Work Text:
The palace has never felt so alive, and yet, Taehyung has never felt so small.
Silks whisper against the marble floors as servants bow and slip out, leaving the heavy doors closing behind them. The chamber smells of sandalwood and rosewater, a scent so thick it clings to the air like velvet. Golden lamps flicker, tossing their light across tapestries embroidered with stags, dragons, and blossoms, all testaments of The House of Jeons.
And by the window stands the crown prince. His husband.
Taehyung looks at how the moonlight drapes over those broad shoulders, softening the strain he barely understands.
Sighing, he shifts his weight on the edge of the bed whilst his fingers curl into the blanket.
He can still hear Jimin’s teasing voice ringing in his head from earlier that evening, “Don’t pout like that, Tae. You’ll only tempt him faster.” Can feel Yoongi’s calm timbre assuring him with a faint smirk, “Just remember you don’t have to let him win everything. Not even tonight.”
But now his friends are far down the hall, celebrating among the nobles, and he is alone; alone with the alpha that everyone said could command armies with a glance.
“Your friends are noisy,” Jungkook’s voice pierces through the silence at last.
Taehyung blinks as he peeks at the alpha. He worries his lower lip as he stares at the sharpness of his profile in the silver wash of moonlight.
“That one, Jimin?” Jungkook shakes his head. “He laughs as if he wants the whole kingdom to know your secrets.”
Taehyung’s lips curve despite the nerves twisting in his stomach. “Maybe he does. Not everything has to be locked away in shadows, Your Highness.”
Jungkook finally turns.
His eyes are dark and unreadable, whilst his presence fills the room effortlessly. He’s wearing no crown now, only a simple black robe belted at the waist, but still, it is enough. Enough, for the alpha doesn’t need the crown to speak for him.
As Jungkook’s eyes trail over Taehyung, his scent rolls out slowly. Cedarwood, Thyme, and something sharper underneath.
It skims across the omega’s skin, coaxing a response he can’t hold back. His own scent blooms up to meet it, soft and restless, like wildflowers breaking open in the rain.
Jungkook’s nostrils flare, just barely, before he reins it in.
“You’re tense,” he observes, his timbre not mean, merely matter-of-fact.
Taehyung tilts his head, lashes lowering dangerously close to a challenge. “Wouldn’t you be? Thrown into a stranger’s arms, for some political alliance, after vows in a tongue half the court doesn’t even speak?”
At the unmistakable jab, something flashes in Jungkook’s countenance. Perhaps amusement, possibly admiration.
He raises a brow. “Really? I assumed the youngest Kim was not the type to tremble easily.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes. “Perhaps I’m simply good at acting.” Tipping his head, he continues, “But, trusting the whispers on the street… I expected better, alpha.”
That earns him a real reaction. The barest curve of Jungkook’s mouth, like the first crack in a wall.
And, it’s with that curve that Jungkook slowly pads through the room.
Taehyung keeps looking at him, refusing to back away, even though his pulse clambers. For he wants to see how close Jungkook will get. Wants to see what the alpha is truly like. Wants to test him.
But when Jungkook reaches the bed, he doesn’t touch Taehyung right away, like the omega thought he would.
Instead, he lowers himself to sit beside him, close enough that their shoulders brush. Close enough that his scent curls tighter, warmer, enveloping the omega like a cloak.
“You smell like spring,” Jungkook murmurs, so low that Taehyung feels it more than hears it.
Heat speeds to the omega’s cheeks, but he lifts a brow anyway. “Is that supposed to tame me? Compliments?”
Jungkook turns his head, meeting his gaze directly.
And Taehyung feels his breath hitching. His eyes— Jungkook’s eyes— so sharp from a distance, look so soft in proximity.
“No,” Jungkook whispers, gaze steady. “It’s supposed to warn you.”
Taehyung blinks, thrown. “Warn me?”
Jungkook inclines just slightly closer, the corner of his mouth threatening a smirk. “That someone might never stop breathing it in.”
For a moment, the air stretches between them, fragile and shimmering. But then, Taehyung lets out a small laugh, though it quivers at the edges.
“That sounds like a problem for you, not me.”
Jungkook hums, his hand moving, slow and willful, as he brushes the back of Taehyung’s knuckles. “You sound so sure.”
Taehyung feels the warmth creeping up his neck, but the touch vanishes just as fast as it comes.
“Why shouldn’t I be?” He contests, tongue darting over his lips.
Jungkook’s eyes catch the movement.
“You’re not afraid of me,” He murmurs, not quite a question.
“Should I be?” Taehyung shoots back instantly.
Silence.
Then, to Taehyung’s shock, Jungkook leans back slightly, a huff of breath escaping him— half laugh, half disbelief. “You really are nothing like I expected.”
Taehyung’s grin turns mischievous, a flash of teeth. “Good. It would be terribly boring if I was.”
And just like that, the tension in the room shifts. Softens somehow.
Jungkook’s shoulders slack, his posture becomes less rigid, but his gaze? His gaze still remains steady.
He studies the omega as though committing him to memory, and for the first time, Taehyung sees not just the domineering alpha, but a man— young and untested, perhaps even lonelier than himself.
The thought tugs at something in his chest. A feeling that makes him slightly reckless, a little too eager to push.
So, he leans just a little closer, enough for their knees to brush. Enough for his scent to wind around Jungkook’s throat like a ribbon.
“But, tell me,” he murmurs, eyes wide, gleaming, “what do newly wedded alphas and omegas do on nights like this?”
Jungkook stops dead at the question.
The alpha gulps as he angles his eyes downward, heat gathering there whilst his jaw tenses.
He doesn’t answer right away. Not because he doesn’t know, but because he knows too well.
Exhaling, Jungkook peers at the omega, his eyes pausing at the innocence and mischief he radiates.
Imperceptibly shaking his head, Jungkook answers, quiet enough that Taehyung almost feels it more than hears it.
“Whatever you’ll allow.”
All at once, everything halts. The words hang between them, stout and promising.
And Taehyung? Taehyung feels them in his bones, in his skin, in his pulse. Just like how he can almost hear Jimin’s giggle and Yoongi’s cool warning echoing faintly in his mind. But none of that matters here. Not in front of these words.
Because here, in this gilded chamber, with the moon watching like a silent witness, he isn’t the playful prince or the clever youngest omega. He is Taehyung. Newly bound, standing at the edge of something precarious, something tender.
And Jungkook is waiting, already undone in ways unbeknownst to him.
Yet, the silence between them keeps stretching. Not because it is empty, no. But because it pulsates with something alive, something that makes the edges of the room blur.
Taehyung shifts first. He draws his knees up on the bed and pivots, facing Jungkook fully.
The golden lamplight makes the alpha’s skin glow, making the lines of his face look sharper and softer all at once.
“Whatever I allow, mhm? That makes me sound very powerful, alpha.”
“You are,” Jungkook replies. No hesitation, no teasing. His gaze not wavering.
The weight of it robs Taehyung’s breath for a moment.
He’s used to banter, to people laughing at his wit, to alphas calling him endearments only to look down at him, to eyes that skate over him lightly. But this? This is heavy, grounding— a stare that sees him.
Taehyung blinks, then pitches his head back with a chuckle that rings too brightly. “You don’t waste words, do you?”
“Not with you.”
The candour makes Taehyung’s cheeks warm again, though he masks it with a smirk. “Careful, Your Highness. Flatter me too much, and I might get used to it.”
Jungkook slants forward, just enough for Taehyung to feel the whisper of his scent nudging closer, twining around him like an embrace. “Maybe I want you to.”
Taehyung’s lips part before he can stop himself, and Jungkook’s gaze flicks down, brief but telling.
The omega feels his mouth run dry, yet—
Yet, he pushes gently at Jungkook’s chest with two fingers, merely enough to create space. “You’re staring like you’ve never seen an omega before.”
“I haven’t seen you before,” Jungkook responds.
His hand catches Taehyung’s wrist, not harshly, but firmly, thumb coasting along the delicate line of his skin.
“Not like this. Not when you smell like rain and wildflowers and…” His throat works, voice dropping lower. “And....”
Taehyung’s pulse stutters. “And?”
Jungkook peers at him, his gaze dark and heavy.
“Mine,” he eventually whispers.
Taehyung senses his scent spiking, dribbling sweeter, swerving into Jungkook’s senses like honeyed flowers. His body shudders, though he straightens his spine defiantly. “You’re too sure of yourself.”
“Maybe.” Jungkook’s lips curve faintly. “But tonight, I’m asking.”
Taehyung swallows as his eyes dart away— to the embroidered curtains, the jewelled goblet on the bedside table, anywhere that is not the alpha’s unwavering gaze. But instinct betrays him.
His body leans forward as his wrist softens in Jungkook’s grasp, while his scent keeps on unfurling like surrender in the smallest, quietest way.
Jungkook notices. Of course, he does.
His chest rises sharply in response whilst his pupils darken, but still— still— he holds himself in check.
And that restraint startles Taehyung most of all. The world says Jungkook is ruthless and imperious. An alpha. And yet here he is, sitting still, waiting on Taehyung’s word.
A smile slinks over Taehyung’s lips. Small at first, then blooming brighter. Artful and soft at once. “You’re very good at waiting for permission.”
“I’ve never had to,” Jungkook admits as his grip slackens, though his thumb remains at Taehyung’s wrist. “But I’ll wait for you.”
The honesty is disarming in the way it cracks something open inside the omega, leaving him a little unmoored.
Therefore, he shifts closer. So close that their knees are fully pressed now, their robes brushing.
And when he opens his mouth, his voice is hushed, puckish again to coat the tremor in his chest. “Then maybe I’ll make you wait forever.”
Jungkook looks at him for a minute before he slightly tips his head back. His laugh is low, real, vibrating through the air between them. “Cruel omega.”
“Honest,” Taehyung corrects with a grin. “There’s a difference.”
Soon, the sound of their laughter softens, dissolving into a silence that feels full rather than empty. Warmth seeps through the air, their scents twining slowly, thickly, until the room itself seems to hum with it.
And when Taehyung finally leans in— just barely, just enough for his breath to brush Jungkook’s jaw— it is not with fear, nor with duty.
It is a choice.
Jungkook exhales, shaky for the first time, as if he’s been holding his breath since the ceremony. His hand lifts hesitantly, digits ghosting along Taehyung’s hair, his nape, before settling lightly at his shoulder.
The touch is reverent, careful, as if Taehyung is spun from glass.
“Mine,” Jungkook whispers again, but this time, it’s softer, not asserting… more like confessing.
Taehyung smiles against his skin. “You sure?”
“Why? Am I not supposed to be?” Jungkook breathes.
And with that, the room falls hush. The crackle of the lamps softens, as if even the flames know to stay quiet.
Taehyung inches close, his cheek brushing Jungkook’s jaw. His lashes fan low, but his smile lingers— mischievous and secretive.
He likes the way Jungkook is holding himself together: tight and restrained, as though an erroneous move will break the omega.
“Are you always this serious?” Taehyung whispers, his breath ghosting warm over Jungkook’s skin.
Jungkook huffs softly, the sound tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Only when it matters.”
Taehyung angles back, just far enough to see his face as the words swing between them, solemn and unsettling in their honesty.
When it matters.
His heart thuds too loudly, so he covers it with a quip. “You’re making it very difficult to tease you, alpha.”
“Good,” Jungkook murmurs, his eyes locking with the omega. “Maybe then you’ll stop trying.”
Taehyung tilts his head, that dangerous grin returning. “Not a chance.”
The space between them narrows before Jungkook can think, because Taehyung moves closer, deliberate this time. His shoulder presses against Jungkook’s chest, his thigh sliding against his.
The omega’s scent unfurls entirely, rich and heady in its tone, filling the air like spring in full bloom.
Jungkook draws a sharp breath, his restraint thinning by degrees.
A sound, low and rough, breaks from him anyway. And, his hand on Taehyung’s shoulder tenses, not in force, but in need.
Taehyung’s lips part, and for once, he doesn’t hide the blush sneaking across his cheeks.
“You’re loud for someone trying so hard to wait,” he teases, but his voice is breathy, softer than he intends.
“You’re cruel for someone who feels like that,” Jungkook shoots back, voice hoarse.
Taehyung blinks, then his grin softens, melting into something more vulnerable. “Like what?”
Jungkook’s throat bobs. His gaze dips for a heartbeat, catching on Taehyung’s mouth before snapping back up. “…like home.”
That remark does something to Taehyung’s chest. It yanks at the very edges of his chaos, stilling him. His teasing falters, and he finally leans in. Slowly, resolutely, until their noses brush.
And, just like that, the omega’s world contracts to the heat of Jungkook’s breath, the wild drum of his own pulse, and the faint tremor in the hand still cupping his shoulder.
Jungkook’s eyes flutter half-shut, his body slanting forward the tiniest fraction.
His lips hover a breath away from Taehyung’s; waiting, asking… pleading.
Taehyung lingers there, cruel and kind all at once, letting the moment stretch— fragile and trembling, like glass about to break. His lips inch even closer, too near for warmth, not enough for touch.
Jungkook’s voice comes out in a rasp. “Tae…”
The sound of his name on Jungkook’s tongue— reverent, and almost fraying at the edges— sends a shiver down Taehyung’s spine. He tilts forward, almost there, and Jungkook’s breath catches—
—but at the last second, Taehyung pulls back with a laugh, soft and wicked. He flops onto the pillows beside Jungkook, arms spread wide, hair spilling over silk. “Not tonight.”
