Chapter Text
Every morning is the exact same: Wake up, shower, brush teeth, skincare, get dressed, breakfast and protein shake then immediately to the gym.
A two hour work out and then Bakugou hits the showers and gets dressed for his shift. This is how life has been since he got accepted into Fatgums agency with Kirishima. They’ve been the infamous hero duo and Bakugou always ignores the pit he feels when he thinks about that title too much. He’s been climbing the ranks but now he’s chasing someone who stopped competing with him years ago.
Izuku and Katsuki don’t talk anymore. Nothing bad happened they both just got busy and then Izuku and Ochako got more official. So they naturally just lost touch. Katsuki has only two social media apps on his phone and neither have been opened since he saw the two celebrating four years of being together.
He remembers that night like it just happened. It was late and he had made the realization that he’s going to die alone. His sixth beer in hand, lazily scrolling as a sign of him throwing in the towel. He went on to the idiots account only to be reminded why he was even here in the first place.
A collage, Izukus personal account for his close friends and family only, pictures of them together happily. That wasn’t what got him though. A picture of Izuku, nothing revealing, in bed with Ochako but his eyes in the picture held the same look that the man had once reserved for Katsuki only.
That moment he realized he truly lost.
He used all three weeks of vacation that had built up and went far away from his home. He tried to get rid of the pit in his stomach with casual hero bar hookups and one night stands. Obviously nothing worked so when his time was up and he came back, he threw himself into his work more than before.
His spark was dimmed but he still showed up and did what he needed to do with little to no bite. His friends were concerned, still are, for months but eventually backed off.
Since then Katsuki Bakugou has worked every day, every other night, had two or more missions back to back per month and has more overtime than probably any hero in history. Fatgum had denied him any more extra shifts this month which is how he ended up covering Seros saturday shift with Kirishima.
“Ya know, nights where its quiet are like reminders of why I wanted to be a hero” Kirishima says quietly from where they’re perched on some roof.
Katsuki just gives him a side eye, “cheesy as fuck.”
“Oh cmon Bakubro! Have some happiness- some cheesiness if you will” Kiri says as he wraps an arm around his shoulders. Katsuki huffs but doesn’t shove him off like he used to back at UA.
“Whatevr’ just keep your eyes on look out ‘kay?” It’s more mumble and tight than demanding. He had lost his bite a year and a half ago so this was his new normal.
“What’s todays issue.. you’re less bark AND bite than usual” Kiri slides his arm off and looks at his friend concerned.
“Nothing’s my fucking problem shitty hair.” His words have zero hold on them and Kiri sighs like he’s figured it out.
They hold eye contact, Katsuki with an eyebrow raised in question and Kiri with apology laced through each crease in his eyebrows.
“Listen.. I know the whole Midoriya thing is always gonna be heavy okay-“ He starts and Katsuki rolls his eyes with a scoff.
“I’m not having this conversation right now hair for brains.” He looks away with a pang in his chest and a pit in his stomach that will never be filled.
“No, Kats we have to.” Kiri puts a hand on the blonds shoulder.
“We all assumed they would get married one day so now is the perfect time to-“ Kirishima looks out to the city view with a hand still on his shoulder when Katsuki whipped around and shoved his hand off.
“They what.” Katsuki interrupted him sharply.
“Y- oh god please tell me you looked at that damn groupchat..” Kirishima looked at him with the one emotion that Katsuki hated the most, pity.
“Of course I don’t fuck with that stupid fucking groupchat? And don’t look at me like that you asshole” Katsuki stood up as his chest heaved slightly.
His head spun. The man he has been in love with for years, who had been right behind him, chased after his every move had finally moved on. Now Katsuki was the one playing catch up.
“Kats I thought you knew and that’s why you’ve been more down that you already usually are! I swear I’m not- bro this is bad.. I’m sorry, Katsuki.” Kirishima stood up after him hands up in a false surrender.
Katsuki hardened his expression. His throat felt tight and burned with his eyes. He hadn’t felt this sort of hurt in a while but it was comforting all the same like a flame is to a moth.
