When Did Dipper Get So Hot?

Summary:

Songfic based on "When Did You Get Hot?" by Sabrina Carpenter, in which Pacifica sees Dipper after a few summers of barely seeing him and... he's different.

Notes:

I wrote a different SC Songfic a year ago when SnS came out, guess this is in my brand. Also, I wrote half of this at work on a public computer, so, just wanted to make it known that I have no shame.

Work Text:

It had been a few years since Weirdmaggedon, and Pacifica had been spending time working at Greasy’s diner, not wanting to associate with her family. She had spent most of her summers working this job, having almost no free time as compared to before. She had barely even hung out with her friends, and had seen townspeople only in passing. Candy and Grenda, she had actually become closer with, but during the summer she had barely any time for anyone due to work.

That included the Pines’. She saw them dining every summer, but didn’t even get the chance to say hello for more than a second. That’s how busy she was.

This summer, she actually had more time. She was working, but it was a fairly slow day.

Candy, Grenda, Mabel, and a… mystery man walked in. Pacifica couldn’t take her eyes off him. Who was he and why had she never seen him before? However, he did look vaguely familiar.

“Pacifica!” Mabel waved over. “Hey!” The four of them all waved, including the man. Did she know him? What was going on?

“Hey, guys!” Pacifica smiled. “I can take your orders. What can I get you guys to drink?”

“I’ll just have a water.” Candy smiled softly.

“I think I’ll do a diet coke.” Grenda answered.

“I’ll do a strawberry milkshake.” Mabel grinned. “Dipper, what about you?” She looked at the man at the table.

No. Way.

That was Dipper?

When did he get hot?

“I’ll just have a coffee.” He responded.

Pacifica just smiled awkwardly and nodded before scurrying away to the kitchen to grab their drinks.

She couldn’t believe that was Dipper. Did he always look like that? No. She remembered Dipper being a scrawny, no sense of style dork. He certainly did not have a chiseled jawline before. Or hair in a good hairstyle. Or, and not to be rude, he certainly stank of body odor last time she had talked to him.

Pacifica finished filling Grenda and Candy’s drinks, and ran to the coffee pot in the kitchen to pour Dipper’s.

She looked out the kitchen window and into the dining room at him. She honestly couldn’t look away. It had been a while since there had been a guy she was interested in in this stupid town. Gravity Falls wasn’t exactly full of cute guys.

She hadn’t been looking, and felt the coffee pour onto her hand as she had accidentally been overpouring it. “Ow!” She hissed, backing away. She sighed, filling it up again before blending Mabel’s shake and bringing everything to their table.

“Were you okay? It sounded like you hurt yourself in the kitchen.” Dipper asked as Pacifica set their drinks down in front of them.

“You’re fine-- I’M FINE!” She laughed a little too loudly to be considered normal, getting an eyebrow raise from Dipper. “I spilled hot coffee on my hand.”

“Ouch.” Candy laughed.

“Hey. Paz, when do you get off work today?” Mabel asked. “You should stop by, we’re having a sleepover! We’re gonna watch movies, make cookies, play games, tell secrets…” She grinned widely.

Pacifica looked at the time on her phone. “Actually, I get off in a couple hours. I can stop by. Maybe sleep over, if I’m welcome. I work at noon tomorrow, though.” Her eyes darted to Dipper for less than a second, then back to Mabel. She cursed herself in her head for being obvious about the way she couldn’t keep her eyes off him.

Mabel clapped her hands together. “Great! Dipper can drive you.”

Pacifica widened her eyes. “You have your license?” He was 16? She could have sworn they were 15 like her.

Dipper shook his head. “Permit. Stan or Ford would have to be in the car, but I’ll drive you, sure.”

Pacifica laughed, “Alright, sounds perfect.”

“I have a car back home waiting for me. Saved it up myself.” Dipper grinned.

“Amazing.” Pacifica stared at him for a couple awkward seconds too long.

She snapped out of it, quickly put in their orders, and went back into the kitchen. What was wrong with her? Being this flustered was not in her nature.

-

“Am I crazy, or could Pacifica not take her eyes off bro-bro?” Mabel nudged Dipper slightly, getting an eye roll.

“Pacifica Northwest could not give a damn about me. She just hasn’t seen any of us in a while.”

“While I agree it’s been a while since we’ve seen Pacifica, she seemed quite fixated on you, Dipper.” Candy said.

