Work Text:

Ever since being released from the practice room and reunited with Andrew, Luke felt a faint, insistent tingling under his skin. It was hard to ignore the strange sensation, like his whole body was gravitating towards Andrew even more than usual, trying to tell Luke he needed to be near his boyfriend right now after the agony of being shut away from him all night.

He was aching to be back in Andrew’s arms where he fit so perfectly, starving for even a hint of their usual easy affection after having to hold back while Jim waved them off campus. It was a true test of restraint not to kiss Andrew stupid the moment they turned down the dim-lit street corner away from the security guard, but Luke forced himself to resist temptation for just a little longer.

He could wait at least until they reached the station since it was already almost dawn; the time between trains would be much longer than usual, so they’d have plenty of time to linger while waiting for the next one. Then Luke could finally focus all of his attention on his sweet boy who’d known something was wrong and come looking for him without even a call or text for help.

It had been a really long night for the both of them. He and Andrew spent the entirety of the past few hours talking softly to each other through the locked practice room door, waiting for Jim to return with a spare copy of the master key. Even still, as Luke felt the exhaustion weighing down his eyelids, the pleasant sound of Andrew’s deep, soothing voice through the doorway kept him just awake enough to absorb his every word.

Luke would never get tired of hearing Andrew talk to him with all that tenderness in his voice. It was almost unbearably precious coming to know the side of Andrew that was softer than what he let anyone else see. The real him. It was that sincere, honey-sweet Andrew Young that Luke was already beginning to fall in love with.

While he was still locked in the practice room, they wasted the time away talking about everything and nothing. They went over how his play was coming along, then a bit about Andrew’s chemistry labs, and a lot about how much they both wished they could see each other right now. At some point the ache of want became so visceral that Luke slumped down against the door with eyes closed, picturing it was Andrew’s warm chest against his back and not just the cold oakwood. Ignoring the soreness in his neck, Luke turned his head to the side just enough so that his ear touched the door, making Andrew’s voice feel just that little bit closer, like an embrace.

He couldn’t pinpoint exactly why, but what should’ve been an uncomfortable night had quickly turned into something lovely. Quietly intimate, even. It was nice to be able to just sit around and talk to Andrew without the lingering priorities of his play or Andrew’s studies getting in the way. It made Luke want to create more memories like this, where they could spend time together unhurriedly. He promised himself that once he got out of here, he’d plan them a proper first date.

Now, as Andrew followed him down to the subway platform, Luke felt the last of his resolve dissipate. He pulled Andrew towards him by the strap of his bag, unable to contain his laughter at the resulting startled look on his face, and then Luke was backing him into a more secluded corner, hugging Andrew tight like he’d been wanting to so badly all night.

Luke sighed at the feel of Andrew immediately sinking into the embrace, hugging back with arms wrapping snug around his waist. Luke buried his face into the crook of Andrew’s neck as Andrew kissed his ear, resting his temple against Luke’s hair and nuzzling softly.

They fit together so well. Luke adored the all-encompassing warmth that came with being held by Andrew, who was like a big puppy when it came to affection. Whenever they hugged, it was akin to basking in the sun’s gentle warmth on a summer afternoon, or sinking into a hot bath after a strenuous shift at work. A sensation you never wanted to be rid of if you could help it. Luke found himself missing it even when Andrew was right there next to him.

Their newly budding relationship was such a wonderful thing, and Andrew was so good to him it sometimes made him ache to think about. Luke was sure he’d never experienced such raw, intense happiness as when he was in Andrew’s arms like this, or when he was kissing Andrew’s lips. His bliss was amplified even further whenever they made love, and Andrew treated him with all the care in the world.

Luke had been turning all of this over in his head since the moment he confessed to Andrew and their kisses for practice turned into genuine ones. He was realizing with startling clarity that Andrew was a more perfect boyfriend than he could've ever hoped for—not that he’d even considered having a boyfriend as a possibility before they started making out and he realized he really, really liked it.

