Chapter Text
Sometime before the events of Superman 2025
The room was dark, quiet, and still, feeling more like a tomb than a bedroom. The being laying in the cold bed might as well have been a corpse himself as his mind seemed to outright refuse to wind down. It wouldn’t be the first time a restless night was had, and he knew it wouldn’t be the last. However, something about the way his mind trapped him in a state of consciousness with its unrelenting focus on just how empty the bed was riled him up inside. Deep longing followed by loneliness was aching in his chest. That aching quickly turned into a burning as his mind immediately went to the first thing he thought of to distract himself and hopefully get some sleep. His hand wandered down from behind his head to his stomach under the thick, velvety comforter. He rested his hand there for a moment in contemplation, realizing it was a mistake as he started wondering what he was even doing as he scolded his own mind for being foolish enough to consider such things. Then again…the thought of reaching his phone to browse explicit videos sounded much worse.
Am I really about to…no…there has to be another way…something else I can think about… He thought, getting frantic as the thoughts of Superman invaded his mind just as that alien invaded his planet. That reporter…what was his name? Clark, I think… He smirked to himself as he pictured the man he was interviewed by a handful of times for the Daily Planet. Clark Kent: young, impressively fit, good at his job, but an incredibly clumsy man all together. He’s…charming…oddly so…but… The thoughts of the flying god humanity revered refused to be ignored or extinguished by a mere attractive reporter, leaving him with two options: call for the person he desires…or lose another night of sleep. He rolled over to grab his phone, seeing his reflection in the black screen ever so faintly in the dark, making him scowl, for he was looking at Alexander “Lex” Luthor: scientist, engineer, genius, but an incredibly detached man from the world around him.
With a glare, Lex tapped the screen with his thumb to illuminate it. The clock nestled in the dark, stormy clouds above the lightning-plagued landscape that made up his lockscreen read 12:04 A.M. and he groaned. He locked his phone and collapsed onto his back once more with his eyes shut tightly and his phone resting in his hand as it lay outstretched across the empty side of his enormous king-bed. Thinking about Superman as he pleased himself felt beneath Lex, but calling out for him wasn’t feeling much better. What else was he supposed to do? What else could he do? The seconds turned into minutes, albeit agonizingly so, as the storm inside Lex’s mind tormented him relentlessly until he finally gave in to his most basic desires; even if it was just to shut his own mind up in the end. With a sigh, Lex sat up in bed and turned the lights on with the push of a button on a small remote, grimacing as his eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness.
“I keep forgetting to use the dim setting…” Lex mutters to himself as he rubs his eyes to aid in their adjustment. He glanced over at the closet door with a glare and got out of bed, practically dragging his own feet to his destination across the room. I can’t believe I’m actually doing this… He thinks to himself as he slips his arms into the silk sleeves of his black bath robe. What’s worse is I’m actually hoping he’ll show up. Lex wanders over to his balcony as if being tugged along by some invisible string and opens the large, sliding glass door.
The cool, crisp autumn air enveloped his face and arms as he exited the comfort of his bedroom and out into the night. The view over Metropolis was magnificent, a view he often took in, but rarely appreciated. Tonight, however, he decided to take the time to really look at the city’s night skyline. The Daily Planet building was at the perfect angle to be viewed comfortably from his penthouse, standing out as the perfect centerpiece of Lex’s little world in Metropolis.
After a moment of adjusting to the night air, Lex looked out into the distance as the hustle of the city continued on far below. “This is so stupid…” He mutters, rubbing the bridge of his nose with a disgruntled sigh. “Superman, I need help…” There was a pause before he muttered “...I feel idiotic…” under his breath. Another pause as he squinted in the darkness, waiting for a sound or even a change in air pressure—anything to signal that the alien had heard his plea…he was met with the silence of the stars. With a huff, Lex clutched the flaps of his robes and turned around, starting to head back inside. “I don’t know what I was thinking…” He whispered with dismay and disappointment, two things he figured he should be used to by then—when suddenly:
“Lex?” A familiar voice rang from behind him. The change in air pressure had arrived, followed by the softest gush of wind that barely grazed Lex’s skin. He turned, face slightly flushed from the surprise and slight embarrassment. There he was, the god himself: Superman, floating just a few inches off the balcony floor looking down at Luthor. His face was a mixture of genuine concern and confusion, but his bright blue eyes still managed to sparkle in the dark.
Lex leaned against the glass door with his arms crossed and a smug grin on his face. “You’re too easy to lure, Superman.”
Superman puts his hands on his hips with a gentle smirk of his own. “You say that like you can trap me, Lex.”
Lex turned to open the door, keeping his snarky attitude up. “I’m sure I could if I really wanted to.”
Superman playfully rolled his eyes as his boots finally touched the ground to follow behind Lex, muttering “Yeah…” to himself. “Why did you call for me?” He asked aloud after sliding the balcony door shut behind them. It took him a moment to realize he was in Lex’s bedroom and it made him a little flustered, but he remained as neutral to the setting as possible.
Fuck…what am I even supposed to say? I didn’t think this through…why does he have to look at me like that with that…stupid face? Lex thought to himself as he glanced back at Superman, who was looking at him with an expectant and still slightly concerned expression.
“Lex?” Superman asked again, growing more concerned by the second.
“I…uh…I called you here because I…needed…” Lex stammered, speaking slower than usual as he tried to process what he wanted as he spoke aloud.
