What if izuku midorya had the death note
Izuku was sitting in class waiting for the teacher to come in. He stared out the window watching as the birds flew by while he wished for that kind of freedom he saw something seemingly fall out of the sky. The teacher walked in with a stack of papers
“You are all 3rd years now so it’s time to start thinking about what you want to do with your life.” He looked out over the class before tossing the papers into the air “oh who am I kidding you all want to go to the hero track anyway.”
Everyone started using their quirks then an annoyed sounding blonde boy cuts in “hey teach don’t lump me in with these extras they’ll be lucky enough to get stuck as a sidekick for some D lister”
“Oh Bakugo you are aiming for UA” everyone else started yelling at him but the blonde didn’t care
“That’s right I’ll become the best hero even better then all might himself and it all starts with UA high”
The teacher cut him off “midorya your aiming for UA too”
Izuku turned his head from where it was previously looking out the window in time to see the hands on his desk that soon exploded, sending him flying backwards into the wall with a loud crack. Bakugo was standing over him when the teacher once again interrupted “Bakugo the bell is about to ring” with that the bell rings and everyone basically sprint out of the room (even the teacher) ‘that cowered’ izuku thought bitterly as he packed up his stuff.
He wasn’t fast enough because Bakugo and his cronies grab his bag and take his notebook. “What’s this your diary” one of the cronies says before tossing it to Bakugo who explodes it and throws it out the window.
Izuku was about to go grab it when he felt a hot searing pain on his shoulder from the explosion the blonde set off.
Bakugo turned to leave but not before dealing the final blow “if you really want a quirk so bad there might be another way just pray you’ll be born with a quirk in your next life and take a swan dive off the roof of the building”
After that they left and Izuku went outside to find his notebook ‘ that idiot you can’t go around telling people to kill themselves. What if I really would have jumped, what would he do then?’ He thought bitterly as he grabbed his waterlogged notebook. That’s when he thought back to the weird item he saw fall from the sky earlier. He looked over across the field and sure enough there it was he walked closer and saw it was a simple black notebook with the words death note on it. ‘Hmmm wonder what this is?’ He thought as he opened the book there was pages of rules before it opened to blank paper he read the first one
‘The human whose name is written in this note shall die’
‘What a load of crap’ he thought but the more curious side of him asked ‘but what if it’s real’.
So he grabbed it and stuffed it in his backpack started for his home.
He was walking through an underpass when he heard something coming from the pothole behind him. Izuku turned around to see the pothole explode up and out came a monster made of sludge.
“A medium sized skin suit perfect for my getaway hold still kid” the monster gargles out
He is suddenly engulfed in the sludge as it it trying to shove itself down izuku s throat, he’s about to black out when he hears “WORRY NOT CITIZEN BECAUSE I AM HERE” then he promptly blacks out.
Izuku woke up to a large hand smacking him in the face he looks up to see the hulking figure of all might standing over him. He quickly sits up and looks for the death note ‘he can’t see that even if it is a joke he can still arrest me” he thought
“DONT WORRY YOUNG MAN I ALREADY SIGNED YOUR NOTEBOOK” he said as he put the bottles containing the sludge in his pockets
Izuku was now panicking even more. His worries were quickly quelled as he saw the giant all might signature on his hero analysis for the future notebook. All might was preparing to jump away when he remembered he had something’s wrong to ask his personal hero so in a moment of pure panic he jumped onto all mights leg.
“HEY I LOVE MY FANS BUT THIS IS TOO MUCH GET OFF” all might yells
“I can’t I’ll die” he yelled back
“OH YEAH HOLD ON I WILL LAND”
They land on a roof and while izuku was catching his breath all might disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
“That was very stupid young man you must learn some boundaries” all might scolded he started to walk away until Izuku spoke up
“Wait at least answer my question please it’s really important” all might nodded so he went on “do you think a quirkless person could become a hero? I’ve always wanted to save people just like you with a smile but everyone always says it’s just a pipe dream so would it be possible” he asked
“No” he said and that one word broke izuku so much “I don’t believe a quirkless could become a hero there are just some villains that can’t be beaten without powers it’s not bad to dream just make sure your dreams are realistic” with that all might left the rooftop they had landed on leaving izuku and his crushed dream behind.
He didn’t know how long he sat on that roof before he was drawn out of his mind by the sound of explosions. He got out of the building in a haze. He didn't realize he was walking until he made it to where the explosions were coming from. And there he saw kacch-Bakugo was engulfed in the sludge that attacked him before ‘wait I thought all might captured him- oh no he must have gotten out when I jumped on him this is all my fault’ he thought and before he could think he ran towards the villain and swung his backpack at its eyes.
He used the time that gave him to pull Bakugo out of the villain’s grasp. They both landed on the ground hard and the sludge was about to grab them both when…
“DETROIT SMASH” all might comes in and smashes the slime to pieces. The punch was so hard the clear sky grew cloudy and it soon started to rain.
“That was very stupid young man you shouldn’t of done that” the hero’s were scolding him while on the other side the others were praising Bakugos bravery.