Jungkook freezes, blinking, the tension in his body almost comical. “…what?”
Taehyung grins up at the ceiling, then pivots his head just enough to catch Jungkook’s bewildered expression. His eyes sparkle with mischief, his scent still spilling sweetly into the room, intoxicating.
“I like anticipation,” he replies, voice lilting, sing-song. “Makes everything taste sweeter.”
Jungkook gapes for a long moment, then lets out a breathless laugh that sounds more like surrender than amusement. He falls back beside Taehyung, shaking his head.
“You’re going to drive me mad.”
“Good,” Taehyung answers brightly, nestling into the pillows like a cat. “I’d hate to be forgettable.”
Jungkook turns his head, studying him with a look caught between exasperation and awe. And then, quietly, as if speaking to himself: “You never could be.”
Their shoulders graze. Their scents tangle. The kiss does not come that night, but the ghost of it lazes in the air; sweeter for its absence, promising everything yet to unfold.

The next morning, the palace stirs awake slowly. Sunlight streams through glass windows that are as tall as towers, laying golden paths across marble floors. The halls are hush with the kind of quiet that comes after a night of celebrations. Outside, the garden fountains trickle softly, the air cool and perfumed with roses.
But inside the East wing? Here, Taehyung pads barefoot with his robe loose around his shoulders and hair a soft tumble down his neck. His eyes are still heavy with sleep, yet an impish glint is already brewing in them as he walks down the hallway, carrying himself like he owns the palace, even if technically he has only been brought into it last night.
His friends are waiting for him in his sitting area. Of course, they are.
“Oh. My. God,” Jimin gasps, clutching Yoongi’s arm dramatically, as he peers at the strutting omega, “I told you he’d sneak out wearing nothing respectable! I swear to God, Yoon, he will cause another war!”
Yoongi barely straightens from where he is leaning against a carved pillar, hands tucked in his sleeves. His sharp eyes sweep over Taehyung once, wavering on the open fold of his robe where the silk threatens to plunge too far. Snorting, he murmurs, “I don’t think he snuck out… rather, he looks like he was chased by thieves."
“I was not chased,” Taehyung scoffs, primly tugging the robe back into place as he crosses the colonnade with unhurried steps, chin lifted in faux indignation.
“Doesn’t look like it,” Yoongi drawls.
Taehyung dismisses him with a wave.
“Can you two quit it!” Jimin groans before he continues, barely stopping himself from bouncing on his toes. “Tell me what happened? You left the prince in his bed, didn’t you?”
Taehyung lifts a brow. “You wouldn’t hear anything from me.”
“Oh my gods.” Jimin slaps a hand over his mouth in fake shock, golden hair catching the sunlight like a halo. “He abandoned the prince on his first morning together?!?”
Yoongi peers at him with barely concealed interest.
Taehyung flicks his sleeve at them both as if to shoo gnats. “He’s asleep. Very deeply, I might add. I doubt the prince noticed anything.”
Yoongi’s mouth twitches, close to a smirk. “Brave of you to assume he hasn’t.”
Taehyung pretends not to hear. Instead, he tilts his face up toward the morning sun, robe slipping dangerously again. “Mm, this air is divine. Better than being cooped up in that chamber all night.”
“All night?” Jimin pounces instantly. “So… something happened?”
“Jimin!” Taehyung swats at him, scandalised.
The omega only giggles, unrepentant. “I am hoping for details! You two were alone with all that candlelight and—”
“Enough,” Taehyung interrupts, ears burning. “If I share, it will not be with you.”
Yoongi finally lets the smirk surface. “He’s blushing.”
“I am not!” Taehyung spins on them, indignant… which only deepens the flush creeping across his cheeks.
“Oh, you are,” Jimin sings, eyes sparkling. “Yoon, look at his ears! They’re on fire.”
“I should never have brought either of you to the wedding,” Taehyung mutters, crossing his arms dramatically.
But before Jimin can poke further, the sound of steady footsteps echoes at the far end of the walkway.
All three of them still.
The change in the air comes first. A sort of.. shift in pressure as the faint but sharp curl of Cedar and Thyme drifts through the breeze. It’s rich, grounding and threaded with something darker that prickles at Taehyung’s skin. His stomach sweeps traitorously, though he masks it behind a flick of his hair.
Jungkook appears a moment later, striding through the colonnade with a silent predatory grace that he wears like a second skin.
His dark robe is fitting sharply against his frame, and his hair’s pulled back neatly now, as if the sleep-rumpled boy that Taehyung left behind in bed never existed.
But it’s his eyes.
His eyes that seek Taehyung instantly. And linger.
Taehyung was smug a few minutes ago, thinking he’d escaped unnoticed. But the way Jungkook’s gaze sweeps over him now, pausing on his loose robe, the bare dip of his collarbone, the fact that he’s barefoot— yes, Jungkook notices.
And he does not look pleased.
“Taehyung.”
Jungkook says it quietly, but there’s no mistaking the edge in it.
Taehyung arches a brow, feigning innocence. “Good morning, husband.”
Yoongi’s eyes flit between them with open curiosity. Jimin bites his lip to hide a grin.
Jungkook pokes his inner cheek with his tongue. “You should be dressed.”
“Oh? But I am dressed,” Taehyung replies sweetly, gesturing at the silk robe draped around him.
Jungkook’s nostrils flare just as his scent thickens with a sharper note, coiling with warning. “Properly. Courtiers are already awake. Anyone could see you like this.”
“Oh no,” Taehyung gasps theatrically, pressing a hand to his chest. “The horror. Will the kingdom collapse because they see a sliver of my collarbone?”
Jimin snorts audibly into his sleeve while Yoongi lets out a quiet cough that sounds suspiciously like a laugh.
“Taehyung,” Jungkook mutters again, voice low.
Taehyung tips his head, eyes wide, smile dancing on his lips. “Yes?”
“You know what I mean.”
“I don’t, actually.” Taehyung’s voice turns deliberately airy. “Perhaps you should demonstrate what properly dressed looks like.”
For a beat, Jungkook merely stares, caught between fury and disbelief. His hands flex at his sides as though itching to grab and pull the robe close himself, whilst his scent keeps pressing tighter, hotter.
Taehyung’s heart thuds too fast, too loud, but he only bats his lashes. “You’re glaring like I’ve committed treason.”
“You’re tempting trouble,” Jungkook shoots, almost under his breath.
Taehyung’s grin sharpens. “That’s my specialty.”
The air between them crackles, tension sharp enough that even the roses seem to hush.
Jimin covers his mouth to keep from bursting into giggles. Yoongi simply shakes his head, murmuring, “Children.”
“Children who look very pretty,” Jimin corrects in a whisper that Taehyung’s sure the alpha heard.
Jungkook exhales heavily, as if restraining himself from doing something rash… like teaching the omega a lesson.
He pivots sharply, his robe flaring as he strides past them.
His voice is clipped as he orders over his shoulder: “Be dressed for the gathering.”
Taehyung watches him disappear down the corridor, a wicked smile tugging at his lips.
Jimin bounces immediately at his side. “He’s jealous!”
“Protective,” Yoongi corrects.
“Possessive,” Taehyung murmurs, still smiling. He stretches languidly, his robe slipping dangerously again. “And it’s only the morning after. This is going to be so fun.”

The midday sun has turned the palace greens into a watercolour painting— blooming roses, koi gliding beneath lotus leaves and the faint buzz of bees orbiting lavender. The air smells of mint and jasmine, sweet enough to make Taehyung hum dramatically as he ambles along the stone path.
The omega breathes in deeply, stretching his arms wide as if he can gather the entire garden to himself.
“Finally,” he sighs theatrically, leaning his head to catch the breeze. “Fresh air. I thought I would drown in perfume and powdered wigs back in that hall.”
Jimin giggles beside him, correcting his robe. “It wasn’t that bad! Though…” He slants close, voice dropping conspiratorially. “The Duke of Ulsan definitely stared too long at you. I think his monocle almost fell out.”
Taehyung gasps in mock offence. “How dare he? Didn’t anyone tell him I’m a married omega now?” He flutters his lashes exaggeratedly.
Yoongi, walking half a step behind, gives a long-suffering sigh. “Everyone within fifty miles of the palace knows. There’s not a single banner without your face painted on it. Haven’t been for a week now.”
“Exactly,” Taehyung answers smugly, lifting his chin. “So it’s doubly rude for him to ogle me.”
“Pretty sure you enjoy being ogled,” Yoongi mumbles under his breath, though there was no true bite in it.
Taehyung rolls his eyes. “But seriously, if one more noble aunt pinches my cheek and tells me I’ll ‘soften the crown prince’s edges,’ I’ll dissolve into petals on the spot.”.
“Wouldn’t that be an improvement?” Yoongi asks, his deadpan as steady as the fountain beside them.
“Rude,” Taehyung sniffs as he swirls around, arms wide, letting the sunlight catch on his pale robe. “Do you see how beautiful I am? If I dissolved, the kingdom would mourn.”
“Or celebrate,” Yoongi mutters, but his eyes soften faintly at Taehyung’s laughter.
Jimin grins, bouncing at his side. “Don’t listen to him, Tae. You’re radiant. Like a flower. Or… or a very mischievous cat that knocks things off tables just to watch people panic.”
“Exactly,” Taehyung exclaims proudly. “Chaotic elegance. It’s an art.”
Just like that, they meander further down the path, Jimin looping his arm through Taehyung’s, Yoongi trailing behind them like a reluctant chaperone. Taehyung talks animatedly about the tapestries he’s seen in the northern wing, his hands sketching grand shapes in the air, and how he’s going to have one commissioned of himself for his room.
Yoongi rolls his eyes at that. “Only you would look at tapestries and think of that.”
Taehyung merely hums, spinning suddenly to walk backwards along the path, his robe trailing like spilt ink behind him. “What’s the point of beauty if it’s not admired?”
“Dangerous words,” Jimin teases, eyes twinkling. “If your prince heard you say that…”
Taehyung clicks his tongue. “He’s too busy scowling at trade maps to care.”
The omega knows better than to tempt fate, yet he does. He does, for he is somewhat miffed, but too proud to acknowledge.
So, when the shift hits him almost instantly, the barest ripple in the air brushing against his skin, his pulse skips.
But, Taehyung doesn’t turn immediately.
He takes another few steps backwards, pretending not to notice, though his heart beats faster. He knows that scent by now, the way it seems to anchor him even when he wants to float away.
Jimin notices first, eyes widening. “Oh… oh no.”
Yoongi raises a brow, his mouth parting around a warning, but a little too late as Taehyung’s heel catches on the uneven lip of a stone.
The world tilts.
He gasps, arms flailing as his balance slips away. The ground rushes up—
—but never reaches him.
Strong arms close around Taehyung’s waist, bucking him upright before he can even stumble.
Taehyung blinks, dazed, finding himself pressed against the very man who abandoned him that morning.
Jungkook’s grip is iron around him, one arm bracing his waist, the other steady at his shoulder. His heart hammers against Taehyung’s back like a drum.
“You could have fallen,” Jungkook says, voice low, rough with something sharp as his hands sweep down his arms quickly, checking for injuries, even though he caught the omega in time.
His thumb lingers at Taehyung’s wrist, pressing against the fluttering pulse there.
“I didn’t,” Taehyung replies, a little breathless, a little dazed.
“You could have broken your ankle. Hit your head. Worse,” Jungkook continues, ignoring the audience.
“I tripped on a stone,” Taehyung answers, a chuckle spilling out before he can stop it. “I’m not dying.”
But Jungkook doesn’t let go.
His eyes scan Taehyung’s face, his throat, his arms, as if needing proof. His scent thickens, rolling over the air until even Yoongi shifts uncomfortably at the edge of it.
Jimin’s mouth is hanging open. “Wow. This is… dramatic.”
“Overdramatic,” Taehyung corrects quickly, wriggling in Jungkook’s grasp. “Let me go, or everyone will think I’m fragile.”
“You are,” Jungkook snaps before he can think. His eyes widen slightly at his own words, but he doesn’t retract them. “At least compared to me. And you weren’t watching where you stepped.”
Taehyung blinks up at him, then grins wickedly. “Oh. So you were watching me?”
The silence that follows is worth every scraped toe in the world.
Jimin chokes on his laughter, clapping a hand over his mouth. Yoongi’s eyes narrow, his twitching lips betraying him. Jungkook, however, stiffens, ears turning red, his grip finally loosening just enough for Taehyung to step back.
“I watch everything,” Jungkook huffs.
“Mhm.” Taehyung leans a little closer, enough that his words brush Jungkook’s jaw. “Sounds like you were watching me specifically.”
The omega’s scent brightens, mischievous and sweet, deliberately wrapping around Jungkook’s sharper notes.
Jungkook inhales despite himself, his grip unconsciously tightening at Taehyung’s waist.
“Your safety isn’t a game,” he mutters, trying to anchor himself.
“And your scowl isn’t flattering,” Taehyung shoots back lightly, though his heart thumps too fast.
He steps back at last, slipping free of Jungkook’s hold with a flourish of his robe. “But it’s very entertaining.”
Jungkook’s hand lingers in the air a second too long before dropping. His gaze follows Taehyung even as the omega rejoins Jimin’s side, head held high, smirk firmly in place.