Superman took a small step closer to him and placed his hand on his shoulder, trying to steady him. “Lex, are you alright?”
Just fucking say something. Do something! Anything! You’ve already been stupid enough to call him here. Lex’s mind spat at him, as if the critique of his own actions were that of a harsh, third-party observer. He looked Superman in the eyes for a brief moment, as if searching for a reason not to do what he was about to do. Suddenly, Lex closed the distance between them and kissed Superman on the lips forcefully.
Superman was stunned and a little startled, pushing Lex off of himself in hesitation as a deep blush started to form on his cheeks. “L-Lex, what are you-“
“Just shut up and kiss me again.” Lex demanded swiftly and sternly, cutting Superman off before moving in to kiss him again.
“W-wait, I thought you needed help-“ Superman tried to continue as he broke the kiss again, but didn’t push Lex away.
“I do.” Lex replied, cutting him off again. “This is what I need help with.”
Superman’s face flushed as he nervously put his arms around Luthor. “C-c’mon, Lex, you know this isn’t the kind of help I usually assist with…”
Lex kissed his neck to fluster him more. “I don’t care. You’re helping me tonight because I asked, because it’s in your nature to respond. I’m simply taking advantage of that.”
Superman felt the heat burn in his stomach and panicked a little, pushing Lex off of him again. Lex, feeling dejected by the reaction he received, crossed his arms and turned away to sneer at the floor, leaving the Kryptonian to take in a breath and attempt to process what Lex was asking of him.
“Lex?” He started gently, getting Luthor’s attention as he wordlessly looked at him once again. “I…I just need to know…” He rubbed the back of his neck. “You called out for help specifically…you know I would’ve shown up if you just…called…” He pulled Lex in a little closer, pressing their bodies together. “What I’m saying is…I can’t help you if…I don’t know what you need help with…”
Lex turned away from Superman completely, holding himself as he tried to manage his composure. “I need help…getting to sleep.”
Superman released a breath he didn’t realize he was holding as a huge amount of tension left his body. He approached Lex from behind and wrapped his arms around him tenderly, nuzzling his head against Lex’s. “I think I can be of assistance…”
Lex turned around and covered Superman’s mouth with his palm, glaring deep into his eyes. “If you breathe one word of this to anyone…”
Superman removed Lex’s hand gently. “I won’t.” He paused, deciding to hold Lex’s hand for as long as he would allow. “But…there’s something else I need to know.”
Lex glared at him. “What?”
“I want to say from the moment we met you’ve had a clear disdain for me. What’s changed your mind? And so…drastically?”
Lex scoffed. “My mind hasn’t changed. I just…have a curiosity.”
The blush had returned to the alien’s cheeks as he reached out to hold Lex again intuitively, smirking a little despite himself. “You have a curiosity?”
The heat in Lex’s cheeks also grew as he panicked over being asked to clarify. “W-would you still be here if you didn’t feel the same about me?”
Superman caressed Lex’s cheek, running his thumb over his soft skin. “I…can’t say that I would or wouldn’t…” He paused again, thinking over his next choice of words. “Did…you drink anything tonight?”
Lex’s eyes widened and he pulled himself away from his grasp in a huff. “No, why?”
Superman, despite himself, got nervous again as he tried to reclaim his composure. “C’mon, Lex-“
“What?” Lex asked defensively before Superman could finish.
“It’s just…I never thought that you-“
“What, that I like you? I don’t. Like I said, I just have needs.”
Superman couldn’t help himself as he smirked softly. “That’s not what you said earlier.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Earlier you said you had a curiosity. Now you’re saying it’s a need.” Superman closed the distance a little, attempting to hold Lex once again. “So…you need me, Lex?”
Lex narrowed his eyes as the blush on his face intensified ten fold. “Wipe that stupid, smug grin off your stupid, smug face.”
Superman leaned in a little closer, getting just a hint more smug. “Or what?”
Lex’s glare worsened for a moment before he sighed and looked away. “Look, just…this is hard enough for me already, okay…?”
Superman’s smugness faded away instantly, replaced with concern once more. “Lex…what’s going on?” He let Lex go, watching as he sat on the edge of the bed and held his head in his hands. Feeling there wasn’t much else he could do, he walked over and sat down next to him in comfort.
Lex looked up at him and opened his mouth to say something, but sighed in frustration instead. “Do you have an actual name or anything I can call you by?”
“It’s Cl-“ Superman started to respond, catching himself just in time and cleared his throat to try to pass it off. “It’s Kal-El but…just Kal is fine.”
“Kal-El…interesting…” Lex answered in a moment of honesty before catching himself. “Y-y’know, for an alien and all…”
Kal chuckled. “You know…you’re allowed to compliment me.”
Lex glared in return, his blush remaining. “That’s easy for you to say…”
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing…I just can’t believe I’m actually sitting here talking to you…”
Kal chuckled again. “What’s so unbelievable about that?”
“You’re…you.” Lex replied with a scoff.
Kal let out a gentle laugh. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Are you going to make me spell it out for you?” Lex asked, getting nothing but an expectant look in return, making Lex roll his eyes. He glanced back at the Kryptonian again, seeing that his expression remained the same, reminding him of a puppy that was promised a treat. “Stop looking at me like a love-sick puppy, it’s…” He blushed and glared to himself as he trailed off. “I can't believe I’m talking to you because…you’re…you’re Superman.”
“So?”