“S’ fucking fine. I don’t give a shit what that ne- Midoriya and round cheeks do.” He took a step back and a deep breath.
“Bout fuckin time anyways.. c’mon we needa start back towards the agency.” And with that he removed himself from his emotions as best he could, walked towards the building edge and started his way down as quiet and quickly as his quirk allowed.
—
When he got home he closed his door with the kind of softness nobody would expect Katsuki Bakugou, King Explosion Murder, to have.
Back to the cool material and a choking sound from the emotions he simply couldn’t hold back anymore. His phone rang and he knew it was his idiots trying to get to him.
Stop the depression before it started.
He ignored it anyways and allowed himself to crumple to the ground, bag and belongings falling to the sides of him as he pulled his knees to his chest and cried right there.
Not like anybody was home to interrupt him, he was rarely here as it was. The empty coldness of his minimalism no longer gave him the comfort it once did.
He had moved from suite to apartment until he landed here, a couple blocks from his parents after his dad had a health scare. It was small and you would think it left less room for the emptiness that had attached itself to him.
That void was never going to leave, he knew because his therapist had told him so. He took medication for it and everything. The real sheet of approval was times like this when he truly just felt empty.
Depression was a bitch and the fact he could never get that stupid fucking voice to shut up about the one person who didn’t want him, didn’t help.
Hours later he picked himself up with a sigh, face still wet and jaw sore from how tight he had it clenched. He hung his bag where it went, shoes off and put away, keys in the bowl and phone on the kitchen counter.
It lit up with notifications but that was the last thing he cared about. If Katsuki didn’t need a phone, he simply wouldn’t have one.
He opened the fridge and grabbed a premade meal that had all his nutrients he needed, heated it up then grabbed a bottle of water and a beer.
He knew this wave of depression was coming, felt it in his bones but that bomb was the last push he needed to finally fall. No parachute and nobody to catch him before he fell too deep.
With a warm meal, he sat everything on the counter and sat at one of the stools. Deciding not to distance himself too bad right now.
He picked up his phone and sure enough when he scrolled back far enough, 35 messages from the “1A-GC” they rarely used a year after everybody settled into their jobs and lives.
Sure they tried to plan hang outs but Katsuki never went, couldn’t bring himself to. He opened the chat and it sent him to the top.
Izuku: Hey guys! Ochako and I have exciting news, we’re getting married! We wanted to let you guys all know before we went public with this. You all will receive your invites very soon. Thank you all for any support you have given us. Hope you all can make it <3 (Chako says hiiii)
Messages of happy congratulations and planning a hang out to celebrate were all that littered his screen after the announcement.
He exited that chat and texted Kirishima back saying he was fine. Not a lie but not the full truth. He forced himself to take a couple bites of his food even though he felt nauseous.
He opened his notifications again but one caught his attention the most. Some old chat app he had shared with Izuku and Izuku only. They’d go back and forth day and night after they became friends again but he thought he deleted that app after a year of silence from the other end.
MightyChat
AllMight4Evr: Hey Kachhan im hetting married
AllMight4Evr: i dont know if you want to come
AllMight4Evr: I want yoi to though.
AllMight4Evr: Come to my weddung.
AllMight4Evr: Please?
AllMight4Evr: i miss yio Katsuki alot
He didn’t even get a chance to finish reading the last bit before the wrecking sobs collapsed his chest. After that, he finished his food, put the water by his bedside table and chugged the beer.
Bitter and sickening but quick to comfort the pain he felt. Just as he set the bottle down, his phone rang and his heart stopped.
Incoming Call
Izuku
He stared at it and then scrambled to pick it up.
“Hello..?” Bakugou said it like he couldn’t believe what was happening.
A couple giggles came from the other end, “Kacchan? Whyre we whisperingg”
“Deku are you drunk?” Bakugous voice barely lifted from the shocked murmur. Of course he’d get a drunk call from the one person he wasn’t sure if he wanted to talk to right now.
