A Night to Remember

Summary:

“Dear, dear Doctor.” Aventurine laughed quietly, twisting the cap of the bottle. “It doesn’t matter what answer I have. One, you won’t remember any of this in the morning. And two, I don’t think you have any idea what you’re saying, but I’m a hundred percent certain you truly don’t think of me like th—”
“I do,” Ratio cut him off. “I do.”

Aventurine gets a call to pick up a drunk Dr. Ratio from a work dinner.

Notes:

This is a top! Dr. Ratio/ bottom! Aventurine dynamic!

Behold, a self-indulgent smut piece where Aventurine has to pick up a drunk Dr. Ratio and take care of him! Now, add on some unrequited feelings, them (or mostly Aventurine) being bad at feelings, a little bit of Aventurine being a smidge of a devious prick to the sopping wet cat/dog drunk Ratio for a good bit, Ratio begging here and there, and then some overstimulation, multiple orgasms, and more feelings! Kind of...

Anyways, hope you enjoy this!

Work Text:

[I shivered beneath you]

This was the first time he had ever seen Ratio drunk.

They’ve had their fair share of drinks together, more times than the 10 fingers on his hands. But, it had never gotten past the point where either of them were inebriated. Not even once for the both of them.

At most? Tipsy. But, that was in Aventurine’s case.

Ratio? Nothing at all. Not even a flush.

That was why the idea of the cold, disciplined doctor drinking more than he could handle had never once crossed Aventurine’s mind. When he did have the slightest sense of curiosity for such a scenario and insisted for one more round of drinks a couple of times, Ratio would scrunch his face and dismiss his request with a I’d rather not.

(After a couple more of those, Aventurine figured it wasn’t going to happen.

On the brighter side, at least a couple of shots with this man was better than nothing at all.)

It wasn’t until late in one evening when a panicked phone call from one of Ratio’s coworkers (Margaret, if he remembered correctly) begging to pick Ratio up from a work party. If it weren’t for the fact that her panic sounded incredibly genuine, Aventurine would’ve bursted out laughing and hung up the phone.

After all, who in what universe would someone like the Doctor Veritas Ratio need to have someone pick him up?

Well, he figured it out.

At the long table of about twenty attendees, there was an individual out of the ocean of pleading faces looking over at Aventurine with that — ah — recognizable scowl etched on his extremely annoyed face.

Wrinkles in between the forehead, brows furrowed intensely, face flushed red incredibly beyond his comprehension, glasses almost slipping off, tie slightly loosened as if Ratio pulled on it to breathe—

(Aventurine stopped himself and stared down at the cup sitting next to Ratio.)

Unfortunately, that face meant that Ratio must’ve gone off on all of these poor people.

“Director Aventurine!”

Aventurine glanced over to the woman — Margaret, he was guessing — rushing to his side and leaning in to whisper.

“Dr. Ratio was taking shots of alcohol in someone’s stead and we found out that someone else accidentally mixed a couple of them with vodka.”

“Vodka?” Aventurine pushed his hand against his lips briefly to stifle a laugh at the absurdity of a particular man’s drinks getting spiked. “That’s interesting. Did anything happen after that?”

“Well… for the last two hours, he was going off on tangents and acting,” a curt side eye, “a little moody.”

“Moody? Isn’t the doctor usually like that?”

“I suppose,” Margaret cleared her throat. “But, I think it’s a good idea if Dr. Ratio goes home since I doubt he would be pleased to see pictures and videos of him drunk.” She said, pointing down at the crowd. After studying them for a little longer, it became more and more clear that the audience wasn’t suffering under harsh scrutiny.

Rather, they were very,

very

awed.

“I doubt Ratio’d allow any of us to take him home.”

Marget was most likely right about that.

Dragging Ratio home was one ordeal. Trying to take Ratio home was another. In fact, Aventurine doubted Ratio would allow anyone to touch him in such vulnerable state anyway.

Although

technically

Ratio was already allowing these guys to see him like

this.

And that fact

didn’t settle right

for some reason.

“I guess you’re right about that. I’ll take him home then.”

“Thank you, truly!”

Aventurine pretended his stomach didn’t turn the slightest bit by presenting a pleasant smile as he moved down the table, barely acknowledging the other drunk employees along the way before he stood behind Ratio’s chair.

“Doctor, I’m here to take you home.”

The usual sharpness was blatantly gone from just the way Ratio slowly turned his head — the scowl dissipating to something that resembled a confused frown.

If Aventurine looked past the dazed red-golden eyes, the slightly disheveled hair, and once again the loosened tie with the collar stretched out just enough to expose the adam’s apple of Ratio’s neck —

Forget the sad puppy.

This was like looking at a depressed dog.

“I thought you were still working.” Ratio slurred, each syllable drawn so clumsily that Aventurine had to stifle a laugh.

(I thought you were still working,

which sounded as if Ratio didn’t expect Aventurine to come.

To which, yes, Aventurine wasn’t supposed to come nor planned to. And yet it meant that perhaps,

Aventurine wasn’t supposed to see this state that the doctor was in.

Ever.

Again, Aventurine pretended that the tinge of weird didn’t sting.)

“I just got out, but your friends called me over to pick you up. Can you stand?”

“Ah.” Ratio’s eyes flitted all over Aventurine’s face — like he was trying to register Aventurine’s face before he gave a faint nod. “Okay.”

Docile was not the word Aventurine would use to describe the doctor. Ever. As a joke? Maybe.

As a genuine statement?

Well, here he was, watching Ratio oblige wordlessly by rising from his chair — not a single protest leaving his mouth as he wobbled on his two feet and turned to Aventurine to—

“Doc—!”

Aventurine’s arms shot out with trained reflexes when the doctor nearly lost his balance and tipped forward a tad too much into Aventurine. If it weren’t for Aventurine catching him (and the doctor grabbing onto him for support), Ratio would had been face first into the poor ground.

A funny thought for later.

A concerned thought for now.

“Hey, are you—”

Okay?

The word disappeared with a hitched breath.

Aventurine almost choked when Ratio slithered an arm around to hug him with Ratio’s head falling into his shoulder.

In this position, his ears twitched from Ratio’s heavy breaths tickling him.

He had no idea if Ratio could hear the pulse against his neck; he prayed that Ratio didn’t hear it.

Excuses ran through his head like he was anticipating the possibilities of Ratio inquiring about it.

Why is your heart racing so much?

(I don’t know what you mean, Doctor.)

The excuses became fainter and fainter, his mind nearly blanking from the hand that roamed on his back.

Since Aventurine was the sober one, he fortunately had the awareness to realize they were in a room full of spectators, who all gave a collective gasp from the scene they were witnessing.

“Haha, it seems like the doctor tripped!” Aventurine exclaimed with a laugh—

narrowing his eyes and

smiling thinly at the witnesses.

“Isn’t that right, you guys?”

The employees — tensed in their drunken stupor — nodded furiously while exchanging loud, nervous laughter.

“The doctor tripped! Indeed, yes! Haha! Of course, Director Aventurine!”

Aventurine hummed.

“Good, now I advise you to keep this amongst yourself, or you won’t hear the end of it from the Doctor. Or me. Understand?

“Yes!”

[All wrapped up in embers]

The hotel bed creaked and dipped with the weight of Aventurine now taking a seat beside Ratio — whom had been lazily watching Aventurine move out and about with dimming the lights at a comfortable level and folding Ratio’s blazer neatly to place aside.

Taking care of Veritas Ratio was an unusual thought — or thing — to do, considering how it was always the other way around.

Now sitting beside Ratio, Aventurine tilted his head to examine the effects of the poisoned fun: the red shades that painted Ratio’s skin in a vibrant tint, the glazed eyes that tried to focus, the tousled mess of dark hair.

How unusual.

Unusual,

because the countless nights they had shared drinks, Ratio had never came as close to looking like…

this.

Ever.

At least to Aventurine’s knowledge.

But, who was he to be weirdly irrational over the idea of Ratio having some fun with a drink more than he could handle over some other company beside him?

They were both simply colleagues.

Coworkers.

Acquaintances.

Aventurine would hardly call himself a friend of Ratio; he wouldn’t dare to mean it genuinely. Not due to the fact that being close with the doctor was a displeasure. In fact, it was quite the contrary.

But Aventurine knew the doctor’s opinions on him — more than enough to keep the irrationalities to himself.

A breath for composure.

“You drank a little too much, Doctor.” Aventurine said, hooking a finger on Ratio’s tie. “Did you have fun?”

“No.” Ratio muttered with a deep frown. “It wasn’t.”

“That’s a shame.”

“It is.”

