorite years are the ones that hold a student who is clever enough to get the privilege of learning as his student directly. Of course these students come few and far between, his last student was Night Eye, and that was years ago.
Even at first glance he could tell that this analysis was far better than any of his third years’ work. And UA prided itself on its exceptional analysis classes for a reason.
It seemed to be both organized and messy at the same time. Random thoughts written down, but organized into different sections.
Nedzu decided that he would finish his journey to the cafe before sitting down and looking through it.
Luckily, the trip was short and pretty soon Nedzu could hear the bells on the door ringing as it closed behind him. Today Yukiko was the one who greeted him with a smile, his order already made and waiting on the counter.
Their interactions tended to be silent, the same thing happening everyday. He would go in, grab his drink, pay, and sit in his spot sipping on his tea before leaving. Today was no different and he soon found himself sitting in his usual spot in the corner of the cafe.
After taking the first sip of his tea, oolong, it’s his favorite. He flipped the notebook back open to the page of himself.
Now, after actually reading through the pages, Nedzu found himself thoroughly impressed. IT isn’t easy to impress him, but this notebook held a very high level analysis of himself. There were, of course, a few stray theories that held no truth to them, but the majority of what was written was surprisingly correct.
The author had accurately guessed what Nedzu was. A stoat. Most guess that he is one of the three animals he introduces himself as, but they're wrong. Of course, he has had people guess what he was before, but they also interacted with him on the daily and could see his features up close.
Nedzu is sure that he has never met this person before. He would notice if someone he knew had such a high level of intelligence.
If there was one thing that he now had to do, it would be finding this person.
He instantly started reading it from the start, looking for any sort of identifying information such as a name, age, or quirk. After reading it front to back, without any sort of new information, he started taking in the condition of the book. It was worse for wear, burnt around the edges with obvious water damage on all the pages.
He had originally assumed the damage was from being on the streets for an indefinite amount of time. He now realized that was an oversight on his part. Sure, it had rained recently, and if it was outside long enough that could be the reason for the water damage. But there was no reason for it to be burnt.
If Nedzu couldn’t find the owner from the notebook itself, he would find out what happened to it and try to find anyone who could identify the owner for him.
He grabbed out his laptop that he brought with him, expecting to get some work done, and started looking for any events in the last week that had a fire or explosion of some sort. The most recent event he found had been not even 30 minutes ago. A young boy, younger than his students, exploded his surrounding area while being attacked by a villain.
He quickly skipped past it, that couldn’t be the cause, it had happened on his journey here. He’d found many different villain attacks or accidents that had happened in Musutafu in the last couple of weeks, but he was starting to get frustrated because he could not find any that could explain how it ended up there.
Deciding to take a break, he picked the notebook back up and started looking at the damage more closely. He had ruled out any incidents that only involved fire, as the damage on the cover had patterns that lined up more with explosions. Almost as if it was hit directly with one on purpose. God Damnit…
Nedzu never thinks of himself as dumb, but he got awfully close to it at this moment. Why he hadn’t thought of quirks, he didn’t know. But with this new idea he started looking through the quirk database. He quickly started looking for any quirks that had any sort of explosion aspect to them.
The first person that pops up is Katsuki Bakugou with his quirk name literally being ‘Explosion’. He quickly puts him down in his list of possibilities. He also notes that Bakugou goes to a middle school not too far from where he found the notebook.
He went through the majority of the list before looking at the time. 6:00. It wasn’t too late, but he should still think about leaving soon. Anyways, he managed to make three different lists.
The first one held the names of the most likely candidates, whether it be because of proximity or their quirk alone. This was the shortest list, but that would just make it easier to go through later.
The second one was people who it could be, but it was less likely. That includes people who live here and have quirks that could, in theory, do it, but it makes less sense.
The third list is people who have quirks that do it, but don’t live around here. This will be a last resort list, as most of these people live on the other side of Japan.