“So…it’s…a lot…” Lex glanced over at Kal again whose eyes were still very easy to get lost in and flustered himself. “I still don’t like you…”
Kal chuckled once more. “C’mon, Lex…” He scooted a little closer so their sides brushed up against each other. “Clearly you have to like me a little bit.”
“I don’t ‘have to’ anything.”
Kal leaned in with a gentle smile. “It’s okay to like me.”
Lex leaned back a little with a deep blush. “You? A metahuman?” He scoffed. “You wish, Kal.”
Kal cupped Lex’s cheek, gently guiding him back toward him, making Lex’s blush return. “I don’t have to wish for that, Lex. Do you honestly expect me to believe you genuinely hate me?”
Lex’s face burned red as he stared into Kal’s eyes, getting lost in the oceans for a moment longer than he would’ve liked. He didn’t have an answer, not one he could put into words, but he needed to get rid of the tension that was just dropped into his lap. Without a moment longer to think about it or talk himself out of it, Lex quickly leaned forward and kissed Kal, holding them in place.
Kal kept his hand on Lex’s cheek, but raggedly moved his other hand to the small of his back. The sudden touch made Lex tense up and Kal gently caressed his cheek with his thumb before breaking the kiss. “Are you alright?” He asked quietly, moving his hand away from Luthor’s back.
Lex exhaled through his nose. “Yeah, I'm fine.”
Kal, possibly against his better judgement at the time, gained a burst of confidence and grabbed onto Lex, gently pulling him into his lap before wrapping his arms around him in a tight hug.
Lex was stunned and froze, unsure of what to even think about what was currently happening. “K-Kal, what are you-”
“I just…want you to know you can trust me…” Kal stated gently, being the one to cut Luthor off for once.
Lex hesitated to hug him back. “I…want to believe you…”
Kal tightened his grip on Luthor just a little. “Then believe me…”
Lex buried his face in Kal’s neck and shoulder without saying another word. Kal, accepting of Luthor’s silence, simply leaned against his head. Lex didn’t allow the simple affection to last long as he began to kiss Kal’s neck and teasingly nip at his flesh. Kal sighed longingly and leaned into the attention as he moved his hands down Luthor’s sides, resting them on his waist. Lex tensed up again and froze completely, leaving his face buried against Kal’s skin.
“Lex…are you sure you want this?” Kal asked sincerely, his worry starting to show once more. “I don’t want you to feel like you have to-”
“I’m fine.” Why does he even care if I feel forced or not? Luthor wondered. I’m the one who started this in the first place, why does it matter to him? As Kal started to move his hands away, Lex suddenly grabbed his wrists roughly to hold them in place and muttered with a gruff edge to his voice “Don’t…”
Kal wordlessly took Lex’s lead and held onto his hips a little tighter, pulling him down just a little harder onto his lap.
Lex couldn’t help himself as he groaned. “Fuck…” He pressed himself against Kal, holding one hand against his back under the cape while the other ran up the back of his neck. His fingers became entangled in his short, manicured hair as he hesitated to grip or pull.
Kal slipped his hands under the flaps of Lex’s robe, running them up his back and got a good feel of his spine and muscle groups. Lex, however, tensed up harder than he had since they started getting physical, forcing Kal to pull back. “You keep tensing like you’re bracing for pain.” He remarks, taking his hands out from under Lex’s robe to gently hold his shoulders. “You’re not…afraid I’m going to hurt you, are you…?”
Instead of responding to such an accusatory question, Lex grabbed Kal’s face and forced him into another kiss. He shoved his tongue into the alien’s mouth as soon as the opportunity arose, but Kal didn’t stop him. He merely groaned into the new and sudden sensation. He thinks I’m afraid of him hurting me? Lex pondered. That’s ridiculous…physical pain can be handled. Physical pain fades away. Lex finally breaks the kiss, allowing the two of them to breathe, looking into Kal’s eyes and getting met with nothing but sincerity. He won’t hurt me…not if I hurt him first.
Kal’s concern once again swelled back to where it was when he first arrived as he noticed Lex was almost…studying him. “Lex?” He grabbed Luthor’s face tenderly, getting his full attention. “You’re shaking…”
I am…? I didn’t even notice… Lex thought. I’m not afraid of him…I know he wouldn’t hurt me…if he were lying, I’d see it…so why am I shaking…? Why the hell am I shaking?!
A lack of response only worsened Kal’s unease. “Lex…? Please, talk to me…what’s going on?”
“Nothing, stop asking about me.” Lex answered quickly, almost too quickly to be understood properly.
He went in for another kiss, but was stopped by Kal as he pressed his hand against his chest defiantly. “I’m not going to ignore you shaking, Lex. You’re practically trembling…”
“I’m fine!” Lex snapped, gripping onto Kal’s suit to steady himself. “It’s called adrenaline, alien, heard of it?”
Kal furrowed his brow. “Are you sure…?”
“Stop asking so many questions. You’re starting to sound like that clumsy reporter that loves you so much.”
Was that…jealousy? Kal asked himself. No, it couldn’t be…it’s not like Lex…cares about people like that…yet…why does it sound like he cares about me…? He mindlessly moved his hands from Lex’s face and down his sides, making him shudder slightly. “Maybe…I’ve been spending too much time with Clark lately…it’s starting to rub off a little.”