Aventurine assumed the slurred statements a weak lie, but decided to not call out on it as he carefully loosened Ratio’s tie — peeling it off to allow the man to breathe.

And the man did.

Aventurine tried to ignore the way the protrusion on Ratio’s throat bobbed slightly with a deep inhale and a swallow, concentrating on discarding the tie to the table before he retrieved the antidote (a bottle of water) waiting there.

He didn’t really expect much from Ratio — or in this case drunk Ratio. However, the moment he returned his gaze back to the doctor, he caught the eyes that flickered up and down at him intensely — as if there was something on his face.

Or Ratio was thinking about

something.

It was much, much easier — Aventurine realized — to decipher Ratio when he was sober and collected.

Perhaps it was the distance, both mentally and physically that made it easy to predict Veritas Ratio:

What kind of thoughts Ratio was having.

What kind of words Ratio was going to say.

What kind of reaction Ratio was going to have.

What kind of decisions Ratio was going to make.

That wasn’t to say Aventurine was entirely right every time. But his guesses were close enough to being correct that it was basically the same thing.

This time, Ratio had started to lean in,

a firm hand planted on the bed and crept closer towards in,

red eyes fixated on him — as if Aventurine might disappear with a blink,

his face coming closer

and closer.

Was Ratio going to wipe something on his face?

Was Ratio going to scold or criticize him about something?

What was Ratio going to do?

Then, a naive thought surfaced.

And Aventurine’s heart raced in anticipation.

Was Ratio going to…

one…

two…

Ratio halted sharply — snapping to the water bottle pressed onto his cheek like a cat startled by a loud noise. Aventurine pressed his lips together and pretended he didn’t see that (nor was amused by the sight) for the sake of the doctor’s dignity.

“It would do you some good if you drank some water to sober up.” Aventurine smiled. “I don’t think you’d be pleased to hear if things happened while you were drunk.”

A disappointed, depressed frown. Unfortunately, Aventurine couldn’t hold back a laugh this time.

“What’s with that face?”

Ratio muttered. “How do you know I wouldn’t be pleased if things happened?”

“Because you’re drunk.”

“I don’t think that’ll be the case.”

“Doctor, the symptom of having a drink too much is a mind messed up beyond help for the next few hours.” An exasperated sigh. Funny that Aventurine out of all people was explaining symptoms to a doctor. “You’re lucky. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought you were trying to kiss me.”

“I was.”

The bottle nearly slipped from his hand; his composure almost followed along too. Maybe if he was some sort of fan or admirer, he’d be ecstatic and jumping all over the walls. But he was a coworker.

An acquaintance.

A colleague.

A—

Aventurine hitched his breath, swallowing the gasp as Ratio leaned forward to hover beside his ear and whisper:

“What do you think of me?”

He thanked the fact that Ratio wasn’t looking at him as he closed his eyes — pretending that the extremely close proximity, their positions,

how warm Ratio’s body heat was,

how Ratio looked in that strange, charming way that he would carry around and attract the people in his vicinity.

What do you think of me?

Tap. Tap. Tap. The finger on the water bottle.

Then, Aventurine exhaled a smile before he reached to take Ratio’s hand — guiding it up in the air with the doctor’s hand allowing it.

“I think you’re interesting. Pleasant to talk to. A pleasure to be around. In fact, I’ve always enjoyed your company.” Aventurine slowly slid the bottle into Ratio’s palm. “You’re handsome. Attractive. Maybe even cute. And,” Aventurine curled Ratio’s fingers around the bottle.

“Perhaps I’d even say that I’m

interested

in you.

A symptom was the lapses in memory and judgement.

Depending how much a person drank, they could be having a grand time of their life at one blink, and the next they’d find themselves on the floor with no recollection of the night.

Depending how much Ratio drank, there was a chance for him to not catch what Aventurine had said.

Or there was a chance that Ratio wouldn’t even remember everything at all.

So for tonight, that was how much Aventurine was going to admit while betting on those chances.

Because yes,

like any other person in the vicinity of the grand Doctor Veritas Ratio, he too had stopped to the level of a lesser idiot who couldn’t help but want the man.

To admire the man.

To fantasize how close they could get.

To think about Veritas Ratio as more than a colleague, a coworker, an acquaintance.

Of course, Aventurine knew perfectly, perfectly well of his own place and their relationship. He knew it well, and he made very, very sure to pin those facts to his brain.

Because maintaining a simple and amicable partnership was infinitely ten times better than losing it forever.

So this situation

was

unfair.

The positions they were in was unfair.

The way Ratio’s eyes flickered brightly at his words was unfair.

The way Ratio’s lips opened, and that it could take Aventurine one second to close them was

unfair.

Animated, Ratio started to talk.

“Then—”

But,” Aventurine interrupted, pulling back just enough to regain the few inches of space between them. “I know that you don’t prefer to meddle in those affairs, especially with me. After all, the pursuit of knowledge and curing idiocy is already an arduous journey to consider in other affairs like—“

“It’s very annoying when you keep jumping to your own baseless conclusions.” Ratio sharply clicked his tongue as if he witnessed a mistake that ticked him off.

Unfortunately, Aventurine wasn’t following.

“Baseless?”

“You think you know what I prefer and don’t prefer. But you don’t,” Ratio muttered. Aventurine hitched his breath as the red eyes flickered all over him — the heat of Ratio’s scrutiny tickling his skin. “I am interested in you. Romantically.

Huh?

Huh?

“What about you?” Ratio asked, his voice piercing through Aventurine’s bewilderment.

Aventurine narrowed his eyes.

(“Is there a reason why you’ve been inviting me to dinner every other night?”

Aventurine smiled simply, feigning innocence as he took a bite of the luxurious food.

“If you were truly annoyed by my invitations, then you would’ve denied them.” Aventurine hummed, prodding the tip of his shoe at Ratio underneath the table, earning a deadpanned expression.

“Is there a reason why you keep accepting my invitations, Doctor?”

The answer came in the form of a simple huff and an unmoved leg.)

“I do.

The glazed red eyes locked onto him intensely — holding Aventurine in place,

making Aventurine’s nerves surface with those words leaking into his ears as temptation.

Aventurine should be the one tempting Ratio.

But why

why was it the complete opposite?

Fine.

He’d entertain him a little more.

“If what you’re saying is true, then drink some water. If you drop the bottle to the floor, you can kiss me like you said you would — no questions needed. If that’s not the case, then give me the bottle. How does that sound?”

Thankfully, Ratio was quick to oblige with an eager nod — a strange thing to say — as he took the bottle to chug down a considerable amount of water.

Aventurine took the chance to close his eyes discreetly, pretending he was not remotely interested in watching (ogling) at the doctor chasing for hydration. Moments later, he opened them to the sound of the bottle cap screwing itself closed.

Reflexively, Aventurine extended a hand out for Ratio to place right onto it. After all, he doubted that Ratio would:

1. Mindlessly discard trash onto the floor,

2. Follow through completely with this mini-test, and

3. Remember what the test was about anyway.

Not that Aventurine would get mad about.

In fact, it was better to keep up the facade,

pretend there was no expectations, no fantasies, no chances or possibilities that things between them were ever going to go as far as—

Thud.

Aventurine snapped at the bottle rolling on the floor, wide-eyed, until he shot over at Ratio with an intense expression.

“There. Can I kiss you now?”

Aventurine uttered in disbelief. “Yes—“

A gasp broke out — instantly captured when Ratio closed in and caught Aventurine’s lips.

Gentle.

Slow.

The taste of alcohol lingered on his tongue when he parted his lips to allow Ratio in — the doctor’s tongue slipping through to pass Aventurine the hints of strong liquor.

Alcohol was hardly something Aventurine would consider enjoyable. It was simply a tool, an excuse, to ask the doctor for his time on random nights after work.

In itself, alcohol was bitter and lacking.

Yet here he was:

desperately clutching Ratio’s shirt with the newfound want of more, more, more,

his nerves riddling with excitement from Ratio’s touch — grip — on his waist as Ratio pulled their bodies in together,

his blood rushing with adrenaline as his back fell to the plush mattress — arms tightening around Ratio’s neck as he felt Ratio cup the back of his head to kiss him more,

and more,

and more.

Until five minutes, or eons, later, they both finally parted to breathe.

“Wow.” Aventurine panted, breathless. “Honestly, I think you just really wanted to kiss someone.”

The statement shattered all heat and tension when Ratio furrowed his brows.

“Am I not making it clear that I’m interested in you?”

(Romantically.)

This time, Aventurine cleared his throat for composure as he moved up — a hand pushing on Ratio’s chest until they were both sitting upright again.

