Chapter 1: The Vase
Summary:
Legend has some interesting piece of pottery and Four is examining it.
Notes:
Okay, I watches some YouTube videos a while ago and I'm totally into watching people do pottery. That's where the inspiration for this comes from. And Legend is a hoarder. He collects a lot of stuff. And this vase is just a part of it.

Chapter Text
After examining the hoard - or collection how its owner referred to it - in Legends basement the chain had moved into the living area of the house.
While everyone else was making conversation, mainly with Ravio, the new or old roommate of Legend, Link or rather Four was taking a look around. In comparison to the messy basement the living area was rather kept well and cozy. If not a bit dusty, since the veteran didn`t use the house that often.
His gaze fell on a vase with a rather odd shape. It had a mostly cylindrical shape, but the top was a bit more… bulky and rounded and the bulk was getting thinner towards the top where the opening was. At the bottom there were two rounded shapes giving the vase a rather stable stand. The glazing was reddish at the top and blended into a nice tone of beige for the rest. And the cylindrical middle part, which was rather long, had some embossed decorations in the form of… Okay, those were definitely veins! Legend had a cock shaped vase in his living room right in front of the window for everyone to see! He didn’t even put flowers in there to cover up the shape!
Four came a bit closer. After a short look over his shoulder to make sure no one was watching him, he picked up the vase to take a closer look at it.
It had something written into the bottom:
“From Tulip to Link
I will never forget you”
Four opened his mouth. Then he closed it again. No, there were some things he didn’t need to, he didn’t want to know about his new companions and THIS was one of them. He put the vase back to its place and decided to not ask questions about this. EVER!
--------
A few years prior.
Ravio stood in Legends living room holding up the most atrocious looking co- ah, vase. He looked it all over and then saw the writing on the bottom.
“What the?!”
He turned around to Legend shooting him a scandalised look.
“Link, what on earth is that?!”
Legend looked back at him, one eyebrow raised and a grin on his face.
“Oh, wouldn’t you like to know?”
Notes:
I know it's stupid, but it made me giggle thinking about it, so here you go!
Chapter 2: Corridors
Summary:
Legend and Wind walk right into a trap. Will they find a way out of this narrow corridor before they get squashed?
Notes:
This one is a bit angsty. But don't worry, no Links were harmed during the writing of this chapter!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Legend and Wind ran down the steep corridor as fast as they could, already panting heavily. Behind them was a square block sliding down, not leaving the tiniest bit of space in said corridor to dodge it, all while gaining more speed every second.
“Oh fuck! If there’s no turn coming soon, we will – ha – end up as pancakes!”, Wind cursed.
“Shut up and keep running!”, Legend urged him on in return.
They were both getting tired and there seemed to be no way out of this trap, they had both stepped in. After another few seconds down, in which the block came even closer, Wind spotted something.
“There! There’s a wall! And – and on the right there’s a turn!”, he panted exited.
The Veteran looked forward. The Sailor was right! There was a turn coming up in front of them! Right there at the end of the corridor. A slight smile appeared at the corner of his lips. So, there was a way out of this for both of them!
“I don’t think we will be able to – to take it – ha – if we keep running like this!”, Wind yelled, slight panic in his voice.
“We have to – keep this speed up – hah – or the block will – will get us!”
“We won’t – we won’t make it!”, the panic in Wind grew, the closer they came to the wall, the block right on their heels.
“Keep going!”
“We are going to die!”
Then, just before he was about to hit the wall in front of them, he got pushed to the right. He fell hard on his side and before he could even look back at Legend, there was a loud bang. And then nothing.
Wind sat in dead silence. All he could do was stare at the block which now sat flat against the wall.
Why hadn’t he seen this coming? Sure, the Vet was kind of rude a lot of the time and liked to tease the others a lot, but deep down he was just like the rest of them. A Link. A self-sacrificial idiot!
Tears started to form in his eyes, as the realisation kicked in. Legend, their Veteran, was dead. His lips quivered. Then he saw something move in the right corner of his eyes. He whirled around, sword ready in his hand. And paused. There was a painting on the wall. A moving painting, which looked a lot like Legend. He lowered his sword, staring at the painting in pure disbelieve, as it rose of the wall and became three dimensional.