Lex glared at Kal for a moment, but inevitably smirked. “If you spent more time with me, maybe some of my actual genius would rub off on you instead. Lord knows you need it.” He leaned in for a softer kiss, one much more tender and sensual than before. He started to grind his hips against Kal’s lap a little, feeling his arousal grow beneath him. As Kal moaned quietly into the kiss, Lex groaned in reply as he ground against him a little harder. Without breaking the kiss, Lex pushed Kal onto his back, keeping himself on top as the teasing continued.
Kal finally parted from Luthor’s soft lips and moved to kiss his neck as he lay on top of him. He started to shift and slightly buck his hips a little as he felt Lex’s own arousal start to show. Kal was losing himself and was unable to keep his thoughts to himself. “Lex…” He whispered, his hot breath making Luthor’s spine tingle. “You can be so soft and gentle when you want to be…” He let out a small, shaky breath. “I just wish I knew why you hide that part of yourself…”
Lex stifled his own moan by biting Kal’s neck instead. “Call me gentle again. I dare you.”
Kal simply hugs Lex once again. “You are gentle, Lex…you want to act like you’re not, but-”
“But nothing.” Luthor answered coldly as he sat up. “Don’t act like you know me.”
Kal sat up as well, but held onto Lex to keep him in his lap as he shifted and placed his hands on his waist. “I think I know you better than you realize…”
Lex shot him a devastating glare. “You don’t know anything about me.”
“I know that you want me here. I know that you called out for help to ensure I would show up.”
“That doesn’t mean you actually know me.” Lex growled. “You think you know what you’re already experiencing with me. You’re just pointing out the obvious, present circumstances. You don’t know me at all.”
Kal reached up and cupped Lex’s cheek again. “I want to.”
Lex whispered “Don’t…” He looked away and snarled. “Don’t say things like that…” He shoved Kal back down onto the bed. “You don’t get to say shit like that to me.” He kissed Kal hard enough to hurt. “If you want me, take me, but you don’t get to understand me...”
Kal wiped his mouth on his wrist in a slightly aggressive manner. “If all you wanted was to dominate someone for the night, you could’ve called anyone.” He carefully pushed Lex off of his lap as he got up. “So…I suggest you find someone else.” He started to walk away, but gave Luthor a sideways glance. “I can stand being hated, Lex. But I won’t allow myself to be used.”
As Kal continued walking away, Lex panicked and his body rushed out of the bed to act faster than his brain could keep up. Without any hesitation, Luthor grabbed the end of Kal’s cape, making Kal stop in surprise. “D-don’t walk away from me!” Luthor shouted, his flustered demeanor getting the better of him. “You don’t get to just leave whenever you feel like it!”
Kal’s surprise quickly turned to disappointment. “I’m not one of your employees. I don’t take orders from you.” He tries to walk forward but is stopped as he feels Lex’s grip on his cape tighten.
He’s going to make me beg for it, isn’t he? Of course he is, why wouldn’t he enjoy watching me suffer? Lex swallowed hard before speaking. “Then…I’m asking…don’t leave…” You can’t even say it without breaking…
Kal stopped dead in his tracks and looked back at Lex with concern once again painted on his face. “You’re shaking again…”
Lex stared at him a little too long as his jaw tightened. Stop looking at me like that. I don’t need your pity. I don’t need- His train of thought stopped abruptly when he glanced down at his down hand, still gripping the cape in a tight, trembling fist. Damn it, why can’t I stop?
Kal turned around and took a small step closer. “I’ll stay…but you have to stop turning this into a fight.” He waited, not reaching for Luthor that time. “Can you do that for me, Lex?”
Lex’s trembling hand slowly loosened its grip on the cape, but he didn't let it fall completely, choosing instead to hold it in his fingertips like a child still clinging to their favorite blanket as they drift off to sleep. His breath still shook slightly as he replied. “Fine, no fights.” He paused in thought. “Consider this…an experiment. You stay, and I observe whether or not compassion actually accomplishes anything.” A long silence passed between the pair as Luthor’s composure faltered and the cape slipped free from between his fingers. “Just…stay.”
Kal quietly took another step closer. “You don’t have to make it a study. Just let yourself breathe…I’m here.” Lex’s jaw tightened again and he stayed quiet as he processed Kal’s words, allowing him to get a little closer without invading his space. His smile was still soft, but it had a slight saddened hue to it. “You act like compassion is a contagion you’re afraid to catch.” His voice softened, cracking the mask of certainty he usually wore. “What you don’t know is…you’re not the only one who doesn’t want to be alone tonight…”
Lex forced a smirk as he stepped into Kal’s personal space, getting close enough that they could feel each other’s hot breath on their skin. “You think loneliness makes us the same. It doesn’t.” He reached out to touch Kal’s chest. “You make it sound tragic. Like two souls finding the only comfort they have in each other.” He sighed bitterly, but Kal could feel the sadness and disappointment lurking just beneath the surface. “Be careful…or I might almost start to believe you mean it…”
Kal met Luthor’s eyes. “I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it.” He gave a small, almost weary smile. “You keep testing me…trying to prove that I’ll walk away even though you don’t want me to leave…” He placed his hand over Lex's against his chest. “You don’t have to believe me. Just…let yourself feel it. Stop trying to push me away…”
Lex lost his composure for a moment after hearing such sentiments. “Do you think I want to push you away?” He immediately looked away and sighed at himself in frustration as he held his own arms. “Stop…stop talking like that…like this is anything more than just…a night…”
Kal holds Luthor closer. “Lex…it doesn’t just have to be for a night…”
“Yes it does…” Lex answered, forcing back tears. “For both of our sakes…”
Kal gingerly held up Lex’s head by his chin and moved to hold his cheek, caressing him with his thumb and drying the corner of his eye before Lex even realized any tears had nearly escaped. “Are you sure that’s what you want…?”