Nedzu decided that with the time he had left in the day, he would try to cross off someone from the list. He went back to list one and took a look at the first name, Katsuki Bakugou. After a little bit of searching, he found that the boy had been involved in the villain attack that took place earlier that day, and was currently in Musutafu General Hospital.
Lucky for Nedzu that happened to be within walking distance of the cafe, so he set off.
Notes:
Woah, this chapter was actually sort of hard for me to write :( I ended up completely deleting it and re writing it about three times, however I am now happy with how it came out, so that's good, I guess. Because Nedzu is a genius I have a hard time writing him and making him seem like him and not majorly out of character. Wow who would have thought, a not genius, not knowing how a genius thinks, crazy.
Anyways, I just want to thank everyone for reading, I meant to post this earlier, but as I said I was having trouble with making seem right. Just like I said on the last chapter feel free to leave any suggestions in the comments, After Nedzu finds Izuku I have no idea what I'm gonna do with the plot. If you see any problems with this chapter, feel free to let me know :D
Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Summary:
Boy, where do we think this is going?
Notes:
Hey, sorry for making you guys wait so long for another update, school has been pretty crazy lately. Homecoming was especially crazy as a freshman, and I sort of forgot about this afterwards. I doesn't help that I suck at writing Nedzu, so I kept putting it off. Enjoy!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
To other people Izuku seemed to be a forgetful person, but his memory was actually impeccable. I mean, it had to be. He learned at a young age that writing in his notebooks around other people was a bad idea. He’s basically memorized villain fights as they happened so that he could fully analyze them later. However, the moment he is around people he isn’t comfortable with (which is everyone), he starts stumbling over his words and anything he was thinking about disappears, only to come back later in the safety of his bedroom.
This means that getting home and not being able to find his notebook was unusual. He remembered putting it in his backpack, and not once did he take it out. He then started inspecting both the inside and the outside of the bright yellow backpack seeing where it could have gone. Izuku almost cried when he saw the tear that had grown on the bottom of his backpack. He meant to sew it up before it got out of hand, he really did. But the last time he looked at it, it hadn’t been larger than a quarter. He could now stick both of his hands into it at the same time.
He decided that his notebook could wait, and that it would hopefully turn up later. He went to his desk and took out the small sewing kit that he usually used for fixing up his uniform. He had few sewing supplies and only used them for important things such as big rips. He could live with little holes, afterall.
Sewing was calming for him, but he simply didn’t have the money to do it often. It was calming, making the same movement with his hands, not having to put any thought into it at all. Before he knew it, his backpack was fixed. He put the box back into his desk, but quickly paused what he was doing when he heard the bang of the front door closing.
His mother was home, and she usually didn’t slam the door when she was in a good mood. Izuku quickly ran back to his bed with the intent to stay there for the rest of the night, it was already pretty late, so his notebook was quickly forgotten. Instead, he thought about his grumbling stomach and Inko, who was stomping around the rest of their apartment.
With nothing left to do, he fell asleep.
—
Nedzu looked up at the glowing sign of Musutafu General Hospital. This would mark the start of his search for the mysterious genius. The lady at the desk looked startled when he addressed her, “Hello, is there any way you could tell me where Katsuki Bakugou’s room is?”
“Oh! Hello Mr. Nedzu, sir. Uhm, certainly, he is in room number 131.” The receptionist seemed rather embarrassed that she hadn’t seen him walk up, but that was quickly replaced with nervousness.
“Perfect, thank you!” Nedzu knew that most staff at this hospital were scared, or at least wary of him. This is the closest hospital to UA afterall. He has quite the reputation.
He made his way down the hallway watching the number on the doors slowly increase.
127

Room 131. He paused for a second before making any attempt at entering the room. He could hear a couple people talking. He doesn’t really care what they're talking about, he has a soon-to-be student to find. After knocking on the door, the voices quieted down and he stepped into the room.
Instantly the three people in the room turned to face him. They seemed to be his parents.
“Nedzu… we weren’t really expecting you,” Who he presumed was Bakugou’s father spoke nervously.
“You couldn’t have, I chose to visit less than an hour ago,” His cheshire grin was making its way onto his face, making the couple fidget nervously. This is when Nedzu noticed that the boy he came for was in fact not awake. “Your son is not in trouble. In fact, he might hold information I need to find someone, but it appears he is not awake at the moment.”
Nedzu’s grin slowly slipped off his face as he realized he might not be getting any information after all.
The woman, Mitsuki Bakugou, spoke up, “We might be able to help, I don’t know how much, but even a little bit is still something,” She looked up at him with a look of concern mixed with curiosity.
Nedzu then reached into his bag and pulled out the notebook, “I don’t suppose you might know who this belongs to?” Mrs. Bakugou looked at it for a second before recognition dawned on her face.
“Why? He isn’t in trouble, is he?” Mr. Bakugou spoke this time, albeit quieter.
“Oh, goodness no, quite the opposite actually. I assume you know who made this?” This made his day. He would be meeting this mysterious genius soon, it seems.
“Yes, he’s just the sweetest boy, really smart too. Lives with his mom, the nicest woman I know. His name is Izuku Midoriya, he basically grew up attached to Katsuki’s hip. If I may ask, what are you doing with one of his notebooks?” She seemed a lot less nervous, obviously getting happier talking about the boy.
This made Nedzu excited. If Izuku was the same age as Bakugou, then he would be old enough to apply for UA next year. This was perfect.
“Ah, I merely found it on the street and became interested in its contents. Nothing to worry about. I hope to return it as well," Interested was an understatement, he was fascinated by the writing inside the book.
Looking out the window, he noticed it was getting dark, “It appears I must take my leave now, have a good day Mrs. and Mr. Bakugou. I hope your son recovers soon.” Without as much as another glance at them he promptly left the room.
Nedzu decided not to go searching that night, most humans would be going to sleep soon, afterall. He would have research to do. He would need to find a way to meet Midoriya, and he wouldn’t sleep until he found a way to do that.
Notes:
Thanks for reading! I know I'm not that good at writing, but practice makes perfect, and we all have to start somewhere. I actually have an idea on what these next couple chapters are going to be about, so updates may not be months apart. I make no promises though. Anyways, I love getting comments, they feel so much more important to me than a kudos, those are important to me too. Don't worry.
I have been listening to music a lot more with classes starting recently, and I would love some suggestions. I primarily listen to Pierce the Veil, My Chemical Romance, and All Time Low. If you know any artists like them, I would love to hear about it. I'm also open to other song types, basically everything but country :)
I hope to start writing the next chapter basically as soon as possible, so don't expect a long wait this time. <3
Chapter 4: Chapter Four
Notes:
Oops, sorry for lying to you guys this update took forever. Anyways, hope you enjoy :D

Chapter Text
Shouta likes coffee.
That’s a fact and nothing could possibly change that.
He usually deals with the crappy coffee from his apartment's coffee maker, but every now and then he does like to treat himself. There’s this one small coffee shop down the block, it’s quiet and usually has very few people. The ideal place.
He rolled over in bed finding the spot his husband usually resided in to be empty and soon heard faint humming from the kitchen and recognized it as a song he had heard on the radio the previous day. Rolling out of bed with a grumble, he padded his way towards the source of noise in their otherwise silent apartment.
He walked out to find his husband wearing what he had fallen asleep in yesterday, not even close to being ready for the day. His usually styled hair fell loosely around his shoulders.
He shoved his face into the crook of his husband’s neck and wrapped his hands around the other man's waist. They didn’t say anything. They usually never did. Mornings tended to be rather quiet for the two, Shouta too tired to deal with everything and Hizashi not wanting to put his hearing aids in quite yet.
The world is a very loud place after all, so they take all the quiet they can get.
They would usually be leaving for work by now, but today's a weekend, and Hizashi (surprisingly) didn’t have any patrols scheduled for that day. Free days like this come few and far between for the couple, so they spend every second with each other.