Luke was also realizing that while he’d already gotten comfortable thinking of Andrew as his boyfriend, Andrew seemed to be struggling with the same idea.

Luke needed to clarify things with him as soon as possible, so there was no more room for worries or assumptions between them. Because as much as Luke was confident that he and Andrew felt the same way about each other and their newly blossoming relationship, he also knew that Andrew was used to burying his true feelings in order to avoid conflict.

Despite all of that though, Luke trusted him. After their first night of honest kisses and careful lovemaking, Andrew sat on the bed next to where Luke lay and told him everything about who he truly was, along with all the secrets of his past that he kept hidden to ensure he could start a future entirely removed from his father and politics. It changed the way Luke looked at Andrew; it made him even angrier about everything Derrick said to ruin his reputation, and at the same time even more proud of Andrew for maintaining his kindness despite all that happened to him.

It was why Luke knew Andrew wouldn’t lie to him with any bad intentions, and why he was pretty sure Andrew was actually lying to him in order to protect his own heart from the fear that if he expressed wanting to be Luke’s boyfriend, it could end their relationship altogether.

Luke remembered what happened in the bathroom earlier today, when he apologized to Andrew for getting too close to his classmate while preparing for the play. As much as Luke wanted to believe Andrew, his immediate reassurance that Luke had nothing to apologize for felt hollow. Luke really hadn’t meant to spark any jealousy or possessiveness through his actions, but at the same time, he knew this was Andrew’s first romantic relationship, so any feelings of hurt were completely valid.

Luke had some time to think back on what happened while locked in the practice room, waiting for Andrew to come looking for him. The way he smiled and hugged Luke before losing confidence halfway through what he meant to say, instead whispering words so indicative of his unspoken insecurities.

‘…Friend, right?’

It was like a knife to the heart, and not because Luke believed what Andrew said into the otherwise empty bathroom. It hurt because Luke knew that Andrew was putting on a smile for him, keeping things cordial and pushing down what he truly felt because he really believed that’s what would keep them together. Luke wanted to take Andrew by the shoulders at that moment and make it clear that friend didn’t even come close to what Luke considered him.

Luke hated knowing that Andrew was plagued by so many invisible insecurities. He was going to make sure they talked about all of their wants and worries so Andrew knew he never had to bury his emotions again.

But then Luke’s classmates called for him from outside the bathroom, and a lump formed in his throat. He watched Andrew leave and worried about him all afternoon, asking Bruno to edit the script instead of calling Andrew or telling him he had something important for them to talk about once he got back home.

Luke was going to fix all of that now, especially since Andrew was currently playing into what Jim said about how they must be great friends if Andrew came all that way to demand he fetch a spare key as quickly as possible.

Thinking about how much Andrew cared about him without thought towards his own heart was too much, and Luke really couldn’t take it anymore. He brought Andrew’s face closer so that their lips touched, and then began listing off his friends, leaving a pointed kiss to Andrew’s lips between each one to emphasize just how different he was from all of them. Luke needed him to understand that he didn’t do this with anyone else. He didn't want to kiss or be with anyone but Andrew, and he’d be damned if Andrew didn’t know it with every fibre of his being.

The sensation of Andrew’s strong arms wrapped around his waist was a grounding force against the unsteady nerves building in his stomach. Luke wasn’t entirely sure how to go about starting this conversation, so he tried posing the question as something lighthearted, smiling and bumping the tip of his nose against Andrew’s to convey just how okay everything was between them despite the underlying weight to his words.

Still, he couldn’t help the niggling worry that even though he was sure Andrew felt strongly about him, maybe it was a mistake to bring this up at all. He forced himself to go through with it while he still had the nerve.

“Do you really want to be just ‘good friends’ with me?” Luke asked, fingers threaded gently through Andrew’s puppy curls.

He watched Andrew’s soft green eyes as they widened ever so slightly, perhaps not expecting them to talk about this now, or maybe ever.

