They’d been fighting side to side at the front, pushing back the Hanu line. The battle had become a melee, marked by occasional spells. And occasional arrows.
Aldaan saw Sura stagger and fall. He let other Nerathi surge into the gap in the line they’d created. His stomach was twisting. The shaft had passed though Sura’s thigh, too close to the artery. They were out of potions. He called for a healer, but knew none would come in time.
Will, no matter how forceful, wasn’t enough to staunch bleeding. Aldaan felt it when his lover passed, felt lost and alone.