“No, not really.” Another light push on Ratio’s chest to regain the distance. “I still believe you’re out of your right mind and just saying random things in your head.”

“Then, may I spend the night trying to convince you otherwise?”

How unfair — the red-tinted eyes that gazed at him. Pleading, almost.

Aventurine wanted to pretend he didn’t see that.

He tried to pretend he didn’t see that.

“Ratio, how many shots did you have earlier?”

“I don’t know… seven?”

Aventurine blinked. “Seven?

Then, he laughed.

(Because why in what world would the doctor go as far to end up in… this state for an audience of employees when Ratio hadn’t once done so around him?

And yet Ratio was sitting in front of him saying he was interested in him?)

“I’m not sure, dear Doctor.” Aventurine smiled teasingly. “You might pass out before you get to do anything tonight.”

Ratio frowned. “I’m not going to pass out.”

“I’m not convinced.”

“Will you let me?”

“I doubt you’d want to go far to do that.”

“I can go as far as you want me to.”

Unfair.

So unfair — the way these lies were sliding past Ratio’s teeth smoothly.

So, so smooth and sweet that it irritated Aventurine, the self-proclaimed god of liars.

But, fine.

He could lay down the cards too.

With a scoff, Aventurine pressed his fingers against Ratio’s chest and pushed him down — Ratio obliging wordlessly and falling on his back with a bed’s creak before Aventurine moved to straddle him.

Aventurine pretended he didn’t notice the way his own body warmed at his own action — the positions that they were in now,

and he pretended he didn’t notice the way Ratio’s chest rose and fell deeply — the red eyes settling on him so firmly,

so intensely.

However, Aventurine did note the two hands that remained on the doctor’s side. Rigid. Unmoving. Having second doubts.

How characteristic, compared to the touchy clinginess five minutes ago.

“This is what I mean by far, Doctor.” Aventurine trailed his fingers up the dress shirt, his fingertip tapping at every passing button to tempt. Taunt. All the way until his finger hooked at Ratio’s collar. “Are you sure you want that?”

Ratio’s face twisted, wrinkling in the same way he would to anyone who messed up terribly at solving a meager equation.

The equation being this.

This.

But frankly, it wasn’t Aventurine’s fault if he couldn’t understand it.

Just as Aventurine shifted his leg — more so to adjust his position than to leave, Ratio’s stiff hands moved to brush against his legs — as if Aventurine might.

And Aventurine

had to chew his inner lip

to keep himself together.

“Why do you keep asking me whether or not I want to when it’s obvious I do?”

Obvious was not the correct word.

“Because you’re drunk.”

“I’m still very, very much aware of everything right now.”

What a bluff.

“Really now?” Aventurine scoffed as he leaned backwards to reach down and press a palm on Ratio’s pants. But to his surprise, he didn’t expect to feel something hard — harder than he thought. Regardless, “are you aware of this?”

Ratio exhaled a low, low groan, eyes nearly closing when Aventurine pressed down harder.

It was meant to cause a reaction — one that would involve Aventurine getting chastised and ripped into shreds for touching him. But this… this—

Aventurine had to be imagining this,

the way Ratio lifted his hips, eyes fluttered close and pathetic pants escaping, as Ratio chased the friction of Aventurine’s hand rubbing against him.

“Very, very aware.”

Like the wicked maniac he was, Ratio’s hands slid along his legs — traveling up slowly, slowly, slowly, like he was gauging Aventurine’s reactions to the touch.

Like the wicked maniac he was, Aventurine shivered and bit his inner cheek to bite down the fact that he wasn’t enjoying this. That the touches burned him in the best way he could and couldn’t describe—

that when Ratio’s fingers brushed on his inner thighs and squeezed—

What a cold, filthy cheater.

Getting drunk around other people.

Showing this side of him to other people?

And yet Ratio talked about being interested in him — kissing him and holding him and doing this to him as if Ratio knew what Aventurine felt towards him.

The irrationalities Aventurine had around him.

The small, indulgent fantasies of closeness.

The reasons and excuses for him to steal the doctor.

The way Aventurine had to try, try, try to keep everything shut in a jar and keep himself satisfied with everything they currently had.

But Ratio, he…

he

Aventurine bit down hard at the noise threatening to escape him — an attempt proven harder and harder with the way Ratio held his thighs and rubbed against Aventurine’s palm, and how flushed Ratio’s face was underneath that mess of hair.

Sparks ignited among his nerves, and Aventurine’s composure cracked with a moan that betrayed him when their positions shifted just enough for their own arousals to grind against each other through fabric.

His mind almost blanked — temporarily faltering and focusing on the sensations that rushed through him, the groans and grunts escaping the drunk doctor as his hands guided Aventurine’s waist back and forth — not that the guidance was needed when Aventurine found himself jerking against Ratio on his own.

Wrecked, cracked, messy — Aventurine’s moans were captured by Ratio once again when Ratio sat up and closed the distance tightly.

Slow.

Deep.

Savoring.

Unfamiliar territory was nothing Aventurine didn’t experience before. But this… this was a different ballpark.

And he hoped that it didn’t show.

Not when Aventurine parted his lips willingly — to allow Ratio to devour whatever he wanted in his mouth.

Not when Aventurine found himself relishing in the way Ratio angled their heads to deepen the kiss more and more.

Not when Aventurine fisted Ratio’s shirt and wrinkling it beyond help when Ratio’s hands roamed all over him — rubbing him and grinding against him in a desperate rhythm—

As if Ratio knew exactly what could tempt Aventurine.

and it

was

frustrating.

Ratio nearly jolted from the sudden pain on his lip before the kiss abruptly broke off — only for a hand to push Ratio back down on the bed with a glower that made him freeze still.

“What…” Ratio began to ask, only for the question to trail off when Aventurine began to peel his own blazer off. Red eyes followed the blazer that were thrown off the bed carelessly before returning to Aventurine’s fingers that started to unbutton his own pants.

Aventurine expected the doctor here to finally say something — that that little brain which managed to accomplish eight doctorates would catch up and realize what was going on. To realize what Aventurine was trying to imply with every movement.

To realize that

(maybe being entangled with a person like Aventurine was the most

idiotic

idea.)

Except,

Ratio didn’t say anything.

Nothing at all.

Only eye-ing at him in anticipation.

And he pretended that that gaze didn’t do anything to him as his fingers slowed — tugging his pants off and letting it fall from the edge of the bed.

“Doctor, you better tell me right now that you’re going to regret this, and that everything else that might happen tonight is going to be a terrible idea.”

“And if I think otherwise?”

“I know that’s not the case with you.”

Ratio exhaled.

“Do you want to stop?”

Aventurine stiffened.

No.

No, he didn’t.

But that was admitting that he wanted this.

That he wanted the doctor — that he…

Aventurine was going to bank on the drunk man forgetting about everything.

“No. I don’t.”

The doctor’s voice shook as Aventurine yanked the button and zipper of Ratio’s pants until he caught Ratio’s cock — which shamelessly throbbed with every slow, torturous stroke within Aventurine’s fist. A drawled swear exhaled under Ratio’s ragged breaths before his hips bucked sharply from a thumb pushed against the very tip of his head.

How cute.

How satisfying.

How irritating.

“Gambl—“

Before Ratio could buck into Aventurine’s grasp any further, Aventurine pushed his hand against Ratio’s leg.

“If you want more, I need you to follow my instructions and be on your best behavior. Yes, dear Doctor?” Aventurine asked, and Ratio nodded eagerly. The corner of Aventurine’s lip turned, and he crept forward until his lips touched against Ratio’s flushed ear. “You’re not allowed to move or touch me until I tell you to. Okay?”

Ratio’s word of agreement barely came out as he was more focused on watching Aventurine creeping away from his face, down his body, all the way until a shaky exhale escaped at the feeling of Aventurine’s lips hovering right next to his cock.

A kiss.

Another kiss.

Slowly trailing from the head down to the base.

Aventurine tried to ignore the racing his chest,

the excitement,

(the nervousness),

from the feeling of a pair of red eyes gazing at him,

watching his every move.

Then, Aventurine opened his mouth and engulfed Ratio’s cock.

God—!”

The doctor’s hips almost jerked, hands nearly shooting out to grab onto Aventurine’s hair. However, as Aventurine slowly bobbed his head up and down, Aventurine watched the frustrated hands clenched tightly mid-air before they retreated elsewhere — one resting uncomfortably on the bed and the other pushing back Ratio’s own hair.

What a good doctor.

Aventurine hummed in amusement — (a suppressed jerk) — slid down the throbbing shaft — (a low groan) — and he ran his tongue up up up until it provoked a vein. Successfully, Ratio began to writhe as he tried to bite down a moan.