Luke hugged Andrew a little closer to him at the first sign of his hesitance, heart squeezing at the thought that Andrew never really let himself believe he could have what was so obviously blossoming between them.

For a moment they just stood tangled together like that, looking into each other's eyes as Andrew carefully mulled over his response. Luke could feel the tension slowly seeping out of his frame, and just as Andrew seemed ready to answer, there was the familiar rumbling of the train approaching from one end of the tunnel.

Luke sighed, both exasperated and a little relieved at the unlikely timing. He closed his eyes and thumped his temple against Andrew’s chest as the train began pulling into the station, pressing a kiss against the fabric of his shirt before reluctantly letting go and walking towards the yellow line.

Andrew followed close behind him, brushing their fingers together subtly as if in wordless apology for not yet being able to speak his mind.

Luke bit his lip and looked at Andrew as the train finally came to a halt in front of them. “We can continue talking about it as soon as we get home, okay?”

It was probably a good sign that Andrew only nodded, hooking one of his fingers through Luke’s before letting go and following him towards the back of the mostly empty subway car. Andrew sat in the corner and Luke slid in after him, peeking up from under his hoodie to get a look at the other passengers.

Almost no one was awake at dawn if they didn’t have to be, and the car they occupied wasn’t very big, so the train was mostly empty. There seemed to be only two other people sitting significantly further up in the car—one being a woman in scrubs, and another being a teenage girl. The woman was slumped against the wall with eyes closed in some semblance of sleep, and the girl was sitting perpendicular to them with headphones on, staring through the window while zoning out, probably focusing on her music.

It was empty enough that Luke let himself indulge in the affection he was still desperately craving from Andrew. He leaned his head against Andrew’s shoulder, leaving a light kiss against his neck as he shuffled in just a bit closer.

Luke felt more than heard Andrew’s breath hitch at the barely-there contact, and then one of his arms was slithering around Luke’s waist, pulling him in even tighter until his front was flush with Andrew’s side. Luke hummed, pleased with his small advances being reciprocated.

They stayed like that for a few minutes, listening to the subsequent stops as they were announced on the overhead speakers. Eventually, the young girl got off, leaving only the sleeping woman sharing the car with them.

“I wanna kiss you so bad,” Luke murmured, still resting his head against Andrew’s shoulder. He needed an outlet for all of the affection bubbling up inside him just thinking about how they were going to be real boyfriends soon. Maybe even as soon as they got back to their dorm…

“Soon,” Andrew mumbled back, squeezing his hip gently.

Luke blinked, looking up at him in silent bewilderment. It was like Andrew responded directly to his thoughts, agreeing that they would start dating for real tonight. After another moment, though, Luke realized it was just Andrew referring to what he said out loud, agreeing to kiss him but only later, once they were truly alone.

Luke gave him an exaggerated pout once it set in that he’d have to wait, and Andrew cracked a smile at the ridiculous display of emotion. Luke thumped his head back against Andrew’s shoulder, feeling his boyfriend’s chest vibrate with quiet laughter. “There isn’t even anyone on this train…” he grumbled, snaking his arms around Andrew’s waist to hold him closer despite his faux annoyance.

After another few beats of comfortable silence, Andrew gave in, reaching a hand into Luke’s hood to cup his chin and give him one blissfully long kiss. Luke chased after his lips when Andrew pulled back, practically falling over his lap in his pursuit for more.

Now they were both laughing quietly, Andrew pulling Luke into his chest in a real hug. “You’re too much,” he whispered, still trying to be considerate of the sleeping woman despite how far up the car she was. “I want to wait until we get home to properly kiss you, because if I start now we’re definitely going to miss our stop.”

Luke pecked Andrew’s lips once before he could protest. “Hah, fine, I guess you’re right.” And then, as if on queue, the overhead speaker crackled on to announce the next stop as theirs.

Luke watched his smile start to slowly mirror itself on Andrew’s face at the idea that they would be home together with real privacy soon. Luke stood from his seat and took Andrew’s hand while the train pulled into the station, a little reckless but mostly uncaring of who saw them when he was so full of giddy anticipation.