“Come along,” Taehyung says breezily. “Let’s keep walking before he throws me in a padded chamber.”
Jimin breaks into giggles, skipping to keep up. Yoongi gives Jungkook a long, unreadable look, then a nod before following.
Left behind for a moment, Jungkook exhales slowly, fists flexing at his sides.
His chest still thrums with the panic of seeing Taehyung fall, and he hates it. Hates how his instincts surged so possessively and protectively.
When he catches up, the omega pretends not to notice the way Jungkook hovers too close now, one step behind him, as though ready to catch him again at the slightest sway.
He pretends to not notice it all, yet his lips curve in a private smile.

The great hall is alive with chatter in the evening, voices rising beneath the glitter of a hundred candles. Nobles in silks and velvets cluster like jewelled birds, exchanging bows and gossip, their scents mingling in a heady haze of clove, wine, and sweet citrus.
The night is meant to be simple— a quiet celebration, nothing complicated. However, simplicity and Taehyung have never quite seen eye-to-eye.
So, it’s no wonder that he enters the hall like a whispered scandal.
It’s not the garment the chamberlain laid out for him. Not the proper blue that would mark him as the Crown Consort. No, Taehyung picks, by accident, of course, something loose. Something more brazen.
His attire is crimson, cut scandalously low at the chest, sleeves sheer enough that light passes through them. The fabric clings in places it shouldn’t, and where it doesn’t… it sways dangerously with every step. The omega even decides to leave the fastening at his throat deliberately loose, exposing a sliver of caramel skin at the dip of his collarbones.
The whispers start instantly.
“Too bold for a newlywed.”
“Does he mean to tempt the court?”
“An omega should…”
Taehyung lets them ripple around him like music, head held high, lips curving in an artful half-smile as he descends down the staircase. Jimin trails at his side, trying and failing not to laugh at the scandalised looks, while Yoongi follows behind, hands tucked into his sleeves, already bracing himself for what is to come.
It doesn’t take long.
Jungkook is at the far end of the hall, standing with Namjoon, Jin, and Hoseok as they discuss trade routes. He isn’t smiling, not exactly, but there’s a rare calm in the line of his shoulders. Until he turns—
And sees Taehyung.
His expression freezes.
Namjoon’s words falter. Jin raises a brow. And Hoseok? The ever-drama-loving Hoseok lets out a low whistle.
Jungkook’s eyes darken instantly, his nostrils flaring as his omega’s scent wafts through the hall. Sweet like spring rain, threaded with mischief. Mischief, he recognises all too well.
Taehyung meets his gaze across the room, lips twitching just slightly; something not unlike a challenge.
The crowd parts instinctively, bowing, as Jungkook pads across the chamber, his steps quick and willful. Conversations dip into muted tones, eyes hovering between the scandalously dressed omega and the storm gathering in the crown prince’s stride.
Jimin whispers, “You’re dead.”
Taehyung’s grin widens. “Worth it.”
“Remind me why I agreed to come?” Yoongi mutters, though his eyes glitter with quiet amusement.
By the time Jungkook reaches the bottom of the staircase, the air between them crackles with tension, every noble within earshot feigning to admire the chandeliers whilst leaning just enough to hear.
Jungkook stops directly in front of Taehyung, his gaze sweeping over the robe with slow, incredulous intensity. His voice, when it comes, is marked with something low and dangerous.
“What are you wearing?”
Taehyung tilts his head, feigning innocence. “Clothes. Why? Do you not like them?”
“You know exactly what I mean.”
“I chose it especially for tonight,” Taehyung replies sweetly, twirling once so the sheer fabric ripples. “Don’t I look beautiful?”
A muscle ticks in Jungkook’s jaw. “You—”
The hall collectively holds its breath.
Jungkook leans closer, voice rough in his ear. “You think this is a game?”
“Yes,” Taehyung murmurs back, deliberately brushing his fingers along Jungkook’s sleeve. “And you play it very well.”
The prince’s discretion snaps just enough. His hand shoots out, gripping Taehyung’s wrist.
The contact sends heat sparking up Taehyung’s arm, his smirk faltering for the briefest second.
Jungkook’s thumb presses against the rapid beat of the omega’s pulse.
“Stop testing me,” He says, low enough that only Taehyung can hear.
“Or what?” Taehyung breathes, his eyes gleaming.
The silence stretches, weighted, while Jungkook visibly restrains himself. His scent spikes, hot and territorial, before he forces it under control again.
Around them, whispers ripple. Courtiers watch with unabashed fascination. A few young alphas at the edge of the crowd linger, their gazes sliding too boldly over Taehyung’s form.
Jungkook notices. His teeth clench as his hand curls into fists at his sides.
Taehyung notices him noticing. His heart skips.
He turns deliberately, leaning over the railing, tilting his head so his throat is bare to the night air. Behind him, he feels Jungkook’s control fray, like a bowstring pulled too taut.
Jimin is biting his knuckles to keep from squealing. Yoongi’s lips twitch like he’s watching a well-played chess match.
Jungkook exhales through his nose, dragging his gaze up to meet Taehyung’s fully. “You want them to stare?” His voice dips, just as his eyes narrow. “Then let them watch me remind you who you belong to.”
Right as Taehyung opens his mouth, a strong hand closes around his waist, dragging him close. And before the omega can blink, Jungkook’s lips are on his, fierce and unyielding.
The world tilts.
Taehyung’s lips part in shock, and the kiss deepens instantly.
Jungkook presses him back against the pavilion post with one hand braced beside the omega’s head and the other firm at his waist.
His scent rolls out, overwhelming and searing away every trace of incense or smoke in the air. Every other note that is not cedar and thyme and his.
Gasps ripple through the hall.
Taehyung’s heart thunders. For all his provocations, for all his deliberate games, nothing’s quite prepared him for… this.
The raw hunger in Jungkook’s touch, the way his breath stutters as though he’s still restraining and it is killing him.
When Jungkook finally pulls back, it is only just enough to look at him.
His eyes are dark, voice ragged. “You’re mine. Don’t forget that.”
The pavilion is silent, the distant music threading faintly through the air. Dozens of eyes upon them.
And Taehyung? With his lips swollen, chest rising quickly with shallow breaths, he lets out a slow, wicked smile. “If you wanted to kiss me,” he murmurs, loud enough for the nearest courtiers to hear, “you could have just asked.”
The crowd erupts, a frenzy of rumour already taking flight.
Jungkook doesn’t look away. Doesn’t care. His hand remains at Taehyung’s waist, firm and protective, even as his ears burn crimson.
Yoongi’s smirk is audible in his drawled comment from the side: “Well. That’ll make the morning gazettes.”
Hoseok clutches his fan to his chest, eyes shining. “I think I might faint.”
But Taehyung merely leans closer into Jungkook’s space, a dangerous glimmer in his eye, and whispers so soft that only the alpha hears: “You fell right into my trap.”
And Jungkook, who has spent his life bending armies and breaking borders, realises, with something like awe and terror, that this beautiful, chaotic omega will be the only battle he will never win.

Morning light dribbles into the royal wing, pale and golden, softening the edges of carved wood and silk-draped walls. Outside, the palace gardens hum with cicadas, but inside, the chambers are hushed, save for the occasional rustle of sheets as Taehyung shifts lazily in bed.
He lies sprawled across the centre, robe loose, hair a glorious tangle around his face. His eyes are half-closed, but the smug curve of his lips betrays that he is very much awake.
“Stop pretending to sleep.”
Jungkook’s voice cut through the quiet.
He is standing by the window, already dressed in his dark court robes, the morning sun catching on the gold embroidery at his collar. His jaw is taut, his arms crossed.
Taehyung cracks one eye open, his smile broadening. “Mhm. Good morning, my husband.”
Jungkook doesn’t answer, merely tosses a folded sheet of parchment onto the bed. The wax seal is already broken.
Taehyung stretches lazily before plucking it up. His eyes scan the bold ink, and a laugh bubbles out of him. “Ah. ‘The Crown Prince Claims His Mate Beneath Chandeliers.’ Oh, that’s poetic. They make it sound like a ballad.”
“Half the court saw us.” Jungkook’s tone is tight, though his ears divulge him, tinged faint pink. “By sunrise, the entire kingdom knew.”
“And?” Taehyung flips the parchment onto the covers and rolls onto his stomach, propping his chin on his hands. “Isn’t that good? Everyone knows you want me.”
Jungkook’s nostrils flare. “That isn’t the point.”
“Oh, I think it is very much the point,” Taehyung counters sweetly.
His scent drifts through the room, playful wildflowers threaded with spice, meandering unhurriedly around Jungkook. “You were jealous. You couldn’t stand others looking at me.”
Jungkook turns from the window, eyes narrowing. “They shouldn’t look at what isn’t theirs.”
Taehyung’s lips part, his usual retort vanishing. But then mischief flickers back into his eyes.
He pushes himself up onto his knees, crawling across the sheets with feline grace until he is perched at the edge of the bed, gazing up at Jungkook.
“Then maybe,” he murmurs, “you should kiss me again. Right now. So anyone walking past will hear and know I’m yours.”
Jungkook’s breath stutters.
He can smell the provocation in Taehyung’s scent, can see the gleam of challenge in his gaze. His hands clench at his sides, aching to reach, to take.
But he doesn’t make a move for the omega.
Instead, he leans down slowly, bracing one hand on the bed beside Taehyung.
Their faces hover a breath apart, Jungkook’s eyes dark and steady, Taehyung’s wide with anticipation.
“No,” Jungkook whispers, his timbre like a blade’s edge. “Not because you demand it. When I kiss you again, Taehyung, it will be because you beg me to.”
The omega freezes, his mouth falling open, his heart giving a treacherous flutter. Heat crawls up his neck, both from irritation and something far more dangerous.
He rallies quickly, of course; Taehyung always does.
A sly smile curves his lips as he sits back on his heels, feigning nonchalance. “We’ll see who begs first, Your Highness.”
From the doorway, a soft cough shatters the charged silence.
Namjoon stands there, expression flat, with Jin peeking around his shoulder with wide, sparkling eyes.
“Are we interrupting?” He drawls, though his gaze lingers suspiciously on the flushed curve of Taehyung’s mouth and the tense line of Jungkook’s shoulders.
“Always,” Jungkook mutters, stepping back abruptly.
Jin bites back a giggle. “We just came to tell you that the market is already buzzing about last night. There are paintings being sold at the gates. Paintings.”
Taehyung lights up, clapping his hands together. “Already? Oh, I must see them.”
Jungkook pinches the bridge of his nose, muttering something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like a prayer for patience.
But Taehyung only laughs, rising from the bed with all the unbothered grace of someone who knows exactly how deep he is under Jungkook’s skin — and exactly how long he can keep him there.

The carriage rattles down the forest road, its wheels bumping over stones slick with mud. Beyond the windows, rain falls in sheets, blurring the world into watercolour greys. The storm had risen without warning, scattering the gathering— half the entourage taking refuge in a nearby inn, while Jungkook drove forward, taking only Taehyung and a skeleton guard into the storm.
Inside the carriage, the lantern sways with every bump, casting restless shadows over the polished wood and velvet cushions. The air’s thick with the mingling scents of damp fabric, wet earth, and— more potently— the subtle curl of cedar and flowers.
Taehyung is sitting with his cheek squashed against the cool glass of the window, watching raindrops chase each other in crooked paths. His dark hair curls around his face, refusing to be tamed. He looks more like a fae prince than a crown consort: so soft and luminous, untouchable in ways he isn’t aware of.
Across from him, Jungkook is sitting rigidly, his hands braced on his knees, his posture perfect despite the swaying of the carriage. He, somewhat, looks as if he’s carved from the same steel as his sword, gaze fixed on some invisible point beyond Taehyung’s shoulder.
Of course, it doesn’t help that the storm has soaked Taehyung’s clothes thin, clinging where Jungkook’s gaze shouldn’t linger... Or that the omega’s scent is spiced now, sweetened by rain and something warmer beneath it. Something playful, maddening.
The silence between them has stretched too long.
“You could sit closer, you know,” Taehyung murmurs at last, breaking it with the deliberate laziness of a cat stretching. His voice curling into the shadows like silk.
Jungkook’s eyes flick to him, sharp as a blade. “Why would I?”
Taehyung tilts his head, feigning thoughtfulness. “Because you’re making the carriage look uneven. All that weight on one side… it feels unbalanced.”
“I’m fine here,” Jungkook mutters.
The response is too quick, too clipped. Taehyung’s lips curve in satisfaction. “Are you afraid I’ll bite?”
“No.”
“Then what is it?” Taehyung shifts, folding one leg beneath him, leaning forward to rest his chin in his hand.
His gaze is direct, playful, but threaded with genuine curiosity. “Do you find me unbearable already?”
Jungkook holds his eyes for a long moment.
The lantern-light catches the angles of the alpha’s face— the slight furrow between his brows, the restraint winding tight across his expression.
“You enjoy provoking me.” He sighs.
“Yes,” Taehyung admits instantly, his grin bright and shameless. “It’s my favoured pastime.”
The admission hits Jungkook like a stone dropped into a still pool. His nostrils flare, his scent thickening briefly before he reins it back. Again. “You’ll regret it one day.”
“Perhaps.” Taehyung’s tone is sing-song, careless. But beneath the mischief is something sharper, a spark that Jungkook can’t ignore. “But not today.”