“Gambler, I swear to Aeons,” Ratio groaned and,

ah.

There was that tone.

Frustration.

Irritation.

A hint of suffering.

The rare kind of suffering — the suffering of pent-up arousal — that Aventurine hardly ever heard from Ratio.

The idea that only Aventurine could hear this — see this side of Ratio — made Aventurine’s stomach twist in excitement.

A sly grin spread across Aventurine’s lips as he pulled away with a pop, sitting straight up with Ratio’s eyes following up to his face.

Gambler.

How utterly refined this man looked, despite the messed up hair,

the messed up clothes,

the messed up face that grew redder and redder

(most likely from being under the influence rather than Aventurine’s doing.

But, that was fine.

This was fine.)

“Remember to not move.”

Ratio nodded as Aventurine reached to take one of Ratio’s hands that had been twitching to move, to touch. And touch there was — as Ratio widened his eyes when Aventurine opened his mouth and took one of Ratio’s fingers inside.

Ratio’s eyes shook, his cock twitching in agony as Aventurine’s tongue slid up and down his finger —

licking it,

biting it

as provocatively as Aventurine could.

And Ratio’s cock twitched

more

and more,

watching as Aventurine ran his own hand down that teal button-up shirt — popping it open just enough to give the doctor a welcoming peek at his skin.

Ah,

there it was—

the satisfying sight of the protrusion of Ratio’s throat bobbing from a hard, difficult swallow.

Finally, Aventurine removed Ratio’s finger from his mouth and hummed against it.

“Seems like I’ll need your help if we want to continue further,” Aventurine said slyly. “Unless, you’re ready to change your mind.”

Like a desperate cat, Ratio shook his head quickly with slightly wide eyes. “No—no. I want to continue. I can do whatever you want me to do. Please.”

(Was this the Veritas Ratio he knew?)

Aventurine quirked a small smile, slowly shifting closer while guiding Ratio’s hand to behind him.

“I’m sure you know what you need to do here, do you?”

Ratio swallowed hard — eagerly — with a restrained nod, reaching until the wet finger slowly pushed inside. Aventurine hitched his breath, then gave a soft gasp as Ratio’s finger gently pushed further and further in — curling and massaging in ways that made Aventurine struggle to hold back the soft moans.

“Does it feel good?” Ratio asked, earning a squeeze around his finger when he pressed against a spot that made Aventurine jolt slightly. “How does it feel? Is it good?”

“Good—so… good, nnngh—right there, Ratio…“ Aventurine panted, only to moan louder when Ratio thrusted his finger up into that spot again. “Ah—

Ratio’s breaths ragged as Aventurine leaned close — close enough for Ratio’s lips to brush against Aventurine’s flushed chest while groaning at Aventurine’s hands tugging at his hair.

“Ahh… you’re squeezing so much…”

Aventurine tried to pretend to not feel the kisses trailing all around his skin,

as Ratio’s fingers became greedy and thrusted faster,

massaging the same spot over and over again,

and Aventurine tried to pretend — tried to disregard it as he moved his hips to match the greedy pace Ratio had set, trying to chase the warmth that grew hotter and hotter.

“Com—ing… I’m gonna…!”

As if that was a set of magic words, Ratio’s fingers thrusted one final time — hitting at the same exact spot that sent sparks flying through Aventurine’s body — making Aventurine lose his breath and convulse as his orgasm spilled and stained Ratio’s clean white dress shirt.

Aventurine panted, almost breathless as he felt Ratio pressing another soft kiss on his skin, his fingers lingering within him as if they were afraid to part away.

“Did it feel good?” Ratio murmured, and Aventurine held back a shiver from the voice that vibrated throughout his body.

Did it feel good?

Good was an understatement, Aventurine realized. If this was in any other night, Aventurine would’ve relinquished everything to Ratio — allow Ratio to take all of him and do whatever he wanted.

But,

but

“Dear Doctor, hands up here.

Ratio gladly accepted — taking the granted permission like a man starving for water with how eager his hands slid underneath Aventurine’s dress shirt before they wrapped around Aventurine’s waist with a grip of held-back desperation.

Aventurine’s composure faltered — twitching in his own arousal as he bit down a noise at the last second to gather himself.

“Remember to not move.” Aventurine reminded again as he lifted his hips and grasped onto Ratio’s cock. “If you pull me down, I’ll stop. Understand?”

Ratio’s face shifted with strained obedience, his breaths ragged as he nodded.

“Yes. I understand.”

“Good.” Good.

Because Aventurine himself needed to remember.

He needed to remember that he shouldn’t want the doctor to pin him down on the bed and make a mess out of him,

that he shouldn’t want the big hands on his waist to pull his body all the way down until he could feel the doctor deep inside,

that he shouldn’t want the doctor to touch him,

and hold him,

and kiss him and bite him and whisper all the sweet, dirty nothings in his ears and leave all sorts of evidence that

this night between them existed.

(Because tomorrow, it won’t.)

Aventurine exhaled a flutter of nerves, trying to keep his eyes opened and his body balanced as he slowly sank down — Ratio’s tip inching into him slowly, bit by bit, until they were both breathless when Aventurine squeezed around the swollen head.

Aeons.” Ratio’s voice drawled, his exhales heavy when Aventurine’s hand pushed his chest down to keep him from sitting up before Aventurine pressed a provoking kiss on the edge of his lips.

“Look at you, Doctor.” Aventurine smiled against Ratio’s lips as he rocked his hips up and down on the head of Ratio’s cock that twitched with every small, torturous movement. “You’re doing so well, as expected from someone like you. Are you enjoying this?”

Yeah… Yeah, mmhm, it’s— haah—” Ratio groaned, voice rough and full of grit when Aventurine purposely moaned against his ear, panting with need when Aventurine sank lower and lower, only to raise his hips back up to neglect the ache. Ratio squeezed tighter on Aventurine’s waist, rasping a drunk swear when Aventurine rode the tip of Ratio’s cock in an agonising rhythm.

Aeons, please— Aventurine, please, please,

please.

Begging?

That

was something.

Aventurine couldn’t stop himself from laughing at the red-golden eyes pleading underneath the drunk flush — the impatience, the hushed obscenities almost like music to his ears.

“What? What is it, my dear Doctor?”

“Please, just— I… want you so bad.

I want to do so many things with you,

I want to hold you,

I want to mess you up so much, I—

I want you so bad,

please.

Please, please, plea—

The last word was choked out when Ratio was suddenly yanked upwards by the collar — the force of the tug nearly shocking out a strangled groan as he caught the purple-blue gaze and the small head tilt as Aventurine studied his inebriated face closely.

Provocatively, Aventurine pressed a thumb on Ratio’s lip, tempted to ruin it with a biting bruise as he brushed against it.

“You said you wanted to hold me?”

“Yes. I did.”

“Isn’t that what you’re doing right now?” Aventurine asked, teasing Ratio as he sank down an inch lower on Ratio’s cock — feeling Ratio’s stiff hands struggling yet obliging as Ratio ragged a moan out.

Haah— Aven—turine…

“Is this good? Or do you want me to leave—“

No. No, no, no, don’t go,” Ratio strangled out, groaning as Aventurine ran his thumb across Ratio’s lip. “Please, it’s good, you feel good, you— you feel so good.

“Do I?” Aventurine laughed before he sank down another inch, letting out a moan as Ratio gripped tighter at his waist and gasped raggedly before Aventurine squeezed around the throbbing cock.

“Good? Is it really that good, dear Doctor?”

Yes— yes, mmhmm— good— so good, you feel so good, you feel amazing, please. Please, please, please. I want more of you, I want you, I—

The rest of the words were abruptly muffled and died out thanks to the hand that suddenly shot out and covered Ratio’s mouth. Ratio — confused, caught Aventurine’s brows knitting as his purple-blue gaze flickered with a tint of confusion.

“There’s something that confuses me, Doctor.” Aventurine murmured, genuine confusion leaking underneath the flirtation as he moved his hands away. “Why are you letting me do this to you?”

“What do you mean?” Ratio asked, his words slurred — reminding Aventurine of his current state.

“I know a person like you refuses to be messed around and forced to oblige instructions. In fact, I know a person like you would’ve instantly pushed me off the moment I got on. Have you really gone over the edge tonight, Ratio?”

“Is it really that hard to believe that I want to do this with you? Or that the reason why I didn’t push you off is because I wanted you to stay?

“Yes, it’s really that hard for me to believe you. Besides, one of the symptoms of a drink too much is a personality change, and yours — yours is quite a 180.”