“Phew, that was close!”, Legend sighed and looked over to Wind. “Are you okay?”
“You… You are alive!”
Before Legend could answer, the young Sailor had flung himself around his chest, hugging him as hard as he could.
“I thought you were dead!”
The Vet looked down at him, as the younger hero buried his face into the front of his tunic. He petted his head lightly and said: “Oh, you know me. I have an item for everything.”
Then he held his bracelet up in front of Winds face, who let go of him to get a better look.
“That’s what this thing is for? I thought it was just decorative.”
“None of my jewellery is just decorative. All of it has some magical properties.”
Wind looked up into Legends face. “Why didn’t you say you could do something like that?”
“And then? Was I supposed to leave you alone in a situation like that?”
“No… You really did save me back there.” The Sailor gave the Veteran a big smile. “Thanks for that, by the way.”
“You are welcome.”, Legend smiled back.
Then he looked into the corridor they had fled into.
“And now let’s get out of here. Shall we?”
Notes:
Yuga did the same thing with Legend. But I think the block did better running into the wall than Legend.
Chapter 3: The Bet
Summary:
Legend keeps the nature of his relationship with Zelda a secret. But it's about to come out. The rest of the chain has a bet running.

Chapter Text
They were in the veteran’s time again. For some reason they ended up a lot in his time. As they mentioned it, he just shrugged and told them jokingly that he must be cursed since he also had the most adventures of all of them and this was just the continuation of the trend. At least the rest of them hoped that he was just joking. You never knew with the vet.
The black blooded monsters were already dealt with and now they were on their way to the castle. One of the royal knights had found them and informed that the queen, Legends Zelda, had been searching for him. He had been instructed to escort him to the castle if he was found. Legend had rolled his eyes at that, but the Knight kept insisting.
While the vet didn’t seem keen on disrupting their hunt for black blooded monsters the others all were incredibly curious. They all had exchanged some stories and facts about their Zeldas and their relationship towards them. The only one who had stayed rather vague about the kind of relationship towards his Zelda was Legend.
He had told them that they were really close, but didn’t provide further information on what that meant. And as they asked him how she was he had just answered that she was a lady, which didn’t tell them anything. Almost all of their Zeldas could be described as a lady. Warriors had put the most effort into getting some more information out of him, but without any results.
So, they did what all Links did in such a situation. They made bets. Warriors was convinced they were lovers and Legend was just being shy about it, unlike Sky. Fours said they were just really good friends. And why not? He and his Zelda were best friends, too. Wind on the other hand took a different approach and said they were siblings and the vet just didn’t want to admit he had an older sister. The rest of them had joined in on those three options.
Now they were finally about to find out who got the pot!
It didn’t take that long to reach the castle. The knight led them into the throne room and closed the door behind them. There on the throne she was. She was talking to an adviser whom she dismissed immediately as she saw who arrived.
As all of their Zeldas she was of divine beauty. But she carried herself with more grace and there was a softness to her face and she moved in an elegant way, even though she seemed in a hurry to reach them, as she walked down from the throne. They all had to agree that Legend had been more than accurate in his description. She really was a Lady. And she was big. As she stood before their Veteran you could see she was almost two heads bigger than him.
“Link! I had been so worried about you… You just vanished without leaving as much as a note!”, Zelda started as she scanned her Link for any injuries. Legend looked slightly annoyed but had a smile on his lips.
“I am alright, Zelda. This isn’t my first adventure. And I am not even alone this time.”
“Still… would it hurt you to inform me of you leaving?”, she sighed.
Then her gaze fell onto the other heroes. She smiled.
“Welcome to you all. I would ask you who you are, but I already know the answer, Heroes of Hyrule, who all carry the name Link.”
“Really?”, Time cocked an eyebrow. “I didn’t know your divine magic could tell you such details.”
She snickered, holding a hand up in front of her mouth.
“Not only that. I also talked to Links housemate, Ravio. He told me about your meeting.”
“So, you did know where I was? Why the big fuss then?”, Legend asked, putting his hands on his hips.