Lex sniffed softly as a laugh caught in his throat. “You’re relentlessly stubborn, aren’t you?” He forced a weak chuckle with a smile as he tried to blink tears away. “Always saving people, even from themselves. Tell me, doesn’t that get exhausting?”
“What’s exhausting is watching people continue to suffer at their own hands when I can try to help…” He pauses as he contemplates his next words. “Lex…I just want to know what you want from me and I’ll give it to you…”
Lex froze again but leaned into Kal’s touch. “No one’s ever asked me what I want…” He whispered, looking away from Kal’s gaze. “I don’t even know what that is anymore…”
Kal’s soft chuckle echoed into the room again, a sound that was quickly becoming rather intoxicating for Luthor, even if it was weaker than the rest. “Believe it or not…I can’t answer that question either…” He pressed his forehead against Lex’s. “I spend every day saving people and I still don’t know what I want for myself…” He moved his hand from Lex’s face to his chest, feeling the ever-increasing rhythm of his heartbeat. “Maybe that’s why I’m here tonight…” Lex silently nudged his forehead affectionately, having no words of solace or grace to offer until Kal got his attention once more. “Lex…?”
“Yes…?”
“…can I stay the night…?”
“…sure.”
Kal leaned away to look Luthor in the eyes again, making Luthor blush harder. They leaned in together, much more slowly and deliberate, with Lex’s eyes darting between Kal’s soft eyes and his even softer lips until they met again. Kal’s tongue politely prodded at Lex’s lips, asking for permission to enter which was granted in seconds.
As soon as Kal moved his hands under the robe to feel his back again, Lex tensed up and broke the kiss. He gripped the suit and pressed his head against Kal’s chest in frustration, grazing his tongue against his top lip and bottom of his center teeth as he grimaced. What the hell is wrong with me?
Kal simply held him in his arms as he waited a moment to let Lex breathe. When he didn't move or say anything, Kal calmly held him a little closer and quietly guided him back to the present moment. “Lex, let's just go to bed, okay? We don't have to do this, I'm okay to just keep you company tonight.”
Lex finally lets out a sigh, not one of irritation or even arrogance, just genuine exhaustion. “I do want this…” He lets go of Kal’s suit and walks out of his arms toward the bed. He quietly gets under the covers, almost curling up underneath them as he lay on his side. With another simple push of a button, the lights slowly dimmed until they died, blanketing the room in velvety darkness.
Kal, wanting to linger in the still, soft silence a little longer, shifted over to the other side of the bed like a ghost with only his silhouette moving through the dark being the sign that he’s there. It was almost daunting to Luthor as the eeriness of the shadows crept into the recesses of his paranoid psyche. With a hard swallow and another quick lick of the bottom of his teeth, Lex buried those childish feelings as best as he could. Kal removed the cape first and set it on the foot of the bed, watching Lex intently.
I’ve never seen him without the cape before… Luthor thought as he found himself staring at what little he could still see of Kal in the dark. He’s still wearing the suit but…he already feels…nude without it…
Kal gently sat on the edge of the bed with his back turned, shifting Lex slightly with the new weight. He looked back over his shoulder with the faintest blush. “Would you…mind pulling the zipper down, please?”
Lex’s own face flushed for what felt like the thousandth time that night and he sat up a little, holding himself up on his forearms. I almost cannot believe I’m awake right now… He leaned closer and reached out with a shaky hand, hesitating just before touching him. He trusts me…he actually trusts me…he wants me to help him take his suit off…he…wants to stay…is…this even truly possible? Lex gently placed his hand in the center of Kal’s upper back, right below the nape of the neck. He lingered for just a moment, feeling his own heart race in his chest.
Kal leaned against Lex’s hand gently, tilting his head back to brush against Lex’s temple. “You don’t have to take it off if you don’t want to.” He forces a sound that’s somewhere between a sigh and a chuckle without genuine amusement. “It’s…not like it would even be the first time I’ve spent the night with it on.”
Why does he have to sound so…human when he says things like that…with that stupidly attractive laugh… Lex found the zipper and slowly pulled it down, revealing the Kryptonian’s tone, soft skin underneath between the teeth. Kal sighed with relief as the tension of the suit against his skin was released. Luthor swallowed the lump of trepidation caught in his throat and placed his still-shaking hands between the pieces of fabric, getting underneath it. He’s somehow even more muscular than I thought…and soft… Lex pushed the fabric up and off of Kal’s shoulders, peeling it down slowly as he traced his muscles with his eyes. Kal finished the job and removed his belt and boots before sliding into the bed and getting settled under the warm blankets.
The bed caved in slightly under Kal’s weight, making Lex shift closer to him again without meaning to. Lex froze as the warmth of Kal’s body seeped through his robe and touched the exposed parts of his skin. Kal hesitantly wrapped his arm around him, holding him even closer as he noticed just how cold Luthor was to the touch, even under his robe.
“You’re tense…” Kal murmured sadly, still concerned for Luthor’s well-being.
“...you’re warm…” Lex replied in a soft whisper, snuggling up close to his chest and wrapping himself around the natural heater. He rested his hand on his chest, mindlessly scritching at his chest hair as he would a cat in his lap as he studied Kal’s breathing. The rhythm was average, but calm and soothing as it rocked Lex’s head in a gentle wave. Kal had closed his eyes with a small, pleased smile as he nestled into the pillows.
