Day 3: Jax/Tara "Trying to find each other in a crowd"
The lot of Teller-Morrow automotive is filled with the sounds of a raucous party when Tara pulls up and she mentally wonders why she is here. This really isn't her scene, but Jax wanted her to be here. He'd insisted she has to see what a biker party looks like.
So here she is, sixteen years old with a fake ID, telling her parents she went over to a friend's house to study so they won't know where she really is.
"Okay, act older," Tara mutters to herself as she steps out of her car.
The sound of the music inside the bar area is loud and demanding and the place smells of alcohol and other substances, and worse yet, she realizes she doesn't actually know where Jax is.
"Hey…" a drunken biker sidles up to Tara and she is immediately disgusted to the point that she almost outs herself as underaged.
Instead she just curtly responds, "Not interested," as she scans the crowd for Jax. Maybe getting some sort of drink will make everything less nerve wracking.
Tara makes her way to the bar and asks for a beer. The bartender looks her over suspiciously, but the fake ID seems to mollify him.
However, someone who doesn't seem to be mollified is the biker who had previously been tailing her and he comes at her again, drunkenly sloshing his own beer.
"I'm…not…interested!" Tara grits her teeth and tries to move away towards the door. She can tell Jax later about what happened.
Then suddenly, there is a blur in the dim bar light and somebody is yelling, "She said she's not interested!" before swinging at the drunken man.
The man drops like a sack of bricks, but then he comes up again with his nose bleeding and he looks angry.
"Oh shit! Run!" Jax grabs her hand and pulls her along with him as they both run through the crowd that is now watching them in confusion and concern. From what she understands, Jax seems to be the exception to the rule because he's the "biker prince", but no one under eighteen is supposed to be here, and she gets the impression that they now know she is underaged.
They make it outside and somehow Tara still has a hold of her beer, and at least the angry man seems lost in the crowd.
"I should probably leave," Tara suddenly feels awkward, however Jax is still pulling her towards somewhere. Soon they arrive at the ladder to the roof of the garage and Jax lets go of her hand long enough to instruct her that she needs to put her beer bottle in her pocket and climb.
Soon, she finds herself on the roof and Jax has followed behind her. "I like to come up here to think."
"Nobody else knows about it?" Tara asks, pausing to take a drink of her beer before deciding that she really doesn't like the taste of beer that much.
She must make a face, because Jax laughs. "You don't like the taste of beer?"
"I don't drink much," Tara admits. "Remember, I'm not a biker princess."
"Biker princess?" Jax snorts, apparently amused by the term. Yet his hand is now on her knee and Tara takes another sip of the beer since it is already in her hand.
She can't decide if it's the alcohol or Jax that makes her feel giddy.