Just then, the carriage lurches suddenly, wheels dropping into a rut. The lantern swings violently, and Taehyung yelps, slipping sideways.
He doesn’t hit the floor.
Of course, he doesn’t, when in a beat, Jungkook’s hand shoots out, catching his wrist, tugging him upright. But… the momentum carries, and Taehyung tumbles forward— straight into Jungkook’s lap.
The world seems to pause.
Taehyung’s palms press to Jungkook’s chest, his heartbeat pounding like a war drum beneath the touch. Jungkook’s arm tightens around his waist, his body drawing the omega close.
Their faces hover inches apart, breath tangling in the charged air.
“Careful,” Jungkook mutters, voice lower than he intends, roughened by the surge of instinct.
“You caught me,” Taehyung breathes, dazed but amused. His lips curve faintly. “Again.”
Jungkook’s grip tightens on the omega’s waist before he forces it to ease as he remembers himself.
He sets Taehyung back with deliberate care, though his hand lingers a second too long at the omega’s side, thumb brushing over silk.
Taehyung slides back onto his own seat slowly, deliberately, eyes never leaving Jungkook’s.
His smile sharpens. “You’re very good at catching me. Maybe I should fall more often, husband.”
“Don’t.” The word is harsher than Jungkook means, the edge of panic still in it.
“Why not?”
“Because one day,” Jungkook starts, and this time his voice cracks with sincerity, “I might not be there.”
The silence that follows is thick. The storm outside seems to quieten, or perhaps it’s only that the pounding in Taehyung’s chest drowns everything else out. His grin falters, just for a breath, replaced by something softer in his eyes.
But softness is dangerous. So he tips his head, lets his hair fall into his eyes, and smiles again. “Then I’ll just have to make sure you always are.”
Jungkook exhales sharply, as though he’s been struck.
He leans back into his seat, jaw clenching, gaze dropping briefly to his hands. His fingers flex once against his knees, the image of Taehyung in his lap still seared behind his eyes.
The lantern swings again, shadows chasing across the carriage. Neither speaks for a long while.
All the while, air remains heavy with their scents, tangled so thoroughly that it’s impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins.
And, when the wheels jolt over another rut, Jungkook’s hand shoots out instinctively toward Taehyung again, only to stop halfway, curling back into a fist against the cushion.
Taehyung sees it. And smiles to himself, turning back to the rain-streaked window, heart beating far too fast for someone so composed.

The palace gardens are quiet that morn, almost unreal in their calm. A soft haze of mist hangs in the air, the early autumn sun filtering through the leaves like molten gold. Dew still clings to petals, glinting on roses and chrysanthemums, and the gentle hum of bees is the only sound besides the occasional ripple of water in the koi pond.
Taehyung insisted on walking after the lavish food. Jimin and Yoongi offer to escort him, but he waves them off with a flourish.
“I need private time with my husband,” he declares, voice full of mischief, though his eyes glimmer softly in the morning light.
And Jungkook can only sigh as he follows the omega, hands clasped behind his back, long strides eating up the distance effortlessly.
There is a stiffness to him, the kind that comes from long hours of duty, but Taehyung can sense the softening beneath it, the subtle unguardedness that no one else ever sees.
“You walk too stiff,” Taehyung calls, spinning on his heel to face him. His robe swishes softly, catching the sun in golden highlights. “You should loosen up.”
“I’m fine,” Jungkook replies, though the corners of his mouth twitch.
Taehyung lets out an exasperated sigh as he saunters closer, deliberately brushing an arm against Jungkook’s.
The brush is soft, but it makes Jungkook stiff at once. He peers down at the omega, dark eyes sharp but tinged with something warmer than usual.
“Fiiiine,” Taehyung drawls, smiling, “but I think you’re lying.”
Jungkook’s jaw flexes. “I’m not.”
“Then you’re just trying to resist me.”
The words are soft, playful, yet they carry a weight that makes Jungkook’s pulse quicken.
He exhales slowly, turning slightly so that his arm brushes lightly against Taehyung’s shoulder as they walk.
The contact is subtle but enough to make Taehyung’s lips curve into a private smile as they stroll past the koi pond. The one whose water reflects the ripples of the sunlight.
Taehyung leans over the railing, watching a golden koi swim lazily beneath the surface.
“They always look so peaceful,” he murmurs. “But I think they’re plotting something.”
“Plotting what?” Jungkook asks, tilting slightly to meet his gaze.
This new angle of the alpha’s eyes makes Taehyung’s stomach flip in a way he only read about in fairytales when he was a child.
“To escape,” Taehyung mumbles softly, resting his chin on his crossed arms against the railing. “Or to make me jealous. One of the two.”
Jungkook’s lips twitch, the corner of his mouth lifting just slightly. “Do you think you’re like them?”
Taehyung tilts his head. “Hmm… maybe. I like stirring things up, yes. But you… you’re like the pond. Calm and steady, but…”
“But?”
Taehyung looks away. “But full of depth.”
Jungkook’s breath hitches almost imperceptibly.
“Depth isn’t always safe,” he replies quietly, voice low, almost a whisper.
“And yet,” Taehyung murmurs, hiding the lower part of his face, “you are letting me in.”
Jungkook freezes for a heartbeat, but then…then he reaches out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind Taehyung’s ear.
His fingers brush the back of the omega’s neck, lingering there in a way that sends warmth curling through Taehyung’s chest.
“Only because I choose to,” he answers softly, voice steady yet intimate.
Taehyung’s grin returns, small and wicked. “See? I can get you to admit things. You’re putty in my hands.”
“I’m not putty.” Jungkook rolls his eyes, though the tension in his shoulders softens. His hands drop to rest lightly on the railing near Taehyung’s. “I’m… careful.”
“Careful,” Taehyung repeats, testing the word with a hum. “Hmm. I like careful. But I prefer bold.”
Jungkook’s dark eyes hold his for a long moment before he leans slightly closer.
His scent curls around the omega in a gentle embrace.
Taehyung closes his eyes briefly, letting it wash over him.
“You’re bold,” Jungkook finally says in a voice that’s quiet, almost tender. “And reckless. But I… like it. I like you.”
Taehyung blinks, breath catching.
“You like me?” he echoes, voice soft, incredulous but full of warmth.
“Yes.” Jungkook’s hand brushes lightly against the small of the omega’s back, guiding him gently past the pond’s edge. “All of you.”
The moment stretches.
Taehyung worries his lower lip. “Me too.”
Leaning into the touch, he rests his head lightly against Jungkook’s shoulder, closing his eyes.
“I like you too.”
For once, there is no provocation, no teasing — only the quiet intimacy of two people alone in the sunlit gardens. Their breath is soft as their scents mingle and hearts thud in tandem.
“See?” Taehyung eventually murmurs, his lips just brushing the fabric of Jungkook’s robe. “You’re my pond now.”
“And you’re my chaos,” Jungkook replies, voice low, almost a rasp, but soft enough that Taehyung shivers.
They stay like that for a long while, walking slowly through the gardens, leaning into one another whilst the world fades around them.
There’s no need for grand gestures. No need for a rush. For the space between them— their breath, their warmth, and the light brush of fingers— is enough.

The study is dimly lit, amber from the lantern perched on the desk. Bookshelves line the walls, their spines gleaming in polished wood, and the faint scent of aged parchment and cedar hangs in the air. Outside, rain begins to patter softly against the windows, a rhythm that matches Taehyung’s heartbeat.
He is lounging in the chair opposite Jungkook’s desk, robe loose enough to reveal a hint of collarbone.
A small book rests in his hands, though he isn’t really reading it.
“You’re far too quiet tonight,” Taehyung eventually murmurs, letting his gaze wander lazily over Jungkook. “Brooding, hmm? Should I be worried?”
Jungkook doesn’t answer immediately.
He’s focused on a ledger, quill poised over the page, but the tongue poking his cheek betrays him.
His scent shifts, thickening subtly with the rain outside and the omega’s proximity.
“Should you be?” The alpha finally asks.
“Perhaps.” Taehyung tilts his head, allowing a few strands of hair to slip over his eyes. “Or maybe I should simply entertain you.”
Jungkook’s eyes flick up, and the space between them seems to constrict. “Entertain me?”
“Yes.” Taehyung leans forward slightly, elbows resting on his desk, letting the robe slip a fraction farther down his shoulder. “By being your chaos, remember?”
Jungkook’s hand flexes over the quill. He sets it down, letting the ledger slide close with a soft thump. “You’re testing me.”
“And you love it,” Taehyung whispers, letting his fingers trail over the book’s edge, deliberately brushing against Jungkook’s hand as he reaches for it.
The contact is feather-light but enough to make alpha’s pulse spike.
“You know I don’t lose control,” Jungkook replies, voice low, as he stands and moves around the desk.
Each step is sure, unhurried.
He’s close now, and the omega can feel the heat rolling off him as he continues, “Not in front of others. Not even here.”
Taehyung smirks, tilting his head. “But you did…once.”
Jungkook hums as he inches closer.
Peering at the omega, he murmurs, “That was not losing control, that was me claiming what’s mine.”
Taehyung feels his ears burning, yet his lips curve into a slow, wicked grin. “Mhm. Still you’re breathing faster than when we walked in the garden, remember?”
“I am not,” Jungkook feigns an eye roll, though his countenance subtly glints with dark amusement.
“You are,” Taehyung counters softly as his scent drifts closer, tinged with something sweet and spicy. “You’re always betraying yourself when I’m near.”
Jungkook’s eyes darken as he closes the distance.
The warmth of his body presses just faintly into Taehyung’s side as he mutters, “Am I, now? Or is it you?”
“Maybe,” Taehyung breathes, “or maybe I’m simply showing you how irresistible you find me.”
The omega’s fingers graze against Jungkook’s hand again, and this time, Jungkook’s restraint thins dangerously.
His scent flares, rich and possessive, surrounding the omega like a physical force.
Taehyung inhales, letting himself savour it, letting it curl through him, teasing and pulling.
“You smell…” he mumbles, leaning closer. “… like storm clouds.”
“And you…” Jungkook exhales.
“Like?” Taehyung whispers.
“Like temptation,” Jungkook replies, voice rougher, lower.
His hand brushes against the small of Taehyung’s back. Not touching fully, but just enough to make the omega’s knees weaken.
Taehyung tilts his head up, lips dusting against Jungkook’s collarbone as he whispers, “Am I playing too much?”
“Never,” Jungkook breathes as he finally closes the distance fully, letting his forehead rest briefly against Taehyung’s.
Taehyung's eyes drop lower, lingering at the alpha's mouth before he snaps them up.
Jungkook's hands still coast at the omega’s back, present but not fully. “Not yet. Soon.”
Taehyung’s heart thunders. The restraint, the edging, the promise… It’s exquisite.
He presses closer, just slightly, almost teasing as he lets Jungkook feel the subtle play of his pulse under his skin.
“Soon?” He whispers back, almost inaudible, voice trembling with anticipation and delight.
“Yes,” Jungkook answers, his lips brushing just near Taehyung’s ear. “…when I say so.”
The rain outside picks up, drumming against the windowpane like applause. But, in the quiet of the study, the lantern light flickers across the polished floor, wrapping them together in a bubble of slow-burning intimacy.
Taehyung smiles softly, letting himself sink into the edge of temptation without crossing the line.
He can wait. He wants to wait… but the promise hangs between them, thick and heavy, teasing him and intoxicating him.
“Good,” he eventually mumbles, eyes half-lidded. “I like being edged.”
Jungkook’s lips curve just slightly whilst his eyes gleam like a predator in the golden light.
“You’ll be rewarded,” he murmurs, his breath warm against Taehyung’s skin, but unmistakably full of intent.
And Taehyung shivers, feeling the pull of desire and the thrill of restraint.
They stay like this for what feels like hours.
The rain outside matches the slow, measured pulse of the room, the quiet intimacy, the teasing and layered touches — until finally, Jungkook’s hand brushes a little lower, over the curve of Taehyung’s hip, and the omega gasps softly.
Not yet. Not completely. But the edges of everything have been touched, the promise still hanging between them.
And neither of them moves to break it.

The grand hall shimmers with gold and crystal as the sunlight bounces off polished floors and chandeliers. Courtiers move in measured elegance, voices muted, whilst a delicate hum of polite conversation fills the air. The royal banners flutter lightly in the breeze from the open windows, carrying the faint scent of jasmine from the gardens outside.
Jungkook stands tall beside Taehyung, shoulders squared, chin lifted. The crown prince performing his duty.
He greets dignitaries, accepts bows, and exchanges the necessary formalities. His movements are precise, his voice even and commanding, yet under it all, there is a calm warmth for Taehyung beside him.
Taehyung follows a step behind, the soft fabric of his ceremonial robe brushing along his sides.
He should feel playful, teasing, but today, something has shifted— he feels sharp, alert, like a predator noticing intruders. Each time another alpha or beta, or omega, lets their gaze linger on Jungkook, the air around him seems to thicken.
It starts subtly.
One visiting omega, delicate and elegant, lingers too long when bowing to Jungkook. Her scent— soft, sweet and teasingly warm— spikes faintly in Taehyung’s nostrils.
His chest tightens as a fluttering heat spreads low, almost possessive in its timbre and the easy smile he wears for the court slips.
