„Hey there, rat", Yondu greets Rocket.
The girl, Meredith Quill, beside the raccoon looks at him, doesn't even feel fear, like strangers would feel it in the moment.
„Hey Grandpa Yondu! You will never believe who we met today", Meredith says to her grandfather figure, while he comes walking to them with his own crew.
She stands meanwhile beside Rocket Raccoon and Groot in the forest of the planet they landed hours ago. She walks to him and smiles innocently. The man knows the girl looks like an angel, but can be a demon when someone presses the wrong button on her.
„Really, kid? Who did you met today?", Yondu asks her.
The man has a soft heart for the blonde girl, after he saw her growing up. He sees her innocently smile, but also the skepticism in Rocket's eyes. It's obvious that they met someone Yondu never wanted them to meet.
„Dad's father, Ego", Meredith responds. Yondu's face fades for an moment. That is the last person he wanted them to meet, even when he and Peter were distancing themselves from each other currently.
„How's it going, you blue idiot?", Rocket asks Yondu calm and watches him and his damn arrow.
„Not so bad", Yondu responds, but his eyes are still on the girl, his mind on her words, especially the name, Ego, „We got ourselves a pretty good little gig here. This golden gal with quite a high opinion of herself has offered us a large sum to deliver you and your pals over to her, because she wants you dead."
„I don't want to interrupt your nice speech about letting him getting killed by the golden bitch, old man. But dad and the others are not even on this planet", Meredith says to him and put her hands in the pockets of her coat, a red one that looks like the old one of her father, just in her size.
She looks in shock as the red control on Yondu's head get shoot down. The man falls down. Behind him is Nebula with her gun.
„Wasn't she supposed to be with Groot?", Meredith asks Rocket.
„Yes... he obviously let her free", Rocket says. Nebula looks at the raccoon, before she also shoots at him.
„Rocket!", Meredith yells, as he goes also to the ground. She stares angry at Nebula, but holds her hands up in the air to capitulate. She doesn't want to end up like Yondu and Rocket. She knows that it hurts like hell.
„Well, hello, child", Nebula says and looks at her, before she looks to Yondu's men, „Hello, boys.
„Such a bitch...", Meredith mutters under breath and looks at her. She knows that the men wouldn't touch her, they all know that she isn't a simple child. But Nebula has no clue about it. So she looks for her just like a normal young teenager.
„Bring them on the ship", Nebula says. The men pick up Yondu and Rocket, but no one of them touches Meredith. She walks silent behind the men who carrie Yondu's body.
„You guys know, that this will not end well, for no one here", Meredith says calm, „You are kidnapping currently three members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Nova Corp will not like it, when they find out", Meredith warns the men. Not because she feels pity, no most of them a brainless and dumb in her opinion.
„You are just a child", Nebula says calm as they enter the ship.
They tie Yondu and Rocket on a chair and lock Groot in a bird cage. Meredith watches them, how they float many of their own men, which are followed Yondu's lead over the years.
Meredith watches the scene from her cell, doesn't say anything to their act. She watches Nebula coming in, leans back.
„When you kill them all, the Nova Corp will come. So stop this", Nebula responds, „Bring them together in the child's cell. They are wanted with high bounty counts. I want ten percent of the money."
The men listen to her, put Yondu, Rocket and Groot in the cell to Meredith.
„We bring you to the Krees, tomorrow."
She watches them. Yondu hasn't said a word since he woke up. Groot comes to her and climbs up on to her shoulders.
„Great... dad plays ball with his father or what ever he and Ego do, while I am here with the most chaotic people in the universe", Meredith says and leans back, „I should have go with him, even when he doesn't wanted me to go with them, till he knows more." Rocket looks at Yondu.
„Nothing against you, but your employees are idiots", Rocket says to Yondu.
„I was a Kree battle slave for 20 years when Stacker freed me", Yondu tells them, „He offered me a place with the Ravagers. He said all I need to do was adhere to the code. But I was young and greedy, and stupid. Like you guys stealing those batteries from the golden lady."
„That was Drex", Meredith responds dryly and leans on the wall behind her. Yondu sighs and watches the girl and the raccoon.
„Me and Stakar and the other captains... we weren't so different from you and your friends", Yondu say. It feels for Meredith like a story time with grandpa, while she listens to his stories, like as little girl in the past.
„They were the only family I ever had. When I broke the code... they exiled me. This is what I deserved", Yondu says.
„Slow down, drama queen", Rocket interrupts him and gets up, „You might deserve this, but I don't and also not the kid. We gotta get outta here."
„Where is Quill?", Yondu asks them, forgot that Meredith told him who they met before he found them.
„He went off with his old man", Rocket says.
„Ego?"
„Yeah, I already told you we met him today", Meredith says calm and looks at him.
„Its a day for dumbass names", Rocket says and sighs about it.
Yondu begins to chuckle, something that worries Meredith more as when he would get mad about this.
„You are smiling and for a second, I got a warm feeling", Rocket comments the moment, „But then it was ruined by those disgusting-ass teeth." Meredith sighs and pinches her nose.
„You like a professional asshole or what?", Yondu asks back.
„He is a pro in it", Meredith comments and sighs about it.
„Why didn't you deliver Quill to Ego like you promised?", Rocket asks Yondu.
„He was skinny, like his own kid today. He could fit into places we couldn't. Good for thieving", the man answers. Rocket and Meredith doesn't believe him. There must be more, something he hides.
„What was it really?", Meredith asks him.
„I got an idea on how to get outta here", Yondu says to change the subject. Meredith looks at him silent.
„You mean my powers, right?", she asks him sighing. Meredith stands up, Groot still on her shoulders, safe and cute. He hides between her hair, only his head looking out.