“Hehe mayyybee- Kacchan you haaaave to come to my weddinnngggg” Like a video in slow motion, Izukus words stretch and stretch. Bakugous heart just gets crushed smaller and smaller.
“M-maybe Deku works really busy an-“ But the blonde doesn’t get a chance.
“Don’t pull that shit Katuski. Everryone else got time off okay? Do-“ It goes quiet for a second, “Do you hate me again?”
And that million dollar question just about kills Bakugou. Because he could never hate Izuku, never did hate Izuku.
His eyes filled with water again, “Fuck… No Izuku. I could never hate you. There’s just a lot going on right now, yeah?” With a deep shaky breath he composes himself.
“Kacchan.. I- can we keep a secret?” Izukus back to a breathless whisper and as terrible as Bakugou feels, it sends a small shiver down his spine.
“What is it Deku?” He sounds broken but right now Bakugou doesn’t care.
“You sound really hot when you cuss like that..”
Dead silence follows, shock, fear?
Because the man every ounce of Katsukis infatuation has gone to just said that, after asking him to go to his wedding.
“Izuku yo-“ he sighs heavy, “you dont know what you’re saying, you’re drunk and Uraraka is probably looking for you so just go a-“ Izuku interrupts him again.
“No I know what im saying! I am not that druunk. I jus had a feew and then some others and and I am fiine” Slurred and absolutely drenched in lies of sobriety, Izuku tried to convince himself? Bakugou?
And like salt in the wound Bakugou calls it off, “Izuku.. go drink some water, okay? I’ll see you at your wedding.” Defeated and head full.
“Nonono Kacchan is okay! Er i-it’s okay,” he corrects himself but he doesn’t get far before Katsuki hung up. After that, he called it a night and didn’t power his phone back on until the next week.
—
It’s been a month. The wedding was two days away which is how he ended up staying at Kirishima and Mina’s house, sleeping in their guest room.
Kirishima didn’t trust Katsuki alone after he powered his phone off for a week and essentially went ghost mode. Everyone is excited, it’s the buzz of the world right now.
Katsuki couldn’t really care.
He just wanted to go home. Not his house. Not his mothers. Just home.. wherever that was.
He stared at the ceiling for the sixth hour this night. It was 3:45am and he had to be up for the rehearsal in about 3-4 hours.
He turned onto his side and stared at the wall instead. Sleep has always been easy but recently it’s the last thing he can do.
He double checks his alarms and sets his phone back where it was charging, his fingers brushing the formal wedding invitation. White with a gold border, pink flowers with green vines littering the card and in the middle ‘Izuku and Ochako Midoriya invite you to their wedding’ blah blah blah.
Memories of all the times he thought Izuku wanted him back plague his heart. Once when they were studying and Izukus head laid in Bakugous lap while he read. He basically forced Bakugou to give him a head message. Or the numerous times when they’d spar and somehow end up in the most compromising positions.
Both startled, face flushed but Katsuki always jumped up before they could stare too long. Even the night of graduation. The night he had made it official with Uraraka.
They were drunk, maybe a little high, but they had broke off from the party. That sat against some random wall in a random hallways and just talked. About everything and nothing at all.
Katsuki brought up Izukus new relationship and the other man scrambled to get away from the topic. Stuttering messes of “oh yeah it just happened ya know?” And “who knows if well even like last that long”
The one that Bakugou could never get out of his mind was, “I just wanted to test something out and then it ended up like this. I know its bad but I was hoping someone would stop me”.
Not to mention that damn phone call. But none of that mattered now because times up, nothing happened and their wedding is in two days.
It’s bullshit and Katsuki has never thought about accepting Seros smoke offer more than literally ever. He might actually today is Sero asks. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s partaken but it’s extremely rare that he does anything but a few drinks.
He closes his eyes and ignores the burn from them being open for so long and lets sleep finally take over. That night he dreams of green hair tickling his neck and the weigh of a head on his chest.
It’s the most comforting feeling he’s had in years but when he wakes up, the dream slips from him and the feeling of dread return.
—
The rehearsal started off fine, everybody said their greetings and he tried his best to act like he wanted to be there.