“How are you so…calm…?” Lex asked.
“What do you mean?”
Lex glared to himself. “Most people would be nervous to let me so close…”
“Well…good thing I’m not like most people.” Kal chuckled. Luthor remained quiet, prompting Kal to sit up, propped up against the headboard. He pulled Lex into his lap again, making Lex stiffen as his bare lap made contact with Kal’s under the robe. He once again found his cheek being tenderly held by Kal’s hand as their eyes met. Lex was mesmerized but also perplexed by how Kal’s oceanic eyes seemed to almost glow in the darkness, filling his chest with warmth and a persistent dread.
The moment lingered longer than Lex expected and he grew flustered. “W-what?”
Kal gave the goofiest, dorkiest looking smile yet as he replied. “Nothing, I just…I think your eyes are beautiful…”
Lex forced a smirk. “For someone who can hear heartbeats from a mile away, you’re not very good at detecting your own.” He pressed his hand against Kal’s chest to feel his heart as it started to beat faster. “You’re enjoying yourself.”
Kal couldn’t help but chuckle some more. “Of course I am.” He pulled Lex closer. “I’m just enjoying you.” He kissed Lex tenderly, catching him off guard and making him tense up again; but he didn’t push Kal away. Kal broke the kiss and hugged Luthor again as if worried to let him go as he whispered in his ear. “You’re safe with me, Lex. I promise.” He kissed his neck lovingly, making Lex whimper ever so gently, whether he meant to let that slip out or not. “I’d never hurt you…”
Lex’s breath stuttered and his fingers twitched against Kal’s skin as if he were about to pull away—but he didn't. Instead, he slowly wraps his arms around him and hugs him back. His chest rose and fell unevenly with a sound escaping his lips that seemed almost like a sob. “You-” He swallowed. “You always make it sound so damn easy. Like I could just…stop fighting…” Luthor’s voice hitched and caught in his throat as it broke ever so slightly. “I don’t know how…” He pressed his hand against the alien’s chest to feel his heartbeat once again. “You’re really here…” He let out a quiet, almost disbelieving laugh. “God, you’re really-” He cut himself off, unwilling to speak anymore as he buried his face in Kal’s neck and shoulder again. He clutched at the only man willing to even try to see him in any worthwhile way, wrapping his arms around his neck as he trembled but refused to cry. “I don’t want to be alone…not tonight…” He blinked hard as his body disobeyed his will and began producing tears, whispering as if worried anyone else would hear. “Please…”
Kal leaned his head against Lex. “You don’t have to ask…I’m already yours for the night…” He pressed his lips against his temple, kissing him gingerly before continuing. “Just let me take care of you for once…let me show you what it’s like to be held instead of just touched…just for tonight if that’s what you really want…”
I want it for more than just tonight…but I know if I had it…I wouldn’t survive it…I hate the way he makes me feel…because he makes me want more… Lex started kissing and nipping at Kal’s neck again. “What I want is to get back to where we were earlier…sound good?”
Kal held Luthor’s hips and started grinding a little. “Yeah…sounds good.”
Lex huffed and kissed Kal deeply as Kal slipped his hands under his robes again. Luthor suddenly grabbed his wrists again, but with noticeably less force compared to the last time. “You can take it off…”
“Are you sure?”
Lex looked Kal in the eyes. “I want it off. I want this, I just…don’t know how to handle it…” Fuck him for making me so honest… Kal hesitantly reached for the robe, but was grabbed by Lex again as his patience wore thin. “Don’t look at me like I’m fragile.” He demanded.
“I don’t mean to,” Kal replied earnestly. “I know you’re not.” Lex gradually released Kal’s wrists and allowed him to grab the string, pulling it undone. He reached up to slip the flaps off of Luthor’s shoulders, leaving the sleeves on as he felt his arms. Lex was still stiff but his trembling had decreased; just not completely. Luthor pulled the sleeves off and quickly leaned forward to kiss Kal again, not giving him the chance to fully see his body. Kal ran his hands along Lex’s sides, getting a good feel for his curves and waist as he once again asked for permission to penetrate his mouth with his tongue. Lex parted his lips and groaned into Kal’s mouth as their tongues mingled and he fought for dominance. His groan turned into a grunt as he suddenly felt Kal’s erection graze up against his skin, the tip poking his tailbone enough to make blood rush to it.
Kal broke the kiss with a bashful giggle and lingered near Lex’s face. “S-sorry if the poking is bothering you.” His tip twitched as if to emphasize his point. “I’m just excited.”
Lex couldn’t help himself as he chuckled and leaned his forehead against Kal’s as his own blush worsened. This dumb idiot apologizing for his own…he’s so…awkwardly charming… “I can tell.” He snarkily replied with a smile as Kal twitched again and stretched gently beneath him. He leaned his head back. “Did…you want to start? Or…?”
Kal carefully grabbed Lex’s face and coaxed him back down to touch foreheads again, rubbing his cheeks with his thumbs. “No…I want to just savor this some more…”
Oh if only it could last… Lex thought somberly as he kissed Kal again, mingling tongues with a groan. He mindlessly started grinding on the alien’s lap, stiffening the longer their tongues danced. Kal moaned softly into the kiss as Lex’s tip poked his upper abdomen. He instinctively thrusted upward against Lex in anticipation, feeling his precum oozing onto his lower back.