“Then what can I do to make you believe me?” Ratio murmured, pressing his words against Aventurine’s skin as he peered up at Aventurine’s intense gaze.

“What can I do to make you believe that I really mean it?

That I want you?

That I want you so, so terribly bad?

Aventurine scoffed. “You’re acting like a fool in love.”’

“Because I am one.” Ratio said, kissing Aventurine’s skin gently. “I am so terribly foolishly in love with you.

Unfair.

How unfair.

If Ratio hadn’t drank a single thing tonight, then Aventurine would have been the slightest bit more inclined to believe those words,

to believe in the red-golden eyes that were gazing at him, leaking desperation yet firm as if Ratio truly believed in his own words.

(or maybe…

there was a slight chance that maybe…)

Slowly, Aventurine trailed his fingers down Ratio’s cheek, tracing along Ratio’s jaw before brushing his thumb on Ratio’s lips — feeling Ratio’s cock twitch at the movements when Aventurine barely rocked his hips on the quarter inch inside of him.

“Do you want to convince me that bad?”

Ratio nodded eagerly, a shaky exhale licking the tip of Aventurine’s thumb on his lip as Aventurine leaned in close for their noses to barely hover above each other.

“Do you want me that bad?

“Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I want you so bad. So terribly bad.

“Then how many seconds are in two minutes, Doctor?”

“A hundred and twenty seconds.”

Ratio parted his lips as Aventurine drew in closer and closer until the heat was searing expectations of a kiss so deeply craved for. And Aventurine drew in closer, close enough until Ratio would be able to close the distance and capture Aventurine’s lips into a—

“Here’s what you’re going to do.”

Ratio grunted, shocked by the sudden impact when Aventurine shoved him down onto the bed once again, his hand pushing against Ratio’s chest to tell him to stay.

“You’re going to count to 120, and you’re not going to move or do anything while you count. Once you hit 120, you get to do whatever you want to me after. Understand?

The doctor blinked owlishly. “Anything?”

“Yes. Anything.” Aventurine cradled his hips on Ratio’s cock — earning a sweet groan from the latter. “You get to kiss me all you want. Fuck me all you want. Hold me all you want.

As much as you want.

As long as you want.

As hard and rough as you want.

All to your heart's content.

Do you understand now?”

There was a slight spark in Ratio’s eyes, his expression more animated underneath that drunken daze and desperation.

“Yes. Yes. I understand.”

Good. “Good,” Aventurine leaned in and whispered. “One.”

“Two—”

Ratio almost choked when Aventurine suddenly dropped all the way down — engulfing Ratio’s cock completely that it nearly made Ratio jolt upwards. A curse escaped, followed by the shamelessly loud moans from the both of them as Aventurine squeezed tightly around Ratio’s cock that filled him up so deep inside.

Aventurine rasped.

Count.

And Ratio did — his eyes fluttering shut and open as his mouth moved.

Ratio’s voice — one that easily criticized idiots, never unwavered in composure, and always stayed as firm and cold as stone — struggled to speak.

Struggled to even utter four… five…

ten…

Aventurine knew this was torture — he hoped it was — because no matter how quick and desperate Aventurine rode on Ratio’s cock, or how deep Ratio grinded into him, or how every wave of shock and pleasure electrified his nerves from the grip around his hips that struggled to oblige instructions—

Aventurine knew very, very well how much more Ratio could send him over the edge.

How easily Ratio could just

do that.

“Twenty-five…

twenty-six…”

Just like how easily Ratio had been making him feel so many things.

Not just tonight, but all the other nights. Days. However long they knew each other.

With every single touch and word they had exchanged. How Ratio’s company, presence, had become something more than just coworkers or acquaintances.

How — somehow — Ratio became the person Aventurine couldn’t look away from.

(and he hated that realization.)

“Forty-three…

Forty-f—four…”

And Aventurine hoped this tortured Ratio

with every single number that Ratio wrung out,

with every movement Aventurine made,

with every kiss against Ratio’s neck,

with every noise made in Ratio’s ears,

with every trace of touch as Aventurine’s hands slid underneath that wrinkled dress shirt to feel Ratio’s heated body underneath it.

(and he hoped it tortured Ratio as much as it did for himself.)

“Fift—y….”

The sparks shook Aventurine’s spine and wrung out a loud moan when Aventurine sank back down onto Ratio’s cock — his nerves shuddering from the way he could feel Ratio filling him so deep inside with every rise and fall, up and down the thick, twitching cock.

“Rati—o…” Aventurine uttered, restraints loosened on his composure as he rode Ratio faster. Clumsier. Chasing the friction with every thrust and every wrecked moan from the doctor.

Because in these two minutes, Aventurine was going to allow himself to indulge in it.

The fantasies.

The closeness.

The wants, the ways, the burns, the touches,

the intense rhythm of Aventurine’s heart pounding so fast when Ratio gripped tighter onto his waist as Aventurine pushed his face into Ratio’s shoulder to bury his voice, his moans, inside of it,

the unobtainable dream.

“Seventy… eight—nngh—

seventy… nine.

The neck was tempting.

So, so tempting that Aventurine so badly wanted to mark a bite on it.

To suck on it until he left marks as red as Ratio’s god-awfully drunk red face to make sure that Ratio was going to remember this night—

remember the way everything felt,

remember everything that had left their mouths.

That no matter whoever took Ratio home next time after a stupid drunk night, Ratio was going to remember everything they did. That no matter whoever Ratio spent the next night in a bed, Aventurine wanted Ratio to remember that

Aventurine was the one who got to touch Ratio like this,

got to make Ratio act like this.

got to see Ratio act like this.

(jealousy was an ugly word.)

“Ninety… two…”

jealousy?

What exactly was he jealous about?

Aventurine was already fucking himself on Ratio,

got Ratio to follow his every word like no one else did, right?

(and yet it was such a strange thought to think that his stomach could twist so uncomfortably from the mere fact of

Ratio getting drunk and acting vulnerable around other people,

or the mere idea that if Aventurine hadn’t been the one to take Ratio home,

then —

someone else was going to be hearing, seeing, feeling Ratio so close like this.)

what was he thinking about?

“Hundred…

fif—fiteen…”

This was good enough.

This was good enough, this was good enough, this was good enough.

This was the farthest they were going to go — a simple one-night stand with no strings attached. No commitment. No title.

To touch, see, listen, feel, be with Ratio like this was already good enough to satisfy him for a long time —

even after when this drunk man’s brain was going to soon snap out of it, realize what they were doing, and regret ever entangling himself with the likes of Aventurine.

And whether or not they remain acquainted…

it was fine.

...nineteen…”

This was good enough.

This was good enough, this was good enough, this was good enough

(because in the end of the day,

Aventurine was the one being a fool in love.)

...twenty…

Aventurine’s eyes snapped open to the intense shock surging through his blood, making him choke on something between an ungodly scream and a moan as two arms suddenly wrapped around his body.

My turn.

The next second, Aventurine’s face was pushed into the pillow, his screaming mess of moans buried as Ratio grabbed his thighs to fuck up into Aventurine at an angle to hit deeper inside.

Ratio—!” Aventurine cried, startled by the extreme sensations that made his body shook and his mouth drool uncontrollably with his blind fingers tangling into Ratio’s hair. “Wait, wait! If you do that, I’m gonna…!”

The hurricane of sparks stopped abruptly, and Aventurine gasped when his world turned sharply with his back falling flat onto the bed and his gaze catching the red-golden ones hovering above him now — staring at him intensely.

Studying.

Analyzing?

Why was Ratio looking at him like that?

(did Aventurine look like a terrible mess?)

Panic and self-consciousness began to bite him harshly underneath Ratio’s scrutiny, and Aventurine choked.

“Wait, Ratio— this position’s…!”

However, Ratio interrupted the protests by grabbing onto Aventurine’s hands that tried to wipe the drool and cover Ratio’s face — pinning Aventurine’s wrists above him before he dove down to finally capture Aventurine in a messy kiss.

Aventurine’s moans were caught by Ratio’s lips — Ratio’s tongue pushing into Aventurine’s mouth to taste and swallow everything Aventurine gave.

Words.

Noises.

Saliva.

Air.

Unlike the first kiss, this was rougher,

more demanding that Aventurine could barely keep up with — a result of depraving Ratio for perhaps too long.

Heat boiled inside his mouth and stomach, his hands shaking underneath Ratio’s grasp in desperation to dig claws into Ratio as Ratio pushed his legs up to his chest.

After eons, Ratio barely pulled away just enough for Aventurine to catch a sliver of breath.

“Rati—!”

Ratio grabbed onto Aventurine’s waist and slammed himself inside.