His eyes narrow, tracking the way her gaze drifts over Jungkook— his jawline, the curve of his shoulder beneath the ceremonial sash, the way his hands move while offering courteous bows.
Jungkook, ever composed, doesn’t notice.
He keeps smiling, exchanging a few polite words in that steady, commanding tone, utterly unaware of the silent storm gathering beside him.
“Taehyung?” Jungkook’s low voice cuts through the hum of the hall. “Everything all right? You’ve been quiet.”
Taehyung’s jaw clenches slightly.
“…Yes,” he murmurs, though his nostrils flare, scent thickening with a minute musk of possessiveness. “…Everything is fine.”
The omega in question steps closer, merely a subtle move, but enough. Enough for Taehyung to sense it, to feel it coil in his chest like a live wire.
Still, he holds back.
But then, she smiles faintly, politely, whilst skimming her fingers against Jungkook’s arm during the conversation, lingering too long over his palm.
And, that? That is the last straw.
Taehyung moves before he even thinks, reducing the distance.
The air between them contracts as their scents collide— his wild, rain-soaked flowers wrapping around Jungkook’s deep cedar and thyme.
Even then, Jungkook, ever the diplomat, doesn’t notice the shift, his attention solely on the visiting courtiers.
Taehyung slips in close, brushing subtly against the alpha’s side, carrying an edge that immediately draws Jungkook’s attention.
“…Excuse me,” the omega murmurs, a soft command disguised in words, “may I have your attention?”
Jungkook turns slightly, eyes meeting Taehyung’s. There’s surprise there— and something else— as he catches the intensity radiating off Taehyung.
“…Of course,” Jungkook answers smoothly. “Is something wrong?”
“Not wrong,” Taehyung says, gaze flicking toward the offending omega. “…Just… misplaced curiosity.”
He lets his fingers graze lightly along Jungkook’s arm, scent rising faintly in a way that is modest and intimate, but impossible to ignore.
“I think some courtiers need a proper reminder,” he murmurs, “… of who you belong to.”
Jungkook’s chest tightens slightly, a low hum of heat stirring through him.
His own scent spikes unconsciously as he feels the possessive energy of his husband coiling around him like a cloak.
The omega may be skilled in subtlety, but Taehyung’s mere presence was a full, palpable claim.
Yet.
Yet, the omega pushes again, leaning in with another light touch as she compliments Jungkook on some minor royal matter.
But before Jungkook can respond or even register the intrusion, Taehyung steps in decisively.
Placing a hand on Jungkook’s chest, he pulls the alpha slightly closer.
His voice drops to a husky whisper that only Jungkook can hear.
“Do you remember the vow?” he breathes.
Jungkook’s pulse spikes. His breath catches.
“…Taehyung…” he murmurs, his flicking toward him, darkening. “Don’t provoke them.”
“Why not?” Taehyung leans closer, so close their words blend in the space between. “…They’ve already noticed you. I think I should remind them you’re mine.”
The other omega freezes, caught in the tension radiating between them.
Taehyung presses even closer, scent curling around Jungkook.
“…Kiss me,” He commands softly; not playful, not teasing, but an assertion of a claim… of desire. “…Here. Now.”
For a heartbeat, Jungkook doesn’t move.
His lips part, but only to let a low sound escape— half a growl, half a laugh— whilst his grip on Taehyung’s hip tightens just enough to remind him who holds the reins.
“Bold,” Jungkook murmurs, eyes glinting with dark amusement. “If we were alone, I’d make you wait until you begged.”
Taehyung’s eyes flash, but before he can retort, Jungkook leans down— slowly and purposefully, because every noble in the hall is already watching with their breath caught.
The kiss isn’t rushed.
It is measured and precise, asserting in its own way, but threaded with amusement.
Jungkook lets Taehyung tangle fingers in his hair, lets him pour every ounce of jealousy into the press of his mouth, while he himself stays calm, indulgent, savouring the taste of that fire.
The court gasps softly, and the ripple of murmurs is immediate. Exactly the reminder Taehyung wants.
Jungkook finally pulls back, barely enough, their lips still brushing.
His voice drops to a murmur meant only for Taehyung. “Satisfied?”
And when Taehyung parts his mouth to reply, he can feel his pulse thundering, his scent still fierce and possessive. “…For now,” he whispers, defiant even in victory.
Jungkook chuckles, the sound dark, pleased and entirely unshaken. “Good. Because next time, you’ll wait until I decide.”
Then he turns smoothly back toward the hall, as if nothing transpired, with his lips curving in a small, knowing smile, and his hand at Taehyung’s waist.
And Taehyung, still burning, realises with a shiver that Jungkook has given him exactly what he wanted… but only on his terms.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
The hallways of the palace have long emptied, leaving only the faint echo of footsteps and the distant hush of guards stationed at their posts. Moonlight spills through arched windows, painting silver on the marble floors.
Taehyung is walking two steps ahead of Jungkook. His robe is whispering across the polished stone, whilst his jaw is tight and his expression, unreadable.
The jealousy from earlier still hangs over him, heavy as a shadow.
He had demanded that kiss in front of everyone, and Jungkook had given it, slow and devastating in its tenderness.
But now… now the silence between them burns.
“You didn’t have to look so pleased with yourself,” Taehyung suddenly says, voice sharp yet soft.
He doesn’t glance back, but Jungkook can see the tilt of his shoulders, the slight tremble of tension in his hands.
“I was pleased,” Jungkook replies smoothly. “And, why shouldn’t I be? My omega demanded a kiss before the court, and I gave it. You took your place at my side. Boldly. Beautifully.”
Taehyung’s pace falters.
His omega.
The word spirals low in his stomach like a pulse of heat that is treacherous and compelling.
He can feel his scent wanting to surge, the flush creeping up his neck, no matter how hard he fights it.
“…Don’t say it like that,” The omega mutters. “…Like you’re proud of me.”
“But, I am.” Jungkook shrugs as they stop before the tall doors of their chambers.
Two guards bow deeply and step aside.
Jungkook nods at them to open the door and gestures for Taehyung to enter first.
The chamber is lit only by a low fire, shadows curling along the walls, whilst the scent of cedar and flowers hangs heavy in the air.
Taehyung crosses the room, shrugging off the outer layer of his robe, draping it carelessly across a chair.
His movements are precise but restless. Every line of his body keeps humming with leftover jealousy and the ache of unsatisfied desire.
Jungkook shuts the door quietly behind him, and for a long moment, he only stares at Taehyung.
The way the firelight kisses the omega’s skin, the curve of his throat as he tilts his head, the faintest tremble of his hands when he loosens the ties of his inner tunic.
“You’re angry,” Jungkook says softly, leaning against the door, arms crossed. His voice is steady, almost amused. “…But not at me.”
Taehyung whips his head toward him, eyes flashing. “…Not at you?”
“No.” Jungkook pushes off the door, slowly walking towards the omega with deliberate steps. “You’re angry at yourself.”
Taehyung’s breath catches, chest rising too quickly. “…Don’t—”
“You wanted to prove something.” Jungkook’s voice dips lower. “To them. To me. To yourself.”
The alpha stops only a foot away, gaze sharp and dark, pinning Taehyung where he stands. “And you did. You demanded, and I obeyed. But that wasn’t enough, was it?”
Taehyung’s lips part, words tangling on his tongue.
His scent betrays him, filling the room with a sweet, rising spice of want. “…You’re insufferable.”
Jungkook tilts his head slightly, studying him, whilst his jaw tightens as he inhales. “Do you know what I’m thinking about right now?”
“I don’t care,” Taehyung shoots back, but his voice wavers, coming out softer than he wants.
Jungkook leans in just slightly, close enough that his breath brushes Taehyung’s lips.
Close enough that their scents tangle thick in the air.
“…I’m thinking about how easily I can kiss you again.”
Taehyung’s pulse leaps, a visible flutter in his throat. “…Then do it.”
Jungkook’s gaze lingers on the omega’s lips, his jaw, his flushed cheeks. The alpha in him growls for it— for surrender, for softness, for the intoxicating sweetness only Taehyung can give. But Jungkook...
“No,” he whispers. “Not because you demand it. I did it there because you staked your right on me so exquisitely, so publicly. But, remember, Tae? Here in our chambers… When I kiss you again, it will be because you beg me to.”
Taehyung freezes. His mouth falls open, and his heart gives a treacherous flutter. Heat crawls up his neck, both from irritation and something far more dangerous.
“…Beg?” Taehyung repeats, incredulous, his voice trembling.
“Yes.” Jungkook’s hand lifts, hovering near Taehyung’s jaw but not touching.
His restraint almost too cruel.
“You’ll ask for it. You’ll tell me you need it. And only then… will I give it to you.”
Taehyung’s scent spikes, sharp with frustration, thick with unspoken want. His body screams for the contact, but his pride fights viciously against it. “You…You arrogant alpha.”
Jungkook merely smiles faintly, his eyes glinting. “Say what you want. You will beg me.”
The air between them pulses, electric as their scents clash and mingle, creating a vision of a storm and a wildfire colliding.
Taehyung’s hands clench at his sides. His every nerve’s alive, every thought in disarray.
He wants to shove Jungkook away. He wants to kiss him breathless.
“…You’ll wait a long time, then,” He whispers, almost brokenly, instead.
Jungkook leans close, lips brushing the shell of Taehyung’s ear, his voice low. “…I can wait forever, Taehyung. Can you?”
The omega’s breath hitches, a sound soft and aching. His chest heaves, his throat tightens and his pride’s cracking under the weight of want.
Yet, he chins up. “You’ll see.”
The alpha doesn’t rise to the bait; he doesn’t have to.
His hand closes around Taehyung’s wrist, not harsh, but firm enough that the omega feels the command under the calm. “I’ve broken soldiers who thought they could talk back sharper than you, Tae.”
“And yet here I am,” Taehyung ripostes sweetly, leaning in until his knee nudges Jungkook’s. “Still talking.”
Jungkook’s eyes darken and, for a moment, Taehyung thinks he’ll snap— drag him under. But the alpha only tightens his hold a fraction and murmurs, “Keep testing me, omega. You’ll find out exactly how patient I am.”
Taehyung’s pulse stutters. And his scent, yet again, divulges him, spilling richer, sweeter, curling into Jungkook’s chest like smoke. But his smirk stays in place. “Maybe I like testing.”
“Then I’ll like taming.”
The words land heavy.
Jungkook finally steps back, leaving the air colder, emptier without his closeness.
He turns toward the window, hands clasped behind his back. “…When you’re ready, I’ll be here.”
Taehyung’s pulse thunders.
He tries to mask it with a scoff. “Confident, aren’t you?”
Jungkook’s smile is small but precarious. “No. Sure.”
Taehyung stands still by the fire, lips parting, body trembling with unspent need. His scent keeps filling the chamber, wild and sweet, begging without words.
And for the first time, the playful omega finds himself on the edge of surrender— caught between pride and desire, knowing that the next time his lips meet Jungkook’s, it may be because he has whispered the words he swore he’d never give: I need you. Please.

The palace stretches long and quiet under autumn’s grip, the scent of falling leaves drifting in with the cool wind.
For three days, Taehyung has carried himself like a prince— chin high, robes immaculate, laughter sharp and timed just right. To anyone else, he’s untouchable.
But Jungkook sees it.
The agitated tapping of his fingers against the table during the council. The way his scent spikes when Jungkook stands a little too close, only to smooth a heartbeat later as he forces it calm. The faint tremor in his hands when he adjusts his cuffs.
And at night— oh, at night, when they share a chamber— Jungkook hears every sharp inhale when their robes brush, every stutter in Taehyung’s breathing when he leans too near. He smells the truth in him: flowers, spice and sharp edges of want.
But Jungkook never touches him.
Rather, he moves with careful distance, brushing past the omega without pausing, kissing his hand politely before dinners, speaking in his calm, steady tone.
He lets Taehyung stew in it. Lets him ache.
And Taehyung’s… unravelling.
By the fourth night, he can’t take it anymore.
They’re sitting by the fire in their shared chamber, the crackle of burning logs filling the silence.
Jungkook is half-sprawled in an armchair, dark hair falling loose across his forehead. His robe is loosely tied, revealing the strong lines of his collarbones. He’s reading a report as if utterly unaffected.
Taehyung is curled in the opposite chair, having long given up pretending to focus on his embroidery. His hands tremble too much while his thoughts scatter like sparks. His scent betrays him again and again—sweet and sharp in its desperation.
Jungkook finally looks up, and his eyes catch Taehyung’s in the firelight.
He tilts his head slightly, expression unreadable. “Something wrong?”
Taehyung’s throat bobs. His lips part, then close again as his pride wars with want.
Forcing a smile, he mutters, “…No.”
Jungkook hums, setting the papers aside.
He leans back whilst stretching one arm lazily across the chair, muscles shifting under silk.
“You’ve been restless,” he says.
Taehyung bristles. “…I’m fine.”
“Oh? Your scent says otherwise.” Jungkook quirks an eyebrow. “Sweet. Sharp. Uneven.”
He leans forward slightly, propping his elbow on his knees, gaze steady and unrelenting. “You’re aching.”
Taehyung’s cheeks burn, reacting instantly to the truth in those words.
He turns his head away, nails digging into the fabric of his robe. “…You’re infuriating."
Jungkook rises slowly, each step willful as he crosses the space between them.
Taehyung looks up only when the alpha stops in front of him, shadow cutting across his lap.
