Work Text:

“Shu?”

Leo tentatively peeks from where he stands from the door, adjusting the plastic bag he’s carrying in his left elbow. A quick scan shows Shu sitting at a desk and typing away at something on his laptop, which is exactly what Leo had told him not to be doing.

He huffs in frustration, his initial hesitation lost to the wind in the face of one Shu Yamino neglecting his rest. Leo closes the door behind him and rushes toward the man, already preparing to lecture him on the importance of health.

“You’re supposed to be in bed right now, y’know.” He plants his hands on Shu’s shoulders, giving him a gentle shake. Shu turns to look at him and sighs.

“I’ve been in bed all day. I’m just checking some things, but I am resting most of the time, I promise.” His voice is slightly hoarse, face flushed, and Leo can feel the unnatural warmth through his sweater. Despite Shu’s assurances, Leo doesn’t feel any more relieved of his condition. He knows deep down that Shu isn’t one to push himself to extremes, at least not in the same way that Claude does, but he can’t help but worry regardless. He wraps his arms around Shu and places a chin on his shoulder.

“Maybe, but I think it’s better to play it safe. Don’t want your fever to get any worse.” Leo gently nuzzles into the side of his neck. “You never know.”

Shu gives a soft hum in agreement, and pauses. “But all this touching isn’t gonna save you from catching my fever either, Leo,” he laughs, patting at one of the arms holding him.

Leo laughs in response, “Bro I’m not gonna catch it that easily! Pretty sure I’d only get sick if we were like, kissing or something.” Momentarily letting go just to set down the plastic bag, he returns his arms to their previous positions and squeezes a little harder. “Watch, I’m going to smother you and be completely fine afterwards,” Leo declares, pressing a quick smooch to Shu’s cheek to emphasize his point.

Huffing another laugh, Shu gets up and pulls them both toward the bed. “Right… and if you get sick by the time Claude gets back, you’re totally fine with taking the blame on that?” he tucks them in and squeezes into Leo’s arms to get comfortable. Leo tangles their legs together and presses his face into Shu’s hair.

“Sure, sure, whatever man.”

-

“Oh my God, you’re both actually idiots.”

Claude stares them both down in both exasperation and fondness, his arms crossed over his chest with a small grin he isn’t even trying to hide.

Shu splutters in indignation, “Bro what, why am I in it? It wasn’t even my fault!” He points to Leo, who is sat beside Shu twiddling his thumbs in mild shame, and is noticeably rather flushed and disheveled. “This guy was all like ‘I’m not going to get sick from a little cuddling Shu,’ even after I warned him. Don’t drag me into that statement too!”

Claude simply raises a brow, “And yet you still went along with it?”

“I mean yeah but—“

“No, no ‘buts’ Shu you still fucking cuddled with him, that does not make you innocent!” Claude cackles hysterically, wagging a finger at Shu who was still stumbling out excuses trying to prove his innocence. Leo attempts to reach out and hold Claude, only to get a flick in the forehead.

“Hey! I’m not tryna catch whatever you two have, relationship be damned.” Claude holds up the abandoned plastic bag from earlier and sets it down onto Shu’s lap. “I gave you,” he turns to Leo, “very specific instructions. Deliver Shu the medicine and essentials, then give him some space. Somehow you did the complete opposite—“

“I couldn’t help it!”

“—and now you’re both sick. So now you are both going to take your meds, sit here, and contemplate what went wrong. Okay?”

Despite looking rather despondent, Leo complies easily enough and takes the medicine, as does Shu, but with a bit more attitude. Claude internally rolls his eyes but figures they’ve already gotten enough of an earful, and decides to cut them some slack. He delivers a hug and a quick peck to the same spot he flicked Leo earlier, then turns to Shu and gently rubs the back of his neck before pressing a kiss to the top of his head.

“Just don’t be dumb, alright? The sooner you guys are healthier the better.” Claude opens one of the windows about an inch, and heads towards the door. “I’ve gotta be somewhere in about an hour, but I’ll make you guys soup before I go, and if it gets cold by the time you wake up then feel free to reheat it. Make sure you actually rest or I swear to God!”

He hears them cackling from under the blanket, but what could possibly be funny, Claude has no clue. Leo peeks out with a quick “Okay, thank you, love you!” While Shu just replies with an indiscernible noise of confirmation.

These guys, I swear.