Aventurine gasped sharply, almost choking on saliva as Ratio’s thick cock buried inside of him — the head of Ratio’s cock grinding into him so deep and at his prostate that it nearly made Aventurine roll and shut his eyes at the intensity.

“Ra—ti…o!” Aventurine moaned, swearing the doctor’s name in a frenzy as Ratio began to thrust at a pace — drawing back and slamming at a rhythm faster than when Aventurine had been riding him for the two minutes.

“Does it feel good? Are you enjoying this? Do you like this?” Ratio’s questions vibrated against Aventurine’s lips, groaning at the nails clawing helplessly at his back.

Then, Ratio buried his face into the crook of Aventurine’s neck.

“Do you believe me yet?”

Ah.

Aventurine scrambled for words and composure — trying to grasp onto his mind before it went blank from the pleasure.

“I don’t think you’d—nnngh—want to meddle… in an affair with me!”

The doctor argued back by roughly biting at the protruding collarbone — wringing the music out of the gambler’s throat before Aventurine suddenly felt Ratio pull away and straighten up to tear off the terribly wrinkled dress shirt.

Aventurine wanted — needed — to know what the hell were in those seven shots Ratio had tonight.

Instead of the sad and depressed dog that was practically begging on his knees, Ratio grabbed onto Aventurine easily without hesitation to turn him on his side, slinging Aventurine’s leg over Ratio’s shoulder before Ratio’s cock drove right back inside.

Ah—! Doc—!

“What if I do?” Ratio said, his voice that shook moments ago was calm. Firm. The same demeanor Aventurine recognized anywhere. “What if I want to be in a relationship with you? Would you believe me if that’s what I want?”

Stop talking, stop talking.

Aventurine shamelessly rasped, clinging onto the sheets and digging nails into the hands planted beside him — every obscenity leaving both of their mouths as Ratio thrusted into Aventurine at the pace and intensity to make Aventurine nearly sob.

“S—so deep—nnnngh…! …fast… you’re… I’m going to… lose it…!”

The wrecked whimper caused the rhythm to ease up — just enough for Aventurine’s lungs and throat to have mercy before he felt Ratio cup his jaws and kiss him.

Soft.

gentle.

This was torture.

Aventurine felt his resolve slowly crumble,

strangled in this kiss that should’ve been rough. Bruising. Angry. Punishing.

That was much, much better than having to feel the flutters inside of him,

inside every inch that Ratio filled in him.

Quietly, Ratio murmured.

Aeons.

You—

You have no idea how much I’ve fallen for you.”

Unfair.

Unfair.

Unfair, unfair, unfair, unfair.

It shouldn’t be this easy.

It shouldn’t be allowed.

And yet Ratio was running his mouth and saying all of these things — being interested, falling in love with him — so easily through his teeth despite the attempts of Aventurine telling himself otherwise for so, so long.

And despite the attempts to pretend the pleasures of sex were good enough to satiate him, each word leaving Ratio’s mouth made Aventurine break and crack more and more

and more.

“I—haah—know you’re… lying… !” Aventurine choked, tempted to kick at Ratio for the sweet-nothings until something sweet boiled inside him from the next thrust. “Wait, wait! I think I’m… going to come—!”

Like magic words — or a trigger — Ratio became relentless, grabbing tightly onto Aventurine’s leg and slamming his cock against Aventurine’s prostate that left Aventurine moaning in near ecstasy.

“If you think I’m lying, then I’ll keep trying to convince you until you get it through your head.”

Stop talking, stop talking, stop—

You have no idea

how much I wanted to see you.

A strangled gasp fell along with a cry, and Aventurine dug his wet face into the sheets while biting the back of Ratio’s hand with his fingernails.

The very tiny parts of his mind scrambled furiously, trying to hold onto composure as much as he could; except that was becoming harder and harder with every pathetic crumbles of the want, need, more, more, more.

“Ratio, Ra—tio… wait, wait! I’m—going to come, I’m going to come, I’m—!”

“Go ahead and come for me.

Come for me, come for me,

come for me.

(Ratio was

terrifying.)

Aventurine jerked and tightened, incoherent noises falling with the overwhelming orgasm that spilled messily onto his skin — soiling the sheets and burning his body with the overwhelming pleasure that engulfed and drowned all reasons and mind.

Yet it didn’t stop.

Not when Ratio turned Aventurine onto his back again, slinging both of Aventurine’s legs over his shoulders before Ratio shoved his cock back into Aventurine. Deeper, and deeper, and deeper — fucking Aventurine through the climax and past until overstimulation visciously attacked.

Another choke before Aventurine grabbed onto the pillows like a lifeline when he stammered brokenly. “Wait! Wait, wait, wait it’s too much, I just came…!”

Instead of the stupidly calm and daring tone, Ratio cooed.

Soft.

Gentle.

Kissing a warm whisper in Aventurine’s ear.

“You’re okay.” Ratio murmured, rubbing circles on the red waist and slowing down just enough for a moment to breathe, but not enough to give Aventurine a break from drowning in the pleasure. “You’re so good. You’re doing so good.

A kiss on the forehead.

Soft.

Gentle.

Warm.

As Ratio scattered warm, gentle kisses along Aventurine’s wet face,

as Ratio’s hands roamed softly on top of Aventurine’s body,

resting his hand on top of Aventurine’s stomach that twisted and fluttered crazily.

Aeons, you are so beautiful.

Ratio was evil.

So, so evil it was unfathomable.

And yet here Aventurine was like he didn’t know any better. Falling for it. Becoming addicted to the sweet-nothings.

Becoming addicted and desperately grasping for more, more, more of this. Of Ratio — as Aventurine nodded and moaned and cried, wrapping his legs and his arms tightly around Ratio to feel more, more, more.

More of Ratio’s body against his,

more of Ratio driving deep inside of him as Ratio grinded and slammed through the overstimulation

more of Ratio’s whispers in his ears as Ratio spoiled Aventurine in sparks and intense sensation as Aventurine bit Ratio’s skin with his fingernails.

“I’m coming again…!”

Ratio leaned down and pressed a kiss on Aventurine’s lips.

“So good. You’re doing so, so good.”

Huh?

Why did his heart pound?

Did Aventurine have a thing for praise?

Was it the way Ratio was murmuring these words that rang like a hymn,

or was it the kiss that was too gentle, too close, too

intimate?

Aventurine went rigid with a broken noise — tightening as his body ached from the climax that spilled all over his stomach, his moans becoming wrecked while Ratio slowly fucked him through his orgasm.

“That’s it. That’s it.

Just like that.”

Aventurine shuddered, whimpering when Ratio grasped onto Aventurine’s twitching cock — stroking him in slow pumps to let out every single drop while comforting Aventurine’s sobs with nuzzles and peppered kisses.

“You’re doing so good. So amazing.”

Eventually, the pumps stopped to allow the climax to finally calm down and dissipate enough for Aventurine to barely relax and catch his breaths.

Barely.

As a shiver ran through his spine from Ratio’s touch —

roaming fingertips gliding on Aventurine’s sweaty, soiled body as if Ratio was admiring some sort of painting,

leaving a burning trail on his skin as Ratio slowly popped open the rest of Aventurine’s soiled dress shirt,

admiring

with those glazed, drunk,

red-golden gaze

(like a sun

admiring the ocean)

At this time, Aventurine would’ve made a witty remark — something like “enjoying the view, (you degenerate)?” — but his self-consciousness became stronger the longer those eyes were staring at him.

(I am so terribly foolishly in love with you.)

Was it okay to believe in that?

Was it okay to believe that Ratio’s words weren’t as empty as he thought it was?

That there was something more to it when Ratio cupped his face and leaned down to kiss him with such tenderness that maybe,

maybe

Ratio wasn’t lying?

That…

Aventurine sharply gasped from an intense throb inside of him.

Why was Ratio still so hard?

Speechless and flabbergasted, Aventurine broke the kiss and pushed his hand against Ratio’s mouth to lift his head and leg until he caught the view of Ratio’s cock still inside of him and twitching with such vitality.

And yet there was not a single hint of white from Ratio himself.

Why was Aventurine coming so much,

and why hadn’t Ratio come once?

“This whole time,” Aventurine uttered, removing his hand. “Why didn’t you come yet?”

Ratio squinted, confused.

“Did you want me to?”

Did he want him to?

Was that even a question?

Aventurine scoffed in disbelief, trying to pretend the self-consciousness wasn’t pricking at him.

“Well, forgive me doctor, but isn’t that a good indicator of whether or not you’re feeling good and enjoying yourself? Unless,” Aventurine gestured with a head tilt, “this — or I am not meeting your standards.”

Ratio’s brows furrowed, the implications causing him to straighten up.