“I told you,” Jungkook says softly, bending down until their faces are inches apart. His voice is low as he continues, “…When I kiss you again, it will be because you beg me.”
Taehyung feels his heart missing a beat.
His pride screams to hold his tongue. But his body outs him— the hitch of his breath, the way his thighs press together, and the way his scent spikes hot, filling the chamber.
Jungkook’s gaze drops to his lips, lingering, then lifts back to his eyes. “So beg, Taehyung.”
Taehyung shudders.
He wants to snarl, to snap, to say never. But the fire crackles, the cedar scent of Jungkook presses close, and the ache in his chest swells until it breaks past pride.
His voice comes out hoarse, trembling, almost a whisper. “…Please.”
Jungkook’s jaw flexes. “…Say it properly.”
Taehyung’s breath stutters. His lashes lower, shame and want twisting together until they are indistinguishable.
His lips brush the air between them, soft and desperate. “…Please… Jungkook…kiss me.”
The restraint in Jungkook snaps like glass.
He seizes Taehyung’s jaw, tilting it up, and crushes their mouths together.
The kiss is nothing like before.
It’s devastating, wrecking, like something that’s been waiting too long to break free.
Jungkook pushes his tongue in, teeth dragging along Taehyung’s lower lip before biting down hard enough to make the omega jolt.
Taehyung gasps against him, a broken sound swallowed between their mouths.
His hands fist in Jungkook’s robe, yanking him closer, fingers slipping on the fabric because he’s pulling too hard, too desperate to get him closer than close.
Their bodies slam together, and the heat that hits Taehyung is immediate, overwhelming.
His scent breaks open with it, sharp and hot, flooding the space between them, coating the alpha’s mouth, his throat and his hands.
A growl tears out of the alpha’s chest, deep enough that Taehyung feels it in his ribs.
Jungkook’s hand clamps around the back of Taehyung’s neck, dragging him into the angle he wants. His other hand grabs Taehyung’s waist and hauls him straight onto his lap, forcing their hips flush.
Taehyung goes easily, too easily.
He straddles Jungkook without thinking, thighs shaking as they tighten around him. His breath stutters, his nails catching on Jungkook’s shoulders as he tries to find someplace to hold on.
The kiss doesn’t slow so much as it changes; hard, then harder. Deep in a way that leaves no room to breathe or think.
The alpha kisses him like he’s been starving.
And Taehyung kisses him back like he’s the only thing left that matters.
When they finally tear apart, they don’t go far.
Air sucks in harsh between them, shared and wet. Their foreheads press together, breaths colliding, mouths still brushing like neither of them is willing to let even a second settle between them.
Jungkook’s voice drops low, rough. “…See? Perfect. When you beg… you’re perfect.”
Taehyung shudders, eyes glassy, chest heaving. His lips are raw, slick. He tries to speak, but the sound falters into a tremor.
“…I hate you,” he manages, though his arms stay tight around Jungkook’s neck.
A low chuckle rumbles through Jungkook’s chest. He presses a kiss to Taehyung’s jaw, then his temple.“…No. You love me. Enough to beg.”
Taehyung’s scent curls around them, dizzying and unguarded.
“…I do,” he breathes, voice shaky. “…I love you.”
Jungkook smiles against his skin, lips finding his forehead. “And I love you.”
Taehyung closes his eyes, breathing the moment before the alpha kisses him again— slower this time, savouring every inch of surrender he’s earned.
But he doesn’t stop. He can’t. He’s been starving for days, teased and provoked by this omega, and now—
The kiss doesn’t land so much as hit.
Jungkook’s mouth closes around Taehyung’s, hard enough to make him choke on his own breath. The omega tastes a faint, sharp taste blooming at the edge of his tongue, enough to make his pulse stumble.
Jungkook’s hands lock around his waist, fingers digging in deep, dragging him down like he’s yanking someone out of a burning building. Taehyung’s robe bunches in Jungkook’s fists, fabric twisting as he pulls Taehyung right into his chest.
Their bodies collide with a dull, heavy sound, ribs catching as breath knocks loose between them.
Taehyung feels the heat of Jungkook’s body like a blast as the swell of his ass grinds into the hard strain beneath the alpha's pants.
Jungkook doesn’t stop moving. His hands roam constantly; up Taehyung’s spine, around his ribs, down again, gripping and mapping every angle through the robe. His touch is rough, almost frantic, like he’s memorizing Taehyung by handful.
Taehyung’s breath stutters. His back curves into every pass of Jungkook’s palms, his hips shifting on instinct, thighs tightening around the alpha’s sides for leverage he can’t get fast enough. His nails scrape down Jungkook’s shoulders, catching on the seams of his robe as if he’s trying to tear it open with just his hands.
Jungkook groans, deep and guttural, vibrating straight through Taehyung’s chest.
The sound feels like a hand closing around his spine.
The kiss gets messier.
Jungkook’s mouth misses his for a second, sliding along his cheek before he finds Taehyung’s lips again, slamming in harder, tongue pushing deep, breath hot and uneven. Taehyung’s gasp breaks right into Jungkook’s mouth, a thin, helpless sound he can’t swallow down.
Their breaths mix; hot, ragged and fast.
Jungkook’s grip tightens again, hauling Taehyung forward so sharply his thighs shake around the alpha’s hips. Taehyung feels Jungkook’s chest expand under his palms, the tremor running through him when Taehyung shivers.
Whatever Jungkook was holding back snaps clean in two.
He kisses Taehyung like he’s been dying of thirst and finally got his mouth on water, like he doesn’t care if he drowns in it.
“Jungkook,” Taehyung breathes, voice shaking so hard it cracks.
His fingers fumble at the knot of his robe, tugging it loose with clumsy urgency just to bare a sliver more skin to the heat of Jungkook’s hands. “Let me show you how much I want it.”
He leans back only enough to be seen, lips swollen and shiny, hair sticking to his forehead, pupils blown wide.
“Can I suck you off? Please?” The omega whispers, almost pleading, almost shaking.
Jungkook’s cock twitches at the plea. A smirk curves his mouth. “Of course, angel. So good for asking.”
He yanks the omega into another bruising kiss before he’s moving, lips tearing down Taehyung’s throat, leaving heat and spit and sharp little bites that make Taehyung’s breath catch.
A broken whimper spills out, and it hits Jungkook like fuel.
Taehyung fists a hand in his hair, knuckles white, trying to keep himself upright as Jungkook’s teeth scrape over his pulse point.
Sparks tear through him, his chest tightening around the sound trying to claw out of his throat.
Jungkook growls— actually growls— at the reaction.
His hands slide down, palms spreading over Taehyung’s ass and squeezing hard, like he’s testing how much Taehyung can take.
“God, your ass is fucking perfect,” Jungkook grunts, both hands locking in and grinding Taehyung down on the thick bulge beneath him.
The pressure is obscene, dizzying; Taehyung’s thighs shake, breath stuttering out of him in short, desperate bursts.
“Fuck—” he gasps as Jungkook’s mouth finds his neck again, this time brutal.
The mark forms under his skin almost instantly, throbbing with heat, and Taehyung’s hips buck helplessly at the sting, chasing more without even thinking.
“Alpha,” he whines, the word breaking, needy enough to make Jungkook freeze for half a second.
Then something in Jungkook’s gaze fractures.
He pulls back with a hiss, eyes blown wide, chest rising like he’s barely holding himself in.
His hand snaps down before Taehyung can breathe; a sharp strike to his ass, the crack ringing through the room.
Taehyung jerks, a strangled sound tearing out of him as heat floods his skin.
Jungkook grips his jaw, forcing Taehyung to meet his stare.
“On your knees,” the alpha orders. “Now. Don’t make me say it again.”
Taehyung drops immediately.
Not gracefully.
His knees hit the floor with a thud, palms splayed on Jungkook’s thighs as he steadies himself, breath coming in rough, shaky pulls. His head is already lowering, need tearing through him faster than thought.
Jungkook watches him like something feral. His chest rises once, slow, like he’s dragging air through clenched teeth to keep himself from snapping outright.
“Good,” he mutters, voice thick. His hand slides into Taehyung’s hair, not guiding, but claiming. “That’s how you listen.”
Taehyung shivers, eyes dragging up to meet Jungkook’s. They’re blown, unfocused, pupils wide like he’s drunk on the alpha’s scent alone. His lips part, a soft noise catching in his throat when Jungkook tightens his grip just enough to make his scalp tingle.
The sight alone makes Jungkook’s cock throb painfully against the confines of his pants.
He leans forward, thumb brushing the corner of Taehyung’s mouth, not soft, just assessing, like he’s checking how ruined he already is.
“Look at you,” Jungkook murmurs, breath hitting Taehyung’s cheek. “Shaking for me.”
Taehyung’s fingers curl tighter around Jungkook’s thighs.
“What a good omega I have,” Jungkook mutters, leaning back in the chair, spreading his thighs wide in invitation. “Already giving in without me lifting a damn finger.”
Taehyung’s throat bobs, heat crawling all the way down his spine.
His whole body vibrates with anticipation as his trembling fingers reach for Jungkook’s waistband, fumbling until the alpha’s cock springs free— thick, hard and flushed dark with need.
Taehyung’s breath hitches, a needy sound breaking in his throat.
“My, my, my,” Jungkook rasps, his timbre rough.“Drooling already.”
Taehyung whines.
“Touch it,” Jungkook orders, voice almost a low growl.
Obedient, Taehyung wraps his hand around the length, his fingers just meeting. Jungkook hisses at the contact, his hips twitching forward, but he keeps his grip tight in Taehyung’s hair.
“Fuck— yeah, just like that. You love this, don’t you? Being on your knees for me.”
Taehyung swallows hard, his lips parting, eyes wanton, ready to lean in— but Jungkook’s hand fists in his hair and wrenches him back, completely.
“Not so eager,” Jungkook growls. “Open your mouth. Show me.”
Taehyung obeys instantly, lips falling apart, breath trembling as he looks up at him with wide, wet eyes.
“Such a good omega,” Jungkook rasps. He strokes himself once, slowly, the head slick and red, before pressing it to Taehyung’s mouth. “Tongue out. Wet it for me.”
The omega’s tongue darts forward, dragging over the head, tracing the thick vein that pulses down the side.
Jungkook’s breath hitches, thighs tensing, his jaw clenching as the sight burns straight through him.
“That’s it,” he mutters, voice breaking with lust. “Messy little mouth. Open wider— you want all of it, don’t you?”
“Yes,” Taehyung mewls, desperate. “Please, alpha. I can take it.”
“Then fucking take it. Let me see how needy you really are.”
Jungkook shoves forward, sliding his cock deep past swollen lips.
Taehyung opens wide, lips wrapping around the head, then sinking down with a desperate moan. Jungkook’s breath tears out of him, rough and guttural. He holds the back of Taehyung’s head, not guiding gently— forcing him lower, deeper, until his throat tightens around the girth.
“Fuck, that’s it. So pretty like this.”
Taehyung gags softly but doesn’t pull away, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes as he swallows around him. His hands squeeze at Jungkook’s thighs, steadying himself, and then he pushes deeper, until his nose brushes the base of his cock.
“Fuck yes,” Jungkook groans, hips snapping forward, forcing Taehyung to take every inch. “You were built for this, built to choke on on me. It fucking shows.”
Spit glistens on Taehyung’s flushed skin, dripping onto his robe, staining the rug beneath him. He moans around the thickness filling his throat, rutting unconsciously against the floor for friction, desperate and wrecked.
“Messy little slut,” Jungkook snarls, dragging him up only to slam him down again. “All that attitude, and now you’re on your knees drooling for me. This is where you fucking belong.”
The omega whimpers, muffled by his length, tears spilling as his body shakes with the effort of taking more. Jungkook’s eyes burn at the sight, the slick sounds and broken moans feeding the hunger coiled tight inside him.
He yanks Taehyung back suddenly, cock slipping wetly from his mouth with a loud gasp. A string of spit stretches between them, dripping down his chin.
The omega whines at the loss, voice hoarse. “You’re cruel.”
Jungkook leans forward, grabbing his jaw hard, forcing him to look up.
His teeth graze down the flushed column of his throat before biting into the tender skin, making Taehyung flinch and whimper.
His voice is a low growl against the marks he left.
“I’m merciful,” he rasps. “Cruel would be making you wait longer, making you beg and beg and beg to be filled.”
His eyes flick down to the rug spread beneath them, then toward the bed only a few feet away. His grip on Taehyung’s jaw tightens.
“Where do you want it, angel? On your hands and knees right here in front of the fire, or bent over our bed while I ruin you?”
Taehyung swallows, chest heaving, lips swollen and wet.
His eyes flick from the firelit rug to the looming shadow of their bed, and then back to Jungkook’s burning stare.
The alpha’s grip on his jaw is unrelenting, waiting.
“W–where you want me,” Taehyung whispers at first, but Jungkook’s fingers dig into his cheeks, forcing him to speak clearer.
“Say it,” Jungkook orders. “I want to hear you.”
Taehyung’s throat bobs as he tries again, his voice trembling but clear. “On the rug. By the fire. I want you to take me here.”
Jungkook’s mouth curves into something dark and feral. “That’s what I thought.”
He releases his jaw only to shove the omega back by the shoulder, making him fall to his hands and knees on the rug.
Taehyung doesn’t breathe as Jungkook rises from the chair.
The warmth of the flames washes over Taehyung’s skin, shadows flickering across his trembling frame as Jungkook stands over him, stripping the rest of the clothes, but the flimsy excuse of the omega’s robe, without care.
“You don't even hide it,” Jungkook growls, dropping to his knees behind him, large hands palming Taehyung’s ass roughly. “Choosing to get fucked right here where the fire can light up every inch of you. Fucking perfect.”
Taehyung shivers, obediently arching, his robe slipping off his shoulders to pool uselessly at his elbows as he feels himself leaking more.
“Stay still,” Jungkook growls, voice low and rough, almost a snarl. “Don’t move unless I tell you.”
Taehyung’s body stills instinctively, pliant under the command. He doesn’t need to think, doesn’t need to resist, he’s already burning to obey.
Jungkook’s fingers trail down his spine, slowly, deliberately, dragging the tension from his shoulders, teasing the muscles along his back, till they reach his rim. Till they slowly circle over it.
Taehyung whimpers at the touch, arching involuntarily, pressing closer to the alpha’s fingers.
Jungkook hisses before he yanks the omega up, pressing him to his chest.
Taehyung shudders, lips parting on a shaky inhale.
The alpha catches Taehyung’s face in one hand, his fingers digging into his cheeks just enough to make his mouth fall open.
“Wider,” Jungkook snaps.
Taehyung obeys, breath trembling, lips parting helplessly.
Jungkook doesn’t hesitate. He pushes his fingers into Taehyung’s mouth; deep, past the softness of his lips, pressing down on his tongue until Taehyung lets out a muffled whine around them.
“That’s it,” Jungkook growls. “Take it.”
Taehyung’s throat works around a swallowed gasp, heat rolling off him in waves. His eyes flutter as he inclines to meet Jungkook’s eyes.
The sight makes something vicious twist in Jungkook’s gut.
“Use your tongue,” he orders, voice low and edged with hunger.
His grip tightens, forcing Taehyung’s head still as his fingers push deeper, stretching his lips around them. “Get them wet. All of it.”
Taehyung does, eager and shaky.
His tongue drags along Jungkook’s fingers, messy and frantic, breath hot and uneven against his skin. A choked sound escapes him, vibrating around Jungkook’s hand.
Jungkook’s jaw flexes hard.
“Fuck,” he mutters as he drags his fingers from Taehyung’s mouth with a wet sound, watching the saliva cling and stretch before snapping.
Taehyung’s lips stay open, flushed, breath shaking like he’s already been wrecked.
A dangerous smile cuts across Jungkook’s face.
“This is what you're like,” he growls. “I’ve barely touched you and you’re already falling apart.”
Taehyung makes a soft, strangled sound, thighs trembling.
Jungkook silences him with a hand sliding up the back of his neck, gripping firmly, guiding him down again until Taehyung’s forehead almost touches the rug.
His other hand — the one he’d had in Taehyung’s mouth — trails lower, gliding over his waist, his hip, the trembling line of his thigh.
Taehyung trembles, muscles tightening under the slow, searching path of Jungkook’s fingers.
“You feel that?” Jungkook murmurs against his shoulder, voice thick, body crowding him from behind. “How your whole body reacts the second I touch you?”
Taehyung nods, breath rushing out of him in a gasp. “I— I can’t help it.”
“No,” Jungkook answers, pressing his chest to Taehyung’s back, his breath hot against the shell of his ear. “You don’t want to help it.”
His slick fingers slide over the place Taehyung aches the most.
Not entering, just pressing, cupping, feeling the way Taehyung jolts at the contact, how his breath shatters.
“Fuck, you’re shaking,” Jungkook snarls, pressing harder just to feel the way Taehyung jerks. “You’re burning up.”
A high, broken whimper rips from Taehyung before he can stop it.
Jungkook curses at the sound, pushing his middle finger inside the omega. “So fucking wet.”
Taehyung mewls, slick gushing out more and more.
“Feel that? The slick dripping to your thighs?” Jungkook rasps as he pulls out the finger and slams it back in, making the omega almost stumble forward.
Taehyung’s hands clench the rug tighter, nails digging in. Every inch of him seems to hum with anticipation, every muscle tingling and alive. “Y-yes Alpha.”
Jungkook’s lips curve into a dark, satisfied smile as he prepares the omega. “You tease, you provoke. But in the end, you break for me.”
Taehyung parts his mouth to speak, but chokes when Jungkook pushes yet another one. “So wet that you can take these, can’t you angel?”
Taehyung’s voice is breathless when he answers, “Only for you, alpha.”
“Damn right,” Jungkook grunts, leaning over him, chest pressing to his back, his cock hot and heavy against Taehyung’s ass.
His teeth catch the shell of Taehyung’s ear before he rasps, “Now beg for it. Beg me to ruin you.”
Taehyung’s fingers curl into the rug, the rough weave biting into his palms as he braces himself. His back arches beautifully, offering. He turns his head just enough for Jungkook to see the wet shine on his lips, his voice breaking when he obeys.
“Please, alpha. I want you inside me. Ruin me, make me yours.”
Jungkook’s cock twitches at the sound, a low grunt tearing from his chest. “Fuck.”
His hand cracks down in a sharp slap across Taehyung’s ass, making him jolt forward with a cry. “Say it again. Louder.”
Taehyung gasps, body trembling as he pushes back into the sting, desperate to please. “Please! Please, Jungkook, I need you, need you to fuck me, to fill me up until I can’t breathe.”
“That’s my omega.” Jungkook’s tone is dark, satisfied.
He spits into his palm, stroking himself once, slicking the length before dragging the head down between Taehyung’s cheeks. The omega shudders at the hot press against his entrance, whimpering into the rug.
“God, you’re already so fucking wet for me,” Jungkook mutters, thumbing at the entrance. “You want me that bad? So wet that you’ll take it all, won’t you?”
“Yes,” Taehyung moans without hesitation, voice raw with want. “I’ll take anything you give me.”
The sound Jungkook lets out is feral. “Good. Because I’m not holding back.”
He pushes in with one rough thrust, breaching him in a single, merciless stroke.
Taehyung’s cry breaks sharply in the firelit room, his arms buckling before he catches himself, his body stretching around the thick intrusion.
Jungkook’s hands clamp hard on his hips, anchoring him as he sinks deeper and deeper, until he is seated to the hilt.
“Fuck.. so tight. You’re choking me, baby,” Jungkook rasps, chest heaving as he ground in brutally. “This is where you belong. Split open on my cock.”
Taehyung’s eyes roll back, forehead pressed to the rug, every nerve alive. “Jungkook— oh god— so full—”
“That’s right. Take it.” Jungkook pulls back only to slam forward again, setting a harsh rhythm from the start.
The sound of skin meeting skin cracks through the quiet, mixing with Taehyung’s ragged cries.
The fire pops, shadows dancing across their bodies as Jungkook fucks him rougher, harder, using him just like he’d promised.
“You’re mine,” Jungkook husks into his ear, bending over him, hips driving mercilessly. “Only mine. Say it.”
Taehyung sobs, the words spilling without thought. “I’m yours. I’m only yours. Please don’t stop—”
Jungkook’s pace is relentless, his hips snapping forward again and again, the rug burning Taehyung’s knees as he claws at it. His cries pitch higher with every thrust, body bowing and yielding, his voice breaking into sobbed pleas.
“Too much.. too deep—” Taehyung cries, though he pushes back against the alpha, desperate for every brutal drive.
“You can take it,” Jungkook growls into his ear, one hand locking around his throat, forcing his head up, the other bruising his hip. “You were made for my cock. Look at you… crying and begging but still greedy for more. Filthy little thing.”
The words make Taehyung’s whole frame shiver. He pushes back desperately into each thrust, voice hoarse when he begs, “Please. Please knot me, alpha. Mate me, make me yours forever—”
Jungkook’s head drops, teeth bare, a feral grunt ripping from his chest. His hands clamp down on Taehyung’s hips hard enough to bruise. “You want to be mine that badly?”
“Yes! Yours, always yours—”
“Then fucking take it.”
Taehyung chokes on a moan, lips trembling, saliva dripping to the rug as his body clamps tighter around him. “Jungkook… please— don’t stop—”
“Don’t worry,” Jungkook snarls, rutting into him with sharp, punishing thrusts. “I’m not stopping until you’re ruined. Until you’re dripping with me.”
The thick swell at the base of his cock begins to press against Taehyung’s rim, stretching him wider with every slam forward. Taehyung sobs at the pressure, collapsing to his elbows, ass high and trembling.
“N-no— too big—” he whimpers.
“Yes,” Jungkook hisses, moving inside slowly, relentlessly, until he pops a knot with a wet, brutal stretch.
Taehyung screams, shaking apart beneath him, his walls convulsing violently around the thick intrusion.
“Fuck— yes—” Jungkook groans, burying himself to the hilt, locked tight inside the omega.
He bites down on Taehyung’s shoulder hard, growling through his teeth as his hips buck shallowly, grinding the knot deeper. “Now you’re mine. No one else gets you like this.”
Taehyung sobs, incoherent, his body melting, pliant, clenching desperately around him. “Yours. Yours… always—”
The words tip Jungkook over.
With a guttural snarl, he grinds once, twice, and spills deep inside, hot and endless, pulse after pulse flooding Taehyung until it spills back around the seal of his knot.
Just then, his teeth sink deep into the juncture of Taehyung’s neck.
The omega’s body arches with a strangled cry, every nerve set ablaze as the mating bite sears through him.
Blood wells, the sharp sting drowning by the overwhelming rush of completion as his body spasms and he comes untouched, spilling hot across the rug beneath him.
Jungkook holds him through it, chest pressed to his back, one hand pinning his throat, the other gripping his hip like iron.
The fire crackles beside them, painting their sweat-slicked skin in gold as Jungkook groans against his ear.
“Look at you,” he rasps, breathless but still rough, knot locking them together, cum leaking around the seal. “Stuffed full of me…exactly how you should be.”
Taehyung whimpers, eyes half-lidded. But even through the haze of it all, something fierce rises in him; instincts, desperate and wild.
He turns his head just enough, lips brushing over Jungkook’s sweaty jaw, and then bites. Hard. Right against the curve of the alpha’s neck, where his pulse hammers.
Jungkook’s eyes flow wide, a surprised sound tearing from his chest. “F-fuck— Tae—”
Taehyung sinks his teeth in deeper, growling low, until he tastes the sharp tang of blood.
His whole body clenches around the knot still buried inside him, sealing the bond from his side, marking back with equal fire.
“Mine,” Taehyung rasps, voice shredded and raw. “Not just yours. I want you mine too.”
Jungkook’s body shudders at the declaration, cock twitching, spilling more even when he thought he was wrung dry.
His hands grip Taehyung’s waist like a lifeline, forehead pressing hard against his shoulder.
“You fucking— god, you marked me,” Jungkook blurts, chest heaving, a broken laugh escaping him. “My omega’s got teeth.”
Taehyung licks the wound softly, tongue soothing over the bloodied skin, lazy but proud. “Now everyone will know. You belong to me as much as I belong to you.”
Jungkook growls low in his throat, not angry, no. But, wrecked, undone, and impossibly turned on by the reciprocity.
He kisses the shell of Taehyung’s ear. “Then we’re bound, forever. No one can touch us now.”
For a long moment, only the crackle of the fire fills the room before the omega makes a small, needy sound, pressing back into his chest, eyes half-lidded.
He shivers when Jungkook noses at his temple, his breath warm against his skin.
“You did so good for me,” the alpha praises, tone low, more intimate than before. His hand splays across Taehyung’s chest, feeling the thrum of his heart beneath. “Took everything, even my knot, like you were made for it.”
Taehyung’s lashes flutter, his lips curving into the faintest, tired smile. “I… am. For you.”
That makes Jungkook pause, his chest tightening with something raw. He presses a rough kiss to Taehyung’s temple, then another, softer, at the corner of his jaw.
“So beautiful,” he whispers, not a growl now, but something steadier. “So mine.”
Taehyung hums in agreement, his hand weakly reaching back to brush against Jungkook’s thigh, where it’s pressed against him.
The touch is small, tender, but it pulls the edge out of Jungkook’s possessiveness, grounding him in the intimacy of their shared warmth.
The firelight flickers across their tangled forms, their shadows long and close on the walls.
Knotted and locked together, Jungkook exhales slowly against the curve of Taehyung’s neck, a hand stroking idly over his chest as if to soothe him down from the storm.
Neither moves. Neither need to. The world outside the crackling fire and their entwined bodies doesn’t matter.
And it doesn’t matter even twenty minutes later when Taehyung is limp against the alpha, every muscle loose, pliant and spent.
His cheek rests on the rug, hair sticking to his damp forehead, mouth parted in small, uneven breaths. Jungkook shifts behind him, his cock slipping out, and Taehyung whimpers at the movement, the sound tiny and fragile.
Jungkook brushes a thumb over the omega’s hipbone, steadying him.
“Shh. Easy,” he murmurs, voice husky but gentle. “I’ve got you.”
Slowly, he adjusts, careful as his arms slide under Taehyung— one beneath his knees, the other curling around his back.
In one fluid lift, Jungkook hauls him up against his chest, the omega weightless in his hold.
Taehyung makes a soft sound, head lolling against Jungkook’s shoulder.
“You… want…still inside…” he whispers, almost dazed.
