is it cool that i said all that?

Summary:

addison:
Dr. Grey.
I assume you have the fetal assessment report for the Montgomery case that was supposed to be on my desk forty minutes ago?

8:48 a.m.
meredith:
hi to you too
and technically yes but also technically i’m using it

8:50 a.m.
addison:
You’ve been “using it” for nearly an hour.
Are you planning to hold it hostage?

8:51 a.m.
meredith:
depends. what’s your ransom offer

meredith grey texts addison montgomery.
she probably shouldn’t.
she does anyway.

Notes:

hi hi. okay. deep breath. new fic who dis? 👀

first things first: no, i’m not abandoning the other fic. promise. she’s just on a little emotional vacation because, frankly, my heart can’t handle any more hospital-grade angst right now. my girlfriend and i worked things out (we’re good, we’re soft, we’re disgustingly domestic again: combing our hair and kissing while holding hands under our snoopy blanket) and i’m simply not in the headspace to make meredith suffer at the moment. personal growth, i guess.

so, here’s the plan: i’m starting something new. lighter. weirder. text-based.

it’s basically meredith and addison’s story told entirely (or mostly) through text messages.

no narrators. no long internal monologues (yet). just late-night typing bubbles, accidental double-texts, voice notes they’ll pretend not to replay seventeen times, and emojis as emotional damage control.

it’ll start messy and slow, the way new things do: half flirtation, half avoidance, probably explicit later (because listen… they would text like that and we all know it).

i wanted to play with tone and pacing. what connection looks like when it’s filtered through screens, when two people who’ve already lived lifetimes of bad timing find themselves typing “you up?” and actually meaning it.

expect chaos. and tenderness. and probably too many ellipses.

anyway, that’s the vibe. thank you for being here, for loving these two disasters enough to follow me into another format. the other fic will continue when the angst fog lifts. for now, let’s text.

11:07 a.m.

11:43 p.m.
meredith:
