Chapter Text
"I got Jack." Paintbrush shakes Fan so hard he gets dizzy. "I got Jack! God- and it's my senior year I thought I would never get a lead." Paintbrush stands in-front of the bulletin board outside the cafeteria in awe. Sure, other people were trying to see, but they could wait.
"Yeah, Paintbrush. Look under your name." Fan holds back a snicker, knowing not only that he needed to support his friend during this, but also that they would beat his ass.
Silver Spoon - Katherine Plumber
"Silver? Are you kidding me?!" This is what makes Paintbrush back away, allowing for other members of the drama club to search for their names. "I am not pretending to be in love with Silver. I may be an actor, but I'm not that good."
"Hey, maybe Silver doesn't want Katherine." Fan says, trying to relieve some pressure.
Paintbrush and Silver Spoon had always had pressure on them. Which is why one may consider them rivals. Every year they fought for lead roles, and every year only Silver got one. Sure, he was talented. But he was also a bitch. Nobody could talk to him without hearing about what good of an actor or singer he was, how he was the soprano section leader. It wasn't surprising he got the role of Katherine, but it was surprising Paintbrush didn't see their name under a comedic relief character.
"Are you kidding me? He's gonna take the role, and parade it around like he just won a Tony. Just like he did last year with Regina George."
"And then the year before that with Olive in Spelling Bee." Fan pipes up.
"Yeah, I know he gets a lot of leads, Fan!" Paintbrush sighs, runs a hand through their hair, and looks around for Silver. "Where is he? I'm surprised I don't hear that annoying giddy sound he makes."
"He's probably already asking for the script."
"Fan, he might already be off-book."
They both laugh, and then head to biology.
That's when they spot Silver.
He was wearing a denim skirt and an Era's Tour T-Shirt. He had a huge smile plastered on his face as he parades around singing "Watch What Happens."
He was getting towards the end when he spots Paintbrush. "Oh, It's my Jack! Honestly, not who I was expecting. But I suppose as long as I'm Katherine the show will be..decent."
Paintbrush's eyes narrow and they give Silver a good look up and down. He ruined any good feelings they had about the role. Just thinking about what they would have to do on stage made them squirm in displeasure.
"Sure it will." Paintbrush tries to hold a conversation, but talking to Silver felt like nails against a chalkboard, even when he wasn't speaking. They didn't know if he felt the same way, and they honestly didn't care. They knew Silver was too egotistical and proud to care about anything except his very own well-being.
"Well, I'll see you around." Silver says, his voice thick with I don't want to be speaking to you.
Paintbrush waits until he and Fan step away until he mocks Silver, doing that agitating whiny voice. It was surprisingly accurate.
"God, I hate theater." Paintbrush mutters.