Sero had decided to stick to his side since Todoroki was catching up with the bride and groom. Sero and Kirishima were the only ones who knew about how Bakugou felt.
Champagne was being passed out every so often and Bakugou had let the buzz satisfy the linger of pain within him. Ignoring it because he would never be the one to fuck up somebody’s perfect day.
He went where the coordinator told him to go, kept to himself and just went with the flow. If he got any weird looks then they didn’t register enough for him to care. Nobody commented on how mellow the explosive man they once knew, was now.
Sure enough, when Sero jokingly had suggested joining him in his smoke break he walked ahead of the man while the other stood shocked before following.
“That bad?” Sero says, one hand stuffed into his flowy brown pants and a blunt pinched between his fingers in the other.
Bakugou scoffs and looks in front of him, distant. “Yeah, you try loving somebody so much that your symptoms of depression, you didn’t even know you had, come out every time you realize they will never- and I mean never love you back.” He swallows hard knowing that him and Sero haven’t exactly gone into details about it all.
“Try loving somebody who you thought might like you back, then they get married and plead with you to go to their wedding..” Bakugous voice is laced with despair. “Nothing like unrequited love, right?”
Sero sighs and passes the blunt over, “Yeah okay.. that’s pretty bad..”
Katsuki inhales as he’s seen Sero do and holds it. Until his eyes and throat burn. Until his body panics at the loss of oxygen. He breaths out and clears his throat before doing it two more times.
If he’s surrounded by opportunities to say “fuck it” and get fucked up without causing trouble, why not? No paparazzi, no work tomorrow. Not a single obligation or need to care too much about what he does.
When he hands it back to Sero he can tell the man beside him is staring. Only Kirishima has truly seen the extent of his depressive moods. The days when he had to force the blonde to not only take a shower but eat, brush his teeth and plead to just use the bathroom.
He has depression for other reasons that his therapist has gone over but nothing seems to make it worse than just wanting to feel wanted.
They stay outside until Todoroki pokes his head outside and gives a small wave, “Izuku was looking for you two. Specially Katsuki.” Seros face lights up just the slightest and he walks to the door. Todoroki steps outside and embraces his man.
“Okay baby, we’ll be there ina sec yeah?” Sero squeeze Todoroki and mutters into his hair. Bakugou just stands there, dusting off his pants.
Nobody is dressed to the nines just yet, Sero in a white button up thats as flowy as his pants and sandals. Todoroki in a polo and slacks because well, that’s just Todoroki.
Bakugou has a dark short sleeve on and gray cargo pants on with a simple black and white hightop converse. Half and Half goes back inside and Sero stands in front of him.
“Listen., this isn’t gonna be easy but you and Midobro have been friends for years. It was rough but your relationship with him has never been easy. He’s gonna be stoked that you even showed up today, let alone came period.” He puts a steadying hand on the others shoulder.
“We’re here for you just, if you need an escape find someone, we will help you okay?” He stares intensely into red and Bakugou can tell he’s pleading that his message gets into his friends thick skull.
“Yeah yeah you fuckin’ sap. I’ll be fine.” Bakugou starts towards the door, “Lets go before they call a search party.” And holds the door for the both of them.
—
As soon as they walk in Sero is dragged away and green eyes burn through red.
“H-hi Kacchan! Thanks for coming.. Iuh really appreciate it” His smile barely reaches his eyes but Katsuki just lets his stomach churn and a smile show.
“Yeah n.. Izuku, don’t mention it…” Bakugous smile fades the tiniest, “jus’ wanna see you happy.” He swallows hard and then for the only reason he can think as hope, stares hard into green eyes. Searching for something.
He can’t look long before the threat of tears claws at his eyes. Katsuki lays a gentle hand on the small mans arm before walking away.
The rest of the night it’s longing glances and shared smiles that never seem positive. To say the least, Bakugou is drained and when he leaves with Kiri and Mina he has a goodie bag from Sero.
The car ride is quiet and the blonde lays his head on the window, watching cars with people going wherever they’re going. Maybe in another lifetime or timeline they’re something more.
They live happily in a slightly bigger apartment, his stuff is intertwined with Bakugous. His shoes by the door, All Might shit everywhere and constantly leaving messed that Bakugou gets onto him about.
But that’s not reality and tomorrow Izuku will be getting married to someone who treats him how he deserves to be treated.
—
The morning moves slow. Bakugou barely slept last night and theres no doubt his face is slightly puffy from his crying the previous night as well. Each step he makes is lethargic but he gets ready quickly and theyre out the door before you know it.
Mina is in a silky dusty rose bridesmaid dress and both Bakugou and Kirishima are in black suits. The only difference between them is Kirishimas tie matches Mina.
Katsuki is tired. He’s barely able to hold up the facade he’s had up this entire week. He feels around his pockets for Seros goodie bag. He pulls it out and rummages quietly.
Before they left yesterday the tall man had pulled him aside and put the little baggie in his hand with a smile that reeked of pity.
Bakugou took it anyways and just held on to it. Not that it’s actually happening though, he’s gonna need something to keep him sane.
Weed mellows him out, calms him down and all around keeps him from being so damn tense all the time. So he picks up one of the mini bags of candy, obviously infused and takes the half of the little package.
Saving the other half just incase.
When Kirishima pulls up Mina runs out with a goodbye kiss because ‘bridesmaid duties’. Then like pulling teeth Kirishima starts turning around.
“Nope, not happening.” Katsuki says immediately and yanks the door open.
Kirishima scrambles to follow him, “Bakubro wait-“
Katsuki stands by the trunk of the car with his back to his friend. “I don’t need this damn talk. I will be fine. I was able to deal with this shit before yeah?”
“But- listen just speak up if you need to leave I wouldn’t min-“ Kirishima walks close trying to comfort his best friend.
“No shitty hair. Just because I can’t handle this shit doesn’t mean I’m gonna sit there a fuck up everybody else’s night.” Katsuki doesn’t turn around but his hand ball up into shaky fists at his sides.
“If Izuku is happy.. who the fuck am I to mess that up?” It’s soft and quiet, something Bakugou seems to own these days.
“Just c’mon, everybody else is probably waiting n’ shit..” Bakugou shoves his hands in his pockets and walks away slowly.
The moment they walk inside, chaos ensues. People are scrambling around, setting up chair and boards. Someone’s pinning flowy white laces above arches and organizing flowers at tables.
Sero spots them and jogs up to them. “Have you guys seen Ochako?”
The two men look at each other. Then back at Sero panicked.
“The fuck do you mean have we seen Ochako?” Bakugou says sternly.
“She- god the bridesmaids went to go help her finish up because she told them to wait until later to come by but when Mina went to go check on her the room was empty and nobody’s seen her..” Sero runs a stressed hand through his hair.
“What about Midobro? D-does he know?” Kirishima looks equally as stessed.
“Thats the thing, they obviously haven’t seen each other so no but Todoroki told me they had a fight last night..” Sero walks closer so he can drop the news quieter incase of prying ears.
“So the bride ran away and the groom knows jack shit?” Katsuki sums up and Sero nods.
“Did Todoroki say why they fought?” Kirishima asks with a pained expression.
Sero looks at Kirishima then anxiously scrunches up his face before sighing, “Kats dude why don’t you go check on Izuku.. you know how he gets when he thinks too much.”
That immediately sets him on edge, “The fuck why cant you tell me why they were fighting?”
“Just- he asked for you anyways, that’s why I came over here” Sero says and directs him away.
Confused, anxious and frustrated, Katsuki walks away. Hands in his pockets and a deep scowl on his face.
When he reaches Izukus room, he waits with his hand up to knock for a solid 20 minutes. Grumbling to himself about Tape Face and Shitty hair.
Just as he finally decides to knock the door swings open.
“Icy hot.”
“Bakugou.”
The blonde puts his hand down and back into his pocket, staring down the stoic man in front of him. Heterochromia eyes stare back until Todoroki opens his mouth.