“First, for the record: there’s no one else in the universe I would consider having sex with.

Second: just because I haven’t come yet doesn’t mean I’m not feeling good. In fact, simply holding you like this already feels like ecstasy for me.”

Aventurine hitched his breath as Ratio leaned in again — returning to hover closely above Aventurine until the simmering warmth was kissing their skins, and Ratio’s thumb traced along Aventurine’s lips like a delicate thing.

“As long as you’re feeling good, that’s all that matters to me. I don’t want to do anything that hurts you.”

Ratio smiled, and he kissed Aventurine slowly.

And Aventurine

tasted the lingering alcohol on his tongue.

Ah.

Right.

This wasn’t the sane-minded Veritas Ratio.

Why else would Ratio be saying all of these things, and doing all of these things like touching him and holding him and kissing him when the sober version would never think of doing anything of the sorts with the likes of Aventurine?

Why else did Ratio — the man with reservations to even get tipsy with Aventurine, become drunk and vulnerable like this with those other people?

Was this another symptom of being drunk?

The symptom where it turned Ratio into a terrible liar?

(or maybe,

Ratio was supposed to be here with someone else from that damn party instead.)

Right.

Yeah.

That was right.

That was the most logical reason for all of this.

How funny.

Aventurine bursted out laughing, catching Ratio off-guard until a harsh groan escaped him when Aventurine tangled his hand into his hair and pulled at it hard — breaking Ratio from the kiss.

“You…

you.

Ratio’s eyes narrowed intensely, giving a rough rumble from the pain as Aventurine glowered at him with a wide, angered smile.

You’re not following my instructions, doctor.

I told you that you can do whatever you want.

You said you wanted me so bad, right?

You said this was like ecstasy, but I know that’s barely the case for you. Right?

You talk about not wanting to hurt me?

I know you want to ruin me, make a mess out of me, break me into pieces with the way you’re twitching so much inside of me.

I told you that you can use me all you want,

however you want

do whatever you want to me,

and you can call me whatever,

whoever,

you want,

if that’s going to help you.

No hard feelings.”

At those words, Ratio’s pupils nearly shrunk.

“You’re still doubting me.”

Aventurine laughed.

“How can I not? The renowned doctor got stupid drunk, started talking about falling in love with a certain gambler, and then somehow agreed to having sex with said gambler. If anything, you would’ve called yourself crazy, unless…”

“…you think I’m someone else right now.

Ratio squinted.

Scoffed.

Pulled Aventurine’s hand out of his hair before he angrily smiled.

“Fine.

Fine.

And before Aventurine could utter an I told you so,

Ratio crashed into his mouth into a hard and rough kiss — biting, swallowing, devouring all of the noises, words, sarcastic and bitter remarks trying to escape Aventurine’s mouth.

The sudden aggression nearly shocked Aventurine, and even more so when Ratio grabbed onto his clawing hands to shove them against the pillow above him — holding it tight enough for it to bruise.

Aventurine gasped and moaned from Ratio’s heavy weight pressing against him — tasting the anger and frustration he had provoked with the way Ratio became less considerate, less willing to give Aventurine even a second to catch air when Aventurine choked from Ratio’s cock slamming into him.

I’ll do whatever I want then.

The word finally was yanked into thin air when Ratio buried into Aventurine’s neck to bite, fucking into Aventurine in a ravenous rhythm — biting and sucking onto Aventurine’s skin to paint every part of his neck red.

Aventurine’s voice became more and more wrecked and loud with every thrust and every grunt from the doctor — almost screaming when Ratio’s pace suddenly ramped up even faster, rougher — attacking the prostate over and over and over to the point his body began to tighten up intensely after a minute.

“Ra—tio…! I’m gonna…!”

Right there, a ragged cry fell out of Aventurine’s mouth from the next bite sinking into his collarbone — his vision blurring as he spilled all over his stomach again, twitching on the sensation of stinging pleasure.

But the third orgasm didn’t stop Ratio from constantly driving into Aventurine and grinding against the overstimulated prostate — the rush of pleasure and anger almost drowning their senses until Aventurine’s hands started to shake as a result of the stinging, overwhelming sensation.

“Ratio, wait! I just came, I just came—!”

Except Ratio didn’t listen — not when Ratio kissed a raw grunt onto the middle of Aventurine’s neck, his cock twitching with every intense squeeze around it as his grip tightened on Aventurine’s wrists that squirmed and wrestled in desperation to claw at something, someone.

“Doc—tor! I’m going to come again!”

“Then go ahead.” Ratio growled, and he rose up to cup at Aventurine’s wet face, glaring down at the glassy eyes as he slipped his thumb into the mouth that was moaning and crying and

constantly

kept

spewing

nonsense.

A broken, pleasured sob rang in Ratio’s ears when they both collapsed over the edge — Aventurine’s back arching as Ratio groaned raggedly, his cock pulsing with every second of climax he pumped deep into Aventurine.

Breathless, sweaty, and dazed, Aventurine panted as he felt his hands go free from the bounds, the cold air stinging the burns around his wrist before he gave a broken exhale from Ratio slowly pulling out of him until Aventurine instinctively whimpered from the absence.

Aventurine’s sore legs trembled — which was almost a strangely satisfying thing — when he lifted his body to feel and see the hot white seeping out of him and trailing into the sheets.

Aventurine swallowed hard, and he smiled.

“See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?”

A flurry of wind rushed past him, and Aventurine suddenly found himself flipped onto his stomach with Ratio’s hands grabbing him by the waist and pulling him back until Aventurine was bent over and on his knees — a firm hand pressed onto Aventurine’s back until Aventurine was arching at a certain angle.

How surprising, this position.

Aventurine’s stomach twisted, almost excitedly, as he felt the piercing stare on his back. What was it? Annoyance? Irritation? Anger?

(what did Ratio look like?)

Aventurine cracked out a raspy tease and attempted to look back.

“I never thought the doctor would enjoy such an obscene positio—”

Forget that. Forget even talking in the first place too.

Not when the words got wrangled out into incoherent messes of moans when Aventurine felt Ratio sinking all the way back inside.

Ahh—!”

Ratio’s name shamelessly fell out of Aventurine’s mouth, collapsing into the pillows with drool slicking the fabric and his mind going into a blank frenzy.

“You didn’t think I was done yet, did you?” Ratio whispered against his ear — meant to be a taunt, yet so heavy,

like those times when they stood together,

regardless of how crowded or empty the room was,

when they would lean into each other and

whisper like the words were only

meant for them.

(like it was just them.)

“Was this what you wanted me to do?”

It was.

Was it?

The question echoed faintly in his head as Ratio grabbed onto his arms to pull him up and hold him. Aventurine didn’t say anything — didn’t answer the question as all he could do was moan Ratio’s name and draw his hips back to meet Ratio’s thrusts.

“What did you want me to call you, huh?

You think I’d call you someone else’s name?

That I was unaware of who I’m in this bed with, right now?

Did you really think every single thing I have said to you was a lie?

Aventurine replied with a ragged whimper, breathlessly sobbing as Ratio cupped his jaw and turned his head until he caught the sun gazing at him, boring red-golden eyes into him.

“You are so beautiful and so frustrating all at the same time it’s unfair.

Unfair?

Aventurine’s lungs clenched tight, his chest aching intensely as Ratio bit down at his lip, trailing a tongue at it until they opened their mouths to find each other into a messy, starved kiss.

“You’re—the one who’s frustr…ating!” Aventurine uttered, struggling under the intense shudders as his hand blindly dug his nails into the firm arm now wrapped around him. And he hoped that it hurt. “You don’t get to talk about love when you’re—like this— stupid, drunk, and...!”

“And what? And what?

“And I have to be the one that remembers everything!

“So, if I remember everything tomorrow morning, will you finally believe me?

Will you,

Aventurine?

And for a moment,

Ratio’s arms wrapped around Aventurine closely,

Ratio’s warm lips trailing the same soft kisses onto Aventurine’s neck as the rhythm slowed — slowed down enough for Aventurine to breathe,

for Aventurine to realize the red-golden eyes gazing at him,

intense

yet

pleading.

(terribly

foolishly

in love with you.)

And Aventurine choked.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Aventurine rasped, voice wrecked as he tried pushing Ratio’s face away.

He wished Ratio kept on bruising him in rough bitemarks — kept on being that animalistic, angry man he was just moments ago. But instead of roughing him up and aggressively manhandling him like Aventurine hoped he would, Ratio gently grasped Aventurine’s hand to hold onto it.