As soon as the doors opened, Luke breezed across the platform and up the steps, Andrew trailing behind with fingers still intertwined through his. Once they made it outside and onto the lamplit street, Luke slowed their pace back to walking speed, keeping his hoodie up as an excuse not to let go of Andrew’s hand.

Even though they were heading home at an hour where the streets were nearly empty, Luke basked in the freedom of being out in the open while able to show intimacy with Andrew. He knew handholding wasn’t anything groundbreaking, especially not after everything he’d done with Stacy on dates, but Luke was still completely new to being with a man. It upset him to think about how anyone could feel hatred towards the way he and Andrew experienced love; he’d hardly even pieced together his sexuality yet, so the intrinsic fear that someone would say something to him and Andrew and burst the happy bubble they had was unshakeable.

Luke was starting to think he understood why he was falling much faster and harder for Andrew than he had for anyone else. Because while Stacy sometimes seemed distant or uninterested during their dates, Luke knew Andrew cherished him deeply just by the way he looked at Luke while others were around. Andrew never seemed less enamoured with him as he was the day before; it was intoxicating to know he was wanted this badly, especially when he felt the exact same way towards Andrew.

Even when Andrew held back at school—whether because he thought he was protecting Luke, or if he was just too afraid to test the limits of their relationship out in the open—Luke knew Andrew wished he could do more. He could see all of the unreleased tension in Andrew’s frame when he was with his theatre friends, wanting to go in for a hug but opting for a smile instead. Or the way those green eyes softened only for him, as if to say ‘I missed you,’ when the only things to come out of his mouth were “how was practice?”, or “want to get food?”

All of these new emotions swirled through Luke like a raging storm. Everything between him and Andrew felt heavy and real in the best way, so it hurt to watch Andrew continue burying his emotions in order to shield Luke from both outside factors and his own invisible insecurities. Luke was scared, too, but more than anything he wanted to be with Andrew and let them be the only thing that truly mattered.

Luke hadn’t realized he stopped walking until Andrew squeezed his hand gently, rubbing his thumb back and forth across Luke’s in lieu of a question. Everything alright?

There was a lump forming in Luke’s throat, and without even realizing it, tears started welling up in his eyes. He looked down at his shoes, softly lit by the street lamp further up the block, and tried breathing slowly to calm the sudden wave of unwanted emotion bubbling up to the surface.

“Luke…?” Andrew said, taking a cautious step closer and using his free hand to cup one side of his face. Andrew was tilting his head up so they could look at each other properly, but Luke fought against him, embarrassed by his own unprovoked outburst.

When it became obvious Luke was hiding from him, Andrew bent down just enough to get a glimpse of his face as he retreated further into himself and his hoodie. At the first sight of Luke’s expression, Andrew brought his other hand up so he could cup his face properly, wiping at his emerging tear-tracks with both thumbs.

“Luke, baby, what’s wrong?”

And it was that gentle tone, paired with the unconscious slip of Andrew calling him what he’d probably been wanting to for a while now, baby, that had Luke crumbling under the weight of his own emotions.

He couldn’t control the tears any longer, and as soon as the first sob broke through his lips, he instinctively reached for Andrew for comfort. Andrew opened for him as soon as Luke sought his embrace, hugging him tight without a second thought. Luke fell apart in his arms, not even really sure why he was crying, but needing the warm familiarity that came so naturally from being held by Andrew.

It felt good to let go. It was like the day he officially broke up with Stacy, after she tried giving him his camera back. She'd gotten defensive, trying to twist her actions to make herself seem innocent, but then Andrew had shown up, shutting down her excuses and demanding she apologize to Luke after the deception she’d put him through. Luke remembered crying for hours on the library steps that night, Andrew sitting with him through it all, never passing judgement but remaining a solid presence while he broke down.