They had decided the previous day that they would go to their favorite coffee shop after breakfast. Sure, they always got the pastries the cafe offered, but they had to eat something healthy.
Hizashi, who had grown up in the United States, loved having American breakfasts. Today he was making french toast. One of their favorites. They just stood there in each other's presence until all four pieces were finished cooking.
Shouta begrudgingly split from his husband to grab plates and forks and set the table. He was just about to sit down when their cat, Bastard, started screaming at him. The noise attracted their other cat, Sushi. Filling their food dishes he grumbled something about waking the neighbors.
Honestly, sometimes they could be louder than when Hizashi finds a spider in the house.
With the cats out of the way, he finally sat down to eat. Just like the rest of their morning, they ate in relative silence, the only noise being the scraping of forks and the clinking of Shouta's coffee mug.
Breakfast was slow that morning. They took their time to eat, savoring their food and each second they got together.
Breakfast was usually an afterthought. A granola bar grabbed on the way out the door, or the jelly pouches that he loves oh so much. UA calls for them to be up earlier than Shouta would like, and Hizashi has lots of early morning patrols, so they don’t have a lot of time to eat together.
Not today, though. Today they have what feels like all the time in the world.
Watching his husband prepare his plate reminds him of just how opposite they really are. He likes to think that their food preferences reflect their personalities. Hizashi has drowned his in syrup. It’s honestly just a sugary mess. His, on the other hand, only has a small amount of butter spread on the top, simple. Just like breakfast should be.
He set his plate in the sink, planning to worry about that later. A second plate soon followed, and the two found themselves getting ready for the day. Shouta just had to change and brush his hair really. But his husband was the complete opposite. Hizashi’s outfits were usually intricate and took forever to put on. It’s usually a problem.
Today, however, he seemed to be toning it down a little, dressing for a nice relaxing day with his husband, rather than his usual days spent basically performing for people. He was wearing a sweater with jeans. There was no extra flair, surprisingly ditching his glasses.
Shouta, himself, actually changed things up a little too. He usually just wore his jumpsuit everywhere out of convenience, but today he was wearing black sweatpants with a white tank top. He refused to believe he would be called in today, and he didn’t want to jinx it by wearing his work uniform.
In the blink of an eye, the couple was already out the door. It was October, not quite late enough in the year to be cold, but not early enough to be hot either. A perfect middle ground.
They made their way outside into the busy streets of Musutafu. Hizashi was humming happily, I mean, how could he not be happy when he literally had the most perfect husband?
They didn’t walk quickly; they weren't in a rush. They didn’t always get the time to just be outside. It was usually on patrol, needing to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Well, they never really put their guard down when they leave the house, but they didn’t have to be hyper vigilant right now. They were okay with that.
The walk was short, and the two soon found themselves standing in front of the small doors to the cafe. With no hesitation he opened the door, I mean, you can’t blame him. He was excited for some actually good coffee for once.
The barista at the counter noticed him and quickly greeted the two. “Oh! Hello Mr. Aizawa, you too Mr. Yamada! Your usuals?”
Shouta nodded, preferring to only speak when necessary. On the contrary, Hizashi was having a lovely conversation with the young woman as she made their drinks. He doesn’t understand the need for small talk, and the barista never seems to judge. When he comes in alone, she seems content to make his coffee in silence.
Their drinks were done quickly, and they made their way to their usual spot. It was a table in the corner of the small cafe. It was far enough away from the window to not have the sun in their face, but close enough to have some sunlight shine on the table itself.
They sat down and ate, this time not in silence like they had not even half an hour before. They spoke of both everything and nothing, and before they knew it 2 hours had flown by. They decided that they had spent plenty of time at the cafe and decided to head back to their apartment. They were going to watch a movie, they had decided. They just had yet to pick which one.
They started debating which one on their way out the door. Hizashi wanted to watch Rio, but Shouta likes horror. He was mid explanation on why Rio is the perfect movie when they heard a loud crash from the closest alleyway to them.
They shared a quick look and slowly went to check out what was going on. Shouta was the first to peek around the corner, and-
Well, that's certainly not what he was expecting.