“Izuku wants to talk to you. I will leave and let you two talk.” It’s calm but Bakugou can tell something’s wrong.
He nods and moves into the room, shutting the door behind him. Izukus pacing at the other side of the room, biting his nails and muttering a million miles an hour.
He doesn’t notice that the door opened, closed or that Todoroki, one of his best men, has been replaced by probably the last person he wants to see.
Bakugou waits by the door before taking one step. The second he moves Izuku stops and looks up frantically.
“Jesus christ this is so bad and now everything is all fucked up and I don’t even know what to do! I didn’t think it mattered that much because it’s been five fucking years but colour me fucking stupid Kacchan. I fucked it all up. It’s all my fault and-“ Wide green eyes fill with tears as he speaks before he collapses onto a chair, head in hands.
It’s silent until the room is interrupted with a choked sob. That sets Bakugou into motion. He walks quickly over to his best friend.
“Hey, Deku what happened? I’m sure everything’s fine” His voice is smooth and soft. Meant to keep Izuku calm and forget about the tightness in his own chest.
“Fuck Kacchan.. I messed it up.” Izuku says wetly. A sharp sniffle and another sob break any tension between them.
Katsuki kneels in front of him and lays a rough hand on his shoulder. “I’m sure this is just a quick blip.. Uraraka probably forgot somethin’ and jus’ didn’t tell anyone where she went..” It sounds like a lie because it probably is. Bakugou has no clue what happened and he’s always sucked at comforting people.
“No Kacchan.. I fucked up bad.” Izuku looks up at him, wobbly lip, snotty nose and red eyes.
“How? Was it that fight I heard about? Ya know Auntie and Uncle fight like a bitch.. but they still love each other” Bakugou tries but it only seems to make the greenete sob harder.
“She knows about the phone call.. a-and Todoroki told me what you said yesterday.” Izukus voice is barely a whisper and the words shock Bakugou so much he physically flinches.
“I- we tried to keep it together but she insists I don’t love her as much as I love you Kacchan. We fought last night and she said that if I couldn’t tell her to her face that I didn’t love you anymore that we were d-done-“ Izuku coughs on his tears.
Bakugou is shell shocked and slowly takes his hand off of Izuku.
“I thought we worked it out- i.. Katsuki i’m so sorry. I am sosososososo-“ He’s cut off by his own sobs again.
“Izuku. What?” Bakugou finally speaks up. He stands slowly and Izuku shrinks in on himself more.
“I was so scared to like you.. that if I wanted anything more than whatever the fuck fragile friendship we had that I would lose you so I gave up- I gave it all up.” Izuku looks like a mad man, face red and sobbing, hair sticking up every which way halfway in a suit and his tie hanging around his neck.
“I’ve loved you for so long and I thought I could just ignore it but.. after what Todoroki told me you said something snapped and I got angry and then we fought and-” Izuku sobs again and puts his head back in his hands.
“If you hadn’t distanced yourself from me- if it didnt feel like you gave up.. I-“ He’s cut off stands up obviously frustrated.
“If you had told me right now ‘Dont marry her’ I would’ve run away. If you had just told me what you w-wanted I would’ve been so far from where I am now! I can’t even be mad because I was a bitch and I ran. I ran from you because I was scared but I never got you out of my head.”
The room was tense, Bakugous anger at Izuku reaching its peak. The edibles he took churning in his empty stomach and having the opposite effect.
“How the absolute fuck is this my fault? How the fuck are you getting angry, at me?” Katsuki said soft but stern.
“I don’t know!” Izuku scream throwing his arms out to his sides.
“I wanted to not love you so fucking bad that I ran away as far as I could, distracted myself to the furthest I could, broke another persons heart ALL BECAUSE I couldn’t handle loving you.” He laughs to himself before covering his mouth as another sob attacks him.
“I waited, years Izuku. I waited so fucking long to hear you say this shit. Did you know that?” Now Katsuki was crying.