This time was different though. This time, Andrew’s tender heart was the centre of why Luke was feeling so emotional, yet at the same time he was also the unwavering presence holding Luke together. The word love bounced around inside Luke as Andrew held him, but he didn’t have a clear place for it yet.

He was so unused to feeling this much or this intensely about anything.

When his tears eventually started to subside, Andrew began rubbing a hand across his back, doing his best to soothe him despite not knowing why Luke had begun crying in the first place. It almost made the tears return again, feeling the weight of just how much Andrew cared for him in moments like this, when he needed to let everything out before he could gather the right words to explain himself.

”I’m sorry, Andrew…” Luke started, sniffling. “I’ve just been thinking about a lot, and then I guess everything hit me at once.”

Luke lifted his head from Andrew’s chest so he could look at him while he spoke. Andrew for his part just nodded subtly in wordless acknowledgement, combing a hand through Luke’s hair as silent encouragement to continue.

“There’s so much on my mind, but everything leads back to us.” There was a brief moment of silence where Andrew seemed lost, unsure of where this was going or if it entailed something bad for them. He regained his composure quickly, resting their temples together and listening intently as Luke’s tone trailed off into a soft murmur. “I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything as much as I want to be with you, Andrew, and even though my heart tells me you feel the same, I can’t know that for sure unless you tell me. You say we’re friends, but I’ve already been thinking of you as so much more in my head, and I think you want that, too. I’ve been noticing how much it hurts you to hide the way you truly feel, and that hurts me, too. I just want us to be happy. I want to be your boyfriend, Andrew, so tell me you want that too.”

Luke closed his eyes against the recurring sting of tears threatening to surface, overwhelmed once more. A beat of silence passed, and then Andrew was kissing him all over—cheeks, nose, jaw and lips.

“I want to be your boyfriend too, Luke, so badly.” The words were murmured into Luke’s jaw. “I didn’t know how to say it, and I was so scared of overstepping and losing you because of it. I like you so much, and I’m so sorry. I never want to be the reason you cry. I want to see you smile, always.”

Luke was so overwhelmed with affection for this man, he didn’t know what to do with it all. He squeezed Andrew tight to him, a pleasant sort of disbelief beginning to replace his sadness.

“There’s something else,” Luke admitted, wanting to be completely honest now that he’d already started. “I got in my head about what people might think of us, too. You know I’ve never been with a man before, so it’s hard for me not to think about all the possibilities of what people might say or how they’d react to us being together. I can’t help worrying a little, but the more time I spend with you, the more I realize I don’t want to let that fear dictate how I love you where others could see.”

Andrew’s eyes widened at the slip of that word, love. Luke hadn’t consciously meant to say it, and didn’t really intend in the way Andrew was probably interpreting it right now—in the way that couples who’ve been dating for months usually say it. He pushed on to try and divert attention from the slip. ”I don’t want you to be something I have to hide… does that make sense?”

“Of course,” Andrew said. “We can take things slow if you want. Hold hands or give each other a kiss on the cheek sometimes. It makes me really happy to know you want those things with me too. I had no idea I was upsetting you before, so I’m glad you made me talk about all of it; I’ll do my best to leave all my insecurities behind and talk to you from now on instead of staying quiet or assuming how you feel.”

Andrew rubbed a thumb across his cheek reverently. “And again, I’m sorry. If I’d known I was hurting you by keeping my feelings to myself, I would’ve told you how badly I wanted to be your boyfriend a long time ago. You mean everything to me, Luke, and I couldn’t risk losing you because I overstepped.”

“I know,” Luke murmured. “You’re too sweet to hurt me on purpose.”

And then Andrew kissed him again, and Luke could feel all of the unspoken tenderness radiating through him. They broke away from each other reluctantly, only because it was getting so late it was technically early morning.

They gave each other a private smile as Luke threaded their fingers together, both of them walking up the street towards their dorm. “I hope we can at least get to bed before the birds wake up.”

“I think it’s a little too late for that,” Andrew replied, staring down at a robin that was eyeing them from the grass. Luke meant to follow up with something else, but he was suddenly breathless watching Andrew look at the small creature with a quiet fondness in his eyes.