SNAP
This was it
Something in izuku just snapped. He was done trying to be a hero
Izuku walked away from the hero’s starting for his home when he remembered the death note in his backpack ‘why not test it out’ he grabbed his phone and looked at a live news feed.
There was a villain holding a preschool hostage he wrote the name of the criminal Sasaki Aishi but didn’t put anything down for the cause that meant he would die of a heart attack in 40 seconds ‘now all we have to do is wait.
Each second that went by he got more and more anxious for the impending doom or lack there of.
But as promised 40 seconds later the criminal died of a heart attack
‘Oh my god I killed him, I actually took a human life sure he was a bad person but he was still human’ he thought sporadically
But then he thought back to the villain attack he saw earlier that day when the new hero mount lady swooped in at the last minute to steal the spotlight and later the second sludge monster the hero stood around and did nothing most hero’s did it for the glory and that’s not right but the main issue in the world was the bad people doing these awful things in the first place.
So for the world to be better they would need to be purged. And with this notebook he would be the one to do it.

When Izuku got to the apartment (it was never a home) it was quiet and there was a lot of stuff missing from the place, mostly Inkos stuff. He looked in the kitchen and saw a small yellow sticky note in her handwriting and it said…
Dear Izuku
By now you could probably guess that I have left it’s just been so hard on me since your diagnosis and I just couldn’t take it anymore
Signed Inko Midorya
Izuku read the note once, twice and by the third he felt tears streaming down his face. Signed Inko Midorya not mom, Inko to her he stopped being her son the day of the diagnosis and this just solidifys what he already knew to be true. But after he thought about it for a but it really made his life a little easier.
He has seen the statistics for the quirkless and they weren’t pretty, they usually commit suicide by age 14-18 though its sad he knew he could use it to his advantage if he was going to be using the death note to make the world better he couldnt get caught so he needed an obvious death that wont be investigated very closely. He walked to his room to start planning. Once he closed the door he immediately felt another presence there with him, he slowly turned around and came face to face with a very tall creature with black hair that stood up, the creature had an all black outfit, grey skin, long claws, sharp teeth and piercing red eyes that were similar to ka-bakugos. After that description he was convinced that falling flat on his ass was a logical response.
“Woah kid calm down i dont need my entertainment dying on me this quick ive baraly had any fun yet”
“Wh-what are you” he asked
“I'm a shinigami, a god of death, the name's Ryuk.” Ryuk introduced himself
“Shinigami are real, I thought they were just legends, but umm, what are you doing here?” Izuku said in awe and curiosity
“Besides the initial shock, are you really not scared of me?” he asked
“I mean, I was scared at first, but the curiosity won in the end, so why are you here?” Izuku said unfazed
“You happen to be in possession of my death note.”
“Oh, I'm sorry, I'll give it back.”
no, after someone on earth touches it, it becomes theirs,” Ryuk explained
“So why is it on earth?”
“Well,l I got bored, so I dropped it to see what would happen, and you happened to pick it up.”
Izuku decided to continue with what he was originally doing, but a question popped into his head: “Can other people see you?” he asked
“Huh”
The shinigami seemed to be confused by the question, so he elaborated, “I'm guessing because you were bored and just want to see the chaos this causes, that you will be sticking around, so can others see you?”
“Oh yeah, humans can only see me if they touch my deathnote ”
So that added another step to izukus plan he couldn’t let anyone touch the death note.
“So what’s your plan kid entertain me” ryuk asked
The thing was that izuku actually thought this through and he had a plan that was technically already in motion. You see izuku was already selling his analysis to hero’s under the alias Vex something vague so no one will figure out his identity. So he had a source of income (good analysis is worth a lot and he had been doing this since he was 12) next he planned to fake his death he already had the note written up so that takes care of that finally he made himself a fake id. Everything was ready.
Izuku grabbed his backpack,some clothes, his analysis notebooks, his extra pair of shoes and all of the money he made.
“So kid are you ready to put this plan into motion” izuku nodded as he snapped his phone and laptop in half and picked up his bag and left his apartment for the last time. He walked to the edge of town until he found an abandoned apartment building he used his building skills to fix the electricity and water flow in the building. He waited until it got dark before he walked to the nearest bridge and grabbed his note and stapled it to the wood of the bridge. He looked around and saw some other people walking around and realised he would have to actually jump in order to not get caught. And Ryuk seemed to come to the same conclusion
“Looks like your gonna have to jump it” ryuk said
‘Its for the good of the world’ he thought as he took off his shoes and climbed up onto the top of the bridge. He could feel the eyes on him as he felt himself lean forward until his sock covered feet left the splintering wood of the bridge and soon he was engulfed in the cold water of the lake he waited of a moment before coming close to the surface without breaking through to the top.
He saw the people from before looking over the side probably looking for his body too bad they wont find anything he swam under the bridge to catch his breath before diving back down to the furthest part of the lake before getting the fuck out of there and back to the apartment he was going to sleep for now so he could wait and see if his plan would work tomorrow.“