„Yes, your light blades", Yondu answers. She nods and gets up, she starts to create a small light blade. The light bright in her hands.
„Good girl", Yondu says.
A moment later falls the back up control for Yondu's arrow before her feats. Meredith looks up and looks into Kraglin's face. She is surprised to see him and that he brought fin for the Yaka-arrow.
„I didn't mean to do a mutiny", Kraglin says and looks over to Yondu, his voice breaking as he continues to speak, „They have killed all my friends."
Yondu looks at him for a moment.
„Get the third quadrant ready for release", Yondu orders. Kraglin knocked his fist two times against his chest, wanting to leave.
„One more thing", Meredith says to him, „You got any clones of dad's old music on the ship?" They all look irritated at her, sure that this will end worse.
Meredith smirks and looks at Rocket.
„Help the old man with his fin", she says.
„You are the devil in disguise", Yondu says with an smirk while Rocket put the fin on his head.
„That's why you love me more than my father", Meredith says smirking and walks out with them. Yondu whistles all the way, killing all the traitors of the Ravagers on their way to the third quadrant. Meredith creates a light that shoots small knifes out of it, hitting the ones that Yondu hasn't killed.
„You are absolutely my favorite child", Yondu says amused, knowing Peter would lose his mind to see his daughter doing this beside him. She listens to the old music in the back and smirks.
They walk relaxed to the observation room.
Yondu whistles and controls his arrow, killing everyone who betrayed them. Meredith watches it on the footage, till he turns his arrow into fire and blow up the ship. She watches it.
„What have you done?", Meredith asks in shock.
„You maniac!", Rocket says mad, „You will blow up the complete ship." They watch the fire at the footage.
„Not the complete ship", Yondu says and calls the Yaka-arrow back. Meredith looks at him.
„But almost the complete one", she responds dry, following him through the corridors. They walk in the third quadrant where Kraglin is activating everything already.
„Release the quadrant!", Yondu orders.
„Aye, Captain!", Kraglin says and walks over, pulls the switch. Meredith takes a seat and looks at the programs that everything runs right.
„Where to, Captain?", Kraglin asks.
„Ego", Rocket answers without looking up.
„No, boy!", Yondu denies and looks at them. Meredith looks up.
„But what is with dad?", Meredith asks him serious.
„It ain't healthy for a mammalian body to hop more than 50 jumps at a time", Yondu says serious as they make their way, jump through worm holes. Meredith holds on her seat and feels fuzzy. That wasn't healthy. Absolutely not.
„I know", Rocket responds calm.
„We are about to do 700!", Yondu says.
„I hate you guys all", Meredith mutters, but want her father back, „We are going to die, before even reach the 50th jump." Meredith scream like all of them, holds her face as it feels like it changes the form. She feels sick while all the jumps.
She stops screaming as they end in front of the red planet, Ego. Meredith groans and falls from her seat.
„Are you alive?", she asks everyone.
„Yes."
„I think so."
„I am unsure, but yes!"
Yondu looks to Rocket, angry.
„What the hell you doing, boy?", he asks the Raccoon mad.
„I could tell by how you talked about him this Ego is bad news", Rocket answers and stands up, „We're here to save Quill."
„For what? Huh? For honor? For love?", Yondu asks angry.
„No, I don't care about those things", Rocket answers.
„For making me not to an orphan?", Meredith asks sarcastic and walks over to them, her legs still shaking.
„I want to save Quill so I can prove I'm better than him", Rocket answers, „I can lord this over him forever."
Meredith looks annoyed.
„That's your only motivation? You are worse!", Meredith says angry and looks mad, „You are talking about my father!"
Yondu starts laughing about both of them.
„What are you laughing at me for?", Rocket asks him.
„You can fool yourself and everyone else, but you can't fool me. I know who you are", Yondu says to Rocket and walks to the window, watching the planet.
„You don't know anything about me, loser!", Rocket argues.
„I know everything about you! I know you play like you're the meanest and the hardest but actually you're the most scared of all", Yondu says serious and turn back to them.
„Shut up!"
„I know you steal batteries you don't need and you push away anyone who's willing to put up with you because just a little bit of love... reminds you how big and empty that hole inside you actually is", Yondu speaks louder and faster to Rocket. Meredith looks pity at both and their talk.
„Shut up! Both of you", Meredith yells loud before anyone can say something hurtful.
Yondu turns to Meredith.
„Come kid", Yondu says and pulls her with him. Meredith follows.
„What is your plan?", she asks him. Rocket follows.
„Yondu, what are you planning with the child?", Rocket asks.
„Protecting Quill's offspring", Yondu says, „And the universe." He looks to Rocket.
„Peter will be angry and Meredith will not understand it now. She is to young. But Ego is the smallest danger to them", Yondu answers him.
„What? What are you doing?", Meredith asks as Yondu as he brings her to the ships.
„Your daddy and you are special, kiddo. You even more than him", Yondu answers, „Bad people are trying to buy you."
„Why? What du you mean?", Meredith says. He pushes her in a capsule and closes it. Meredith knocks against it, punches against it.
„Let me out!", she screams at him.
„You can't send her away", Rocket says, „Quill will never forgive you, she is the most worthy thing for him in the galaxy!"
„That's why I do it, so he doesn't lose her completely", Yondu says and programs the coordinates from outside, blocks her from the system so she can't change the coordinates.
„Let me out, Yondu!", Meredith screams. She makes a light blade and tries to cut the glass, but nothing works.
„I am sorry kid, but one day you will understand", Yondu says, before he pushes the button that releases the capsule. Meredith punches still the glass, watching how her ship starts jumping through space, unknown where she will end up.