Jungkook presses his lips against the side of his temple, the firelight catching the sharp cut of his jaw.
“Of course I will,” he breathes. “Not letting you go.”
The floor creaks under Jungkook’s steps as he carries them both across the room.
The firelight flickers behind them, and the bed looms ahead, sheets turned down, waiting.
He lays Taehyung down carefully, lowering him to the cool linen.
Taehyung whimpers at the shift, curling instinctively toward him, arms winding weakly around Jungkook’s shoulders.
“Warm…” he murmurs, eyelids fluttering.
Jungkook climbs onto the bed with him, pressing close until their bodies are flush.
He drags the covers over them both with one hand, his other palm spreading possessively over Taehyung’s stomach, holding him there as he slips inside again.
“Sleep,” Jungkook whispers against his hair, his rough edges mellowing into something raw, protective. His chest rises and falls with Taehyung’s, locked together with no space between them. “I’ll keep you full. All night if I have to.”
Taehyung makes a small noise of agreement, nuzzling into his throat.
The firelight dims across the room, shadows softening, as Jungkook’s grip tightens once more, anchoring them in that closeness.
There is no distance now. Just the warmth of the bed, and the feeling of being newly mated.

The fire went out hours ago, leaving only the soft glow of embers in the grate.
Dawn filters pale through the heavy curtains, softening the edges of everything— the carved furniture, the tangled sheets and the two bodies that are pressed together.
Taehyung wakes slowly, drifting up from sleep like he’s rising through warm water.
For a moment, he isn’t sure he wants to surface at all. His body feels loose and heavy, every nerve still humming with the night they left behind. His lips throb faintly, his throat aches where kisses and teeth lingered, and every breath pulls in the alpha's scent, so thick and impossible to escape.
Then he feels the weight around his waist, solid and warm.
Taehyung turns his head, just enough to look, and his breath stutters.
Jungkook lies half on his side, half on top of him, like even in sleep he refuses to give him space. One arm is locked around Taehyung’s waist, firm and possessive, while the other is slipped under Taehyung’s head, holding him close.
His face, usually sharp, guarded and carved from discipline, looks impossibly soft like this. Long lashes resting against his cheeks. Mouth relaxed, barely parted. Brow free of tension for once.
A quiet heat blooms in Taehyung’s chest, sharp and unexpected.
He really shouldn’t look this beautiful.
But then Jungkook stirs, nuzzling closer into the omega’s throat, his breath warm against his skin.
The arm at Taehyung's waist tightens instinctively, pulling him in flush.
“You’re awake.” Jungkook’s voice is rough, gravelly with sleep, but still low and commanding. His eyes crack open, dark and heavy-lidded, landing immediately on Taehyung.
Taehyung swallows, turning quickly into the pillow to hide his expression. “You sound smug already.”
Jungkook’s lips curve faintly. He leans in, pressing the barest kiss to the sensitive skin beneath Taehyung’s ear.
“Shouldn’t I?” His voice drops, edged with satisfaction. “My omega begged me.”
Heat rushes to Taehyung’s cheeks. He jerks back to swat at him, scandalised. “You—!”
But Jungkook catches his wrist with practised ease, pinning it effortlessly against the mattress. His grin sharpens, wolfish.
“Don’t say it like that,” Taehyung hisses as his face flushes, eyes darting everywhere but on the alpha.
Jungkook hums low, dragging his nose down Taehyung’s jaw, inhaling deeply, savouring.
“But it’s true.” His voice softens, losing its teasing edge, and turns raw and sincere. “You were beautiful.”
Taehyung freezes, breath hilting in his chest.
“You’re supposed to be a terrifying crown prince,” he mutters weakly, attempting to wriggle free, but Jungkook’s grip only tightens. “Not saying things like that.”
“I am terrifying,” Jungkook says simply as his gaze locks onto Taehyung’s, unblinking, unwavering. “To everyone else.”
He shifts closer, cupping Taehyung’s chin firmly. “Not to you.”
Something in Taehyung unravels then. His usual wit, his sharp tongue, his chaos… all of it softens, leaving him staring back with wide, trembling eyes.
And Jungkook looks at him like he is something precious, someone he’d guard with his life.
It is too much.
Taehyung shoves at his chest weakly, mumbling, “Stop looking at me like that. It’s… it’s annoying.”
Jungkook only laughs softly, a sound rich and low as it rumbles against Taehyung’s chest. It’s the kind of laugh he never gives anyone else.
He leans down, pressing a lingering kiss first to Taehyung’s temple, then his forehead, then finally— slowly, reverently— to his lips.
Taehyung melts into it despite himself, fists curling into the folds of Jungkook’s robe.
His pulse thunders, but it isn’t the frantic desperation of the night before. No, it is something steadier, something deeper.
When they break apart, breath mingling, Taehyung whispers, “You’ll spoil me.”
Jungkook’s lips brush against his once more, the barest ghost of a smile tugging at them. “Good. That’s the point.”
He tucks his nose back against Taehyung’s neck, inhaling deeply, somewhat possessively.
The room reeks with their mingled scents— cedar, thyme and wildflowers entwined, soaking into the sheets, clinging to their skin.
It isn’t just Jungkook’s anymore. It is theirs.
Taehyung’s face heats, the realisation sending another wave of warmth through him. He buries his face into Jungkook’s shoulder, voice muffled. “If Jin hyung or Hobi hyung step in here, they’ll die of secondhand embarrassment.”
Jungkook chuckles against his skin, the sound warm and content. “Let them.”
He tightens his hold, burying the omega closer, as though the idea of letting go even for a moment was intolerable.
And Taehyung, despite his words, despite the teasing edge that clings to him always, let himself be held.

The royal breakfast is a grand affair, as always. Sunlight pours through tall arched windows. Long tables gleam with polished silver and crystal decanters of wine and juice. Servants move quietly in the background, laying out platters of fruits, warm breads, and roasted meats.
Taehyung is sitting at Jungkook’s side, posture perfect, hands folded neatly… at least for appearances. Inside though? His entire body is screaming with awareness.
Every brush of Jungkook’s hand against his, every casual lean of the alpha’s broad shoulder near his, every shift of cedar-scent that rolls over him like waves… it leaves his pulse uneven.
And worse: everyone else notices.
Jimin is lounging across from him, chin propped in his hand, wearing the kind of smile Taehyung wants to smack off his face. Yoongi, beside him, looks deceptively calm, but the faint crinkle at the corner of his eyes betrays quiet amusement.
On Jungkook’s side of the table sits Namjoon, regal and composed, though his eyes are darting now and then with sharp perception. Jin is pouring tea with serene elegance, but his lips curve knowingly. Hoseok… well, Hoseok keeps trying not to laugh outright.
It is insufferable.
Jin is the first to break the silence.
“You’re late,” he says mildly, voice smooth as cream. “Nearly an hour later than usual.”
Taehyung’s fork hesitates mid-air. He swallows carefully. “We… overslept.”
“Mm,” Jin hums, eyes glittering. “Overslept.”
Jimin chokes on his juice. Yoongi hands him a napkin without comment, though his lips twitch.
Taehyung flushes, glaring daggers across the table.
Jungkook, of course, remains unbothered. He reaches for the basket of bread, tears a piece, and places it on Taehyung’s plate without asking; the gesture so intimate, domestic, and entirely too obvious.
Taehyung hisses under his breath, “Stop that.”
Jungkook tilts his head, gaze all faux innocence. “What? Feeding my mate?”
Taehyung nearly drops his fork. His entire face burns.
The word mate hangs heavy in the air. Every pair of eyes at the table sharpens; some in surprise and some in smug confirmation.
Conversation resumes awkwardly, servants pouring more tea, plates filling with food.
And, Taehyung tries to focus on his eggs. Tries.
Because under the table, Jungkook’s knee presses against his. Firm. Claiming.
Taehyung shifts, pulling slightly away. The knee follows.
He shoots Jungkook a glare, whispering sharply, “Stop it!”
Jungkook leans closer, voice low against his ear. “You keep telling me to stop. Yet your scent says otherwise.”
Taehyung’s hand clenches around his fork. His scent spikes involuntarily.
Jimin’s eyes widen, catching it instantly, his grin splitting wider.
“Oh my god,” he mutters, half in glee, half in disbelief. “You two actually—”
Yoongi kicks him under the table.
Namjoon clears his throat delicately.
“Well,” he says, choosing his words carefully, “it seems… things have shifted between you two.”
Taehyung wants the earth to swallow him whole.
Jungkook, meanwhile, sits straighter, shoulders squared, pride practically radiating off him.
He reaches again, this time plucking a grape and slipping it directly into Taehyung’s mouth before the omega can protest.
The table falls silent for a beat.
Taehyung chews slowly, eyes wide, mortified.
Jungkook smirks, satisfied, gaze sweeping the table challengingly as if daring anyone to speak. “What?”
Jimin hides a smile behind his teacup. Namjoon pinches the bridge of his nose. Hoseok finally loses it and bursts out laughing. Jin leans forward, whispering to Yoongi, “He’s unbearable.”
Yoongi nods, deadpan. “They both are.”
Beneath all the mortification, something in Taehyung sparks; mischief… a rebellion. If Jungkook thinks he can smother him with smug dominance in public, he has another thing coming.
He leans closer, lips brushing Jungkook’s ear, voice a whisper laced with honeyed venom. “Two can play this game, alpha.”
Jungkook’s smirk falters, just slightly.
Taehyung smiles sweetly, picking up his teacup with impeccable grace while his free hand slips beneath the tablecloth, brushing lightly against Jungkook’s thigh.
Just enough pressure to make the alpha’s breath hitch.
Jungkook turns to him, eyes narrowing in warning.
Taehyung sips his tea, unbothered, lips curving.
This time, it is Jungkook’s composure that threatens to crack.
The meal drags on. Conversations rise and fall around them — Namjoon speaking of treaties, Jin commenting on the season’s harvest, Yoongi interjecting with dry wit, Jimin giggling at everything, Hoseok trying to keep the peace.
And through it all, under the long linen tablecloth, Taehyung wages war.
At first, it is innocent, merely a brush of his knee against Jungkook’s. Then it is a light drag of fingers along the alpha’s thigh, barely a touch, but enough to make Jungkook inhale sharply through his nose.
Jungkook grips his knife tighter. “Taehyung.” The warning is low, so quiet that only Taehyung can hear.
Taehyung tilts his head, eyes big and guileless. “Yes, your majesty?”
He bites into a strawberry, lips stained red, licking the juice slowly from his thumb.
Jungkook’s gaze drops instantly, heat flaring in his eyes before he jerks it back up, jaw locked.
Yoongi arches an eyebrow across the table, clearly clocking the tension. Jimin, of course, is biting his lip to stifle laughter.
Taehyung’s hand returns under the table, bolder this time, sliding higher up Jungkook’s thigh, nails dragging lightly through fabric.
Jungkook’s whole body goes taut. His cedar-scent spikes, sharp and hot, filling the air.
Namjoon’s words falter mid-sentence. He clears his throat. Jin sips his tea too quickly, hiding a knowing smirk. Hoseok coughs into his napkin, suspiciously like laughter.
Jungkook shoots them all a look of death, but Taehyung only smiles wider, lashes lowering as though butter won’t melt in his mouth.
“You’re playing with fire,” Jungkook growls, voice low enough to vibrate against Taehyung’s ribs.
“Mm,” Taehyung hums, biting into another piece of fruit, lips glistening. “Maybe I like fire.”
The meal ends at last, dishes clear, servants bowing as they excuse themselves.
Taehyung rises gracefully, adjusting his robe. Jungkook follows, movements clipped, shoulders squared.
His hand clamps around Taehyung’s wrist the moment they step out of sight of the hall.
“Jungkook—”
Taehyung barely gets the word out before the alpha yanks him into a side corridor, pressing him against the cold stone wall.
“You think that was funny?” Jungkook’s eyes burn. “Making a show out there? Testing me in front of them?”
Taehyung smirks, though his pulse skitters. “You looked so composed. I wanted to see how long you’d last.”
Jungkook cages him in, arms bracing on either side. He bends low, breathing hot in Taehyung’s ear. “You don’t tease me without consequences, omega.”
A shiver tears through Taehyung, fear and thrill tangled together.
He tilts his chin up, defiance that is already quivering into surrender. “Then punish me.”
Jungkook’s growl vibrates against his chest before his mouth crashes into Taehyung’s, all teeth and bite.
His hand fists in dark hair, yanking his head back, forcing him to take the kiss rough, devouring, until Taehyung whimpers.
The corridor is empty, but unsafe. That makes it worse. That makes it hotter.
“Someone could see—” Taehyung gasps.
“Good,” Jungkook snarls, teeth scraping his throat. “Let them see you ruined by me.”
Wildflowers spike sharply from Taehyung’s glands, flooding the hall. Jungkook groans, nearly feral, sucking dark bruises into his neck until Taehyung’s knees tremble.
“You’ll drive me mad,” Jungkook rasps, voice breaking rough against his skin.
Taehyung’s laugh is weak, breathless. “Mad suits you.”
Their foreheads press together, breaths mingling, heavy and hot.
“You’re not leaving our chambers tonight,” Jungkook promises, words edged like a blade. “You wanted punishment? You’ll have it.”
Taehyung’s lips part, wide-eyed, trembling. “I’ll hold you to that.”
The feral smile Jungkook gives is answer enough.
