Chapter Text
Sapphire had been yelling out commands when it happened,
One moment he’s Sapphire,
One of Four Princes of the Demon Kingdom,
Leading his officers through an army Exercise
And then the next he’s Blue, Hero of Hyrule.
His commands stopping short as the memory of the others returns,
Green, their steadfast leader willing to make the tough decisions and stand tall,
Vio, their idea guy with the most cunning of them all,
Red, their emotional support, showering them with love and heart.
The other pieces of his soul…. Her soul?
A panic fills his twisting mind;
As the memories of their past adventure fill her head
Clashes against the assholes he's currently forced to work with.
Are they Red, Green and Vio
Or Ruby, Emerald and Amethyst?
His commanders look to her for guidance
As her head keeps spinning in a search for answers.
She can feel the burn on her shoulder from her last fight with Ruby,
Amethyst broke his fingers just a week ago for taking an antique book,
And Emerald’s stupid blade scarring her shoulder from a deep stab wound in between.
Sapphire’s second in command takes easy control of the exercise,
As Blue turns from the army to search for “them”,
Images of himself chipping Red’s teeth (so many times) with a punch to the face,
Holding Vio down with her boot as she raises a hammer to slam down onto him,
Swinging her Claymore into Green’s side with no mercy.
She couldn’t have done that to them.
She’s always had anger issues but not to that extent.
What happened?
And how did it get to the point
Of them all fighting so viciously…
Fighting as if to kill the other.
Her mind still lost in the haze
As she walks among the hallways of the castle.
She needs to get it together but she can’t
Fear races through her veins as frustration of the situation leaks out.
His fist flying into a wall
Before her mind even recognizes she wants to.
Cracks lining the bricks
Snaking out from her bruising fist.
He didn’t mean that.
She didn’t even want to do that.
It was just a single moment of thought.
Nothing more, and yet now her knuckles bleed.
Blue’s fears compound as everything just gets worse and worse,
Before like a sun rise brings hope
Vio turns the corner near him.
“Vio!” Blue yells, desperate for something familiar.
Vio doesn’t even look back,
Just giving an annoyed huff before responding with,
“I thought we all agreed to only go by our titles, *Sapphire*?
Also, if you don’t bring me that overdue book I’m coming for your hand next.”
And with a flair of his cape
Amethyst continues on his way.
Leaving Blue aghast before she’s running for the other.
“Wait, you pompous Dick!”
Catching up to the other she grabs Vio’s violet cape
Stopping the man with a jerk to his neck.
“I have things to do today, Sapphire; unlike you.
Unless you want to lose to me again in front of our King?”
Blue's frustration rising at the snippy comments
And backhanded insults.
“No, but I do wanna know if you’ve had any weird memories lately.
Or are you too high and mighty to answer a simple question?” Blue snips back.
Vio finally stops, taking a deep breath before turning to Blue,
“No. You know as well as I that we lost our memories during a raid from the Hylians.
Unless …. Are your memories coming back, Sapphire?”
The inquisitive nature of the other piece of his soul
Not able to be stopped by even a loss of his memory.
The relief Blue feels at Vio being Vio
Tears the stress from her chest.
Her shoulders relaxing as the panic leaves her.
“Yes. I remember stuff. It felt like we were once important to each other,
Or it really felt more like we were all part of one soul.”
Vio’s face screws up in disgust
As Blue chuckles at seeing Vio’s:
“That makes no sense. Why are you speaking this blasphemy in front of me?” face
“I know it makes no sense Vi but….
It feels right.”
“It feels like there’s something missing.
I have memories of us being antagonistic but not this bad.
Memories of us all fighting together.
Of us succeeding against all odds.
Of us coming together to save the day.”
Visions of success and proud grins
Replaced with vicious mocking
And blood tinged smirks
Again and again,
Blue sees herself being hurt or one of the others hurt by her.
“Which makes what I’ve done to you three horrifying…
I don’t want to hurt you guys.
I never have.
I don’t understand why I continued….
Why I fought like I wanted you all dead. “
Blue's arms crossing over her chest in a parody of a hug,
While her thoughts swirled to the memories
That disturb her the most
The ones that will become her nightmares.
Red’s snarl under her face as her hands wrap around his throat.
Vio’s limp body after Blue had thrown him into a wall.
Green’s fear laden eyes as Blue raises her Claymore high.
More and more memories of hurt and pain and almost death.
Again and Again and Again.
Blue’s pulled out of the blood soaked memories
By awkward arms wrapped around her torso.
“I don’t remember any of this. I don’t …. I believe you, Sap-Blue.”
“Only you would still have the most awkward hugs in existence, Vio.”
“Excuse you, I don’t need to be good at hugging. That's Red’s job.”
Vi jokes back with no thought to it,
An old joke brought to new memories.
As signs of Vio’s memories still being there brings smiles,
“We’ll get them back.
Even if I have to tell you them all.”
A promise between two quarters of the same soul.