Every new thing Luke learned about Andrew was so endearing. He wouldn’t’ve pinned Andrew as a nature lover before today, but the more Luke thought about it, the more it began to make sense. Andrew was used to isolating himself from people because of his past and desire to create a new life for himself, but nature was entirely removed from all of that. The trees and birds would never judge him no matter how many people in his life had.

“Do you like the outdoors?” Luke asked, unable to contain his curiosity now that the thought entered his mind.

“I do,” Andrew answered plainly. They walked another few paces down the street before he eventually continued, maybe sensing Luke’s genuine interest in his response. “My dad didn’t think about me much outside of his political campaigns. He always cared just enough to make sure he knew where I was at all times, though. That meant I wasn’t allowed to go out much after school, so I used to spend a lot of time in our backyard looking at all the different plants or bugs and birds that showed up. I used to leave food out for a mouse that liked to hide in our bushes, but I never let myself get too close to it because I didn’t want to scare it off. I used to get so sad whenever any of the animals didn’t return, since I knew I had no way of finding out what happened to them.”

“It’s so cute picturing a big kid like you caring for all kinds of little creatures. I want to get to know that gentle side of yours even more now.” He nudged an elbow into Andrew’s side. “And just for the record, I hate your dad even more knowing he kept you cooped up in the house on top of everything else you told me.”

Andrew squeezed his hand, always appreciative when Luke responded with real emotion to any tidbits of his past he felt comfortable enough to share. Luke knew it was important to Andrew for someone to listen and hear his story instead of judging him without reason. After dealing with everything in silence for the past few years of his life, he must be so exhausted keeping everything bottled up inside.

When they made it back to their dorm complex, they padded through the lobby on soft feet, doing their best not to wake anyone sleeping in nearby rooms. They then rode the elevator in comfortable quiet while keeping their fingers entwined.

“Just for the record, we’re skipping class tomorrow, right?” Luke said lowly.

“I don’t have any labs and I’m all caught up on my readings, so it’s probably better if we get some sleep instead.”

“Good, ‘cause that means we can stay up long enough for you to kiss me properly.”

Andrew smiled at his bluntness, very clearly wanting the same thing, and then the elevator was opening onto their floor.

Andrew spent a few seconds that felt like ages searching his bag for his keys, and then he was unlocking the door, and Luke was pushing him inside just far enough to whisk the door back closed and plaster himself against his only mildly startled boyfriend.

It took Andrew only a moment to melt into Luke, wrapping one arm snug around his waist and weaving the other into his hair, grip somewhere between gentle and firm. Luke reached up to hug his arms around Andrew’s shoulders, pulling him down a little to bring their mouths together in a blissful exchange of passion.

It wasn’t long before the both of them were rendered breathless and panting, still chasing each other's lips for more despite the need to stop and breathe. Eventually Luke pulled back just enough to walk Andrew back to his bed, pushing him down so Luke could climb onto his lap and pick up where they left off.

They made out unhurriedly until Luke lost track of time. He couldn’t help the breathy moans he released when Andrew fondled his ass just right, and felt dizzy with the high of Andrew’s answering moans swallowed up by their slow kisses. Luke didn’t know when they’d gone from sitting upright to Andrew now laying back against the sheets, fluffy hair like a halo around his head. They were completely lost in each other, and neither one of them wanted it to end if they could help it.

“Luke…” Andrew started, a hint of desperation in his voice.

“Call me baby again,” Luke whispered.

“Baby,” Andrew croaked, and then Luke was tugging his shirt and rolling, falling back into the pillows as they kissed slow and deep.

One thing Luke never thought he would like was the feeling of another man on top of him. He thought he was straight not too long ago, and even with Stacy, he was the one who usually preferred to be on top.

Everything was different with Andrew, though. With him, Luke was starting to love the vulnerability that came with being underneath another strong body. He loved the all-encompassing warmth of Andrew, needing him and needing the freedom that came with letting go just as much.