Lex broke the kiss and panted softly. “You seem pent up…”
“I was going to say the same about you…”
Lex’s cock twitched, again as if to accentuate the point, making him aware of just how much of his own precum was pooling in Kal’s stomach beneath his tip. “It’s…been a while.” Since I’ve felt anything worthwhile, at least…
“That’s alright, it’s been a while for me too…that’s…why I just want to take our time, if that’s alright with you.”
This…could get addicting… “Y-yeah, that’s fine…shall we continue…?”
Kal wordlessly leaned in and kissed Lex again, moaning into his mouth as the tension grew. His soft moans made it more difficult for Lex to avoid his own, trying to simply grunt and groan instead as he lost himself in the embrace.
Kal broke the kiss again with another bashful giggle as everything was starting to overwhelm him a little. “If we keep this up, we’re going to synchronize orbital periods.”
Lex huffed, the sound caught somewhere between a laugh and a sigh. “That’s one way to describe being trapped together.” He glanced up, almost fondly. “So that’s your idea of flirting: turning gravity into sentiment?” He leaned against Kal. “You’re impossible…”
Kal chuckled. “You make it hard not to sound sentimental, I suppose.” He looked Lex in the eyes, still finding the same amount of wonder in them every time. His nervousness started to show more but his smile remained unwavering. “That’s not a complaint.”
Lex sat back up and put the smirk back on his face. “I don’t think either of us can withstand this much longer. But if you start using astrophysics to flirt, I’m going to call it a night.”
Kal gives Lex a quick kiss and chuckles. “I’ll try my best.”
Lex inhaled through his nose and went to reach for the bottle of lubricant he had sitting on his bedside table when a thought occurred. His mouth acted faster to ask his question than his brain could keep it to himself. “Mind if I…” He trailed off, blushing intensely as his lack of proper words allowed his brain to catch up with itself.
Kal’s face flushed just as deeply in return as he realized there were realistically only two things Luthor could’ve been referring to. “I…o-only do what you feel comfortable with.”
Lex grew flustered and slightly irritated. “I-I don’t-“ He huffed. “S-someone has to apply it, so…”
Kal touched Lex’s chest. “Wait…”
“What?”
Kal trailed his hand down Luthor’s chest and over his abs, taking his time to feel every muscle.
Lex noticed how dangerously low his hand was getting and panic set in. “Kal, w-what are you-“
“Sorry, do you want me to stop?” Kal asked, cutting Lex off as he, too, panicked a little and froze his hand in place on Lex’s lower stomach.
Lex’s breath hitched as his member twitched, grazing the oozing tip against Kal’s forearm against his will. “No…I just…got nervous…” Why must I act like a lovesick fool…? To imagine I thought I had more control than this…
Kal lingered there for a moment before inevitably pulling his hand away. Don’t rush him…you need to let him set the pace, even if it kills you…
He stopped…why? Luthor wondered and once again his mouth moved without his explicit, proper permission. “Are you alright?”
Kal was slightly taken back by being asked for the first time in this exchange; or in such a genuine way like that in a long time. “Yeah, I’m alright…”
Lex leaned over to grab the bottle and repositioned himself between Kal’s thighs on his knees. He gulped softly and sucked in a breath, suddenly feeling overheated and rather exasperated to see it for the first time. He hesitated with the bottle in his hand as it twitched and oozed some more. Luthor set the bottle down beside Kal’s thigh and used one hand to gently grip him, feeling the veins pulse with excitement. He ran his hand up to the tip and swirled his thumb and palm around it to glide the precum down his shaft, watching as Kal simply leaned back against the headboard with his eyes closed and a dorky, sweet smile on his flushed face.
It’s amusing how easy he is to please… Lex remarked to himself as he stroked gently. Cute, even…but that word isn’t supposed to apply to him… His stroking eventually led to more precum as Kal sighed quietly. It’s…almost enough to… Lex bit his lip as he considered the idea, but shook it off. “How…do you want to do this?”
Kal squinted his eyes open. “What…position?”
Lex blinked. One minute he’s comparing this interaction to celestial orbit and the next he’s asking for this kind of clarification. Fitting, I suppose, in his own…dorkish way. “Yes…”
“Well…admittedly, having you in my lap was pretty nice…”
Of course he picks one of the most intimate positions…it’s like he gets off on making me vulnerable… Lex silently agreed as he poured some lubricant into his hand and rubbed it against his palms before gently massaging Kal to prep him. Kal bit his lip and sighed again, leaning back with his eyes shut as he adored the way Lex touched him.
Once he was finished, Lex wiped his hands on the comforter and crawled back on top of Kal. He groaned softly as he once again felt his tip twitch against the small of his back. “Are you ready…?”
Kal pulled Lex in for a tender kiss. “Only if you’re sure.”
Lex stole a kiss in reply. “Yeah…” He leaned in to continue kissing Kal, lifting himself off of his lap and onto his knees for easier access.
Just then—Kal breaks the kiss with a nervous smile. “Wait…”
Lex actually tried to hide his frustration, not wanting the tension to linger any longer. “What?”
“Lex…am I your first?”
Lex immediately went to answer before thinking about the situation all the way through, flustering himself as he tripped over his own words. “N-no! No, I’m…I'm experienced, if that’s what you’re worried about…”
“No, that’s…not why I’m asking…I just wanted to be sure…”
“Why?”