Notes:
Shouta Aizawa the man that you are. He's like my most favoritest character ever, and I thought that writing him would be easy peasy because of that, but OMG with every sentence I wrote I felt like it was mischaracteration grand central. I feel like I didn't end too bad, but I can definetly improve :)
I'm so sorry that this update took forever, school just actually steals the life right out of me and steals my motivation. I have been stressed with a lot of things lately, but I think that November should be easier. I think I have proved that I can't really promise anything tho. The next chapter I know will be easier to write for sure this time, so will most likely not take a month to write dw
Chapter 5: Chapter Five
Chapter Text
Usually when Aizawa hears loud noises in alleyways they are stray cats or villains that couldn't care less about being quiet. So when he turned to look into this alleyway what he saw was a little different than what he deals with. He turned to look at his husband, who he thought could deal with this situation much more effectively than him. Hizashi seemed to understand and took a step forward.
-
When Izuku woke his head felt like his brain tried playing hop scotch on his skull. He almost let out a groan when he tried to sit up, but quickly remembered that Inko was home. He strained his ears to try and tell if she had left or not.
When he didn't hear anything he slowly moved to let his feet dangle off the bed.
Thank god it was the weekend and he didn't have to go to school. Izuku didn't know if he would be able to deal with getting beat up while in so much pain.
He didn't know how long he sat there but eventually the aching in his head lessened and he stood up.
The world spun around him and he instinctively grabbed his nightstand to keep himself steady.
Now, don't think Izuku is stupid enough to try to go out and about while injured, but he doesn't really have a choice. If he doesn't go to the store and stock his first aid kit and buy some food, then the next month will be literal hell.
Sometimes Inko makes food and doesn't notice when he takes some from the fridge, but most times she only makes herself enough food for one meal.
If he doesn't buy food, then he doesn't eat. Simple as that.
The first aid supplies are pretty self explanatory. I mean, he gets beat up almost daily.
After being able to successfully stand without the help of his nightstand Izuku started to get ready for a quick trip to the store. He changed into new clothes after realizing that the ones on him were disgusting.
He played around with his hair, trying to make it look the cleanest without actually cleaning it. He eventually gave up.
After being as satisfied as he could be with his appearance he grabbed his backpack and tip-toed into the hallway. He had to be careful, in case Inko actually was home.
He peeked around the corner and decided the coast was clear. He started walking towards the door, admittedly faster than he should have.
He would have made it to the door, too. But just when he was about 6 feet away, something large and heavy struck him in the side.
Izuku quickly found himself on the floor, and curled into a ball trying to stop the sharp pain in his chest. He barely even noticed Inko, who had moved and was now standing above him, “Where are you off to in such a hurry, brat?”
Izuku didn't answer and instead just curled up tighter. But Inko didn't seem to like that and kicked him in the ribs. If his chest didn't hurt before then it definitely did now.
He assumes Inko has been drinking because of how she is acting right now. When she's sober she usually just ignores him and leaves him be, but when she's drunk then she usually just wants to start a fight like right now.
Usually he just lays there until she decides to be done terrorizing him.
So he was especially surprised when she hoisted him up by the collar of his shirt and started dragging him towards the door.
“What are yo-”
Izuku was thrown out the door, landing directly on his back, which made the pain in his chest almost unbearable.
“If such a brat like you wants to leave so badly, then why not stay out there. Don't even think about coming back.” The door was slammed shut after that and Izuku was left in shock.
What.
Did he just-
Did his mom just kick him out?
He may have been living pretty independently, not talking to Inko for weeks at a time, but he still needed a roof over his head.
Nobody in the area would hire a quirkless person, and trust him, he's checked.
His only source of money was slipping some from her every now and then. With no money he couldn't get food.
Without food he could die…
No
Izuku can't start panicking right now. He needs to think about this calmly.
He should go to the store and buy food, and now water, like he was originally planning. He'll have to skip out on getting medical supplies, he needs to prioritize food.
