Wish You Were Gay

Summary:

Maddie thinks Buck is in love with Eddie, which he says he's not.

Notes:

Hey guys!!! This is one of my first (published) buddie fics on Ao3. I have another fic published, but it's just made up and nothing to do with a fandom. If you would like to go read that, there are some warnings you should see before reading. It's not that good, and neither is this one. As I said, it’s my first published one. So, there might be some mistakes, I’ll always take feedback.

Also, things are taken from the show and probably put out of place. So just take note of that!

Chapter Text

“I’m living in Eddie’s old house therefore; I must be in love with him?” Buck says.

“Are you?” Maddie asks.

“In love with Eddie?”

“I mean it wouldn’t be so crazy,” Maddie says

“Except that I’m not. As much as everyone seems to want me to be HOPELESSLY pining for my STRAIGHT best friend, it just isn’t like that.” Buck exclaims.

“I mean does just not having him in my life and in the field, leave a big hole? I mean yeah, it does, sure.”

“I mean plus, he’s in El Paso, I’m in Los Angles, it would be crazy it wouldn't even work out. He’s my best friend; he’s my straight best friend. That would be crazy.”

“Buck, all that I am hearing is you saying it would be crazy to date your best friend, not, that you’re not in love with him.” Maddie says, trying to egg him on.

“I’m NOT in love with him; I just miss him is all. Is that hard to believe?”

“No, no it’s not. I get it.” Maddie says.

"Plus, being in love with Eddie would be crazy, he’s like the straightest guy I know.”

“Yeah, you’re right, totally crazy.”

“Do you not believe me or something?”

“No no, I believe you, it’s just I believe you have some things you need to work out.”

“What? I don’t have anything I need to work out, I’m perfectly fine the way I am. I’m fine.”

“Okay I hear you, you’re fine.” Maddie says, still not believing him.

“I’m going to go call him.” Buck says immediately grabbing his phone.

“Eddie? Hah, and you say you’re not in love with him when your practically attached at the hip.” Maddie chuckles.

“That’s enough. I’m not in love with him! Plus, how could I be ‘attached at his hip’ if hes in a whole other state?” Buck says. “I’m leaving, bye, love you.”

“Love youuu.” Maddie waves bye

The phone rings

Eddie picks up

“Hey Eddie!” Buck says with a huge grin on his face. “How are you liking the new place, is Chris settling in all right?”

“Buck! Actually, Chris isn’t living in the house at the moment since I just got here. I wanted it to get fixed up and all moved in for him y’know? He’s still with my parents.” Eddie says, not as amused, but happy to see him.

“Oh, I see. Well, tell Chris I said hi and I miss him. Besides that, are you liking Texas so far?” Buck asks.

“Uh, more or less. I mean its home, but it doesn’t really feel like home. I think I just need some time to settle in and get used to it. It’s definently a huge different from the city to the country.”

“I get that.”

“I’ve lived in Texas practically all my life, I thought I would just get back to it right away. I think I miss Los Angles though, and all of you guys.”

“I miss- we miss you too, but you did it for a good cause.”

“Yeah, and I wouldn’t of chose differently. I needed to be here for Chris, I’ve felt like such a bad dad lately, I have been a bad dad.”

“Eddie, don’t say that. You’re a great dad, Chris loves you. He just needed time away, and you gave him that.”

“Thanks Buck, sorry, what were we talking about before? I don’t even remember I got so caught up in other things.” Eddie chuckles.

“I have no idea, oh! I thought of something though. Have you thought of any jobs?” Buck exclaims.

“Uh... right now I’m an uber driver...” Eddie says awkwardly.

“Uber driver? How do you go from super amazing firefighter to uber driver? That makes no sense.” Buck chuckles.

“Oh, shut up, I wasn’t even that good. *cough* *cough* way better than you though... Who said that.” Buck frowns and gives him a look.

“I’m just playing, but I’m working on it.” Eddie says.

“I know I was just joking; you’re probably a super amazing Uber driver too.” Buck makes fun of him again.

“Buck. Anyways, I got to go, I need to finish unpacking. It was nice catching up, call again tomorrowww? Or are you busy?”

“I’ll probably be free, if not, I'll be at work. Anyways bye.”

“Bye.”

Eddie hangs up.