Dipper shrugged, “Whatever. I doubt it means anything.”

-

After Pacifica finished her cut work and was good to go. She stopped home quickly to pack an overnight bag and got a ride from her chauffeur.

She knocked on the door of the mystery shack. The door swung open and she was face to face with Dipper. “Hey.” He smiled lightly. Pacifica could feel her heart pounding in her chest. “They’re playing twister right now in the living room.”

He let her in, and low and behold, they were in fact playing twister. Grenda was sitting watching, being the one to announce the color and body part, and Mabel and Candy were tangled.

“Right hand, red!” Grenda announced. Pacifica watched as Candy teetered to try to twist her arm to reach the red dot, but she fell.

“YES! I reign victorious!” Mabel yelled, standing up.

“Hey guys!” Pacifica made herself part of the room. All the girls looked at her.

“Hey, Pacifica!” Grenda smiled. “We were just about to watch a movie. I’ve been trying to get them to watch Hercules.”

“Hercules?” Dipper piped in from the kitchen. He walked back into the room. “I love that movie!”

They put on the movie. Pacifica sat on the couch, Grenda sat at the table, and Candy and Mabel laid slumber-party style on the carpet.

Suddenly, Pacifica felt someone scoot in next to her. “Mind if I sit here?” Dipper asked.

It was like he was trying to embarrass her.

“Not at all.”

They watched the movie in silence, with occasional talking. When it got to the first time Hercules lifted the pillars, Dipper whispered to Pacifica. “My toxic trait is I feel like I could lift that.”

Pacifica looked at him, imagining him doing so. Thank God it was darker in the room now, because she could feel herself start to blush, and she didn’t need him to see that. “Oh yeah? What about that car you claim to have? Could you lift that?”

“Absolutely.” Dipper grinned confidently, flexing almost sarcastically. Pacifica blushed, realizing that he had actually put on a bit of muscle.
Jesus, she was falling hard.

The rest of the movie, she and Dipper bantered and talked.

-

Mabel turned to Candy, nudging her to look at Pacifica and Dipper. They truly were in their own little world.

“Are they… flirting?” Mabel whispered, stars in her eyes.

“It looks like it.” Candy laughed.

They weren’t even watching the movie anymore, they were just talking.

“I knew he had a thing for her!” Mabel grinned.

“I didn’t know she had a thing for him.” Grenda butted in.

“Oh, we are absolutely asking her about that. That’s for the ‘telling secrets’ part of the night.” Mabel schemed, referencing what she had said about the sleepover back in the diner.

-

They had retired to Mabel and Dipper’s bedroom, Dipper sleeping in the living room for the night, and Mabel was ready to bombard poor Pacifica with millions of questions.

“So, Pacifica…” She shut the door, “When did you start having a thing for my brother?”

Pacifica’s stomach dropped. “I do not!”

“Oh, please! You haven’t stopped looking at him since the diner! You were flirting the entire movie!” Mabel laughed.

Pacifica bit her lip, “Is it seriously that obvious?”

“Yes.” Candy, Mabel, and Grenda say in unison.

Pacifica groaned, “When did he get so hot?”

Candy laughed. “I feel like I’ve always thought that he was attractive.”

“Okay, I can admit, I didn’t see the vision, but now I do. Wow.” Pacifica blushed a little, feeling weird being so vulnerable.

Maybe crushing on Dipper Pines wouldn’t be so bad.
-
“Pacifica! Are you ready? Stan and I’ll be in the car!” Dipper yelled up the stairs. Pacifica came rushing down.

The car ride was silent, with small talk here and there from Stan. They arrived at the diner.

“Alright, I gotta go inside and get a pancake or two.” Stan grunted, getting out of the passenger seat and walking into the diner before Pacifica could even unbuckle her seatbelt.

“See you around, Paz.” Dipper smiled at her, waving a goodbye as Pacifica got out of the car in pursuit.

“Wait--” Pacifica walked over to the driver’s door, where Dipper had already had the window down. She took her notepad out of her server’s apron, and scribbled her number on it, shoving it in Dipper’s hand. “Call me.” She smirked, and with that, she walked into the diner, leaving a shocked Dipper staring at a piece of paper with Pacifica Northwest’s number on it.

Stan got back in the car with a to-go box of pancakes. “Whatcha got there?” He asked.

Dipper’s eyes widened. “I think Pacifica Northwest just asked me out.”