Aventurine gasped, shivering at every kiss pressed warmly on his body, his face, his neck, his shoulders,

at every touch Ratio left as Ratio glided his hands, his fingers, along Aventurine’s reddened body,

at every reassurances made when Ratio captured him into another kiss, slowly thrusting deep into Aventurine as their bodies pressed against each other to feel each other’s boiling heat,

tenderness,

pleasures,

fantasies,

sweet…

(somethings.)

“You’re—going to make me insane…”

Good, because that’s what you make me feel every day. Everything about you drives me insane.” Ratio murmured, and he kissed Aventurine’s shoulder.

“There’s no one else in this universe that can make me feel the way you make me feel.”

Aventurine lost it — his voice, body crying with those words ringing in his ears as he tightened and squeezed around Ratio’s cock that had been kissing his prostate endlessly this entire night.

“Ratio, I’m gonna…!”

“Go ahead.

Come with me. Come with me.

Please.

Please.

Let me hold you just like this.

Aventurine.

Please.”

(please?

you’re already holding me like this)

But those words only came out as a breathless noise, spilling climax once again on the sheets as Aventurine felt Ratio pulsing inside of him,

ragged groans and wrecked moans catching into each other’s mouths as they slowly rode through the sensations of pleasure washing through them,

their arms becoming entangled until they were melting.

“Can I hold you like this, Aventurine?” Ratio whispered, panting heavily when their lips broke apart, but barely hovered above each other. Please?

Aventurine gazed at him with half-lidded eyes, swallowing hard as his hands rested on top of Ratio’s arms that wrapped around him in an embrace — studying the ways the red shades painted Ratio’s face,

the ways that Ratio’s eyes, despite the intoxication, had remained focused,

unwavering,

staying

on him.

“You’re already holding me like this.”

[It was a night to remember]

Aeons.

That was the first thought when he peeled his groggy eyes open, a pang in his head making him groan as the textures of the ceiling struggled to clarify itself.

After a minute of calibrating his senses, Ratio pushed his body to sit up and hunch over — the fatigue weighing him down as he turned to see a certain blonde gambler sitting on the bed, well-dressed with a smile.

“Good morning. Did you have a good sleep?”

Ratio huffed, rubbing his eyes and pinching the mild anguish within bridge of his nose. “I’m not drinking that much ever again.”

Aventurine laughed, amused.

“That’s a good idea. After all, you were pretty far gone after — what… seven shots of spiked vodka?”

“Don’t remind me.”

Another laugh. “Well if it makes you feel better, I booked the hotel for two nights, meaning you can sleep off your hangover to your heart’s content. How about it?”

Ratio knitted his brows at Aventurine,

staring at the expression that remained amicable.

“What happened?”

“At the restaurant? I don’t know what you did, but your assistant called me to get you.”

“And then what else?”

Aventurine shrugged lightly.

“Nothing. You passed out after I took you here.”

Really?

Aventurine widened his eyes and sharply hitched his breath when Ratio suddenly moved the collar of his shirt, revealing all of the marks that scattered and painted all over his skin.

Aventurine faltered, croaking a sound until he realized what that knowing look meant on Ratio’s face when he studied the marks. Then, he narrowed his eyes.

“If you remembered, why did you ask?”

“And why did you lie?”

A scoff as Aventurine tore his eyes away. “Give me some slack. It’s a little embarrassing to say that you railed me like an animal.”

Thankfully, that provoked some ounce of sympathy for Ratio to grumble as he released the shirt to retract his hand away. “Fine.”

Aventurine sighed in exasperation, shifting away to tidy his collar again as he heard Ratio ask:

“Do you believe me now?”

Aventurine’s fingers faltered.

“I don’t remember what you said,” Aventurine said blankly, uselessly pinching the wrinkle out of the fabric. But as he turned his head, Aventurine’s heart nearly leapt at the sudden distance when Ratio leaned close to him — inches away.

“Do you want me to remind you what I said then?”

Aventurine’s heart hammered.

“Do I believe that even a composed man like you can go crazy after a couple of drinks? Yes. I wholeheartedly believe that.”

Ratio’s brows furrowed intensely, and he opened his mouth to say something until Aventurine planted a hand onto his mouth to interrupt him.

“Listen. I’m not one to care or pry about what you do, but,” Aventurine hesitated, “purely to satiate my curiosity, why did you get drunk last night?”

There was a beat before Aventurine allowed Ratio to answer.

“Normally, both of us would’ve gone out yesterday for dinner, but with your trip and then you working overtime, we hadn’t seen each other in a while. So, I accepted a work dinner invitation with the intentions to stay for only a couple of hours. But those guys started to drink like idiots and pressured someone to drink, so I stepped in and took their place.”

Aventurine raised a brow, confused.

“Taking someone’s stead? Couldn’t you have scold them?”

It was Ratio’s turn to hesitate and tear his gaze away.

“I could’ve.

But I don’t know why,

I just felt like drinking was some way to help pass the time.”

Aventurine squinted. “Pass the time to… what?

“To...

see you.”

Aventurine gaped as Ratio turned back to him with a firm expression — firm, collected, and sober.

Which confused Aventurine even more as the fresh memories of the opposite version of Ratio flashed in his head. “So, then may I ask why is it that when I ask you to get drunk, you refuse?”

A falter as Ratio opened his mouth. Closed it.

Then opened it again.

“Because I wanted to be present in our conversations.”

Aventurine’s eyes widened, holding his breath as Ratio shifted closer, brushing his fingertips on his cheek until he tucked a blonde strand behind Aventurine’s ear.

A warmth tinged the tip of Aventurine’s ear as Ratio exhaled quietly.

“Everything I said is true last night — my feelings for you, that is. Although admittedly, I was… hoping to tell you in some other way.”

“What exactly do you mean by that?”

“I mean that,” Ratio’s voice lowered into a murmur. “I wished I’d at least planned things out more carefully. And when I was in a more… stable state.”

Stable state.

Aventurine wasn’t sure whether or not he should laugh at that — although a breathy scoff escaped instead as Aventurine pressed his fingers against Ratio’s lips.

(And he couldn’t ignore the way it burned.)

“Well,” Aventurine’s voice cracked for a moment, thanks to the sudden stuttering from his heart, before he cleared his throat. “Well…

Aventurine wasn’t sure what to say either, he realized.

This time, it wasn’t an inebriated man spouting random nonsense, but the ol’ and uptight Veritas Ratio he remembered very, very well.

And that right now, Ratio — the sober one —

remembered everything.

(If I remember everything tomorrow morning,

will you finally believe me?)

Finally, Aventurine laughed.

“You really know how to throw me for a loop.”

Ratio gave a confused look as Aventurine pulled his fingers away to make a noisy stretch.

“I have to say—you were a huge handful last night. Especially with your… crazy stamina. Although, it was fun to see you act the way you did. As for the things you said…” Aventurine smiled, and he reached to casually pet the top of Ratio’s bed hair. “Who would’ve thought you’d make those clingy, emotional drunk confessions.”

This was all purely banter to get a reaction, and so he received one — stifling the urge to laugh at the doctor who gawked and looked like he was short-circuiting.

“Maybe next time, we can talk over dinner where we can be in our right minds and—”

Right as Aventurine stood up from the bed, a hand grabbed him quickly — making him look over to see Ratio with an uncharacteristically (amusing) panicked and exasperated look.

“I meant it. Everything.”

Everything?

Ratio nodded, grasping tighter onto Aventurine’s hand.

And Aventurine didn’t brush it away —

the intentions to make him stay

(though, Aventurine wasn’t exactly planning on leaving anyway.)

Aventurine hummed softly, leaning down to brush the pad of his finger along Ratio’s lip.

That you’re terribly and foolishly in love?

“For you, yes.” Ratio whispered, gazing at Aventurine, who leaned down further.

“Do you want me to stay?”

“I do.”

“Anything else you want?"

“I want to hold you, and

I want to kiss you.

I want to do so many things with you.

I…

I want you,

and I want you to believe me.

Please.

“Maybe, for the last part.”

Aventurine teased quietly as he sat on top of Ratio’s lap, feeling Ratio’s hands on his waist as Aventurine cupped both of Ratio’s face to kiss a smile on Ratio’s parted lips. “If you count to a hundred and twenty again, I’ll consider a date with you today.”

Ratio’s eyes went wide, and Aventurine laughed when he felt Ratio’s cheeks reddening.

“What? Too much for you?” Aventurine joked, about to move his hands away until Ratio quickly shook his head and pressed his face further into the palms.

“No—no. I’ll… I’ll count.” Ratio breathed quietly. “I’ll count for as long as you want me to.”

Aventurine hummed, and he kissed underneath the red-golden eyes.

“Then…

One.”

“Two.”