“I just…want you to feel cared about. Especially if…you hadn’t done this before…”
Lex tensed up again, desperately trying to hide it and failing. He needs to stop talking like that…he needs to stop trying to convince me this matters…and I need to stop thinking about it.” He kissed Kal again with a little more force, trying to distract himself before whispering. “I’m ready…”
They dove right back into each other as Kal reached underneath Lex to grab his throbbing member. He swiped it a little first both to stimulate and to ensure he was lubricated properly before slowly pushing his tip inside him. Lex finally let out a moan into Kal’s mouth, unable to hold back any longer as he gradually lowered himself onto his cock. Lex broke the kiss and sat up for a minute to breathe.
Kal held Luthor’s hips tenderly. “Are you okay?”
Lex took in a calming breath. “Yeah, I’m okay…just…adjusting…”
“Take your time, I’m not going anywhere.” Kal replied, holding Lex closer.
Lex hugged him earnestly as Kal started thrusting. It was slow at first as Kal gave Lex the proper time to adjust and relax to the size and feeling. Lex tightened his grip on Kal and buried his face in his neck as he moaned with Kal gradually picking up speed.
“Kal!” Lex moaned, losing himself in the pleasure.
Kal also buried his face in Lex’s neck and shoulder as he moaned with him, hugging him tightly through the experience. I think he's finally allowing himself to just be here with me… His heart fluttered as his stomach flipped for a moment, making Kal the one to pause and take a breath for once as he held Lex’s hips down to ground himself.
Lex panted softly, leaning his hands against Kal’s chest. When his eyes finally opened, he met the alien’s eyes who were so incredibly soft and full of waves of genuine love, that it damn near broke his heart. For Kal: Lex had finally stopped shaking and couldn't help but smile. His hands shifted up from Lex’s hips to his sides, then to his back, gliding across his delicate skin in ways that sent electricity up Luthor’s spine.
Lex slowly started grinding on Kal’s lap and panting softly as his hands finally reached the back of his neck. Luthor was gently pulled toward Kal’s face until their foreheads touched. They shut their eyes as Kal gradually resumed thrusting, his hand gliding back down Luthor’s sides to his hips. As he started to bounce Lex onto him in time with his thrusts, he found his lips suddenly assaulted with a tender, but feverish kiss. Lex whimpered and broke the embrace quickly, unable to contain his moaning as he lingered so close to Kal’s face that their lips still grazed each other. It wasn’t long before Lex dove back in, almost desperately trying to hold onto the kiss as long as he could manage—he inevitably failed after a few seconds. This pattern continued, reaching more and more intense highs as Lex held onto Kal’s face with such a loving touch that it nearly broke Kal’s composure entirely.
Kal wasn’t slowing his pace anymore and the tension building between them was becoming completely unbearable. “K-Kal…” Lex huffed. “Don’t stop…I’m s-so close…”
Kal wrapped his arms around Lex, holding him as close as he possibly could as his own orgasm was creeping up on him. He shut his eyes tightly and leaned into Luthor, stifling his own moans to just enjoy his voice as he pressed his lips against his shoulder.
Lex gripped the back of Kal’s hair as he cried out his name into the dark, releasing rope after rope of semen onto his abs and stomach.
Kal was nearly about to go over the edge as well, but restrained himself long enough to ask one final question, one important enough to himself at least. “L-Lex…inside…?”
Lex couldn't be more flustered, exhausted, halfway between genuine affection and a mix of emotions he doesn't understand than he was in that moment. To hear such a question at that time fractured what little foundation was left of his composure and he simply kissed Kal deeply, answering in the only way he knew how.
Kal moaned into Lex’s mouth as he held his hips down, finally reaching his peak. His entire spine tingled and his cock throbbed as thick cum spilled out around the base of his shaft, oozing over his sack and dampening the comforter. Some stuck to Lex’s thighs as he slowly pulled himself up and off of him.
Lex, surprising himself and Kal, suddenly kissed him again with the softest, most gentle sincerity the Kryptonian had experienced all night. Kal lingered in that kind of kiss for as long as Lex would allow. When it finally ended, Kal leaned forward a bit, chasing the lips he longed to connect with a little longer.
With a small groan, Lex crawled off of Kal, but remained at his side. He curled up and wrapped his arm around his torso, pulling himself in tight as Kal lowered himself to rest on the cloud-like pillows. He pulled the covers up over the two of them, hearing Lex let out a gentle sigh of what he could only describe as relief.
“Are you comfortable like this?” Kal asked in a hushed tone as his consciousness began to drift.
“Yeah…” Lex shut his eyes and nuzzled his cheek against Kal’s chest, giving into his urge to kiss his velvety-smooth skin without even giving it a second thought. Kal pulled him in even closer as Lex continued giving him affection, coaxing their legs to intertwine.
The apartment seemed to hold its breath for it had never known such calmness, such serenity; and neither had Lex. The vent hummed, the city outside whispered through the glass, and everything else had gone quiet. Kal’s hand rested on Luthor’s side right above his waist, occasionally rubbing his skin in small circles. It wasn’t necessarily meant to soothe, but it did so nonetheless. Lex’s breathing was as calm as Kal had ever seen it, almost in sync with his own as he drifted.
“You still awake…?” Kal murmured.
“Unfortunately…” Lex replied quietly.
Kal continued rubbing Lex’s side and back. “Give it a minute…I’m sure you’ll be out soon…”
As if his words themselves commanded the universe, Lex’s eyes grew heavier. He let out one final sigh, this one of content, before he joined Kal in some much needed rest.