He knows one of his ribs is broken, but he can't really do anything about it other than walk it off.
After what felt like an eternity of laying down outside that door, he tried to get up.
His vision went white and the pain in his chest was sharp. It felt like someone had stabbed him and then started twisting the knife.
He felt sweat start dripping down his forehead as he tried to push himself up. He fell back against the concrete floor with a thud.
He had to get up.
He tried again and pushed his limits trying to get on his feet. He was basically clawing at the wall willing his legs to work.
He almost cried tears of happiness after managing to stand up straight.
Ho turned his head to look at the stairs ahead of him and groaned.
Izuku has never wished his apartment building had an elevator more than now. He stood on shaking knees and let out a little victory cheer after making it down three flights of stairs.
He may have fallen once or twice, but he made it down nonetheless.
Izuku started hobbling down the street toward the closest grocery store. The people around didn't even spare him a glance.
Most people in the area recognized him as quirkless, or just couldn't care less about him.
The trip was grueling. By the time he made it his whole body felt like it was on fire and he just wanted to cry. But, he made it.
Luckily, he was wearing his backpack when Inko found him, so he has some money.
Leaning against the wall, he opened his backpack to see just how much money he had.
Oh.
Yea, that's not good.
Izuku has a little over 2000 yen. He could buy some food with it, but it couldn't last more than a couple days at best.
Still, he walked into the store and grabbed the cheapest water he could find and a snack that could last him a while.
He found his items and brought them to the register. The cashier gave him an odd look, but didn't try to help him in any way, even though Izuku's breathing was getting heavier with each minute.
He shoved the items in his backpack on his way out and almost froze with what he saw.
One of Kacchan's lackeys was standing right where he was planning to go.
Izuku decided that he would just keep his head down, and surely they wouldn't notice him. Right?
Wrong.
He was quickly shoved into the wall and getting surrounded by others that he didn't see.
“Stupid Deku thinks he can just shove past us, huh? Why don't we teach him a lesson.” The other agreed and for the second time that day he was dragged.
This time, however, he was getting dragged into an alleyway.
Izuku didn't know how much more his body could take.
He could die here.
That's a scary thought. At least if he died it would be over.
He felt numb. He couldn't even feel the kicks and punches from his peers.
All of a sudden they stopped, Izuku didn't know why. But before he could figure that out, his vision went black.
-
“HEY, STOP!” Hizashi gave a quirked yell.
The teens quickly turned around, surprised.
“Who are you to tell us what to do, old man?” Who Aizawa assumed the leader of their little group is asked.
Hozashi calmly walked forward holding out his ID “Pro Hero Present Mic. Now, I suggest you stop beating him up unless you want to get arrested for assault.”
Aizawa watched as the teens almost comically looked at each other and started running. He was about to laugh, but quickly snapped to attention when he heard Hizashi gasp.
That's when he saw the victim. He looked to be a young boy, with green hair, bruises almost everywhere, and his face was unnaturally pale.
The couple quickly ran to the boy's side. Hizashi checked his pulse and breathed a sigh of relief when it was there. Weak, but there.
“Shouta, this kid needs a hospital” Hizashi was already picking the boy up.
Shouta grabbed the backpack that was on the ground, he assumed it to be the boys.
Shouta looked at his husband, “Musutafu General is a 20 minute walk away.”
Notes:
OH MY GOSH, I am so sorry for taking so long to update. My username is a complete lie. I was originally going to update during my thanksgiving break, but I randomly got really busy and the school weeks between then and our Christmas break are always really hectic. Luckily for both you guys and me my school gave us a snow day today, so I got some time to write. I hope you enjoyed :)
I am sorry if there are any spelling errors, I wrote most of this on my phone, and I am way better at typing on my computer. I am actually so excited for the future of this fic, I have so many ideas. But, if any of you have ideas that you would like to see just make sure to comment and let me know. I can only be so creative, so it is really nice to hear what you guys want to happen. It could also end up being inspiration for a future fic.