He let Andrew kiss him into the mattress, digging hands into his back when his boyfriend started slowly grinding their clothed erections against each other.

Luke stuttered out another breathy moan as Andrew sucked gently on his neck, rolling his hips just enough to drive them both crazy.

“Please, Andrew.” Luke begged. “I need you. Need more. Please, baby.”

The first utterance of that word seemed to get Andrew even more worked up. Luke hadn’t said it to him yet all night even though Andrew had already made good use of his freshly permitted terms of endearment.

Andrew looked up from Luke’s neck so their gazes could meet, lashes low and pupils blown wide. Those gorgeous green eyes glittered with want even in the moonlit room. “Luke… I’ll do whatever you want.”

It was so damn hot seeing Andrew get like this, needing to please him despite being such a worthy subject for Luke’s own worship.

“Make me cum, Andrew. I want us to cum together.”

And then he was pulling Andrew back to him, kissing him desperately as Andrew ground their hips together hard, the delicious friction sending heat all the way through him.

“Ah, Andrew, feels so good.”

Luke’s legs were starting to go numb with all of the pleasure, so he wrapped them tight around Andrew’s waist. His orgasm was fast approaching, and all he could manage was to throw his head back against the pillow and allow himself to let go.

“Mmm,” Andrew moaned, muffling the sound in Luke’s neck. “You’re always so good for me.”

“Andrew,” It seemed the only word still left in his vocabulary after such a long night. He was getting dangerously close now, but he could tell Andrew was too by the way his hips were beginning to stutter against Luke’s own.

“I’m close, Luke,” Andrew panted, biting gently into his clothed shoulder to muffle his groan. “Fuck, I’m coming.”

“Hah, me too, Andrew.” He moaned, feeling hot cum start to fill his boxers as Andrew drove down into him hard, simultaneously releasing his own spend. It was one of the best orgasms Luke had ever had, maybe because of how heightened all of his emotions still were following his earlier discussion with Andrew.

He was so happy everything had gone well between them. When they were both thoroughly fucked-out, Andrew helped an exhausted Luke out of his dirty pants and boxers, removing his own clothes too before helping Luke up and into the washroom.

They showered together even as Luke felt his eyes beginning to droop shut, exhausted in spite of how happy he was to finally be home with Andrew spending their first night together as real boyfriends. At some point, he was so tired he leaned forwards to rest his temple against Andrew’s shoulder, closing his eyes and trusting his boyfriend to make sure he didn’t fall asleep for real until they made it back to the bed.

Luke stayed like that for the rest of the shower, leaning on Andrew and enjoying the gentle rubs from Andrew soaping him up to make sure he got properly clean.

Andrew kissed him lightly on the cheek once he was finished, murmuring to Luke that it was time for bed now and that he needed to walk just for a little bit longer.

When Luke whined and gripped at Andrew’s biceps while he started backing them out of the shower, Andrew smoothed Luke’s hair out of his eyes and picked him up in a bridal carry, laying him out carefully over his mattress.

Luke felt warm all over having Andrew treat him with so much tender care. With his last bit of energy, Luke grasped Andrew’s wrist from where he was still standing at the edge of the bed, tugging lightly as a wordless plea to come lie down next to him.

Luke smiled, sleepy and sated once Andrew complied, and then shifted over so they had equal space in the cramped twin bed.

Neither of them really minded sharing such a small place to sleep, not when it meant getting to hold each other even closer. So when Andrew shuffled in tight to wrap both arms around Luke’s front, Luke turned his head back against the pillow to kiss him. It felt like a dream to have Andrew snuggled in close with all their worries left behind.

It was almost too much happiness all at once. Luke basked in the peace of Andrew wrapped around him, savouring the sappy feeling that came with having the sweetest boyfriend in the world.

“Goodnight, ‘drew.” He slurred, already halfway to sleep speaking the words.

“Goodnight, sweetheart, sleep well.”