“I- I ran myself to the fucking ground because I thought there was no way somebody like you could ever love me. I fucked so many people to get you out of my fucking head but you decided to wait until your fucking wedding day to declare your love?” Katsuki scoffed and ran a hand through his hair.
He didn’t mean to but his frustration was over the edge, “You fucked up big time, do you even know where Uraraka is? If she’s okay? She spent five fucking years with your dumbass and you ask her to marry you just to leave her ass at the fucking alter?” He screamed, a true show of so much emotion he’s been bottling for years.
“You’re the one who gave the fuck up. I tried to texted you, call you- I even tried to catch you at group hangouts but you always made an excuse! So don’t pin this shit on me.” He was stern. He was upset with himself because the relief he felt when Izuku said what he said, but at the same time Uraraka had been someone he’d confined in many time before.
This whole situation was messy and obviously they were getting nowhere so Bakugou made up his mind.
“I- I can’t with you right now. I’m going to find Uraraka, i’m going to make sure she’s okay and we will handle this shit later.” Bakugous voice broke many times but he ignored it and tried to ignore the way his stomach twisted looking at the broken man in front of him.
He didn’t wait for a response, he left the room borrowed Kirishimas car and drove around looking for the runaway bride.
—
When he found her, she was at a secluded park lake she had found him once.
“Can I join you?” He asked gruffly.
She doesn’t say anything, just a sombr nod of approval.
He sits down next to her, she never put her dress on so they look a bit silly next to each other. She has her pajamas still on, black short and a pink graphic t-shirt while Bakugou sits in his suit.
“He told me what happened, I’m sorry Uraraka.” Bakugou says. Not like it hurts but with truth because he is sorry. She is a very sweet girl and she’s been there for him a lot especially once he realized he needed to turn his attitude around back at UA.
“Yeah.. well, I can’t say that i’m too surprised. Just wish he didn’t ask me to marry him.” She wipes a stray tear away and sighs.
She looks over at him, “You love him?”
He looks pained, “Yeah.. but I never wanted this” theres no lie in his face or voice.
They stare at each other for a second before Uraraka breaks down. She tackles him into a hug and he freezes up for a second.
After the shock fades he feels himself get misty eyed and hugs her back, not sure if to comfort himself, her or both of them.
They stay like that until they get quiet and Uraraka starts giggling to herself, “ To think the Bakugou Katsuki would be comforting me..” she sits back and gives him a wobbly smile.
“Thanks Bakugou” He looked at her and just nodded.
“And.., I’m not hurt if you guys decide to get together or anything. I realized somethings had stuff of my own, so it was a lose-lose either way for the both of us” She chuckled a little at that and Bakugou smiled with her.
“Just don’t punish him for what he did, okay? He was confused and I just so happened to get caught in the crossfire.. he got caught up in my crossfire too” She rubbed her hands over her face.
“What does that mean?” Bakugou asked getting right to the point.
“I had an old friend come back into my life and realized that while I love Izuku.. it’s just not the right kind of love” She scratched the back of her neck guiltily.
They sat there just discussing everything, what happened, what was going to happen and when she felt ready to leave they went back to the venue.
As soon as they got back, Izuku and Ochako talked. Everyone else sat at the empty tables, snacking on the finger food that was set out. Everyone knew the wedding was off but nobody said anything.
Ochako walked into the room with Izuku following behind her and stopped in the doorway, “Obviously the wedding is off, me and Izuku aren’t together anymore and I’m inviting all the bridesmaids to what was meant to be our honeymoon. Uhh.. just text me if you wanna go I guess”
And with that she left to go collect her things. Izuku watched her walk off before turning to say his piece.
“Ochako basically said everything.., we’re on good terms just realized somethings had to change. Thank you all for being here and I’m sorry for how it all turned out.” He turned around before looking back over his shoulder.
“The venue and food a stuff will be here for the rest of the night so, feel free to stay but we’reuh both gonna.. go.” Then walked out to go his own way too.
—
Katsuki stood in front of Izukus door once more but this time he heard him moving around. He opened the door and immediately Izuku turned around.
“Hey.”
“H-hi..”