“Well, I would have liked to hear it from you and not from your friend.”, Zelda scolded and the Veteran rolled his eyes.
“Anyway.”, the queen changed the topic. “I am sure you must all be hungry. My adviser has already informed the kitchen about your visit. I would be honoured if you were to stay for dinner.”
With that she started to lead them into an area of the castle, where they could clean themselves and get some fresh clothes before dinner.
As she walked them around, she would tell them about the castle, but mostly she would talk to Legend.
“Did you get enough food?”
“Yes, the champion here is an excellent cook.”
“Have you packed enough clothes? Do you have a jacked for when it gets cold?”
“Sigh, I always carry a jacket with me!”
“And pants?”
“Zelda… Could you stop mothering me?”
He sighed exasperated. Zelda looked a bit sheepishly at that remark.
“I am sorry. But I always worry so much about you.”
Behind them the rest of the chain tried not to laugh. The sigh was just too precious. His Zelda fussing over him like an overprotective mother cucco.
The dinner was excellent. Wild said he would later visit the kitchen and ask for some of the recipes. Time and Warriors spent most of the evening talking to the queen and telling her about their adventure. After they were done eating Legend left and said he would go to the stables to look after his horse. Which surprised some of them. None of them had known he had a horse.
After he had left, Zelda let go of a deep sign.
“Is everything alright, your highness?”, the captain asked with worry in his voice.
“Yes, it is. I am just afraid I annoyed him a bit, since he is leaving us already.”, she laughed.
Time chuckled. “Ah yes. He doesn’t like that. Even though he does it himself, every time one of us gets hurt.”
Everyone laughed at that remark. It was true. He acted like he didn’t care, most of the time. But he was always one of the first to be at the side of an injured teammate and lend a helping hand.
“That’s good to know.”
Zelda seemed to be a bit more at ease now. “But I get it. He is a well versed adventurer now. And still, every single time I look at him, I still see the soggy little child from back when we met the first time, as he rescued me from the castle dungeons.”
“Soggy little child?”, Four asked, trying not to laugh at the description. Zelda either didn`t notice or didn’t care.
“Yes. He walked through a storm after I had contacted him telepathically. I expected a great hero, like it was said in the prophesies, but instead came an eight year old child… Don’t get me wrong, he still showed great heroism and defeated the evil which was threatening Hyrule, but it never sat quite right with me that he was so young.”
They all got that. Legends Zelda seemed a lot older than Legend and sending out a young child seemed cruel.
“I get that. I’m sure you must have felt guilt, as you sent him out.”, Warriors responded.
“Yes. But I am really happy he isn’t alone this time. I am sure you all are great companions.”, she smiled at them contently. And they all smiled back.
The next morning, they left after breakfast for the next portal. After they were out of the hearing range of the castle Four sighed heavily.
“I guess none of us won that bet.”
“No. None of us would have guessed THAT!”, Warriors answered dejected.
Legend was confused. Everyone else seemed to know what they were talking about, since they were nodding along. It was just him who didn’t have a clue what this was about.
“Well, we were making bets about the nature of your relationship to your Zelda.”, Hyrule started to explain, with a shit eating grin on his face.
“Oh no…” Legend knew where this was going.
“Yes. We had lovers, best friends and siblings in the pot.”, Wind chirped in.
“But none of us had thought of mother and son.”, Sky laughed.
“She is NOT my mother!”, Legend half screamed, as the rest of them laughed at his behaviour.
“That’s not the feeling we had.”, Wild added.
“You guys! I am no longer talking to you Moblin brains!”, the Veteran countered.
“Does your mom know you throw around insults like that?”, Twilight asked, this time.
“Argh! Just leave me alone!”
They all laughed as their Veteran stomped ahead angrily.
And exactly that behaviour had been the reason why he hadn’t told them about his relationship with his Zelda. That wouldn’t be last time he had heard of that…
Notes:
This short is based on another fanfiction of mine. It's a alttp fic. If you want to read it, it's here:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/68133361
But I would recommend reading it after the short, so the end is more of a surprise.
And before anyone comes over and tells me they are actually siblings, that is not canon. It's just a really beloved headcanon in the fandom, which I get. But for comedy purposes I decided to take a different approach here.
